He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. His commitment to his others was evident in the way he lived his life, always putting others before himself and offering help wherever it was needed. Ritchie's interests outside of work were simple yet profound. He found joy in cutting grass, an activity that allowed him to appreciate the beauty of nature and the satisfaction of a job well done. Fishing was more than a pastime for Ritchie; it was a pursuit that brought him peace and happiness, especially when shared with friends and loved ones.

Above all, Ritchie cherished the time he spent with his family. He was a loving father to his daughters, Rhonda Morris (Tommy) and Robin Lin Jacobs (Tony). He beamed with pride for his grandchildren, Tyler Marsh and Cade Jacobs, and his great-grandchild, Destiny Marsh. Ritchie's role as a grandfather and great-grandfather was one of his greatest joys, and his love for his family was the cornerstone of his life.

In addition, he is survived by his brothers, Kenny Marsh and Joe Marsh (Deborah); Billie; a brother-in-law, Grady Dunn, and a sister-in-law, Mary Marsh, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Ritchie was predeceased by his wife, Mary Lee “Teekie” Marsh; his parents; his brothers, H.B. Marsh and Beverly Marsh; sister, Martha Ann Dunn; and sister-in-law, Betty Marsh.

Billy dedicated over 40 years of his life to the Georgetown Steel Mill, where he worked diligently until his retirement. His commitment to his work was only surpassed by his devotion to his faith. For 30 years, he served as a deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he was a testament to the power of belief and the strength of community. Billy was also a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1965-1969.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sally Dianne Powers Owens, and their children, Clay Owens (Suzie), Luke Owens (Kelly), and Sissy Owens Foxworth. Billy's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Payton Owens, Hallie Foxworth, Baylee Owens, and Cody Foxworth, who affectionately called him “DaDa”. They will forever carry forward the values he instilled in them. He also leaves behind a sister, Patsy Lewis; a double aunt, Fleetie Cribb; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Billy was predeceased by his parents, William Erby Owens and Lena Mae Cribb Owens Grier; his stepfather, Luther Doc Grier; his son-in-law, Dustin Foxworth; and his brother-in-law, Tommy Lewis.

Billy's life was marked by his faith-filled and selfless nature. He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was watching wrestling, cheering during a good ballgame on TV, or finding solace on the golf course. His love for sports was matched by his passion for his church and his Lord and Savior.

Above all, Billy cherished the time spent with his family and friends. His presence was a source of comfort and strength, and his love was unconditional. He was a man who listened more than he spoke, and when he did speak, his words were filled with wisdom and kindness.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 5542 Carvers Bay Road, Hemingway, SC, officiated by Pastor James Herring and Reverend Allen Hall. Burial to follow at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.

She was a beacon of love and creativity, a woman whose very essence was her unwavering devotion to her family and her Lord. She was blessed with two children, Phyllis W. Elliott (Johnny) and Phil Williams (Sue); her cherished grandchildren, Brant Elliott (Lee Anne), Corey Hughes (Wayne), Thomas Williams, and Rebecca W. Holcombe (Connor); and her adored great-grandchildren, Mahaley and Trevor Hughes. In addition, she has one sister, Susie Prosser (Leon) and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Grier, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her family was the joy of her life, and she poured her love into each of their hearts.

Mrs. Gertrude was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Mr. Lee Kemp Williams; her parents, James Walter Grier, Sr. and Mrs. Dorrell Rowe Grier; and her brothers, J.W. Grier, Jr., and James Robert Grier. Memories of them were a source of strength and comfort to her.

Sister Gertrude was a lifelong member of Center Baptist Church, where she was an active participant in the Women's Missionary Union and Sunday School. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through every season and inspiring those around her.

She had many interests and found pleasure in the simple joys of life like reading a good book, family vacations, especially ones at the beach. She was never one to sit idle, always finding a project.

