Beloved wife of Leo Paquette for 38 years. Cherished mother of Tabitha, Ashley (Luc Jacques) and Tiffany. Cindy was a proud grandmother and will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Keenan, Kaaden and their father Chad MacLeod. Loving sister of Christie (Dwight), Tony and Andy. Loving daughter of Diane Steadman (late George). Dear sister-in-law of the late Danny, late Lorraine (late Bill), Rita (late Charlie), Ralph (Bonnie), Julie (late Ralph), late Isador, late Roger (Mary), Helen (Raymond), Noël (Louise), late Richard (Laura) and Philip. Cindy will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and friends. Her furbabies Shiloh and Luna will miss her.
Cindy was an avid knitter and crocheter, she absolutely loved making different kinds of blankets, sweaters, hat and socks. You name it, she could knit it. Cindy also loved to craft. In the summertime Cindy would spend time camping at Linamac Lodge with Leo and the rest of the gang.

Benjamin Plourde - March 02, 1982 - February 18, 2024

Obituary Preview: PLOURDE, Benjamin -It is with great sorrow Robert and Marilyn Plourde announce the passing of their beloved son Benjamin on Sunday February 18, 2024 at Barrie, Ontario.
Benjamin was born March 2, 1982 at Chapleau General Hospital. He attended Our Lady of Fatima Elementary School in Chapleau and graduated from Chapleau High School. He completed his Conductor Course at George Brown College but decided to go to work for Molson Brewing in Toronto. His love of the North and his family drew him home again. He worked for the Ministry of Natural Resources as a firefighter and ultimately landed his dream job with Redpath at the Borden Lake mine which he loved.
Ben loved to play guitar and joined his friends, in many happy jamming sessions. He and his friends were avid snowboarders and were the first ones to snowboard at the Chapleau Ski Club. Ben loved animals and had a special place in his heart for the family pets especially his cat Cheddar Meow.
Benjamin had his Trapping Licence being the fourth generation to trap on his great-grandfathers Albert Moreau’s trapline. He became an expert hunter and fisherman. Almost every year he bagged his moose. His best friend and cousin Remi Plourde was a constant companion at the family camps at Nemegos and they had many adventures exploring the surrounding wilderness. Benjamin was a member of the Chapleau Cree First Nation and was proud of his native heritage. His great-great-grandparents were William and Jane (nee McAuley) Linklater founding members of his band.
He leaves to mourn him his mother Marilyn (nee Moreau) Plourde and father Robert Plourde. His dad was also his best buddy and they enjoyed a close friendship. His older brother Jonathan (Kelly) and younger brother Cameran (Robyn Brunette) were true friends as well as brothers and will miss him forever. Predeceased by maternal grandparents Regis and Lila (nee Linklater) Moreau. His paternal grandparents Gerard (deceased)and Cecile (Turbide) Plourde.
Also to mourn him are his paternal aunts, uncles and cousins, Michael and Joanne (Bouchard) Plourde with Sylvain (deceased), Patrick, Mitch and Levi (Christina), Danny Plourde (Trish) with Natalie and David, Suzanne (Plourde) and Joe with Joey (Megan) Clifford, Mark (Andrea) Clifford, Luc Plourde and Kathy Boucher with Chantal, Remi, Liann and Joel.
His maternal aunts, uncles and cousins, Mary Gail (Moreau) O’Riley and Syd (deceased) with Shawn, Joanne (Moreau) Branchaud and Michael with Andrea (Bourgeault) and DeAnne (Branchaud) Gauthier, Katherine (Moreau) Piche and Terry with Scott (McKechnie), Melissa, Cory and Darcy. Anne Marie (Moreau) Barsalou and Donny with Christopher (Erin), Rebecca Barsalou, Shannan (Barsalou) Flint and Steven, Mathew Barsalou, Cynthia Moreau with son Ryder, Valerie Moreau with Vanessa and Stepanie St. Cyr, Shawn Moreau with daughter Amber Lila, Douglas Moreau, Wendy Moreau with Chantal (Gravel), Julia and Hailey Frankow and also many nieces and nephews.
Benjamin was a caring and loving uncle to Cameran and Robyn’s three children, Selena, and identical twins Eli and Leon.
The pallbearers are Benjamin’s best friends Christopher Barsalou, Remi Plourde, Ben Mulligan, Shawn Chavigny, Joe Couture and Marcel Bouchard. Honorary Pallbearers are Kari Luhtasaari and Levi Plourde. The family would like to thank everyone who contributed food and all the condolences. Memorial donations to Sacred Heart Parish, Chapleau in Benjamin’s name would be appreciated. Benjamin would have been very proud of the support from the community for his family. Obituary Preview: ROY, Sandra (nee Mcmillan) – (September 14, 1944 – January 29, 2024) - A piece of our hearts went home to heaven with you today.
The family of Sandra Roy are heart broken to announce her peaceful passing at the Lady Dunn Health Centre in Wawa, after a short battle with cancer. Surrounding her with love as she took her final breath, her devoted and loving husband of 58 years Marcel Roy Sr., her cherished son Marcel Roy Jr (Cindy), beloved daughter Marisa Roy (Scott) as well as her loving granddaughter Mackenzie Burns. Predeceased by her parents Stan and Betty McMillian and sister Suzanne Hunt. She is now reunited with her firstborn daughter Tracy, whom she couldn’t wait to hug. She leaves behind her sister Sonia Dube (Francis), brothers Donald McMillan (Julie), Graham McMillan (Kathy), Roger McMillan (Carol) and Gary McMillan. Sister-in-law to Bob Roy (late Carol), Mary Claire Roberts (late Gilbert), Herbie Roy (Suzanne), Maryanne Oulette (Eddie), Cecile Whalen (Bob), Rita Saunders (Paul), Monique Sturgeon (Don), Roland Roy, Rosie Roy, Denise Roy and Corrine Roy and granddaughter Britney Roy as well as her many nieces and nephews and friends.
Mom always made sure each one of us knew how much we were loved, always putting her family before herself.
Building a life in Hawk Junction for over 40 years with her husband, she dedicated many years to cooking and decorating for the Algoma Central Railway Christmas parties, catering many gatherings and weddings. She also cared for many children as she was the sole daycare provider in Hawk. She loved and enjoyed every pair of little feet that came through her door.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Reich and the nurses at the Sault Area Hospital and also thanks to Drs. Oberai, Switzer, Evans and Cotterill. To the nurses at the Lady Dunn Health Centre you are amazing, thank you all for the care and compassion mom and her family received during this difficult time. Sam, keep wearing RED.

