Being born into a military family, Bobby carried a dual citizenship; which, come to find out, placed him on a "watch list" at the airport and a surprise poking from his mother-in-law (funny story).Bobby had a love for animals (Luna and Sigi), history, spirituality and nature that he carried into his career as a Park Ranger.While living in Florida, he gained the nick-name "Bobby Ballfield", from the Pasco Co. little leaguers because he would stripe their fields like the Big Leagues. After moving to Chattanooga, TN, he went to work for the City of Chattanooga Public Works --Emergency Dept. and later into Parks & Recreation-Park Ranger; where he retired.Family and friends who are left behind, will never forget his love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus. She was 96 years old.She was born and raised in Cottage Grove, TN on November 29, 1926, to the late Robert Lewis and Ola Mai Veazey, also of Cottage Grove.Mary Nelle was a graduate of E.W. Grove High School. She was Valedictorian of her class. Upon graduation, she attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and majored in Home Economics. After earning her degree, she moved to Chattanooga, TN and worked in Nutrition Services for Dupont. It was in Chattanooga that she met her future husband, John Edward Moreland.Mary Nelle and John were married for 51 years and made their home on Signal Mountain, where they lived for the duration of their lives. They had two boys, Mark Edward Moreland and Michael Robert (Brannan) Moreland. Mary Nelle had 5 grandchildren: Michael (Madi) Moreland; Grace (Brandon) Drummer; Emily (Andrew) Neuman; Mason Moreland; and Miller Moreland. She had 3 great-grandchildren: Millie Rae Moreland, Willow-Grace Drummer, and Brooks Neuman.Mary Nelle enjoyed spending her free time with her church, her friends, her family, and supporting the Tennessee VOLS. She and John had season tickets for UT Football in Knoxville and UT basketball at UTC. They especially enjoyed taking the boys when they were young but continued going to games into their retirement years. Mary Nelle was a devoted VOL fan for her entire life and loved all things Orange!Mary Nelle also devoted herself to her church, Signal Crest United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years and was a member of the Womens’ Circle. She volunteered her time for her church in a number of ways and was always happy to bring a meal and/or pay a visit to members in need of assistance or company. Mary Nelle loved spending time with friends and was a member of multiple bridge clubs. She spent as much time as possible with her family, who she loved so well. There was nothing that made Mary Nelle happier than having her children and grandchildren in her home visiting. Above all, Mary Nelle loved the Lord and was faithful to Him.Mary Nelle is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ola Mai Veazey; her brothers, WT Veazey and Joe Veazey; her husband, John Edward Moreland; and her son, Mark Edward Moreland.A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 2pm at Signal Crest United Methodist Church (1005 Ridgeway Ave Signal Mountain, TN). Obituary Preview: Mark Landrum, 59, passed away after a long battle with cancer on August 8, 2023. Mark was born on November 4, 1963 in Birmingham, Alabama. He moved to Chattanooga with his family in 1996. Mark was preceded in death by his parents: Robert Keith Landrum and Joan Landrum. He is survived by his wife of 31 years: Sara Starla Landrum, three children: Robert Daniel Landrum (Rebecca), Elizabeth Ann Landrum, and Keith Everett Landrum; and a cherished nephew: William Wensel. He was a member of Tyner United Methodist Church.Mark graduated from Vestavia Hills High School in 1981 and joined the United States Army shortly after, where he was an infantryman serving in Germany. Upon his discharge from the Army, he became a police officer in Homewood, Alabama and worked for a number of years before moving to Chattanooga. Mark worked for the Tennessee Department of Transportation as a Highway Response Operator with the Help Program for fifteen years before retiring in 2017.One of Mark’s proudest moments was serving as TN-187 Civil Air Patrol Chattanooga Composite Squadron Commander from 2009 – 2011, and the TN – 173 Cleveland Composite Squadron Commander in 2014. The Chattanooga Squadron received the Squadron of Merit Award while under Mark’s leadership. In 2011 Mark was the Tennessee Wing Director of Public Affairs, and served as the Deputy Public Affairs Officer for the Southeast Region of Tennessee. Among his many duties in the Civil Air Patrol, Mark undoubtedly influenced many young people to pursue careers in positions of leadership.A memorial service will be held for Mark on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 5:00 PM at Tyner United Methodist Church, 6805 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421. Reverend Amanda Dean will be officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately following the service at the church.

