Obituary Preview: James (Jim) Allen Mason died on September 30, 2023, in Newberg, Oregon, surrounded by his family.

Jim was born January 14, 1952, in Vancouver, Washington to Delmar and Ruth Mason. He attended Benson High School, then and all boys technical school, where he ran track. He graduated in 1970. In December of 1972, he married the love of his life, Sandra (Sandy), to whom he was married for nearly 51 years until his death. Jim and Sandy welcomed two sons into their family, Daniel and Christopher, who would later bless them with three grandsons, Jeremiah, Dillon, and Michael.

After graduating high school, Jim began working for Fred Meyer in the print department and served them for over 33 years. After Fred Meyer, Jim went on to work for IKON until 2010 when he suffered a mild stroke leading him into retirement. Jim moved his family from Beaverton to Sherwood, Oregon in 1976 where he helped start New Life Assembly of God and served as a Deacon and Usher.

Jim was a committed father who helped with his sons’ Cub Scout groups and co-coached their indoor and outdoor soccer teams. He was very proud of his family. In 2004, Jim and Sandy moved to Newberg, Oregon to be closer to their grandkids.

Jim loved sports and played basketball and fast-pitch softball. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and camping – especially with his kids and grandkids.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Delmar and mother Ruth. Jim is survived by his wife Sandra; sons Daniel (Tracey) and Christopher; Grandsons Jeremiah, Dillon, and Michael; siblings Leah Mason-Woods, Ralph, David (Robin), and Patty Hunt (Ted); as well as friends and extended family.

He will be missed. In His Grip, we pray – Rest in Peace.

Marylee (Badger) Kelsey - November 06, 1945 - August 23, 2023

Obituary Preview: Heaven has gained an Angel. Marylee (Badger) Kelsey passed away on August 23, 2023. She was the best wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, and friend anyone could ask for. The rock of our family, she embodied kindness, love, and compassion to all that knew her. Our hearts will forever have a hole that could never be filled without her.

Born Tuesday, November 6, 1945, in Portland to Arthur John Badger and Arline Rosalie (Hurst) Badger, she was the youngest of three daughters. Marylee spent her childhood in the West Slope/Beaverton area and attended CE Mason, Merle Davies and graduated from Beaverton High School in 1963. She met Jim in 1962 at a High School dance and they both attended Portland State for 2 years after high school. In 1965, Jim left for Army Reserve Boot Camp and on March 18, 1966, they married. Their first apartment was in Redondo Beach right across the street from the waters of the Puget Sound – what a view they enjoyed! Marylee and Jim moved many times over the years, during which time they built their family beginning with their first beloved Saint Bernard dog, Lady Fredrika of Kelsey aka “Fred”, followed by their five children: Susan, Karin, Karol, Jim & Deirdre in 6 ½ years’ time.

In 1977 they moved for the final time to the family homestead in Beaverton where they enjoyed 45 years making memories with their children, extended family, and friends; including family gatherings, camping, and exploring. Her favorite places were in the outdoors and included the beach, Summer Lake, and her beloved Lake Owyhee. Over the years Marylee worked for Montgomery Ward and First Interstate Bank. She was also a stay-at-home Mom for a few years and often babysat neighborhood kids during this time. After moving to Beaverton, she worked at Sunset High School for a while but finally found her calling and took a job with THPRD as a Program Coordinator at the Tennis Center. She took so much pride in making sure all the tournaments and day-to-day scheduling went off without a hitch and many of her co-workers and players became her second family. After 29 years of service, she finally retired. This meant time to spend with her family, which she loved more than anything. Marylee was also blessed with two best friends since childhood, Beetle & DeDe. She always thought of the three of them as the Three Musketeers.