Obituary Preview: LINDQUIST, Roy - Roy passed away in his sleep on Sunday January 28, 2024, shortly after his 86th birthday. Born in Dryden Ontario on December 30, 1937, Roy lived in Dryden until 1973 when he moved to Ignace, Ontario with his family. Roy worked 50 years in the grocery business, making his way to manager of the Harley’s Dryden store, and then owner of the Ignace Harley’s store until his retirement. Roy and Vi moved to Chapleau, Ontario in 2020 to be with family.
Roy will be missed by his wife of 62 years, Violet, son Kevin (Susan), daughter Marcia Jacob (Ralph), granddaughter Brenda Bernier (Clayton), grandsons Nels Lindquist (Emily) and Colin Lindquist (Tammy), and his great grandchildren Rowan, Charlotte and Lyra. He is survived by siblings Vera Kielback (late Al), Inez Hall (late Ken), Cliff Lindquist (Sylvia), Ron Curtis (Heidi), Swen Lindquist (Penny), sister in laws Lynda Lindquist (late brother Bert), Vina Lindquist (late brother Everett), brother in law Rolly Rousseau (late sister Sonja), and step sisters Ruth Bolt, Maureen Par.
Roy enjoyed visiting with friends and family and spent many years travelling with Vi. He enjoyed golfing with his Ignace buddies, fishing in Dryden, Ignace and Chapleau, and was an avid reader.
-As per Roy’s request, cremation has taken place at River’s Edge Cremation Centre, Sault Ste. Marie and there will be no funeral services.

