Obituary Preview: Allen Richard Duits, 82, of Biloxi, MS, formerly of Washington, IL, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024 at Singing River Health System in Pascagoula, MS.
He was born August 30, 1941 in Peoria, IL to Edward R. and Ruth H. Mahrt Duits.  He married Bernadine L. Hickman in Peoria on August 30, 1969.  She preceded him in death on November 30, 2008.  He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Fran Pisel; and son-in-law, Kevin Donlan.
Surviving are five daughters, Donna Gillespie, Deanna (Don) Witzel, Stephanie Donlan, Nancy Ybarra, Allyn (Brandon) Schmidt; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Allen was a United States Army Veteran serving in Fort Knox.  Allen grew up in Washington, IL.  He attended Washington Grade School and graduated from Washington Community High School class of 1959.  Allen and Bernadine raised their family in Sunnyland and moved to Biloxi, MS in 1992.
He had a love of auto racing from the time he was a kid and served on many pit crews.  He enjoyed playing and attending sports of all kinds, especially watching his children and grandkids play.  He served as umpire of NTRA softball when his daughter Allyn played.  While Allen had a love for sports, his main love was spending time with his family.
He worked many years in management of grocery stores and was a Manager and District Manager of Stewart Oil.  When he moved to Mississippi he went to work in the Casino Gaming Industry until retiring in 2011.

Bruce Fitzgerald - March 12, 1945 - April 24, 2024

Obituary Preview: Bruce Fitzgerald, 79, of Washington, Illinois, passed to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
Bruce was born March 12, 1945, in St. Paul, Minnesota to William and Mary Fitzgerald and grew up in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.  He served in the United States Navy from 1963-1967 and was stationed on the U.S.S. Enterprise aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War.  He married Linda Liesman on November 15, 1969, in Elkhart, Illinois.  Together they had two beloved sons, Scott, and Brandon (BJ).
Bruce was preceded in death by his son Brandon (BJ) and his parents.  He is survived by his wife Linda, son Scott (Stephanie) Fitzgerald, grandchildren Genevieve Mabe, Elijah Mabe, Landon Mabe, and Cole Fitzgerald, and his brother Bill (Bonnie) Fitzgerald.
Over the course of his life, Bruce’s main employers were Caterpillar and Mangold Ford. In retirement, he volunteered his time to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Washington and his son’s business, Fitzgerald Painting and Remodeling.  Family and faith were the most important things in his life.  When we remember him, we remember his compassion and gratitude.  He loved to serve the youth of his church and was a youth group leader for many years, attending gatherings and going on mission trips.  He was always looking to give rather than receive.
Bruce and his family were fortunate enough to enjoy traveling.  His favorite trip was a roadtrip with his wife and two sons to the Badlands, the Black Hills, Yellowstone, and the Tetons.
Visitation will be on Sunday, April 28 from 4-6 pm at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.  Funeral services will be held at Cana Lutheran Church in Washington at 11am on Monday, April 29.

Dolores "DeeDee" Pullen - September 20, 1937 - April 22, 2024

Obituary Preview: Dolores “DeeDee” Pullen, 86, of Washington, IL, formerly of Chicago, passed away Monday, April 22, 2024 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
She was born in Chicago on September 20, 1937 to James and Genie Pollard.  She married Howard Pullen on September 22, 1973 in Chicago.  He preceded her in death on November 28, 1993.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Derrick; two sisters; and one brother. Surviving are her step-daughter, Toni Pullen; daughter-in-law and caretaker, Christine Kahl; five grandchildren, Rashaad (Vayyinah), Lindsay (Warner), Andrew, Keaira, and Victoria; three great-grandchildren, AaQuilah, Rashaad Jr., and Ava; a niece and a nephew.
She worked at Quam-Nichols Company in Chicago for 25 years before retiring. She maintained strong friendships throughout the years with her many co-workers. During retirement, she stayed busy working part-time as a home aide for seniors and most recently, a receptionist at a Senior Center.
DeeDee had a very vibrant personality, showcased her own personalized style and was unapologetically her “authentic” self. She loved music and dancing.  She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.  DeeDee cared deeply about others and shared her faith and love of life with all. She will be dearly missed.
Cremation has been accorded.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Donald E. Peterson - March 27, 1926 - April 15, 2024

