Beverly Robinson - October 19, 1949 - April 21, 2022

Departed: 04/21/2022 (Amarillo)
Obituary Preview: Sometimes a light will shine so bright, even when it is no longer present, a glow is left behind. That is what Beverly Jeanne Hughes Robinson has done as she departed from this earth April 21, 2022.
Beverly was born in Clovis, NM on October 19, 1949 to Leroy and Christine Hughes but moved and grew up in the small community of Hartley, TX. She is one of five beloved siblings and was the second oldest. They grew up in the small farming community where Beverly was known as a vivacious, fun-loving daughter, sister, friend, and athlete. She met  and began dating the love of her life, Randal, in high school in that small community. They began their own legacy once they married on October 3,1970  but stayed deeply connected to both of their core families.  With Randal, they had three children of their own, Todd, Brooke, and Jeff. They spent many years out on the ranch experiencing a rich life, not void of adventure. Beverly could jump a snake to get in the house and then jump that same snake again to kill it. She wasn’t afraid to drop her kids off on the dirt road and make them walk home while she drove ahead in order to get them over their fighting or bad manners.. all while giggling the rest of the way home because she really didn’t get that mad. She could decorate a small farmhouse or a new brick home and either way, it felt warm and welcoming and… well… like home. She could make a garden look like a magazine cover, but it still be a place kids and dogs could romp and tromp.
They left the country life behind and moved to Amarillo in 1983 where  they  finished raising their children and have been since, creating a life filled with love, service, and Jesus. Beverly loved her family and friends and the only thing she loved more was her Savior. When she could combine the two, her life was near perfection. Whether doing hair at the salon, going to serve on the reservations of New Mexico with her sister and niece; attending women’s functions with her daughter and family; or sitting on her back porch with her bible open praying for the rest of us, if she could be loving on people with her love of Jesus, she was content. And it is with that knowledge that we find hope that her body is whole and perfected, and she will spend her eternity doing the things she loved the most right beside our Savior.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Christine Hughes, her grandson, Eathan Robinson, and some beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She is survived by her sweetheart, Randal Robinson, of the home; Todd Robinson (Robin) of Houston, Brooke Scott (Mitchell) of Amarillo, and Jeff Robinson (Misti) of Chicago. They are also survived by 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Barbara Kay Morris, Stanley Hughes (Jean), Tinna Hood (Benny), and Bryan Hughes (Laurie) whom she loved so very much; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends… all who loved her deeply and whom have been loved deeply by her.
In memorandum, plant a flower, tend a garden, and definitely tend some hearts for Jesus to honor her legacy. If you are so inclined memorial donations can be sent to  creatingforcare.com/donations to the foundation that honors the legacy of her grandson.

Brian Cota - November 26, 1977 - March 23, 2022

Departed: 03/23/2022 (Amarillo)
Obituary Preview: Brian Douglas Cota, 44, of Pampa, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at The Church at Bushland, with Pastor Merritt Vaughn of Trinity Fellowship Church officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery immediately following. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Monday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Brian (aka Cota) was born November 26, 1977 in Pampa, Texas to Bob and Becky Cota. Eight years later, his family became complete when his sister, Brandi, arrived. Brandi was the light of his world, he protected her fiercely; there was never sibling rivalry, and he was her hero. He attended Amarillo High School and San Jacinto Christian Academy, where he found his love for basketball and Michael Jordan. During Cota’s adolescence, and perhaps even into adulthood, he was known as quite the class clown. He could outwit anyone and his shenanigans always received the biggest belly laugh from anybody within earshot. It was Cota’s larger-than-life personality, that drew people to him. He was an avid reader of the Bible, knew God’s word, and used it to guide his life path and purpose.
He was a member of the Pampa United Way, Chamber of Commerce, Salvation Army of Borger and always helped the less fortunate. Cota was a natural leader; always working to increase his skills. He read numerous leadership books and applied his learnings. Brian was a leader at Gene Messer in Amarillo for 14 years, and Country Auto Group for the last five years. He worked hard and had a passion for the car business and loved teaching others this passion. Cota was the CEO and Co-founder of his most recent entrepreneurial endeavor, InkIT Live, a game changer for virtual customer service.
When he met the love of his life, Savannah, his whole world shifted. When Savannah and her son Rhyder came into Brian’s life, he was finally whole. He was the happiest he has ever been when they were around. Brian was Rhyder’s biggest baseball fan and they loved magic tricks and video games. Brian and Savannah were best friends, partners in life and crime and had such a bright future ahead of them. Brian had a big heart and could make anyone smile, but it was Savannah’s smile that he loved the most. While he will be greatly missed by all who came into contact with him, he has higher expectations of us. He wants us to laugh, smile, dream big, pace back and forth, create, innovate, and then live out those dreams.
The score has finally been settled, Michael Jordan is the greatest of all time.
Survivors include his girlfriend, Savannah Allen and her son, Rhyder Allen of Amarillo; his parents, Bob and Becky Cota of Amarillo; his sister, Brandi Leach and husband Tanner of Bushland; his nephew, Tracer Leach; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family suggests memorial donations may be made to Rainbow Room of Borger.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It's often used to share information about the deceased with family, friends, and the community.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and remember the deceased, while also providing important information to those who need it. They can help notify people of the passing, provide details about funeral services or memorial events, and offer a sense of closure for loved ones.