France is pre deceased by her parents Raymond Berthiaume and Jeanne D’arc Berthiaume (née Denis), and her loving husband Jean-Pierre Létourneau. She leaves behind her two sons Luc (Chantal) and Nicholas (Ada-Marie), her four grandchildren, Zachari, Karolynne, Noah and Milo, and her great grandson Kylo. Adored sister of Micheline, late Nicole (Michel), Danielle (Mario), Yves, Pierre and Lucie (Mike). She will be deeply missed by all of her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Terri was called to eternal life with our Lord Jesus where she is reunited with her parents Bob and Margaret (nee Leclair), her sister Ann, and her brother Pat.
Her love, kind and gentle nature, beautiful smile, her sense of humour and her love of her Irish ancestry and Ireland, are cherished memories for her sister Rita (Richard), brother Bob (Andree), sister Betty and sister-in-law Ludie. Her craftiness, creativity, joy of life and love of everything green will be remembered by her nieces and nephews, Erin, Chris, Paula, Kevin, Derek, Melissa, Pamela, Lani, and Tara, as well as her great nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and seniors or our community.
Terri was a member of the Catholic Women’s League and Chapleau Senior Citizens Club. She was a fan of Soccer, the Canadian Women’s and Men’s national hockey teams, especially the Vancouver Canucks and loved watching curling.
The family extends their appreciation to the wonderful staff at the Bignucolo Residence including nurses, doctors, PSW’s, activation, housekeeping, laundry and dietary for their excellent care and support for Terri and her family. We also thank Father Herve Sauve for the support, time and prayers for Terri and her family.

John Morrison - July 04, 1938 - December 29, 2023

Obituary Preview: MORRISON, John – It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Morrison announces his peaceful passing on Friday December 29, 2023 after four challenging years with Lewy Body Dementia. Born in Matachewan in 1938 to Neil and Hilda Morrison, John moved to Wawa at the age of two where his father was Master Mechanic at the newly revived Helen Mine. The family eventually lived first in a log cabin on Station Road, then in a company house (now 79 Government Road). His adventures on the mountain around Morrison Lake, and his tales of rabbit snares and unruly bears, are legendary. He followed his father to Algoma Ore after graduating from what is now the Haileybury School of Mines, in 1961. He worked his way through many positions at Algoma Ore, retiring in 1997 after 14 years as Safety Supervisor.
John was many things to many people. Above all these, we will remember him as Wawa’s number one ambassador who truly lived the Rotary Club motto, “Service Above Self”. His passions were the Rotary Club of Wawa, fishing, hunting, and sharing his little piece of paradise at the mouth of the Michipicoten River.
Predeceased by his younger sister Madeleine, he leaves behind his life-long companion and travel partner of 58 years Kaireen, his children Johanna Rowe (Sam), and Matthew, his granddaughter Sage Morrison, sister-in-law Pat James (John), nephew and nieces Kent, Laurie and Belinda. He will be dearly missed by all, especially his cousins both near and far.
At this time there will be no funeral services. Cremation has taken place at River’s Edge Cremation Centre, Sault Ste. Marie. A memorial service will be held on Thursday July 4, 2024 (time and place to be announced closer to the date).

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shirley, his daughters Jessica (RJ), Suzanne and Whitney, his grandchildren Amelia, Cole, Emma, Peter, Phoenix and Preston and by his sister Theresa Smith (Garry). Greg was predeceased by his loving parents Peter and Bernadette Roussy. He will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Greg was a long-time resident of White River, the town he loved. He was a lifelong bush worker, from Forest Fire Fighting to Piece-Logging to Mechanical Harvesting. Greg had a passion for the bush life and was an advocate for economics in White River. After working in the forest Greg could be found spending time there, kayaking, hunting, fishing or cutting firewood. If he could get the weekend off, you would find this Habs fan at the hockey rink cheering on his daughters, telling them to skate faster, shoot or stop the puck.
The family would like to invite everyone who knew Greg to a Celebration of his life on Thursday August 1, 2024 at the Hillside Cemetery, White River at 11:00 a.m.

Deb loved having family at her side. Sleepovers at Grandma’s were a weekly ritual. She loved the outdoors; fishing, gardening, golfing, or being in her happy place – Las Vegas. Deb was an amazing cook who would take a recipe and perfect it her way.
As per Deb’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