Obituary Preview: Donald E. Peterson, 98, of Peoria, formerly of Morton, passed away at 2:20pm on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Proctor Place in Peoria.
He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Phyllis, whom he married March 20, 1948; together, they had one beloved son, Mark, who passed away in 2013.
He is also survived by their extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Don was born March 27, 1926 in Peoria to the late Oscar and Mary Keirl Peterson. He graduated from Woodruff High School, where he and Phyllis met, in 1944. He entered the US Navy following graduation, serving until his honorable discharge in 1946. After returning home, he earned a degree from Bradley University in 1950 and enjoyed many years of service at Caterpillar. Don enjoyed travel, especially to Branson, and antiquing. was a member of the Cat Retirees’ Club and First United Methodist Church in Peoria.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:30am Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.

Winifred "Winnie" J. Ebert - April 18, 1928 - April 09, 2024

Obituary Preview: Winifred Johnson Ebert (Winnie), 95, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Villas of Hollybrook.  Winnie was born April 18, 1928 in Peoria to the late Frank W. Werckle and Winifred Werckle. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Nancy McNear.
She married William (Bill) Ebert on October 8, 1949. They resided in Washington, IL and enjoyed almost 73 years of a beautiful and loving marriage until his death in 2022.
Surviving are her daughters, Elizabeth (Ray) Laughlin and Ellen (Dave) Dingledine, all of Washington. She has five grandchildren, Emily (Alex) Mueller, Erica Laughlin, Travis (Margaret), Grant, and Gavin Dingledine, four great-grandchildren and a niece, Virginia McNear.
Winnie attended Peoria schools and Bradley University where she majored in Math. She was a charter member of the Illinois Theta chapter of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity.
She loved her community and giving back to it by volunteering and holding leadership positions in PEO Sisterhood Chapter HG, Washington Women’s Club, Washington Historical Society, Home Bureau, Town & Country Garden Club, Fine Arts Society of Peoria, and Peoria Symphony Guild. Winnie and Bill also co-chaired the Washington Sesquicentennial Celebration in 1975. Winnie was a long-time member of the Washington Presbyterian Church serving in many leadership positions and sang in the church choir which she loved dearly.
Her hobbies included the Kaufman Park Ladies Golf League, tennis, gardening, aquarobics, numerous bridge clubs and traveling around the world with her husband. She loved to always keep learning and enjoyed making new friends wherever she went.
Winnie was an amazing and loving wife, mother, Grandma and Great-Grandma. Her smiles were endless with her sparkling beautiful blue eyes and had a never-ending positive energetic attitude. She always found the good in life which brightened the lives of her family and many cherished friends.
Visitation will be held at 10am Tuesday, April 16 at Washington Presbyterian Church followed by a Celebration service at 11:30 am. Private inurnment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.   Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born April 10, 1953 in Plainview, TX to Benton and Pearl (Suedekum) Brown.  He married Randy S. Ploense in Mossville on June 30, 1972.  She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mary (Brad) Gordon, Sam (Jeremy) Robbins; three grandchildren, Josh Robbins, Carey (Troy Samp) Robbins, Brooke Gordon; two sisters, Edna Wood, Pat McCaleb; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother, Tommy.
Alan, known as “Old Man”, worked at Crown Lift Trucks in Bloomington, retiring in 2017.  He enjoyed traveling with Randy, riding bicycles, NASCAR, and spending time with friends and family.  He will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7pm Thursday, April 11th at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.  A private service will be held.