Marylee is survived by her husband of 57 years & love of her life, Jim Kelsey; her children Susan Kelsey, Karin Madsen (Chris), Karol Johnston (David Watts), Jim Kelsey (Amy), Deirdre Byrne, and Victoria & Doug MacDonald (honorary family); grandchildren Christopher Huffman (Brittany), Alexis Garcia (Miguel), Iain Kelsey Bruning (Phylicia), Patrick Huffman, Sean Byrne (Cheyenne), Samantha Plunkett (Zach), Jenna Young, Morgan Furey, Tiara Allgood (Derrick), and Tanisha Estil; her great-grandchildren Christopher III, Connor, Aila, Lily, Jayce, Jamison, Georgia, Ace, Ariel, Malakai, Mikah, and Ila; her nephews and nieces Kevin Meader (Molly), Scott Meader, Tim Claus, Todd Claus (Kim), Jon Claus (Tomoko), Heather Davidson (Mike), and Shawn Thornton (Blaine); and her best friend Bettylu “Beetle” Watts. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur & Arline Badger, her sisters Jolene Meader and Jeanne Claus, and her best friend DeDe Magee. Obituary Preview: Ruth Elizabeth Vaughan

On the afternoon of July 6, 2023, Ruth passed away from cardiac arrest at her home in Hillsboro, Oregon. She was 87 years old.

Born in Bellingham, Washington on December 25, 1935, Ruth was the third child of Archie and Erva Rairdon. She grew up in Bellingham surrounded by family. Her maternal grandmother lived with them and there were frequent family gatherings with local and visiting relatives.

A good student with excellent grades, Ruth attended Bellingham High School and then Western Washington University where she majored in elementary education. While she was attending college, she met Bill Vaughan, who she later married in August of 1956, after a two-year engagement. They had two children together. In 1968, the family moved permanently to Hillsboro, Oregon, where Ruth worked as a secretary for the superintendent of the Forest Grove School District for 22 years.

Ruth’s faith was a big part of her life. She and her husband were founding members of Alliance Bible Church (now Arise Church) in Hillsboro, Oregon, which was started in 1974. Over the years, Ruth helped organize many church functions and was quite active in the church community.

Family was very important to Ruth, she loved having get-togethers and cooking for everyone. She made staying in touch with family members a priority. Over the years, Ruth and her husband took their children and grandchildren on many memorable camping trips in their RV.

Loving and caring, Ruth always showed genuine concern for the welfare of others. She was a very special person, with a great sense of humor, a ready smile, and a joyous laugh. Her hobbies included genealogy and collecting vintage china. She was a cat person and also a sports fan. She enjoyed traveling and being in nature. She loved music of many genres and she loved to sing.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Bob and Don Rairdon; a grandson, and an infant granddaughter.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill; son, Darrell Vaughan; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Ivan Gower; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Ruth is laid to rest at Valley Memorial Park & Funeral Home 3929 SE Tualatin Valley HWY, Hillsboro OR 97123.

In honor of Ruth’s memory, a celebration of life service will be held at Arise Church 4174 SE Bentley St, Hillsboro, OR 97123 on July 29, 2023 from 2-4 pm.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a great-grandson, Xavier Wayne Ricker.

He was a certified Porsche/Audi technician and was owner/operator of Motor Sports International for 45 years. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife of 58 years and spending time with his family and friends.

Charles Edward Fleming - October 20, 1949 - June 20, 2023

Obituary Preview: Son, brother, friend, coach, husband, dad, Charlie was all of these and so much more. Husband and Dad were the roles he treasured. He loved his family and friends, but his wife and children were his life and love.

Growing up in Irving, Texas in the 1950’s Charlie set high goals for himself. He was an outstanding athlete and high scholastic achiever at MacArthur High School. Charlie was awarded a full ride academic scholarship from Texas Power & Light (TP&L - later TXU) earning a degree in Electrical Engineering and worked for TP&L for many years before beginning a long and successful career as a Financial Planner.

During his 20’s Charlie developed a love for long distance running and competed in marathons including the Boston and New York Marathons among many others.

Charlie & Sheri Bryan met and married in 1980 and began a 30-year life of love and adventure. Sheri’s position as a flight attendant for American Airlines allowed them the freedom to pursue this life of travel. Kauai, Hawaii was ‘their spot’ and they spent many vacations there with their children.