She was a woman of great faith, and we take solace in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of our Savior. Her legacy is a tapestry woven with the threads of love, faith, and family, a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide us in the days to come. She is survived by a family who adored her deeply: her children, Chuck Grier (Renee) and Lynne Grier (Brett Fennell); her grandchildren, Catelyn Grier, Chandler Grier, Grier McKnight, and Turner McKnight; her sister, Peggy Moore; her sister-in-law, Dale Cook; and numerous nieces and nephews. Born on October 14, 1947, in Conway, South Carolina, Frances was the beacon of warmth and joy in the lives of all who knew her. She was the cherished wife of Hutto Omega West Jr., who stands as a testament to their enduring love and shared life's journey. Together, they raised their beloved daughter, Cindy West Kennington, married to David. Frances was a proud grandmother to Justin David Kennington and Jordan Cain Kennington, along with his wife, Katelyn, who affectionately called her "TWO.”

Frances's early years were spent in the loving embrace of her parents, the late Sara Cain Young and Julia Juanita "Nita" Kennedy Young. She grew up alongside her siblings, sharing an unbreakable bond that only strengthened with time. She was predeceased by her brother, Wayne Edward Young and her sister-in-law, Marilyn West.

The sibling bond remained a source of strength and support throughout her life. She is survived by her sisters, Myrtle Y. Elliott (Rev. Wayne), Margaret Y. Goude, Doris Y. Simmons, Peggy Y. Moulds (Rev. Paul), and her brother, Sarvis C. Young (Carolyn). Her extended family also includes her brothers-in-law, Rev. Ricky West (Julie) and Jamie West, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

Professionally, Frances was a dedicated and respected clerk at the Georgetown County Treasurer's Office from which she retired after years of exemplary service. Her creativity shone through in her talent as a cake baker and decorator, bringing joy and sweetness to countless celebrations. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her active membership at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, where she served with devotion and grace.

She was a woman whose presence could light up a room. She always had a smile on her face and a good story to tell, leaving everyone in the room laughing. Her sense of humor, combined with her creative and loving nature, made her unforgettable. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her twin grandsons. Frances also found pleasure in the simple things, like reading a good book or treating herself to a monthly trip to the nail salon for a little pampering. Above all, her love for God and her family was the cornerstone of her existence. Her ability to find humor in life's moments, her artistic flair in the kitchen, and her boundless love for her family and friends will be greatly missed.

Predeceased by his parents, George Avant Sr. and Lethia Young Avant, as well as his brother Billy Avant and sister-in-law Sallie Avant, Harry's legacy lives on through his cherished family. He is survived by his loving wife, Tina Thompson Avant, and children: Charlette McGaha (Steve), David Avant (Pam), Sarah Petty (Richard), Richard Avant, and Michael Small (Katie). Harry took great joy in the company of his grandchildren: Tessa Gambrell (Cody), Cortney McGaha (Everett Ivey), Sam Brown (Hayden), Lainey Avant (Blake Altman), Jordan Avant, Brianna Cox (Channing), Melinda Martin, Marshall Martin, Emaleigh Avant, Anderson Avant, and Bethany Avant. His great-grandchildren JP and Charlie Gambrell, Cameron Small, Madison Small, Callie Small, Cayden Small, Braleigh Altman, Braxton Altman, Roman Cox, Atlas Cox, and Weston Jasper also brought him immense pride and happiness. Harry's family circle extended to his sister Dena Keesee (Doug), brothers George Avant Jr. and Donnie Avant (Debbie), numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved granddog Rilee Beth.

A retired Fire Marshall, Harry's commitment to service was evident in his 27 years with the Georgetown County Fire Department His courage and passion for helping others were not only professional traits but also personal ones, as he was always the first to offer a helping hand to those in need. Harry's thoughtful nature made him a pillar in his community and a cherished friend, especially to his close companion, Richard "Buddy" Bourne.

A devout member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Harry served as a deacon and found great joy in lifting his voice in song during worship. His faith was a beacon that guided him throughout his life and inspired those around him.