Obituary Preview: Mark A. Yakle, 44, of Washington, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.
He was born on January 16, 1980, in Peoria, to Maurice William and Patricia “Ann” (Rhoads) Yakle, who preceded him in death.
He leaves behind his siblings, Greg (Ann) Yakle, Tammi (Dan) Hagan, Stacy (James) Campbell, and Brad (Malia) Yakle, along with his beloved nieces, nephews, and their families.
Mark was an ardent Notre Dame super-fan, a passion evident in the collection of jerseys and hats that filled his wardrobe. He treasured the times he spent attending Notre Dame football games with his father, brothers, and friends. When baseball season came around, his loyalty shifted to the St. Louis Cardinals, attending games whenever possible and otherwise following the team fervently on TV. Mark found solace in the worlds of James Patterson and John Grisham novels during the off- season or whenever he couldn't enjoy a round of frisbee golf. Family and friends were Mark's treasure, with holidays holding a special place in his heart. A unique Christmas tradition saw Mark joining Santa on his rounds, sometimes donning a Ralphie bunny costume. Professionally, Mark dedicated many years to Lindy’s Downtown Market as a Produce Manager before taking on a role as a team lead at Rivian in recent years.
Mark's kind heart, steadfast work ethic, and deep faith were the pillars of his life. He lived with gratitude, emulating Christ’s love through his acts of kindness. Mark's radiant smile and spirit brightened the lives of all who knew him, leaving a world dimmed by his absence.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. A eulogy and service celebrating his life is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the same location. Mark will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.

Carl H. Enloe - April 26, 1931 - April 02, 2024

Carl was born April 26, 1931 in Enon, MO to the late Roy and Marble Roth Enloe. He married Joyce Pope in Buffalo, MO on May 3, 1952; she preceded him in death in 2006.
He was also preceded in death by his children, infants Carla and Marsha Enloe, Leroy Enloe, and Becky Brashers and her husband James; grandson, Justin Brashers; and his siblings, Opal, Gene, and Gail.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Patti Enloe; grandchildren, Denise, Stephen, and CJ; great-grandchildren, Maryana, Marissa, and Macy; and his siblings, Harold, Raymond, Ellen Rose, and Linda.
Carl entered the US Army in 1952, serving in the Korean era. He went on to retire from WABCO as a welder. He was a previous member of First Baptist Church of Washington. He loved his family and was an excellent role model for them.
A funeral service with military honors will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be from 4-5:30pm Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.

Dale Clark - August 25, 1956 - March 30, 2024

Dale was born August 25, 1956 in Morris to the late Gilbert and Sue Coleman Clark; he is survived by his sisters, Lori Clark (Norm Peterson) of Chicago and Holly Snyder (the late Gary) of Washington; his aunt Beth Clampitt and his uncle Bob Coleman both of Morris, his extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews, and his friends.
Dale loved to drive almost anything—from cars to motorcycles to demolition derbies to concrete mixers at Maxco and Roanoke Concrete.  He also loved to spend time with friends puttering around with cars and most anything else that needed “fixing.”  Dale had a big personality and enjoyed what life had to offer. From fishing to scuba diving, he did the things that he loved. Whether it was playing a game of poker, watching the Cubs and Bears play, or riding his Harley, Dale made sure it was a good time.
A time to celebrate his life will be from 5-7:00pm Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Dale will be laid to rest next to his parents at a private inurnment at Evergreen Cemetery in Morris.

Surviving are her 4 children; Jan (Scott) Jahnel of Washington,IL, Jill (Ray) Mohr of Danvers, IL, Jon Alexander of Washington, IL, and Jay (Shannon) Alexander of Eureka, MO; her 8 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
In her early years Carol loved to play golf, bingo, and paint. She attended Eureka United Methodist Church and she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Gene Harlan Hobbs - June 12, 1939 - March 28, 2024