Charlie developed symptoms of Parkinson’s disease approximately 20 years ago. This disease took away many of his favorite joys --- travel, golf, running and other physical activities. He was able to spend his final years with his kids, up in the Pacific Northwest and had many more adventures and memories made. He fought a long battle with Parkinson’s, but his body could not fight any more. He left us for a place without pain or physical limitations and where he and Sheri can travel again.

Charlie will be sadly missed by his children- Carly, Taylor, sister Phyllis Fleming and brothers Kenneth (Suzanne) and Russell (Penne), nephews Michael and Shawn.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sheri, nephew Randall and parents Mac & Sylvia Fleming.

He was a resident of Oregon since 1990 along with his son Steven Schelin who also cared for him till the end in his home which is where he wanted his end of days.

He was a father. He was a son. He was an uncle. He was a hero, a military man, a truck driver and various other titles that he excelled at. He loved many and many loved him. He made his mark on the world and he will be missed by the many that his life has influenced. He enjoyed automobiles very much his whole life and many enjoyed them with him, his son included which was very influential for him growing up.

He has a surviving brother. Steve Schelin, a surviving mother Mary Otis, a nephew Nathan Schelin, plus many other relatives that will be mourning and missing such a great man.

his lifelong hometown of Hillsboro, Oregon. John was born on August 30, 1941. The youngest of six children, born to Avondale F. and Helen G. Cordrey. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1959, and it was here that he met Marie, whom he would marry on May 4, 1961. John and Marie were

married three days shy of 62 years. John was a successful business owner and business partner throughout his lifetime. John first went into partnership with lifelong friend, Bob Peck until 1975. He and his dear brother Tom Cordrey were successful partners throughout their lives. John often said he always felt fortunate that he was able to work with his brother pretty much his whole life. Throughout his lifetime, he owned and operated Main Street Towing, Hillsboro Towing, Hillsboro Auto Wrecking, Scotties Auto Body and

NorthWest Wheel Covers. He was hard working and loved to keep busy. John happily retired in 2007, which gave him more time to travel, grow an abundant vegetable garden, continue to perfect his already impeccable yard, spend time with his family and go fishing! He enjoyed making his famous salmon dip and generously shared it with everyone! Most of all, he loved it when his family was all together, gathered around a dinner table, sharing stories, memories and new dreams, in a room filled with laughter! I never met anyone who was richer in friends than he. He remained close to friends he had known since he was in school. Those closest to him were respected and treated as though they were part of his family. His unwavering belief in the importance of family and friends was a guiding principle in his every action. He had such an incredible joy for life and through his humor

and laughter, he passed that joy on to all of us. Our breaking hearts are a testament to the gratitude and love we feel for you. As time passes by, the sadness will lighten and the beautiful memories of you will eventually overshadow the ache in our hearts. We will learn to smile as we remember all of the joyous times we all spent with you and the remarkable impact you left on each of our lives. What an incredibly awesome,

beautiful man he was, who brought so much laughter, fun, happiness, and love into our lives. John is survived by his loving wife Marie, his daughters and their spouses, Ramona and Michael Roberts and Loretta and Randy Kemper, of Beaverton. Grandchildren, Melody (Josh) Bruns of East Wenatchee WA, Christopher (Jennifer) Rhodes of Hillsboro, Nathan Kemper of Beaverton, and Breanna Kemper of Portland. John A. Remaize, Jr. - Unknown - April 20, 2023

He was born in December, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to John and Amelia Remaize. John graduated from Pennsylvania Military College (first civilian class) with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He met Faith at his first job at the US Gypsum Company in Oakfield, New York. They were married at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Oakfield in April, 1966. Over the years, John’s career took their family to live in Maryland, Ohio, Connecticut, and Washington. He retired as a Production Manager at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in 2002.

As a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, he was committed to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed: painting, building decks, demolishing kitchens and so much more. He cherished time with his family, especially sneaking out with the grandkids for ice cream.

