Obituary Preview: Nancy J. (Morningstar) Bowser, 89, of Wellsboro, formerly of York, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at The Green Home, Wellsboro.
Nancy was born on December 16, 1932, in York, PA, the daughter of the late George and Mary (Myers) Morningstar.  She married Dr. Michael W. Bowser on September 11, 1959 and celebrated 61 years of marriage until his passing on December 13, 2020.
Nancy was a Surgical Assistant at the York Oral Surgery Center which was founded by her husband.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Wellsboro and was very active with the Hamilton-Gibson Theatre, Wellsboro.  She loved music and enjoyed singing, playing the piano and organ.  She also loved animals and had many family dogs, and traveling and RVing with her husband.
Nancy is survived by sons, Michael (Dawn) Bowser, Jr., David (Billie) Bowser, a daughter, Cynthia (Wayne) Bacon all of Wellsboro and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Along with her husband and parents, Nancy was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lea Bowser and three brothers.

She was born September 19, 1943, in Philadelphia, to Floyd and Bernice (Rakauskus) Jones. On April 2, 1966, she married Joseph Sherman with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. Velma worked as an elementary school teacher, and for Laurel Health in senior support services. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and a volunteer at UPMC Wellsboro Soldiers and Sailors. Velma is survived by her husband, three sons: Brian Sherman of Cleveland, OH, Roger Sherman of Tioga, and David Sherman of Philadelphia; a daughter: Lisa Sherman-Gleason (Scott) of Tioga; 5 grandchildren: Austin Sherman, Ilsa Sherman, Daphne Sherman, Ingrid Dampf, and Carlee Sherman; two great-grandchildren: Nora Sherman and Faye Sherman; three brothers: Duane Jones of Sioux Falls, SD, Kenneth Jones of Liberty, and Festus Jones of Quakertown, PA; and two sisters: Donna Baker of Martinsburg, WV, and Kathy Jamison of Milford Square. She was preceded in death by her parents. She moved with her family to this area in 1947, and she graduated from high school, and worked as a bookkeeper for Tioga County. She served as a Jury Commissioner for Tioga County, was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, and a 51 year member of the Wellsboro Moose Auxiliary. Her joy in life was the opportunity to give care to her grandson Kelcey Simmons. Hattie is survived by her son: Bernard E. Simmons (Kathy) of Wellsboro; two daughters: Gloria Shelmire (James) of Wellsboro, and Karry Simmons of Wellsboro; 8 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers: Carl Parton of Richmond, VA, and George Parton (Margaret) of Richmond, VA, and several nieces and nephews. Obituary Preview: Henry E. Topf, Jr., 78, of Wellsboro passed away Wednesday April 13, 2022 at the Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester, NY. He was born September 4, 1943 in Wellsboro to Henry E. and Bertha M. (Stock) Topf, Sr. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. While serving in Viet Nam he earned a Purple Heart. On April 24, 1962 he married Synthia A. Spencer with whom he shared nearly 60 years of marriage. Together they raised their children while living in several states. Henry was a member to St. Peter's Catholic Church in Wellsboro. He was an avid hunter, shooter, outdoorsman, and world traveler. He was an entrepreneur and inventor, starting several companies and holding many patents. Henry also initiated a charity called Vietnam Poverty Relief Inc., and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Henry is survived by his wife: Synthia Topf, of Wellsboro; a daughter: Christine Read (Richard) of Newark, OH; two sons: Henry Topf, III (Rebecca) of Sugar Grove, OH, and Sidney Topf (Kimberly) of Eagle River, AK; two brothers: Ralph David Topf (Debra) of Wellsboro, and John William Topf (Debora) of Campbell, NY; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: James Douglas Topf. She enjoyed knitting and plastic craft, loved reading, and as a lifelong resident of Wellsboro considered that her home even after relocating to Berwick with her daughter in 2018. Dorothy is survived by two sons: John L. Scudder (Debbie) of Anchorage, AK, and Robert L. Scudder, Jr. (Frankie) of Northumberland, PA; two daughters: Lynda Clark (Dr. David) of Berwick, and Natalie S. McCue of Philadelphia; 6 grandchildren: John Clark (Stephanie), Brian Clark (Elizabeth), Eddie McCue (Stephanie), Chris Scudder (Becky), Chad Scudder, and Shawn Scudder; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was born on December 8, 1931, in Lorain, OH, the daughter of the late Dr. Benjamin and Edna (Dellinger) Carlson.  She was the wife of 55 years to the late Max E. Mickey who preceded her in death on April 15, 2009 and the wife of the late Rev. Lawrence Hard who proceeded her in death on April 11, 2014.
Alice attended Otterbein College and earned her Bachelors degree from Mansfield University.  She was an Elementary Art Teacher for the Wellsboro School District for 27 years.  She was a founding member of Vesta, a local art group.  Family always came first for Alice.  Her family and her art were her passions.
She is survived by daughters Judy Mickey Watson of Wellsboro, Ann Mickey Miller and husband Scott, also of Enola, PA; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Mickey of Little Compton, RI; six grandchildren, Lauren, Sarah and Christopher Mickey, Andrew Watson, Max and Hannah Miller; five great-grandchildren, Emma Morick, Xavier Kuntz, Lila Kuntz, Daryn Sullivan, John Mickey Sullivan.
Along with her husbands and parents, Alice was preceded in death by a son, Captain John Mickey, a brother, Benjamin Carlson Jr., and sisters, Mary Cay Wells and Dr. Ann Brown.