Obituary Preview: Eugene “Gene” Harlan Hobbs, 84 of Washington, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 28, 2024. He was born on June 12, 1939, in Fancy Farm, Kentucky to Lloyd and
Pauline Hobbs. Gene was a standout basketball and baseball player for the Fancy Farm Golden Gophers. He earned Honorable Mention on The Courier-Journal All-State Basketball Team in 1955, averaging 30 points per game “without a 3-point line,” as he would always remind his family. Even though Gene was a standout basketball player, he may have been better at baseball, batting a nifty .450. While in Fancy Farm, Gene found the love of his life, Shirley Shanks. They married April 2, 1956, and moved to Peoria,
IL where they started their family. Gene is survived by Shirley, his wife of 68 years, children Becky (Bob) Armstrong, Don (Karen) Hobbs, Sue (Nigel) Shannon, Cindy (Dan) Venegonia, Steve (Angie) Hobbs, and Chris (Wendy) Hobbs, 18
grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one sister, Sue Pierceall. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Hobbs; daughter, Karen Monk; great grandson, Peyton Armstrong, two brothers, Harold and Johnny Hobbs; and two sisters, Pat Willett and Linda
Medley. Gene retired from Caterpillar in 2001 after 20 years in skilled trades. Gene and Shirley are long time members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Gene was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed volunteering during the Friday fish fry dinners. Gene loved having family dinners and parties where he was able to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved the St. Louis
Cardinals and never missed a game. A service celebrating Gene’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at St. Patricks
Church, Washington IL. Inurnment will follow at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton. Father John Steffens will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM at the church. Beverly A. Paluska - October 19, 1946 - March 22, 2024

Bev was born October 19, 1946 in Peoria to the late Ralph and Virginia Wright Gauwitz. She married the love of her life, Roy "Tom" Paluska, Jr. on January 21, 1967 in Washington; they shared 56 years together until he preceded her in death on February 2, 2023.
She is survived by her children, Matthew Paluska, Gina Antoinette (Tyler) Goostree, Michelle (Scott) Olson, Scott (Tiffany) Paluska; eight grandchildren, Daniel Sawchuk, Grace Sawchuk, Ian Olson, Jamie Olson, Samuel Paluska, Benjamin Paluska, Noah Paluska, Nathan Paluska; and three brothers, Ralph Gauwitz Jr., Charlie (Linda) Gauwitz, and Mike Gauwitz; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Thomas Sawchuk.
Over the years, Bev worked as an administrative assistant for CILCO/Ameren and OSF St. Francis; she enjoyed the challenge of those jobs. She had many talents, including quilting, sewing, and cake making; she sewed clothing for her children and often fulfilled special cake requests for others. Her faith in Jesus colored her everyday life and she was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, participating in Bible studies, choir, and TEC/Cursillo. She loved collecting frogs, watching hot air balloons and fireworks, following Illini basketball. She led her childrens' Girl Scout troops and coached them at bowling league.  Most of all, she loved her grandkids.
Bev loved stars, frogs and Illini basketball, and will leave us wearing stars. Feel free to honor her by wearing apparel with these themes.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am on April 4, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Father John Steffen will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm on April 3, 2024 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, with additional visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.

Judith Hart - March 20, 1942 - March 21, 2024

Obituary Preview: Judy Hart, 82, of Morton, passed away at 2:33pm Thursday, March 21, 2024 at her home with her family present.
She was born March 20, 1942 in Bloomington to the late Glendon and Lola Clesson Arvin. She married Gale S. Zaborac on July 27, 1982; he preceded her in death in 2012.
Surviving are her children, Steven (Laura) Hart and Stephanie Hart (Mark); her granddaughter Emily (Eric) Esser; two great-grandsons; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Arvin.
She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Larry and Owen Arvin.
Judy was a proud Mary Kay consultant for over 35 years. She also operated her own accounting firm, serving area contractors since 1990. As a result of growing up with two brothers, she liked fast cars and enjoyed watching NASCAR and Formula One racing. She remained very active, regularly bicycling and attending BodyFlow classes at FivePoints. Judy had an abiding faith in Jesus and was a member of Eastside Bible Church in Morton serving on the video team.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00am Saturday,  April 6, 2024 at Eastside Bible Church in Morton, with a reception to follow at the church. Private inurnment will be at Hirstein Cemetery in rural Morton.