John was a runner, and eventually became an avid walker, taking multiple walks a day until he was 75 years old. He enjoyed watching sports, especially football, and he liked to do large jigsaw puzzles. Together with Faith, he was an active volunteer supporting their communities in various ways. They enjoyed spending time in Reno, Nevada and ultimately spent their retirement years there. For the last few years, they have lived in Oregon to be closer to family.

He is survived by his wife Faith, and his daughters Sandy (Gregg) Loprete, Susie (Tony) Salazar, and Sharon Remaize, and his grandchildren Anna and Matt Loprete, and Devon, Hannah, and Alex Salazar. He is also survived by his loving sister Delores (Dee) Okrenuk and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Amelia (Mazie) and her husband Joseph Webb, and his brother Tom and his wife Mary Ellen (Mimi) Remaize.

Mass will be held on May 12 at 10am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Aloha, Oregon followed by a lakeside final commendation and scattering of ashes at Valley Memorial Park in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Carol passed away at the age of 80. She was born in Melrose, Minnesota to Adelbert and Appolonia Welle. Carol was the third born into a family of four children. Carol and her husband Joe had been married for 55 years. Joe passed away in 2017.

They have three children, Scott (wife Cheryl passed away) and children Tyler (Lindsey), great grandchildren Avery and Emma; daughter Jenna (Troy), Kim Pearson (husband David passed away) and children Hayley and Grant; Charles and wife Miranda.

Carol had a full career taking care of people at St. Vincent Hospital. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, beading and planting flowers.

Carol loved to entertain, making a loving home to everyone, always with a warm hug and a big smile on her face. We feel like a shining star has gone dark. She will be enormously missed.

A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be held May 22, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Juan Diego Parish, 5995 NW 178th Ave, Portland, Oregon. A lunch reception will follow the Celebration.

Gary Burgess - January 19, 1966 - April 11, 2023

Obituary Preview: Gary Burgess was born on January 19, 1966. He grew up in Metzger, Oregon, and graduated from Tigard High School. While still in high school, Gary joined the U.S. Army Reserves, 25th Infantry Division, enlisting for six years.

In 1987 he became the loving father to his daughter, Shereena.

Gary was a general contractor by profession, starting out as head of maintenance at Woodlake and Columbia Pointe Apartments and then opening his own business, Hard Hat Handyman, in 1997. He was known as a hardworking, honest, and reliable businessman.

In 2006 Gary met his life partner of 17 years, Maria. He enjoyed traveling to the Philippines with her to spend time with their family.

In 2021, Gary was blessed with his granddaughter, Freya. He loved every moment with her and got a kick out of being goofy to get her to laugh. He absolutely adored being a grandpa.

Throughout his life, Gary enjoyed many activities such as woodworking, crabbing, clamming, fishing, camping, gardening, target shooting, league bowling, and watching sports (especially the Super Bowl). He also enjoyed collecting old coins, handguns, and antique fishing lures.

Gary was known for his fishing yard sales. He became an expert at refurbishing old fishing gear and hand making his own fish lures to sell at his sales. He made many friends in the community through this hobby.

Gary also completed 12 volunteer playground installations for Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation District and the Oregon Recreation and Park Association.

On April 11, 2023, at the age of 57, Gary passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones.

Gary will always be remembered for his kind heart, willingness to help others, hilarious sense of humor, amazing creativity, contagious smile (which Shereena and Freya inherited), kindness towards wildlife (especially birds), ability to make people laugh, and devotion to helping his parents in their final years of life. Gary loved his friends and family more than anything in this world. Spending time with them and making sure they knew how much he loved them was very important to him.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Maria Kravitz; his daughter, Shereena Johnston, and granddaughter, Freya Johnston; his siblings: Sandi (Burgess) Botten-Dean, Sheila (Burgess) St Clair, Jerry Burgess, and Shawn Burgess; as well as many nieces and nephews, including many “adopted-by-the-heart” nieces and nephews in the Philippines.

