Obituary Preview: Dennis J. Sindrey June 15, 1935 - April 25, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dennis J. Sindrey, who departed from our lives on April 25, 2024. Dennis was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose presence brought joy and warmth to all who knew him.
Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Dennis lived a life marked by love, kindness, and devotion to his family. He was the cherished husband of Cherry (Wong) Sindrey, and together they shared a bond that was a beacon of love and strength. Dennis was a dedicated father to Christine (Popp) and Dennis Jr., instilling in them the values of integrity, compassion, and resilience.
As a young musician, Dennis went to Jamaica where he spent 10 years playing popular Jamaican calypso, mento, and what would later become known as ska to the early Jamaican music scene. He will be remembered as a major contributor to the pioneering days of ska music.
Dennis's family was his pride and joy, and he found immense happiness in the role of father and grandfather. He leaves behind his loving daughter Christine, son-in-law, William, and his grandson, Sean, who brought endless delight into his life. In recent years, Dennis found solace and companionship in the home of his family where he was surrounded by love (and his favorite dog Russell).
Dennis was larger than life, he was a master storyteller and songwriter who possessed a wonderful sense of humor. He was kind, smart and generous to friends and strangers alike. We will miss his laugh, his announcement each time he was going to make a cup of tea or cocoa, and the countless memories he shared with those he held dear.

Melissa Ann Pneuman - February 10, 1959 - April 22, 2024

Departed: 04/22/2024 (Port St. Lucie)
Obituary Preview: Melissa Ann Pneuman, loving mother, devoted partner, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 65 on April 22, 2024, in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Born on February 10, 1959, to Allen and Bonnie Smith (Hall), Melissa spent her first fifty years of life in her hometown of Wooster, Ohio.
Melissa's life was one of unwavering dedication to her family and the communities she served. In her youth, she found joy and purpose as a lifeguard and swim instructor, sharing her love for the water with countless students. Her nurturing nature led her to a fulfilling career as a Group Supervisor for an adult care facility for the State of Ohio, where she made a significant impact on the lives of those she cared for with grace and dignity.
Family was the cornerstone of Melissa's life. She is survived by her two loving children, Shane Green (married to Alyssa) and Sara Green (married to James Boyd), who she raised with her late former husband, Thomas Green. Her grandson, Warren Green, was the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with him. Melissa found love and companionship in Florida with her life partner, Dennis Wynn, who stood by her side through life's many adventures. She was a beloved sister to her brother, Timothy Smith. Melissa was preceded in death by her parents Allen and Bonnie, and by her husband, Bruce Pneuman, whose memory remained a guiding star in her life.
Melissa's interests were as vibrant and colorful as her personality. She adored collecting pink flamingos and mermaids, a testament to her whimsical spirit and love for the fantastical. The beach was her haven, a place where she felt most at peace with the sand between her toes and the ocean's rhythm in her ears. Her passion for gardening was evident in the beautiful oasis she cultivated, often remarking that she was "happiest when she had a little bit of dirt in her beer," a phrase that captured her playful and earthy character.
As we bid farewell to Melissa Ann Pneuman, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the indelible mark she has left on our hearts. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her compassionate soul. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories we share and the love we continue to give in her honor. Rest in peace, dear Melissa, your legacy of love endures.