He owned and operated Windsor Plant Mall in NJ, and enjoyed the creative aspects of designing and decorating his garden center. Leon was raised Catholic and had been a member of St. Hedwig's Catholic Church. He loved watching his son play baseball, enjoyed duck hunting, and was an avid fisherman. Leon is survived by his wife: Geraldine, of Wellsboro; two sons: Jeffrey Mazur (Janet) of Mercerville, NJ, and Garret Mazur (Sally) of Kendall Park, NJ; a daughter: Maryann T. Obituary Preview: Kathleen Diane (Dorwart) Snyder, 75 of Wellsboro, passed away early Thursday March 3, 2022 at the Green Home in Wellsboro. She was born February 14, 1947 in Harrisburg to Percy Ner and Catherine Elizabeth (Peters) Dorwart. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Wellsboro, she sang in the church choir, and loved helping make the salads the church sells. She enjoyed taking day trips to visit friends and family, visiting The Windmill in Penn Yan, NY, but most of all she enjoyed the community of Wellsboro, and sharing in the beauty of the area. Kathleen is survived by her husband Larry Snyder; two sons: John Hoover (Annette Dutchess) of Wellsboro and Larry Christopher Snyder (Karen) of Harrisburg; 3 daughters: Amanda Lee of Bloomsburg, Kimberley Snyder (Scott Slocum) of Shippensburg, and Courtney Snyder Ng (Kuwn) of Ann Arbor, MI; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother: James Dorwart of Etters; and a sister: Elaine Garman of Harrisburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Robert and Allen Dorwart, a sister: Carol Spahr, and a grandson. Obituary Preview: Anna M. Rose, 87, of Wellsboro passed away Saturday February 26, 2022 at the Green Home, Wellsboro.  She was born March 4, 1934 in Wellsboro, the daughter of the late Ferrand and Kathryn (Dean) Lewis.
Anna was a graduate of Charleston High School and at one time worked for Wundies, Wellsboro and for the Radisson, Corning.  She also enjoyed ceramics, cooking and baking, especially her sour cream cookies.
Surviving are daughters, Cheryl A. (Jim) Wilbur of Millerton; Carole (Dick) Frank 0f Turbotville; a son, Dale (Gerri) Rose of McKinney, TX; a brother, Dean Lewis of Tioga; sisters, Norma Heck of Tioga; Phyliss Hilfiger of Gillett; grandchildren; Jordan (Andrea) LaFavor, Jared Frank, Jessica Frank, Andrea Frank, Rachel (Brandon) Hacker, Caitlin Rose, and Adam Rose, a grandson-in-law, Ken Sausser, 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ciara Sausser, a brother, Ralph Lewis, and sisters, Hazel Atkinson, Hilda Patterson, Shirley Rose, and Jane Hilfiger.
A memorial service will be held for Anna as well as for her sisters, Hazel, Jane and Hilda, on Sunday March 20, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Tioga American Legion, 18536 PA-287, Tioga, PA 16946.  Family suggests memorial contributions in Anna’s name be made to the Northern Tioga County Centennial Lion’s Club, 118 Trowbridge Station Rd., Millerton, PA 16936.

Herman was killed serving in WW II, and John was raised by his mother and his step-father Carl Krotzer. John graduated from Canton High School, and on February 15, 1959 married Charlene Clark. He used his aptitude for troubleshooting and fixing things to build a career in engineering working for many local firms, but primarily for Mergenthaler Linotype in Wellsboro, he ultimately retired from Brodart in Williamsport. John had been an active member of the Wellsboro United Methodist Church, serving on committees and using his talents on various projects. He enjoyed model airplanes, and used his free time constantly engaged in projects and fixing things. He is survived by his son: Lyle Scholtz of Concord, NH, a daughter: Vickie Christian (Bill) of Wellsboro, 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a sister: Deborah Barnes Zachery of Elmira, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son: Daryl Scholtz and his brother: Edward Scholtz. She enjoyed watching her sons race at Woodhull, spending winters in Florida, and country music, but most of all she loved her family. Obituary Preview: Lois A. Cole, 87, of Wellsboro, passed away Friday February 11, 2022 at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.  She was Born November 14, 1934 in Wellsboro, the daughter of the late Ransom and Gertrude (Ogden) Bailey. She was the wife of the late Richard S. Cole.
Lois was a graduate of Wellsboro High School and enjoyed sewing and reading.
Lois is survived by her daughter and son in law, Laurene and Russell Moore of Stafford, VA.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Ransom “Rick” Cole and sisters, Sherry Bailey and Mary Ann Levanduski.