Kent's generosity knew no bounds; he was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, demonstrating his selflessness by giving the shirt off his back.Kent is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Green, his sister Fretta Pulliam, his brother Jeffrey Green, his son Tony Godsey, his daughter Tina Short  and his cherished grandchildren: Brandon Abston, Travis Abston, Hannah Gross, Cora Layman, Summer Short, and Stephanie Godsey. Obituary Preview: Betty Barger Bown, 94, died at a local healthcare facility. She currently resided in Chattanooga, TN and was formerly from Jasper, TN. She was a long-time member of the Jasper Cumberland Presbyterian Church and transferred to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church when she relocated to Chattanooga, TN.She worked for many years at various power companies and physicians’ offices. She was also a member of the Chattanooga Camping Club, Jasper Home Demonstration Club, and Jasper Women’s Club. She was a past volunteer for the Make-A-Wish foundation and Hospice of Chattanooga. She was always willing and available to help her sick family and friends. She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was very much loved by all that knew her.She was preceded in death by her parents Arlie and Grace Barger, husband Thomas E. Brown and sisters Mary Kelly, Virginia Alder and Frances Phillips and grandson Jeff Sewell.Survivors include two daughters, Sherian Summers and Lynn Bowman, Chattanooga, TN, two sons, Steve (Cynthia Darlene), Oceanside, CA, Gregg (Connie), Signal Mountain, TN, grandchildren, Sheridon (Dave) Tompkins, Chattanooga, Kyle (Ashlee) Brown, Chattanooga, Rachel Brown, Lexington, KY, Allason (James) Tipton, Dayton, TN and Brittany Brown, CA; seven great grand children and several nieces and nephews. Obituary Preview: Mark was born in Poland March 7, 1943, and was the only child of Jake and Rose. Jake was well read and knew what was happening in Germany at that time, so he made the wise decision to leave Poland, and escape the Holocaust. The family made it to Russia where Mark's parents got jobs in a ball bearing factory making parts for the Russian army and stayed there until the end of the war. They then emigrated to the United States and resided in Chattanooga, TN.Mark's early school years were at H. Clay Evans Grammar School, Dickinson Jr. High, and he graduated from Chattanooga High School, and then University of Chattanooga (now UTC). While he was in downtown Atlanta one day, he happened to park his car under a billboard sign advertising Southern School of Pharmacy and thought “why not” and signed up that day. He became a pharmacist and worked in the Georgia/Chattanooga areas for many years.Over time, he discovered and advocated natural healing through vitamins and herbs and could tell you in detail why, in his opinion, they worked better than traditional medicines. He was always a good-natured person who enjoyed helping people and had time to give free advice on health issues. He claimed to be able to ward off or cure any disease with vitamins and herbs. It all made perfect sense when he explained it, but there’s no proof of how many people applied this information.Just like the song, “I Did It My Way," Mark lived his life without being intimidated by peer pressure and financial gain, and some even labeled him as an eccentric, but that didn’t bother him. He was true to himself and his beliefs.Mark was a lifelong bachelor who loved sports, especially football and tennis, and he took detailed notes on his yellow legal pad that he carried everywhere. Computers and phones were not his strong points; he never trusted computers and preferred hard copies of all his research. For the past 20 or so years, Manker Patten Tennis Center was his comfort zone, where everyone's common bond is tennis. He was a dedicated player until his knees could no longer withstand the stress. Mark’s (aka Spook) trademark was his unique serve that will always be remembered by all of his opponents. So funny, but he got the job done!He lived a simple life and was always filled with optimism. In the last few years, he spoke of living in Costa Rica where he felt the climate was warm and the people were friendly. Game, Set, Match !!There will never be another Mark Jacobs. Godspeed and rest in peace, our friend.The tennis center will have a memorial service to be announced in a few days.

Malcom is a Marine and served our country proudly.He is survived by his sister, Elaine Parkerson, and his brother, Bruce Elrod. He also leaves behind his cherished granddaughter, Jessica (Ben) Stansberry.Malcom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy, his son Justin Elrod, and his daughter Laura Gamble. Her passion for oil painting led her to create stunning landscapes, often depicting the picturesque Alps mountains of her cherished childhood memories in Germany.Nature brought her much joy, and she could often be found tending to her garden, nurturing the flowers with care. Her home was always impeccably kept, a testament to her organized and thoughtful nature. Herta was a warm and hospitable soul, and she found immense joy in entertaining guests, making them feel welcome and at ease.Her kindness extended not only to humans but also to animals and children. Even though he had suffered from two strokes he was always trying to uplift others and light up the room with his humor and encouragement.His legacy lives on through his children, Tammy Hustad, Tina (Kevin) Parks, Timothy (Catherine) Hustad, Theresa Hustad, Tabatha Vaughn, Todd (Aimee) Hustad, and stepson Cliff Cranick. Ralph had 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, who will continue to cherish his memory. Grandchildren include: Lauren (Rob) and Alexandra (Tina and Kevin), Brian (Nicole) and Matthew (Abigail) (Timothy and Catherine), Sarah (Tabatha), Zoe, Olivia and Hannah (Todd and Aimee), Adam and Veronica (Cliff) and one great grandson Noah (Brian and Nicole).Ralph was blessed to have siblings who checked on him often: Rodney (Linda) Hustad, Ruth Rummler, and Roberta (Don) Rhode.He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Lillian Hustad, Barbara Weaver Hustad his second wife of 38 years, and Nancy Jean Olson his first wife of 22 years and the mother of his six children.
