Obituary Preview: When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not for long And not with head bowed low Remember the love that once we shared
Miss me but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone. It's all part of the master plan
A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know. Laugh al all the things we used to do
Miss me but let me go.

When he moved to Talladega, he acquiesced to the Lay Leader of Jacobs Chapel. Later he converted to the Baptist denomination and rose once again to be Chairman of the Deacon Board at Mount Canaan Baptist Church, where he served until his demise.
Horace Sims attended Clay County Training School where he was a Football stand-out and after graduation he matriculated to Alabama A & M University where he played quarterback. After college he enlisted in the U. S. Army and received an Honorable Discharge. He married the love of his life Irene Watkins Sims and they had 4 children. While growing up and until his manhood, his father owned a corner grocery store. He helped establish the Alabama Head Start Association with member programs all over the State. As Chairman of the Alabama Head Start Association, the organization grew Statewide in large part due to his superb management and administration skills to write grants and policies. Community Action Agency, which initially served Four (4) Counties of Talladega, Clay, Cleburne and Randolph Counties helped to pay rent, power bills, gas , water, groceries, remodeling, wheel chair accessibility, weatherization, Community bus service, computer lessons, Head Start Programs and job skills training for low or moderate income families. In 1972 he was promoted again, this time to Deputy Executive Director of Community Action Agency and in 1997, he was promoted to Executive Director in charge of the entire agency with an initial annual budget of $3.5 million. Under his leadership and management, the annual budget exponentially grew from 3.5 million to $12 million; and Calhoun County was added for a total of 5 Counties serving 30, 000 people annually. He retired in 2010 with 44 years of continuous, compassionate and honorable service to the people of East Alabama.
He was a member of the Clay County Industrial Board and the Talladega City Recreation Board. He was Chairman of the Civil Service Board for many years. He was selected to Who’s Who Among Talladegians in 1992 by TCDC and served 6 terms as Alabama Head Start Association President.

Obituary Preview: Heaven Rocking Chair
Are there rocking chairs in Heaven where little babies go? Do the angels hold you closely and rock you to and fro? Do they talk silly baby talk to get a smile or two, and sing the sleepy lullabies I used to sing to you? My heart is aching for you, my angel child so dear. You brought such joy into my life the short time you were here. I know you're in a happy place and in God's loving care. I dream each night I'm rocking you in Heaven's rocking chair.

Keeps me strong each day. Two hearts once beat together,
Now one beats all alone. I know one day we'll meet Dear Lord, The day you call me home -Linda

Prince Giles Pearson - January 27, 1983 - April 06, 2020

Departed: 04/06/2020 (SYLACAUGA)
Obituary Preview: All Is Well
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped into next room.
I am I , and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference in you tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was; there is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well.