David was a graduate of Wellsboro High School, Class of 1965 and was self employed as a truck driver.  He served in the Army Reserves for six years and was a former member of the Ironhead Bike Club.  He enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting, shooting his guns, and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are a daughters, Kelly Clemens of Austin, TX; Michele (Kevin) McNett of Wellsboro; a son, Tim Martin of Wellsboro; a brother, Ronald Clemens of Wellsboro; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by sons, Jim “J.J.” Martin and Michael Clemens, and his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Deb Clemens.
At David’s request there will be no visitation.  A graveside service at the Whitneyville Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Max was a graduate of Liberty High School, Class of 1954 and was an Air Force Veteran.  Max worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction and also worked for PennDot for 10 years.  He was a member of the Friedens Lutheran “Brick” Church, Liberty and was a member of the Knights of Pythias and Black Wolf Rod & Gun Club, both in Liberty.
Surviving are a daughters, Sheila (Ric (deceased)) Kimble Haas of Las Cruces, NM; Lisa (Jim) Bennett of Montoursville; a son Max E. Kimble, Jr. of Portland, OR; a step daughter, Linda (Dave) Livingston of Williamsport, PA; step sons, Craig Fassett of Morris PA; Todd Fassett of Fletcher, OK; a brother, Robert Kimble of Bellefonte, PA; a sister, Mary Cerrutti of Sayre, PA: six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was born April 11, 1937 to Roscoe and Esther (Walker) Kelley in Elmira, NY. On February 12, 1956, she married Joseph Nagy with whom she shared 55 years of marriage before his death in 2011. Judith was a member of the Keeneyville United Methodist Church, faithfully volunteered at the Middlebury Township polls for elections, worked as an x-ray technician, in the butcher department of Owlett's Market in Keeneyville, co-owned and operated the Personal Service Meat Market in Middlebury Center, worked at Sears and Wal Mart. Judy was an avid gardener and canner, and a marvelous cook often making use of her own produce. She had an outgoing personality and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Judith is survived by two sons: David Nagy (Cindy) of Millerton, and Thomas Nagy (Rebecca) of Sabinsville; a daughter: Valerie Chilson (Greg) of Beaver Dams, NY; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a brother: Jack Kelley (Nina) of Pine City, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son: Michael Nagy, a granddaughter: Hannah Chilson, a great-granddaughter: Avery Hall, and a sister: Barbara Spencer. In accordance with her wishes, following her burial in Bath National Cemetery there will be a private memorial service. William Paul Reich - May 01, 1939 - February 02, 2022

Obituary Preview: On February 2, 2022, Dr. William P. Reich passed away at his home in Wellsboro. He was 82.
He was born on May 1, 1939, in Lincoln, Nebraska, son of the late Rev. Phillip Reich and Katherine Scholl Reich.
Dr. Reich was formerly the Director of Pathology at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, now part of UPMC, and retired June 2014 after a 42-year practice.
Dr. Reich did his undergraduate studies at Montana State University with a BA in Chemistry, and graduated from the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington in 1965 with a Doctor of Medicine degree. After a year internship at Good Samaritan Hospital, Portland, OR, he completed a four-year residency in combined anatomical and clinical pathology at the University of Washington Hospital System with fellowships in clinical microbiology and clinical chemistry at the National Institutes of Health. He became board certified in anatomical and clinical pathology in 1971.
In addition to his professional life, Dr. Reich was an avid outdoorsman and greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also practiced various artistic and artisan pursuits, including drawing, painting, crafting knives and building reproduction early American muzzleloaders. He was an accomplished baker of yeast breads and cinnamon rolls. He had a strong interest in american and world history and archeology. Dr. Reich supplemented his pursuits and interests as an avid reader and movie watcher, especially enriching his historical interests and his travels.
He was a very devoted father and husband who always enjoyed spending time and traveling with his family.
He is survived by his wife Carol H. Reich of 19 years, son, Steven W. Reich of Fairfax, VA, daughter, Laura M. Reich, DO, of Philadelphia, PA and stepson, William Lockhart (Amanda) and two step-grandsons, Alex and Max, of Washington, DC as well as his brother, Robert Reich (Susan) of San Antonio, Texas and brother-in law, John Hall (Maureen), Rochester, NY.
A memorial service will be held at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home on February 12, 2022 at 11:00 am.

Surviving are sons, Eugene (Maria) Eberly of East Stroudsburg; Allen (Elizabeth) Eberly of Westfield; daughters, Janice Eberly of Ozark, AL; Margaret (Joe) Wilde of Westfield; Ruth (Don) Watts of Florence, SC; a daughter-in-law, Karen Eberly of Mansfield; a brother, Joseph (Jean) Eberly, sisters, Alice Horst and Anna Mary Oberholtzer, 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wives and parents, Titus was preceded in death by sons, Leroy and David Eberly, a daughter, Brenda Shannon, brothers, Paul, James and Daniel Eberly, sisters, Lena Sauder and Susanna Bicher, and a great grandson, Jacob Bell.
