The bond we shared hummed with a mutual deep respect and a soft ribbon of unspoken understanding that wound itself around our hearts. His laugh was the sound that made our hearts sing. His vitality, his spirit, his vivacity was something that pushed all of us to be better, to be more, to give more, to fight through the hurdles with a smile.

This boy with a heart of gold was an overflowing treasury of dreams, adventure and curiosity. The name Memphis aptly befits him, for just like the historic city's cultural richness, his life was an enthralling tapestry of vibrant hues. And just like the city that is known for its positive influence on music, my nephew Memphis left an indelible imprint of his gracious and inspiring personality on every life he touched.

Standing here today, I am not ashamed to admit that this loss has left an irreplaceable void in our lives, a missing puzzle piece that is felt every single day. With his departure, the world seems a bit less bright, a little less warm.

Though we grieve his passing, it is also vital for us to remember how he lived. As we mourn, let us also celebrate. Memphis would have wanted us to remember him not with tears in our eyes, but with smiles on our faces and joy in our hearts.

Let us honor his memory not by wallowing in sorrow, but by being the best versions of ourselves, by living the values he held dear, by spreading love and positivity just as he did. In doing so, Memphis will continue to live amongst us, in our actions, in our hearts and most importantly, in our memories.

Dear Memphis, when you left, you did not go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God called you home. Your precious life was brief, yet it impacted us immensely. You leave behind a trail that is steeped in kindness, generosity, and unquenchable zest for life.