Harry's interests extended beyond his work and church activities. He was a familiar face at local dining spots, such as W.T. Owens and Son and The Ball and Que Restaurant, where he enjoyed his weekly dining trips. A man who took pride in his home, Harry liked to keep his yard meticulously cut and clean, a testament to his careful and precise nature.

Courageous in his service, passionate about his community, and thoughtful in his every action, Harry Junior Avant's life was a living example of these virtues. He will be remembered as a man who not only lived life fully but also enriched the lives of everyone he encountered. His warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering integrity have left an indelible mark on the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Cherished Mother and NaNa, Mrs. Myrtle Tyler Rowe, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2024, at her home surrounded by the love and support of her family. Mrs. Rowe was the widow of Mr. Harvey J. Rowe, Jr.

Mrs. Myrtle was born in Georgetown County on February 16, 1930, to the late Mr. William Volentine Tyler and Mrs. Cattie Moore Tyler. On December 18, 1947, Myrtle married her treasure, Harvey J. Rowe, Jr., and they worked together on the family tobacco farm. Harvey and Myrtle were blessed with four daughters, eight grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren throughout their 65 years of marriage.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Myrtle served the Lord with gladness through her dedication and service to others as a member of Center Baptist Church. She was the oldest living member where over the years she served as Sunday School Director and Hospitality Committee Chairperson. She was affectionately known as “Boss Lady” to the entire church family. Mrs. Myrtle lovingly organized meals for various church events including funerals, revivals, showers, and Vacation Bible School. Having a true servant’s heart for the Lord, Mrs. Myrtle always put the needs of others first to provide love and support. Additionally, Mrs. Myrtle faithfully cleaned her church for over 50 years. Mrs. Myrtle’s church family loved her immensely, and she enjoyed everyone greeting her at the end of her pew each and every Sunday.

Mrs. Myrtle’s greatest joy in life was her family. Nothing made her happier than a gathering full of love and laughter. Her home was a safe haven for her family where she shared her unwavering faith in the Lord, and exemplified God’s grace through her unconditional love and generosity. Her family simply adored her, and her favorite word was “GO!” Mrs. Myrtle loved to shop at Belk, especially on Black Friday surrounded by her daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters. She also enjoyed going out to eat Japanese food, shrimp and grits, and fried chicken. Mrs. Myrtle supported her great grands by attending ballgames, dance competitions, and special ceremonies. Her presence at these events have been a cherished part of their childhood. Her family has taken her on many trips over the years that have created precious memories. Mrs. Myrtle leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, and compassion as well as a profound, steadfast devotion to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Her family will strive every day to follow in her footsteps. While we will miss her with all our hearts, we know she is rejoicing in Heaven and waiting on us to join her one day.

Mrs. Rowe is survived by her four daughters, Cathy (Kerry) Burrows, Suzanne (Ronnie) Cribb, Angie (Andy) Hughes, and Shelia (Keith) Pyle; grandchildren, Chad (Lacinda) Burrows, Heather (Michael) Dennis, Chasity (Brian) Garman, Kylie (Will) Tanner, Neal (Jessica) Collins, Nicholas (Melana) Collins, Ashley (Jason) Raley, and Melissa Carr; great-grandchildren, Trenton Burrows, Michaela Dennis (Briley) Lawrimore , Meghan Dennis, Colton Burrows, Keri Garman, Braelyn Garman, Hayden Dennis, Zeke Tanner, Raegan Collins, Bryant Garman, Addison Collins, AJ Tanner, Jace Raley, Kacie Raley, Ila Carr, and granddogs, Zeb Pyle, Charley, and Hank. In addition to her treasured husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Dot Tyler, and a sister, Elaine Tyler Whitaker.

