Joan M. Mitchell - January 25, 1934 - January 29, 2023

Departed: 01/29/2023 (Johnson City )
Obituary Preview: Joan May Mitchell born January 25th 1934 in Honesdale PA, formerly of Conklin NY transitioned to life eternal on January 29th 2023. She is predeceased by her parents George and Edna Lobb, her loving husband (Kent) of 66 years and her brother George Lobb Jr. She is survived by her devoted son Stephen (Mechanicsburg PA) and sister Nancy Brown(Binghamton) and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She graduated from nursing school at what was known then as City Hospital in 1954. She later acquired her bachelors in nursing from then S.U.N.Y. Binghamton and her masters from Syracuse University. She was employed at Wilson Memorial Hospital, taught LPN's at B.O.C.E.S and directed people into the proper care situation as a clinical nurse specialist at Broome County CASA organization. She loved all her jobs! Mom also enjoyed trying new recipes and voraciously reading psychological mysteries. Too many books, not enough time. With over 50 years in nursing in the Triple Cities, mom's life touched many people as was her life touched by those she met. She was ever aware of the human condition. It should be noted that her passing was far from peaceful. Cancer is a terrible road to haul. As such we would ask that you consider making a donation in her name to St. Jude's or the American Cancer Society. A graveside service will be held in Center Lisle in May. Family and friends will be kept abreast of when the date is finalized. Love you forever mom. We will miss you dearly.

Anthony R. Sanzo Jr. - September 24, 1957 - January 12, 2023

Departed: 01/12/2023 (Johnson City )
Obituary Preview: Obituary Anthony Richard Sanzo Jr, 65, of Vestal NY passed away on January 12, 2023. He is predeceased by his father Anthony Sanzo Sr and mother, Sandra Meldrum. He is also predeceased by his son Todd Sanzo. He is survived by his wife Renee Sanzo, his daughter Tara (Rodolfo) Espino and son Nathan (Emily) Sanzo. He is also survived by his grandchildren Anthony, Christian, Alyssa, Gabriel, Evangeline, Roman & Mireya Espino and Angelina & Mia Sanzo. Brother in-law Mark (Shari) Malchak and nieces Lindsey and Hailey. Tony leaves behind many cousins including Mark and Lee who he shared many fun times growing up. Lifelong friends: Mike Buglione, Jack OBrien and Marty Kurlich. Tony graduated from Vestal High School where he excelled and loved pitching for the baseball team. His hobbies were playing softball and golf, driving sports cars, riding dirt bikes and 4 wheeling with his friends and family. One of his treasured moments was buying his dream red corvette with his son Todd. Tony was 3rd generation owner / operator of Sanzo Specialties, Inc. He was self-taught and his "genius" came through in all aspects of the business. It was not just a job, it was purpose and calling. He treasured his time there especially 3 oclock coffee hours with Jeff Beam, Steve Appel & anyone else that gathered for good conversation over the best coffee in town. Tony took pleasure in taking care of his family, always making sure they had everything they could possibly want or need. He was brimming with joy when spoiling those closest to him. He took the time to understand everyone he came across, giving his advice and resources to his circle of friends and co- workers. Without being prompted, he would regularly take action and get things done for others. Throughout life he faced many challenges: the unexpected passing of his son and Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis. His courage was inspirational to us all. He always said to make the most of each stage of life and that he did. A special thank you to Danielle, who was his caregiver for 12 years. Also thank you to Christine and Linda who cared for him. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday at 11am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church Vestal. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at 10am until the time of the Mass at church. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Hug your family a little tighter & cherish the days.