Donald MacDougall - October 24, 1930 - April 19, 2024

Departed: 04/19/2024 (Port St. Lucie)
Obituary Preview: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Elwood MacDougall. He was a loving husband, father, bampa, great-grandfather, and friend to all. He passed away on April 19, 2024, at the age of 93.
Donald was born in Watertown, MA, on October 24, 1930, to the late Donald and Frances MacDougall. His sisters Doris, Virginia, and Marilyn preceded him in death. Donald met and married his high school sweetheart Joan Marie MacDougall 72 years ago. He asked her out at the Watertown High School football game; the rest was history. Donald was a 2nd Class Airman in the United States Airforce. After receiving an honorable discharge, he went on to work with Joan at Western Electric (where she won the "Hello Charley Girl" award for being the best-looking woman - what a lucky guy!). He had a wonderful life with his wife Joan having one beautiful daughter and five handsome boys. They were a musical family, and you'd often find him singing along with the family band. A trait he carried through his whole life! It might have also contributed to his selective hearing later in life (whadya say Bonnie?)
Donald's life was a beautiful blend of Massachusetts' Cape Cod ocean breezes and Florida's palm trees and perpetual sunshine. For the past 44 years, he found immense joy in his role as a Bampa to 13 and a Great-Grandfather to 13, a role that brought him endless happiness and cherished memories.
Donald was known for his love of (and disdain for "those bums") the Red Sox and Patriots! He loved bringing his big family together to celebrate and, an ever-perfectionist, always ensured the Blueberry Dessert was up to his standards (you can't forget to use the back of the spoon to create the peaks in the dream whip).
Donald was preceded in death by the love of his wife, Joan Marie. He leaves behind his children Glenn and his wife Lisa, Donald and his wife Dawn, Wendell and his wife Linda, Bonnie Brown and her life partner Bill Parker, Lawrence and his wife Jennifer, and Greg and his wife Judy.
He was the much-loved Bampa of Kelli, Michael, Jeffrey, Corey, James, Shane, Tara, Derek, Aiden, Maggie, Molly, Brandon, and Logan. He was also the much-adored great-grandfather of Alana, Finley, Maisie, Carter, Benjamin, Evelyn, Sadie Mae, Bridgette, Connor, Javier, Mariah, Anthony, and Lachlan. Contributions in Donald's memory may be made to: AMVETS

David Leon Cory - September 30, 1937 - April 12, 2024

Departed: 04/12/2024 (Port St. Lucie)
Obituary Preview: David L. Cory, age 86 of Palm City, FL passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024, with his wife by his side.
David spent his early years growing up on a farm in Mt Summit, Indiana before moving to Florida with his parents in 1952. He knew as a young boy he wanted to become a banker, when he would drive his grandfather's tractor loaded with tomatoes he was delivering to the market through the small town and would see his uncle through a window sitting well dressed in a suit working in the bank.
He attended North Miami High School and began his career in banking working part time at the American National Bank of North Miami. After his High School graduation, the officers of the bank thought he had the potential to become an exceptionally good banker. Therefore, American National Bank sent him to the Stonier School of Banking at Rutgers University to further his education.
Dave met Ernestine DiLoreto, who also worked at the bank. They were married and had 62 beautiful years together.
He later became the president of the American Bank of Hollywood and served as its President from 1972 until his retirement in 1999. Those who worked with him knew him as a gentleman in every sense of the word. His work ethic in the banking system also led to his being director of the Florida Banker's Association in 1992.
His commitment to the community was unparalleled. Dave was a past president, director, or chairman of so many of Hollywood and Broward County major organizations including Hollywood Rotary Club, Easter Seals of Broward County, Committee of 100, Memorial Health Systems of Broward, Greater Hollywood YMCA, and Junior Achievement of Broward County to name a few. He also served in the Florida National Guard as a 2nd Lieutenant from 1962 - 1970 and later as a Reserved Commissioned Officer.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dave's personal life was filled with the joy of shared experiences with his family. He enjoyed traveling, boating, fishing, golfing, and woodworking.
He was the devoted and loving husband of Ernestine DiLoreto Cory; father of Cheri McCrary, and Christopher Cory; grandfather of Matthew McCrary, Morgan McCrary, Casey Cory, and Mason Cory.
Dave was a man best described by those who knew him as kind, selfless and loving. His ability to touch lives without expecting anything in return was a testament to his character. Dave will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire all who carry the many beautiful memories of him in their hearts. We will be announcing the Celebration of Life Information as soon as we can, or as Dave would like to say, "In due time."

