Grant Harrison Carroll - June 22, 2006 - April 16, 2024

Departed: 04/16/2024 (Coeur d'Alene)
Obituary Preview: Grant Harrison Carroll, age 17, passed away April 16, 2024 after a courageous 10-month battle with Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma. He was born on June 22, 2006 at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, Washington. From the moment he came into the world, he had a personality and smile that could fill a room. He would be the first to share a funny story, tell a witty joke and could be counted on for a big hug with his head tucked into your shoulder. He loved to spend time with his friends and family, especially his youngest cousins who even on the hardest days, could bring a smile to his face. Grant loved the outdoors. He spent every summer camping with his family and wake boarding with friends, every winter snowboarding at 49 Degrees North and loved hiking with his mom so that they could celebrate the accomplishment and rewarding view. He was a hard worker and appreciated learning new skills that required the use of his hands and his mind. If you wanted something moved, designed, or built; you could count on Grant. Even if he didn’t know how, he would learn for you. A lover of team sports, he played years of Pop Warner football, some Track and Field but found his greatest passion in wrestling for Mead High School. During the off season, he could be found at wrestling camps, attending tournaments, or working out in the gym to improve for the next match. Earlier this year, he traveled to Tacoma, Washington to watch the state championship to support his teammates even though his health was declining. He loved Star Wars and Legos, his dog Tater and never lost faith in God’s promise.
Grant’s strength was not only physical. When he was told his diagnosis was terminal, he never gave up fighting. He continued to discuss college plans, where he wanted to travel to eat street vendor food, and how this experience had changed his career choice from an airline pilot to an Oncology Nurse. Never wanting his illness to be an excuse, he shocked everyone when he ran out on the wrestling mat to accept a final forfeited win from Ferris High School after asking his mom to disconnect his oxygen and pain pump. When asked how he managed to find the strength, he confidently said, “When you hit the mat, you run. That’s just what you do.” His positive outlook and love of life was a consistent source of strength for all of us.
We want to thank the immense outpouring of love and support that Grant and our family have received which include the Doctors and Nurses at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, his surgery team at Seattle Children’s Hospital, Denise and Lindsay with the Childhood Cancer Coalition, the Mead School District, Cinola Restaurant and Lounge, and the entire Spokane community.
Grant is survived by his loving parents, Michael Shane and Terra Lee Carroll (Dowers); his brother, Tyler Scott; and sister, Abigail Elizabeth Carroll; his grandparents, Terry Dowers and Lori Carpenter, Bruce and Lee Nicholas (Zucker); his “Nanny and Thomas” Catherine and Thomas Steinback; uncles and aunts, Scott and Kerri Dowers, Dave and Cathie Norton, Mike and Renee Garrett, and Jason Egan; along with many loving cousins, extended family and an immense group of friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mardi Carroll (Trask).

Beverlee Lou Harnack - August 18, 1928 - April 11, 2024

Departed: 04/11/2024 (Coeur d'Alene)
Obituary Preview: Beverlee Lou Harnack, 95 of Polson, Montana passed away on April 11, 2024 in Post Falls, Idaho after a
happy year at Guardian Angels Homes in dementia care. Beverlee was born on August 18, 1928 in Anacortes, Washington to Charles and Helen (Lang) Burnaby. Her father served in the Coast Guard and Beverlee’s childhood was spent in the Pacific Northwest. Her family lived on Whidbey Island and Tatoosh Island, Washington, Ketchikan, Alaska and finally Seattle, Washington. Beverlee graduated in 1946 from Lincoln High School in Seattle.
Beverlee attended Western Washington College in Bellingham, completed an education degree and began her teaching career in 1950. She taught in Washington for several years but eventually moved to Great Falls, Montana to be near grandparents and enjoy the drier climate. While teaching she met Edward Harnack, a soil scientist employed by the Bureau of Reclamation in Great Falls. They were married in 1955 and had two daughters, LouAnne and Sheila and a home together in Great Falls until 1983 when Ed passed suddenly. In 1985, Beverlee moved to Polson to be near family and to enjoy a beautiful view of Flathead Lake from a home she had built just for that reason. She lived there, on her own for 38 years enjoying her Montana life, the Flathead Lake view, her family and friends, feeding the birds and tending her yard. Beverlee passes on her love and respect for nature, care for the environment and a belief in democracy and human rights. She loved Montana backroads, rivers, streams, lakes, mountains, and prairies. She never missed a chance to pick up an interesting rock, spot a bird or wildflower, check the sky or comment on the view. She also loved the Puget Sound and Washington coast - the lighthouses, beaches, boats, tides, and
sharing stories of her childhood there and life during WWII. Beverlee is survived by daughters, LouAnne (Jay) Krantz and Sheila (Dennis) DeLay, both of Polson; four granddaughters - Addie (Justan) Kinsel, Skyla (Bryce) Krantz, both of Post Falls, Idaho, Rachel DeLay and Karisa DeLay both of Hayden Lake, Idaho; and four great grandchildren, Finn, Norah, Josie and Zaylee who
gave her great joy.
A gathering to celebrate Beverlee’s life is being planned for a future date, but until then take time to look for a rock or wildflower, glimpse a bird, and enjoy the view.
Beverlee’s family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at the Cottage - Guardian Angel Homes, Tiffany Kugler- Heritage Health, Auburn Crest Hospice all of Post Falls, and Yates Funeral Home for all the care and support.