A celebration of life will be held at Old Town Church (2224 15th Avenue, Forest Grove, OR 97116) on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11am. All family, friends (current and old), and anyone whose heart was touched by Gary, are welcome to attend. We are hoping to collect memories of Gary for his granddaughter, so we would love you to come, even if you haven’t seen Gary for many years, but have fond memories of him to share.

Peggy Lynn Leathers - September 25, 1955 - April 08, 2023

After a seven-year battle with cancer, Peggy went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 8. She died at home under the love and care of her husband, Raymond "Rayzor" Leathers. Peggy was born at Tuality Hospital in Hillsboro on September 25, 1955, to Martha Elizabeth Epler and Henry Sirus Epler. She had two brothers, Richard, ten years older, and Wesley, five years older. The family initially resided on a 69-acre farm on Mt. Richmond outside Gaston. In

'63, the family moved to Beaverton when Peggy was in the third grade.

She worked for Mears Controls after graduating from Sunset High School in '74. Then in '76, she went to work for Leupold & Stevens, assembling scopes. A few years later ('79), Ray was interviewing for a job at Leupold & Stevens, and Peggy smiled as he walked by. With that one smile—he would be forever and always hers.

In '81, Peggy and Ray were married at an outdoor wedding in her parent's backyard—in a record-breaking temperature of 107 degrees. For many years they attended Cedar Hills Christian Church. God blessed them with the birth of Sara in '83 and Tyler in '85. Peggy graced every room she walked into with the same smile and charm that so attracted Ray to her the first time he saw her. Her can-do attitude enabled her to tackle life's challenges head-on, including cancer. She was kind-hearted, even-tempered, encouraging, and always looked at the bright side of things. She was a rock to her family, and, as Ray has often said, she was "A special person."

Peggy was not into high fashion or material possessions. The pride and joy of her life was her family. Quiet times as a couple, camping with friends and loved ones, going for long drives, and enjoying the moment fulfilled her. Peggy loved her dogs—especially the German Shepherd, Ruger, who was by her side every step as she battled cancer.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Wesley. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, her daughter, Sara, her son, Tyler, and three grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be at 1:00 on Wednesday, May 3, at Beaverton Foursquare Church, West Chapel. _______________________________________________ Although Peggy Lost The Battle—She Won The Fight

Obituary Preview: In Honor of Tony J Cabodi

Tony was born May 6, 1931 in Van Nuys (San Fernando Valley) California, son of late George and Caterina Cabodi; brother of Margaret Borgia. He graduated from San Fernando Valley High School, class of 1950.

Tony joined the Army, where he fought in the Korean war in 1951. He was wounded in action and was honorably discharged, receiving a purple heart medal. He spent 13 months recovering from his injuries at Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco.

Tony entered the field of retail produce and worked in the field for the remainder of his working career.

In 1958, Tony met Gloria Sena, a waitress at a local diner and began dating. They married in 1959 and raised 3 children; Anthony, Gina and Annette in Granada Hills, California. They resided there until they moved to Oregon in 1978.

Tony enjoyed many hobbies: dirt bike riding, drag racing, classic cars, Mariners baseball, Trailblazers basketball, Football and other various sports. Additionally, he enjoyed listening to jazz music, specifically on KMHD radio station.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, George Cabodi (1981), Caterina Paruca Cabodi (2004) and his son, Anthony John Cabodi Jr. (1990). Survivors include his wife Gloria Cabodi, his sister Margaret Borgia, his daughter Gina Cabodi-Storms (Husband Guy Storms), daughter Annette Cabodi Damm (husband Brian Damm), grandson Trevor Storms (wife Cayli Storms), grandson Nick Storms, Granddaughter Jordyn Damm, grandson Dylan Damm and great-grand granddaughters Addy Storms and Ellie Storms (parents Trevor and Cayli Storms) My DAD! In celebration of my dad’s life, I want to share with you many of the things he loved.