Pradel Bonnet Sr. - July 16, 1948 - April 03, 2024

Departed: 04/03/2024 (Port St. Lucie)
Obituary Preview: Brethren, we are gathered here not in sorrow, but in celebration of the life of a beloved man, a patriarch, a beacon of joy and faith-Pradel Bonnet Sr., known affectionately to his cherished one as "My Fiancé." Born on the sixteenth day of July 1948 on the island of La Gonave, Haiti, Pradel's journey on this earthly plane came to a peaceful close as he was called home in his sleep on the third day of April, 2024 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Brother Pradel was a man of steadfast love and devotion. He was a loving husband to his dear wife Bernadette, and a guiding star for his children Pradel Jr. (Sandra), Pradeline (Kevin), Fitzgerald (Tracy), Marjorie, Marlo, Dahomin (Courtney), and Beatrice (Evelyn). He was preceded in glory by his son, James. Pradel's life was a testament to the enduring strength of family and the bonds that tie us together through the trials and triumphs of life.
A man of humble beginnings, Pradel was a diligent provider, splitting his time and talents between the bustling aisles of Sears and the busy terminals of JFK Airport. His laughter filled the back stockrooms, his charisma brightened the days of his colleagues, and his reliability ensured travelers were reunited with their belongings. Pradel's work ethic was matched only by his spirit of service and camaraderie.
In his leisure, Pradel was an ardent fan of the grand old game of baseball, and he loved boxing a pastime he watched with fervor and joy. He was a master of the domino table, a fisherman patient and true, and a singer whose voice carried the melodies of family radio tunes. Cruises were his delight, a chance to see the wonders of God's creation, sailing upon His vast and mighty seas.
Pradel Bonnet Sr. lived as a loving, faith-filled, and optimistic soul. Pradel was going to church since 86 but gave his life to the lord ten years later in 96. At that point he did not look back and ran for the Lord. He became a Deacon at Highland Church where he served there for nine years until he moved to Florida and stayed committed to the Lord. His life a reflection of the words spoken by the Apostle Paul: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7) Indeed, Pradel fought valiantly, ran earnestly, and kept his faith unshaken.
As a southern preacher might say, let us not dwell in the valley of grief, but rather climb the mountain of memory, where the air is crisp with laughter and the sun shines warmly on the good deeds of the righteous. Let us hold fast to the image of Pradel, a man who danced in the light of the Lord, who loved without reservation, and whose optimism was a beacon to all who knew him.
So, as we bid farewell to Brother Pradel, let us do so with the assurance that he has entered the Kingdom of Heaven, where the streets are golden, the waters are still, and the good Lord wipes away every tear. We shall not say goodbye, but rather, until we meet again, for in the house of the Father, there are many mansions, and Pradel has gone ahead to prepare a place for us all.
We thank the Almighty for the gift of Pradel Bonnet Sr.'s life, for the joy he brought, for the love he shared, and for the hope he instilled. His legacy shall live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his spirit shall continue to guide us, as we walk the path of righteousness, striving to emulate his loving nature, his faith, and his unwavering optimism. Go in peace, Brother Pradel, and may the angels lead you into paradise. Amen.

Barbara Louise Thompson - June 11, 1933 - March 21, 2024

Departed: 03/21/2024 (Port St. Lucie)
Obituary Preview: Barbara Louise Titus Thompson, affectionately known as Barbara, lived a vibrant and loving life from her birth on June 11, 1933, in Quincy, MA, until her peaceful passing on March 21, 2024, in Ft. Pierce, FL. Her 90 years on this earth were marked by an unwavering spirit and an enduring love that touched everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Barbara's journey was one of joy, style, and an indomitable zest for life.
Before her well-deserved retirement, Barbara enjoyed her career in banking and with a gold bullion company. She and her late husband Warren Thompson embraced their golden years in the 1990s with the same passion they had for life, cherishing moments in their waterfront condo in Pompano. Barbara's story is the legacy she leaves behind through her family.
Barbara was the heart of her family, sharing her life with Warren, DuWayne, and her beloved children: Scott Thompson and his wife Michele, JoAnne Rountree (late husband Mike Rountree), Roberta Hicks and her husband Larry, and Traci Edwards and her husband Jon. Her grandchildren, Jason Rountree, Stephen Rountree (previously deceased), Jonathan and Shelly, Christopher and Nicole, Barbara Jean Hicks and Trey Thofner, Katie and Manoli Collaros, Christina and Randy Aguililla, and her great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jane, Emma, Athena, Ali, Emmett, Ryder, and Ellie, were the joys of her life. Barbara's love for her family guided and uplifted them through every stage of their lives.
Barbara's life was a testament to the power of maintaining close bonds and cherishing every family gathering and social event. Her impeccable fashion sense and the care she took of herself were outward reflections of her inner grace and vitality. She had tremendous faith in God, and lived with the philosophy that life is not just to be lived, but to be celebrated. Alongside Warren, she traveled extensively in the US and abroad, collecting memories and friendships that would last a lifetime. For the past few years she enjoyed living on the water, boating and sunsets from her backyard with her present husband DuWayne on Lake Okeechobee.
In every room she entered, Barbara brought light and energy. Her love was a nurturing force, her thoughts always considerate, and her spirit an enduring flame that warmed those around her. Barbara's life reminds us all to live fully and love deeply. Barbara embraced this sentiment wholeheartedly, turning every day into a fun adventure filled with love and laughter.