Agnes was the cherished spouse of Quincy Moore, Jr., with whom she shared a life full of joy and companionship. Together, they raised a family that included their sons, Tracy Moore (Angel), Chris Moore (Monica); and their daughter, Leslie Thompson (Dennis). Agnes was a proud and devoted grandmother to Mary Lavender (Steven), C.J. Moore, Tracy Moore, Jr., Amber Thompson, and April Thompson. She was also blessed to see the next generation grow with her great-grandchildren, Travis Moore, Isabella Lavender, and Luke Gifford.

She was the beloved sister to Sue Cannon (Billy), Nellie Pope (Lewis), Elaine Mercer, Diane Goins, Judy Norris, and Horace Cribb (Sharen). Agnes was predeceased by her parents, Wade Opal Cribb and Annie Mae McDaniel Cribb, and brothers, Wayne Cribb and Ricky Cribb.

Agnes was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She most of all enjoyed being a homemaker extraordinaire, creating a warm and welcoming space where all felt cherished and cared for.

Known for her strong will, Agnes was a woman of remarkable fortitude and determination. She possessed a zest for life that was evident in her hobbies and interests. Agnes loved to shop, always in search of the perfect item to add to her cherished collections. Her love for the soap opera "The Young and The Restless" was well-known among her family and friends.

Most of all, Agnes loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, dedicating her life to their well-being and happiness. Her selfless acts of kindness, whether big or small, were done with love and without the expectation of anything in return.

Agnes's family will forever cherish the memory of her loving guidance, her hearty laughter, and the unwavering support she provided to each of them. She leaves behind a legacy of love and the reminder to always embrace life with a spirited heart.

Ida's life was a testament to her love for her family, which included her children, Jason Mooney (Jill), Aimee Pope (Lewis), Sheilla Pitts (Johnny), and Veronica Pruitt Hargues. She was the cherished grandmother to Aiden Mooney, Addisen Mooney, Lillian Robertson (Elijah), Nick Brisino, Marissa Brisino, Khyree Brisino Mooney, Anton Pope, Joey Pope, Angel Pope, Jessica Pitts, Johnathan Pitts, Shawn Coots, Jacob Hargues, and Quinton Hargues. Great grandmother to Knox Robertson, Sunday Robertson, Lila Pope, and Royce Pope. Ida's sisters, Barbara Woods (Jason) and Candice McCollum, along with her brother, Dale Griffin.

A homemaker by profession, Ida found great pleasure in accompanying her spouse on long-haul truck drives across the country, marveling at the beauty of the landscape and the diversity of the American countryside. Her passion for life was evident in her hobbies, which included diamond art, making jewelry, and crocheting. In her early years, Ida loved to spend time at the beach and hiking in the mountains, embracing the natural world with open arms.

Ida's love for her Lord and reading her bible, was matched only by her love for her family and the joy she found in shopping.

A private service will be held at a later date. Her family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at McLeod Hospice House for their compassionate care and support during Ida's final days.

The values instilled by his family shaped Roby into a man of great character, one who would go on to build a life as sturdy and reliable as the structures he crafted with his own hands. Roby was a revered 2nd Generation Brick Mason. For 42 years, he was the owner and operator of Jowers Masonry Construction, where his reputation for quality and integrity was as solid as the foundations he laid.

Roby's heart found its match in his beloved wife, Emmie Graham Jowers, with whom he shared countless adventures and moments of joy. He was a proud father to Angela J Davila (Anthony), Paulette J Owens (Martin), Robyn J Elliott (Darryl), Jeffery Richardson (Kristen), and Scott Richardson. His legacy continued to flourish through his grandchildren, Jameson Owens (Megan), Jordon Owens (Nina), Anderson Owens (Mary), Mason Owens (Leah), Parker Owens, Caroline Davis (Grant), Cameron Thompson, Joseph Owens, Kara Emily Richardson, Briley Richardson, Kadence Richardson and his eight great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the lessons and love he imparted.

He was the cherished brother of Francis McMakin, Regina Tanner, Earnestine Perry, and Levon Jowers (Nanette). The bond he shared with his siblings was one of respect, laughter, and an unspoken understanding that only siblings can know.