Art William Wurster - December 01, 1948 - March 19, 2024

Obituary Preview: Art Wurster, 75, of Washington, passed away at 3:03pm Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Carle Health Methodist in Peoria.
Art was born December 1, 1948 in Peoria to the late Chester A. and Doris J. Raines Wurster.
He is survived by his son, Jason (Jennifer) Wurster of St. Joseph, MI; his three granddaughters - who meant the world to him - Addison, Mia, and Megan; his sisters, Barb (Mike) McCoskey of Washington and Diane (Les) Whaley of Irmo, SC.
He was also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Teri Jo.
Art retired from Caterpillar after many years of service. He served in the Army National Guard where, according to a newspaper clipping we found, he wore a short hair wig to cover up his long hair. Art enjoyed: fresh air and cigarettes, cold beers and his middle finger, reading good books and complaining about bad ones, Gypsy Road and the F Word. Short walks to the parking lot and long naps on the couch, warm beaches and being a pain in the ass. He tolerated the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears, to a lesser degree.
Family will receive friends from 5-7:00pm Friday, April 12, 2024 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. His brother-in-law, Mike McCoskey will close the gathering with remembrances of Art. Cremation rites have been accorded.
The family would also like to thank the staff at Carle Health, OSF, and St. Anthony Hospital for their daily kindness and patience.

She was born January 10, 1950 in Peoria to Anton and Mary (Skuratko) Kobylanski.  She married Tony Gavelys in Peoria on August 31, 1968.  He survives.
Also surviving are three children, Misi (Ryan) Inskeep of Prophetstown, Chad (Leslie) Gavelys of Yates City, Andy Gavelys of Yates City; five grandchildren, Lindsey (Aaron Heaton) Inskeep, Zach (Breanna) Inskeep, Carissa, Carmen, and Carter Gavelys; three great-grandchildren, Hudson, Nolan, and Dax Inskeep; sister, Genie (Loyd) Hurn; brother, Frank (Nancy Koch) Kobylanski; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant brother.
Janis worked for AT&T for 30 years. She started her career as a directory assistance operator and retired as a customer account specialist. Janis loved being with her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and Tony enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren taking them on trips and attending their school events. She had a way of making Christmas magical for the family. She was known for her numerous Christmas trees and her Department 56 Christmas villages display.
Janis enjoyed spending time outdoors, being in the sunshine and bicycling with her friends. She valued the friendships in her life and enjoyed the time she spent reconnecting with her Manual High School classmates. Janis enjoyed traveling. She and Tony saw much of the United States from Alaska to Hawaii plus several trips and cruises to the Caribbean and two trips to Europe. She was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria.
Janis will be forever remembered and forever loved. She will leave a legacy of love and warmth by all who knew her.
Her funeral service will be held at Noon Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.  Visitation will be from 10am to Noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Fellowship to follow at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria.

Obituary Preview: James L. Schmitt, 101, of Peoria, IL, formerly of Washington, Metamora, and Quincy, IL, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Thursday, March 14, 2024 at his winter home in Lakeland, FL.
He was born August 28, 1922 in Quincy to the late Lawrence A. and Florence Menke Schmitt. He married Jean Kircher on August 6, 1945 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on June 21, 1967. He later married Veronica Mailloux Theine on April 29, 1972 in Washington. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, John, James (and Barbara), and Jeffrey (and Elizabeth); one daughter, Judith Schmeling; three Theine step children, Bruce, Jeanmarie, Douglas (and Sukyi); step daughter-in-law, Michelle; 11 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 18 great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph; and step sons, James and Charles.
James was a United States Army WWII Veteran serving as a Meteorologist. He continued serving in the Air Force Reserve, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He attended Quincy University and received a bachelor’s of science degree in Engineering from Marquette University in 1947 and was a registered engineer in IL. He worked in engineering for Peerless Pump Div. FMC in Indianapolis from 1947 until 1954, and for Caterpillar Inc in East Peoria, IL until retirement in 1985. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and served as chairman of the Central IL Section. As a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers he served as chairman of the Hydraulics Subcommittee. He was a life member of Pi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Pi.
He lived in Washington, IL from 1954 until 1977. As a member of St. Patrick’s Church he served as Cubmaster, Scoutmaster and Institutional Representative. He lived at Lake Santa Fe, Metamora until 2001 and served on committees as Vice President and President. He was also the chairman of the Emergency Preparedness Committee for Woodbrook Mobile Home Community in Lakeland, FL and a member of the Peoria Color Camera Club.
He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria, IL and Resurrection Catholic Church in Lakeland, FL.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6pm Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, IL, with remembrances to follow. Funeral Mass will be at 11am Friday, March 22, 2024 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria, IL, with military honors rendered. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to Mass from 10 to 11am at church on Friday. Cremation will be accorded with a graveside service at Glendale Cemetery in Washington, IL at 10am Saturday, March 23, 2024.