Barbara will be dearly missed, but her legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her. Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.

Sandra Rochella Chung - May 15, 1944 - February 29, 2024

Departed: 02/29/2024 (Port St. Lucie)
Obituary Preview: Sandra Rochella Chung (nee Buckland) was born May 15, 1944 to loving parents Harold St. John and Celia Bouvier Buckland in Franklin Town, Jamaica, West Indies. She was the youngest of three children; Carroll (her eldest brother, affectionately known as "Junior") and Carl Anthony.
Sandra met her beloved Kingsley, in Jamaica, in the early 1960s. They spent the rest of that decade falling in love, and were married in November of 1970. After marriage, Sandy became a part-time employee at the local store (A&L Supermarket) that the Chung's owned, as the couple welcomed their 3 children together (Natalie, Kurt and Kinita). Kingsley and Sandy continued to run the supermarket until 1977, when Kingsley, Sandy, and their Pickney migrated to the US and settled in Silver Springs, Maryland. The family would remain here for the next 40 years, where their family would continue to grow to include many grandchildren (and even a great-grandchild), until they retired and made their way down to cozy Port St. Lucie, Florida in 2016.
If you knew Sandy, you knew that she loved music, and would often be heard singing to herself (or anyone who would listen) or breaking out into one of her famous dance moves (the most famous being: her hands up with the hip wiggle!) Some of her favorite singers included the likes of Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, and Neil Sedaka. However, her overall favorite was gospel music star Mahalia Jackson. Some of Jackon's most cherished songs that brought such warmth to Sandy's heart were: "Take My hand", "Precious Lord", and "How I Got Over". Her adoration of Mahalia Jackson also transferred to the big screen, as she starred in Sandy's favorite movie "Imitation of Life" (1959), as a church choir soloist; a movie that touched on issues that she cared about deeply (such as race, class, gender, equality, etc.). Sandy would get so excited at the end of the movie when Mahalia sings a powerful song ("Trouble of the World") at the funeral of a character in the film named Annie. This was her absolute favorite. Sandra 's warm gentle nature wasn't just on display when she soulfully gave her best Mahalia Jackson rendition. No... This was who she was at her core. The type of nurturing woman who would give you the shirt off her back, if she thought for even a second, that you were in need. In addition to said kindness, her inquisitiveness and keen intellect drove her in all pursuits/endeavors. There is a quote from Mahalia Jackson that perfectly touches on Sandra's character: "If you believe in God, He will open the windows of heaven and pour blessings upon you."
Sandy was certainly blessed, and she shared her blessings with all those who knew her; touching/impacting many lives.
On February 29th, 2024 the good Lord called our dearest Sandy home. Her departure has left a profound void that has been felt throughout the entire family, as well as countless others who loved and cared for her deeply. She will be greatly missed by her doting husband Kingsley; her children Natalie, Kurt, and Kinita; her grandchildren Chyna, Solaris, Darren, and Kingston; her great-grandson Ismail; as well as a host of close relatives, family, and friends.
The family will invite friends to visit, Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 3PM until the service begins a 4PM.