Who typically writes an obituary?

The task of writing an obituary usually falls to the family members or close friends of the deceased. In some cases, a funeral home or crematorium may assist with writing the obituary, but it's generally written by someone who knew the person well.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. You may also include information about funeral services, memorial donations, or other relevant details.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication and personal preference. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from a few sentences to a short paragraph.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many publications allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can be a great way to personalize the notice and make it more meaningful to readers.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper or online platform?

The submission process varies depending on the publication or platform. Check their website or contact them directly for specific guidelines and deadlines. Be prepared to provide the written obituary, along with any accompanying photos or payment information.

How much does it cost to publish an obituary?

The cost of publishing an obituary varies widely depending on the publication, length of the notice, and other factors. Expect to pay anywhere from $50 to $500 or more for a single publication.

Can I write my own obituary in advance?

Yes, some people choose to write their own obituary in advance as a way to have control over how they're remembered. This can be a therapeutic exercise and help alleviate some of the burden on your loved ones after you're gone.

What's the difference between an obituary and a death notice?

A death notice is typically a brief announcement of someone's passing, often without additional biographical information. An obituary, on the other hand, provides more detail about the person's life and accomplishments.

Should I include humor in an obituary?

If the deceased had a great sense of humor, it's perfectly fine to inject some humor into the obituary. This can help celebrate their personality and make the notice more engaging for readers.

Can I include quotes or lyrics in an obituary?

Absolutely! Quotes, lyrics, or poems can add depth and meaning to an obituary. Choose something that resonates with the person's values or personality.

How do I handle sensitive or difficult information in an obituary?

If there are sensitive or difficult aspects of the person's life that you're not sure how to address in the obituary, consider consulting with family members or close friends for guidance. Be honest and respectful in your approach.

Can I update or correct an obituary after it's been published?

In most cases, corrections can be made if there are errors in the original publication. However, updates or changes may not always be possible once the obituary has been printed or posted online.

How long does it take for an obituary to be published?

The timeframe for publication varies depending on the publication's schedule and deadlines. Online platforms may post the obituary immediately, while print newspapers may take several days or even weeks.

Can I request that certain information be withheld from an obituary?

Yes, you can certainly request that certain details be omitted from the obituary. This might include sensitive personal information or other data that you prefer not to share publicly.

Are there any specific guidelines for writing an obituary for a child or young adult?

Writing an obituary for someone who has passed away at a young age can be especially challenging. Focus on celebrating their life and accomplishments, and consider including stories or anecdotes that highlight their personality and spirit.

Can I include information about memorial donations in an obituary?

Absolutely! Many people choose to include information about memorial donations in lieu of flowers. This can be a meaningful way to honor the deceased and support a worthy cause.

How do I ensure that my loved one's obituary is accurate and complete?

To ensure accuracy and completeness, gather all necessary information before writing the obituary. Verify dates, names, and other details with family members or official documents whenever possible.

What's the best way to share an obituary on social media?

You can share an obituary on social media by copying and pasting the text into a post or creating a link to the online version. Be respectful of your audience and consider adding a personal message or photo to make it more engaging.

Can I write an obituary for someone who has passed away under difficult circumstances?

Yes, it's possible to write a compassionate and respectful obituary even in challenging situations. Focus on celebrating the person's life and highlighting their positive qualities and achievements.

How do I find inspiration for writing an exceptional obituary?

Read examples of well-written obituaries online or in local newspapers for inspiration. You can also reflect on your own memories and experiences with the deceased to craft a unique and meaningful tribute.

What's the role of an obituary in the grieving process?

An obituary can play a significant role in helping loved ones process their grief by providing a sense of closure and allowing them to celebrate the person's life. It can also serve as a way to share news of the passing with others who may not have been aware.

Can I write multiple versions of an obituary for different audiences?

If you need to share news of the passing with different groups or communities (e.g., work colleagues vs. close friends), you may want to create multiple versions of the obituary tailored to each audience.