As a devout member of Johnsonville Pentecostal Holiness Church for 50 years, Roby's faith was a guiding light in his life. He lived his beliefs, offering kindness and support to all who knew him. His hands, strong from years of bricklaying, were equally adept at offering a comforting embrace or clasping the hand of a friend in need.

Roby's love for the outdoors was as expansive as the South Carolina skies. He found solace and excitement in deer and quail hunting and could often be found with a fishing rod in hand, patiently waiting for the next catch. Travel was another of Roby's joys, especially when his journeys were led by his adventurous wife, Emmie.

Funeral services will be 4:15 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Freedom Tabernacle Full Gospel Church, 264 Roy Drive, Hemingway, SC 29554. Officiating will be Rev. Wayne Elliott, Rev. Billy Miles, and Rev. Jimmy Marsh. Burial to follow at Garden of Devotion Cemetery, 800 South Georgetown Highway, Johnsonville, SC 29555.

Her journey led her to cross paths with her beloved spouse, General Allan Richard Smith, with whom she built a beautiful family. She was a devoted mother to Natasha Sari Ryce (Steve) and Tamara Joy Chucci and a cherished grandmother to Leslie Ann Ryce, Stevie Ryce, Shawn Ryce, Jessie Ryce, Joey Chucci, Josh Chucci, and Michael Kave. Her family was the center of her universe, and she poured her boundless love into every moment with them. Maggie was also a loving sister to her late sister, Wanda Bartlett, whose memory she held close to her heart.

Professionally, Maggie excelled as an Administrative Legal Secretary, where her keen intellect and warm demeanor made her a respected figure. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her commitment to community service. As Chairwoman of numerous organizations, including the Washington Cherry Blossom Festival, Special Olympics for Down Syndrome, and Meals on Wheels, Maggie's leadership and compassion touched countless lives. Her work with these organizations was not just a duty but a calling that she fulfilled with grace and enthusiasm.

Maggie was an avid water ballet swimmer and a team member of the Ester Williams Aquarium in Norfolk, V.A.  She was a beautiful ice skater with the Detroit Red Wings, "The Wing Dings" that performed ice skating routines during the hockey game intermission periods.

Maggie's creative spirit shone brightly in her role as the Church Organist and Choir Director of Christ United Methodist Church. A woman of many talents, Maggie had a particular passion for the beauty of nature. She enjoyed flowers and making arrangements, and her talent for gardening was nothing short of extraordinary. Maggie's green thumb and creative eye led her to assist in designing the landscape for the entrances of many communities she lived in, enhancing the surroundings for all to enjoy.

His work was more than a job—it was an art that he approached with precision and pride, leaving behind a tangible legacy.

On November 9, 1991, Julian married the love of his life, Linda Waynette Ackerman Morris. Their partnership was blessed with six wonderful children: David "Davey" Julian Morris, III (Jessica), Julie Morris (Kasey Owens), Rainey Morris (Gage Tilton), Melanie Morris (Nick Landolfi), Jessie Morris, and Mary Jane Morris. Julian's role as a father and grandfather was paramount, a source of immense joy and pride. He doted on his grandchildren: David "Davidson" Julian Morris IV, Railyn Tilton, Bryson Morris, Karoline Owens, Carter Rabon, Khloe Mae Owens, and Julian Kaydze Landolfi.

Julian's family extended beyond his immediate household, with his mother, Pencie Ruth Thweatt, sisters, Susan Morris and Christy Morris; brother, Kenny Hughes (Kathy); niece, Megan Jessee (Josh), nephew, Joel Morris; father in-law and mother in- law, Wayne and Linda Ackerman. His father, David Julian Morris, Sr., predeceased him, leaving Julian to carry on the family name with honor and dignity.

Known affectionately as "Juice Man" by those closest to him, Julian's zest for life was infectious. A lifetime member of White's Bay Hunting Club, he was an avid hunter and proudly held a state record for a buck, a feat he relished sharing with anyone who would listen. Julian's love of Ford and racing was one he shared with his family. His green thumb was evident in his gardens he maintained, and he took great pleasure in teaching his children and grandchildren the art of planting and harvesting.