1. My dad loved his family, my mom Gloria, my brother Anthony, my sister Gina and me. He loved his parents, his sister, Margaret and husband John, their grown kids Johnny and Andy. He loved his 4 grandchildren, Trevor, Nick, Jordyn and Dylan. He loved his 2 great-daughters, Addy and Ellie. He never showed any favoritism towards any family member and expressed happiness, laughter and support.

2. He loved his friends. If you were a friend of my dad, you were a friend for life! Many of you may not realize that my dad and Chuck Alexander have been friends since high school and remained friends for the rest of his life - about 76 years. Him and Chuck even joined the Army at the same time. Some other friends of his were Darryl Orand, Bob King, Dan Dulley, Willie, Bob Eisley and so many more. He made new friends as he moved through different phases of life.

3. He even loved my friends. Roxanne was my best friend all through high school and my dad drove us all around to places like concerts, guitar practice and so on. Every time I would mention Roxanne, he would say Roxi! With a smile on his face and asking how she’s doing. 4. He loved playing games with friends, such as bunco or playing cards

5. He loved Landscaping the yard and took great pride in the beauty of it. 6. He loved to grow vegetables in the garden and was really good at it. Not surprising since he was a produce man all his working life 7. He loved watching Seinfeld..and would laugh and say “George…what a character”! 8. He loved eating sugary treats - his favorite was the Rocky Road candy bar

9. He loved Watching various sports either in person or on TV, like the Mariners, Trailblazers, Drag racing, Football, you name it.

10. He loved classic cars and even had a couple for a little while. 11. In his younger days, he loved dirt bike riding with his friend, Ray Basso, Ray’s son Johnny and us three kids.(I was pretty young and was on a mini bike)

12. He loved eating In & Out burgers and would come home from California with a new In & Out T-shirt as a souvenir.

13. Mom and dad would like to go on beach trips; many times at a hotel for weekend getaway. Their favorite beach spot was Inn at Spanish Head in Lincoln City.

14. And lastly, even though he wouldn’t admit it, he loved our cat kitty - who was a rambunctious cat we had when I was a teenager. In other words, he loved his full life…and we celebrate that and honor him for who he was! Thank you!

Beverly Jean (Jackson) Nissinen, 82, of Portland, went home Friday, January 20, 2023, to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Beverly was born in Bemidji, MN on Aug. 25, 1940, to Harris and Hilda Jackson.

She grew up in northern Minnesota and Fairbanks, AK, where she graduated from high school. On Aug. 29, 1958, Beverly married Emorie Nissinen. In 1962, the Nissinens moved to Oregon, where they would live for many years in Hillsboro and Portland with a brief interlude in Lynnwood, WA, where they ran a 7-Eleven store. Beverly was a homemaker and in later years worked for several corporate entities, including the Epson Corporation. Beverly and Emorie also spent several years pulling fifth-wheel trailers around the country. Throughout her life Beverly was an active volunteer in schools, churches, hospitals, and with Meals on Wheels; she was a lifelong Lutheran.

Beverly is survived by sisters, Judy (Bill) Burlingame and Carol Ann Lomen; daughters, Laura (Dave) Stauffer and Lisa (Clarence) Nissinen- Harlow; son, Aaron (Terri) Nissinen; 11 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Dr. Dennis “Denny” Wallace passed away peacefully on the evening of January 15, 2023, with the love of his wife and daughters surrounding him.

Denny was born in Seymour, Indiana in 1945 to John and Evelyn. He was the youngest of six children. He received his A.S. degree in pre-veterinary science from Vincennes University and his D.V.M. from Purdue University. While attending vet school at Purdue, Denny met the love of his life and best friend, Reta Cambridge. They would marry in June 1969.

Denny was a natural athlete and played baseball, basketball, football, threw the javelin, and golfed at various times in his life. His favorite sport was fast-pitch softball, and he excelled as a left-handed pitcher. He played for 40 years, well into his fifties, often on teams with men thirty years younger than him. In the 1990s Denny was inducted into the Fast-Pitch Softball Hall of Fame.