He was born in Peoria, IL 2/22/44 to Frank Norman and Alice Marie Almasy-Hall. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 2 brothers.  He was a longtime custodian at a local Tap in Bartonville, IL, retiring in 2015.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat.  He was an avid train enthusiast with an encyclopedic knowledge of the history of the US railway. He particularly enjoyed going with family to watch trains at various spots throughout central Illinois. Additionally, he was very passionate about the historical conservation of the Gettysburg Battlefield, and donated to the American Battlefield Trust routinely. The family of Freddie  would like to thank the staff of The Loft in Eureka, as well as the wonderful hospice staff at Vitas Health, for their excellent care and support of Freddie.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John Kern and James Kern; and sister-in-law, Belinda Kern.
Donna was a graduate of Washington Community High School, and went on to earn degrees from Bradley University, ISU, and Aurora University. She enjoyed a very successful career with Caterpillar until her retirement and had the distinction of being the first woman to complete Cat's Engineering Apprenticeship program. She was a devoted Christian, serving in prison ministry and as an active member of Riverside Community Church. She loved to work out and socialize at Five Points, spend time with her dogs, and was an excellent cook and hostess. Donna always carried a positive outlook on life, sharing that with all she met. Her kind and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Louis (Peggy) Rathbun, Jr., Ken (Rita) Rathbun, Ron Rathbun, Evey (Ralph) Richman, Laurie (Frank) Neenan, Jo (Jack) Reisner, Pat (Nick) Burbach, Jimmy Rathbun (infant), Steve (Marsha) Rathbun, and Rick Rathbun.

Doris was born in rural Alabama in 1927 as the 4th of 6 children to Early Mim and Nettie Vee (Pope) Raines.  She married Chester Arthur Wurster in 1945 near Fort Benning, Georgia.  He preceded her in death in August of 1988 after 43 years of marriage.  One brother and three sisters also preceded her in death.  She is survived by her youngest sister, Carolyn (Michael) Corcoran of Seale, Alabama.
Chester and Doris were the parents of Diane (Les) Whaley of Irmo, South Carolina, Art Wurster of Washington, Illinois, and Barbara (Michael) McCoskey also of Washington.
Doris is survived by seven grandchildren; Kim (Whaley) Warnock, Jason Wurster, Scott McCoskey, Brian Whaley, Andy McCoskey, Tim McCoskey, Becky (McCoskey) Kuykendall, and their families.  Her second granddaughter, Teri Wurster preceded her in death.
She is survived by 19 great-grandchildren. One great grandson, Oliver Kuykendall also preceded her in death.  She was the proud great-great-grandmother of Blake Higdon and Hayden Allen.
She spent spring, summer and fall seasons mowing grass, tending flowers, and watching her hummingbirds.  Her winter hours were filled with embroidery, reading Western novels, piecing quilt tops, and listening to Charles Stanley sermons.  She will be dearly missed.
A family graveside service will be held at 2pm Thursday March 14th at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.