Julian's faith was an important aspect of his life, and he was a dedicated member of Piney Forest Baptist Church. His community knew him as a man who was not only handy but also loving and adventurous. He lived his life with a spirit of generosity, often lending a helping hand to neighbors and friends.

As we say goodbye to Julian, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a story well-told. His memory will continue to guide and inspire his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Julian's journey on earth has ended, but his spirit remains a beacon of light for all of us.

This project was not just a business venture but a dream that Don and Minnie turned into a reality, enriching the local community, and creating a legacy that would endure.

He dedicated himself to this endeavor, shaping the airwaves with his talent and vision. Later in life, Don continued to evolve professionally, channeling his expertise into the field of computers as a sought-after consultant.

Don was a man of many interests and talents. His hobbies were as diverse as his skills, ranging from a deep appreciation for music to a fascination with sound equipment. He was known for his love of radio dramas, his enthusiasm for movies, and his talent in acting. Photography captured his creative eye, while computer programming challenged his analytical mind. These passions reflected the complexity and richness of Don's character.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Minnie Paul Hastings, his loving son, Donald Hastings, Jr. (Lisa), and his cherished grandchildren, Haley and Ian Hastings; a sister, Nelle Eargle (Wayne).

His friendly demeanor and willingness to lend a hand made him a beloved figure in his community.

Wayne leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter Rosa Goude, who will miss him dearly. Wayne’s sisters, Candace Williams and Arletha Mack (Rembert) will fondly remember their brother's hearty laugh and advice. His special friends, Jackie Pope and Sarah Owen, will cherish the memories of the good times shared with Wayne. He was a cherished uncle to his nephews, Eric Williams, Lex Williams, Ryan Mack, and Patrick Mack, as well as to his numerous great-nephews and nieces. Each of them benefited from his wisdom and kindness, and they will carry forward his legacy of hard work and integrity.

Preceding him in death were his beloved parents, Humbert Quinby Goude and Rosa Lee Goude, his wife, Bonnie Edge Goude, his grandson, Javin Goude, his brother, H. Dyke Goude, and his special friend, Mona Atkins.

Cindy's love for spending time with her family and friends was unmatched, and her ability to bark orders humorously to keep everyone in line will be fondly remembered.

Cindy was a people person through and through, able to strike up a conversation and make a connection with anyone she met. Her friendly demeanor and genuine interest in others' lives made her a beloved figure in her community. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her husband Warren (Ed) Hall, daughter Wendy H. Bielec, parents Alfred H. Cole and Mary F. Cole, and siblings Doris, Evelyn, Robert, Mary Lou, George, and Gladys.

June’s selfless love, vibrant spirit and nurturing nature touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a devoted wife to her late husband Ed, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. June’s world revolved around her children and grandchildren. Daily phone conversations with her siblings were a source of comfort and joy.

Beyond her family, June was a dedicated employee at B. Forman & Co., Dr. Philip D’Angelo, DDS, Campbell’s Florist and CVS. Her strong work ethic and motherly nature made her a respected figure both at work and in the community.

A long-standing member of Avon Central Presbyterian Church, June’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She served as a Deacon in her church community with the same love and devotion she gave to family and friends.

In her leisure time, June enjoyed any game of chance. Specifically, Yahtzee, a card game of Pitch and several annual trips to the local casinos, where she would play the quarter slots. Beyond her gambling “itch” she enjoyed reading Danielle Steel books, doing her word search puzzles, watching the Hallmark Channel and routing for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

As we remember June, we celebrate a life that exemplified selflessness, love, and generosity. Her legacy is one of enduring love and the countless lives she touched with her caring spirit. June’s memory will continue to inspire those she leaves behind, and her light will shine through her family and friends that she loved so dearly.