He worked as a research veterinarian specializing in parasites for Merck for over thirty years. Some of the well-known products he led trials for are Ivermectin, Heartgard, and Frontline.

In 1975 Denny and Reta welcomed their first daughter, Stacey, and three years later, their second daughter, Valerie. Denny was a devoted husband and father and his family of four were and are extremely close. They enjoyed traveling together across North America and Europe and made an abundance of wonderful memories. This tradition has continued as the girls’ spouses and children were added to the family.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 53 years, Reta; daughters Stacey (Kevin), Valerie (Jason); grandchildren Gus, Arlo, Vivi, Garrett; step-grandchildren Chase, Kaylee, Alexis; oldest sister Jo Anne; only brother Victor (Marge); as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Denny was predeceased by his parents, John and Evelyn; sisters Adrienne, Kay, Susan; his in-laws, five brothers-in-law, three nephews, and one niece.

Visitation, funeral service, and internment will be held at Valley Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 3929 SE Tualatin Valley Highway, Hillsboro, OR 97123 on January 24, 2023, beginning at noon.

Dios le tenia preparada una sorpresa, el sueno de toda mujer se le cumplió, el regalo más grande de su vida de ser mama se le volvió realidad. Dios le regalo un hijo que después nombro a su hijo Eric (en honor al actor Eric del Castillo, uno de sus actores favoritos). Así como fueron pasando los años conoció a Salvador con quien después se casaría y viviría años muy felices al lado de su esposo y su amado hijo. Hoy que ha partido, por favor no se entristezcan, no derramen lagrimas ni se abrazen a una pena. Obituary Preview: A truly extraordinary man that knew the importance of family and friends; his thoughtfulness was an inspiration to many.

Born in 1928 to Elmer and Mabel Gray in Hillsboro, Oregon, Alfred was an only child for many years before his beloved brothers Gary and Roger were born.

He found a love for art early and painted throughout his life. He often entered his paintings at fairs and local art museums. He was very proud to have one painting, Columbia Gorge, selected to be displayed at the Academic Artists Association, Museum of Fine Arts, Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1956. Although painting was his passion, he experimented with a variety of artistic mediums and in his later years became a prolific creator of cut coin scrimshaw jewelry. It was this work that he sold at Portland Saturday Market for nearly four decades. He had many friends and acquaintances there and his customers would visit him from around the world.

Growing up and living on a small farm in Hillsboro, he farmed and had a great passion for gardening. Always planting and replanting, he loved nature. Just like his garden he cultivated passions in others as well, encouraging curiosity and exposing all those he knew to the vast possibilities that life holds. He continually tried to spark the interest of friends and family by sharing his love of many things whether through a pack of seeds, playing a harmonica, giving a set of paintbrushes or teaching a few guitar chords.

Alfred is survived by his daughter, Charlotte Gray, his brothers, Gary and Roger Gray, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and relatives.

She grew up on an 80 acre homestead on Dixie Mountain in Washington County Oregon.

On May 4th 1953 she married her high school sweetheart Keith L. Minty. Soon after he joined the Air Force. They moved several times over 20 years before settling in North Las Vegas Nevada. She got her certification in cosmetology and enjoyed cutting hair for her many friends and family. She also served as a special ed assistant and was instrumental in the development of many special needs children. She was recognized by the Governor of Nevada for her outstanding efforts.

She was a member of Nellis Baptist Church since 1973 and was loved by everyone she touched.

She is survived by her loving husband Keith Minty, son Ron Minty from Wichita Kansas, daughter Karen Doucet from Hillsboro Oregon, son Gary Minty from Broadbent Oregon, and 8 grandchildren, Joshua, Rhonda, Ryan, Christopher, Rebecca, Mathew, Shayla and Kylee and 11 great grandchildren and many many friends who loved her so much.

A small family gathering will be held in Hillsboro Oregon on January 7th at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church, Hillsboro, Oregon. She will be laid to rest at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Hillsboro, Oregon.

A celebration of life will be held at Nellis Baptist Church on January 28th 2023 at 1:00. “Praise The Lord”