He is also survived by 9 great-nieces and great-nephews, William and Delaney Keefe, Andrew, Tyler and Allison Rustemeyer, Mackenzie and Jocelyn Winter and August and Amelia Winter.
Rob was born with cerebral palsy but that didn’t stop him. He was home schooled through the 8th grade and then went to Lincoln Community High School graduating with the class of 1975. He was an avid sports fan rooting for “the Cubbies”, the Bears and his parents' alma mater, Penn State. He lived with his parents the majority of his life and after their passing he moved to a group home with the EPIC organization, where he made many friends and had the time of his life. He was a genuinely happy soul, enjoyed meeting new people and never knew a stranger.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the caregivers at EPIC. Thank you for the loving care you provided while he lived there.

Kristina had a love for music, especially bluegrass; never missing an opportunity to attend a music festival.

Don was born July 28, 1928 to Elmer and Noma (Johnson) Wallace in Plumfield, IL.  He married Lenora J. Moore on May 3, 1947.  She preceded him in death.  Together they had 2 children, Karla (Jerry) Hippen of Germantown Hills, and Bryan (Michelle) Wallace of Bellevue.  He has 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
On January 22, 1980, Don married Carolyn Ward.  She had 3 children and 5 grandchildren, and several great grandkids.  She preceded him in death.  Don was also preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Richard “Dick” Wallace and Charles “Jim” Wallace; 2 sisters, Almeta (Benny) Gunter, and Vera Fay (Ted) Pavloff; 2 nieces, 5 nephews, and 2 step-daughters.
Don served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force in para-rescue during the Korean War.  He returned home to work at Caterpillar where he retired after 30 years of service.  He had a second career working for Robert Cottingham Property Management for over another 30 years.
Besides having two fulltime careers, Don also was a life member and past Commander of the Washington American Legion Post 100.  He served as Chief Steward, and was part of both the grievance and safety committees, and was the chair of the fair practice committee all during his career at Caterpillar.  Don was also part of the East Peoria Auxiliary Police and received the East Peoria Citizens Merit award in 2000.
Don’s passion was playing music on the drums and guitar.  He was a member of multiple local bands over the years.  He even played a few numbers on the drums at his own 90th birthday party.  In his free time, Don enjoyed bowling on several local leagues.

Also surviving are two sons, Jeff (Tricia) Lambrich and Matt Lambrich; four grandchildren, Paige, Brett and Chloe Lambrich, and Kaylee (JD) Jones; and two great-grandchildren, Kaylynne and Connor Jones.
Wayne was a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam War veteran.  He worked at Caterpillar for 30 years, and later at Illinois Central College in security for 13 years before retiring.
He was a life member of VFW Post 2078 in East Peoria and a member of the Mackinaw Valley Long Rifle Association and reenactor for 20 years.  He also enjoyed fishing, cooking, leather crafting, metal detecting, riding his motorcycle and traveling. He will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at 6pm Monday, March 4, 2024 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.  Family will receive friends 2 hours before the service on Monday from 4 to 6pm at the funeral home.  Private inurnment will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.

Surviving is his husband, Mike; his siblings, Diane (Brad) Harding, Kent (Norma) Elliott, and Darlene Elliott; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and his nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Alan Elliott; one nephew; and his beloved dog, Truffles.
Linn grew up on a farm near Lake City and attended Lovington schools. From a young age, two things were nurtured and remained a constant in his life: his love for flowers and his faith. Linn always knew that he wanted to be a florist and at the age of 16 he began to learn his trade, working with local florists willing to take him under their wing. He worked in several shops until he arrived at Becks Florist in 1982; he excelled in customer service as well as design, eventually taking over as owner in 2023. Linn grew up in the Methodist church; his faith was of utmost importance to him, and he never wavered in it. He enjoyed traveling, especially to the east coast, and enjoyed researching family history.
Linn was a man of many talents and a man of character. His optimism, care for others, dedication, and work ethic are some of the hallmarks of his life that will be missed.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30am Wednesday, February 21, 2024  at Mt. Zion Township Cemetery in Mt. Zion, where interment will follow. Rev. Steve Barch will officiate.
