Obituary Preview: Emmett Jackson McKinney, age 87, of Glenwood, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Deer Park Health and Rehabilitation. Emmett was born November 14, 1936, in McDowell County, to the late Clyde McKinney and Docia Morgan McKinney.

Emmett was a proud United States Army Veteran who loved his family deeply. He was also a talented mechanic with a deep passion for fixing up old cars. Emmett enjoyed spending time boating on Lake James with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to Emmett’s parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois Mae Mace McKinney; son, Joseph “Joey” McKinney; and his sisters, Grace Duncan and Donnie Wilson.

Those left to cherish Emmett’s memory are his children, Eddie McKinney of Lawton Oklahoma; Kim Proctor (Bill) of Marion; four grandchildren, Joseph McKinney, Ray McKinney, Melissa Tessneer (Chris), Kevin Proctor (Kendra); and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at McDowell Memorial Park on February 21, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. with Mr. Drannon Wilson officiating.

Obituary Preview: Mrs. Georgia “JoJo” Callahan Greer passed away peaceful at her home with her family by her side on Saturday, August 19, 2023. She is now with Jesus and is reunited with her husband Frank “Junior” Greer, Jr. after missing him for 28 years.

JoJo was born in Mitchell County, but spent most of her life in Marion, on June 30, 1936 to the late James E. Callahan and Nellie Greene Callahan. She was a member of Ridgeway Freewill Baptist Church for over 40 years. JoJo was known for her green thumb and growing hostas. Her family was very dear to her and meeting their needs was a high priority. JoJo loved all her family, but when it came to her granddaughter, Jayleigh who was her pride and joy, no one could take that special place in her heart.

Left to cherish Jo Jo’s memory are her son, David Greer and wife Jada of Glenwood and their daughter, Jayleigh; numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Linda Gayle was a member of Clinchfield United Methodist Church. While she was a member Linda Gayle taught Sunday School for 30 years and the youth for 20 years. She also helped deliver “Meals on Wheel” for 3 years. Linda Gayle was able to touch the hearts of many throughout her life and will be deeply missed by all who had a chance to know her.

In addition to her parents and husband of 51 years, Linda Gayle is preceded in death by two beloved Brothers, Doug and John Suttles.

Left to cherish her precious memory are her three sisters, Essie McComb (Larry) of Pine Mt., GA, Brenda Johnson (Johnny) of Marion, and Wanda Flynn (Junior) of Marion; her special children, Christian Johnson (Jasmine), Tyler Johnson; her dear nieces and nephews, that she considered as her children, Kelly Suttles, Tony Flynn, Wendy Wisor (Rick), Kevin Suttles (Betty), Michael Flynn (Lisa), John Johnson (Mimi), and Josh Johnson (Heather). Also, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews.
