Obituary Preview: Robert Jason Davis, 47, of Plains Township, a loving husband, dad, and Army Veteran passed unexpectedly on Thursday, December 28, 2023.
Born in Bethlehem on September 9, 1976, he was the son of Susan White Blawusch. Rob was raised in the Bethlehem area and attended schools in the Bethlehem area. Rob at a young age developed a passion for being a mechanic and working on vehicles.
Rob, just out of school, started his own business in South Carolina installing car windows. He was doing well with his business until the recession hit and he closed down the business and returned back to the Wyoming Valley.
At the age of 29, Robert made a life decision and joined the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He served as a specialist and as a diesel mechanic working in the motor pool when he was deployed to Kuwait in 2012-2013. After returning home he still served his community with the National Guard during multiple occasions of flooding along the river when the Guard was called into help.
During this time in his life, Rob met Regina Drasher, who he became a good friend with over seven years. Regina recalls Rob had a special twinkle in his eye and Rob was the life of every party that he was at. Rob would go above and beyond for anyone that he called a friend or family. After a short time together, the happy couple was married on September 5, 2020. Rob filled every moment with laughter of his bad dad jokes and time dancing with his wife. He was loyal and a protector of his family and friends. He was kind hearted, generous, and loved with all he had to give. He could cook and barbecue with the best of us. It is just a horrible tragedy that the light of his life is gone way too soon.
Rob worked for the Lowe’s Home Improvement Store Distribution Center in Pittston for ten years. Currently, he was working for the Cleveland Brother’s in Pittston. When he was at home, Rob was studying to get his Business Management Degree from Colorado Technical University and he was just accepting a job as a federal officer for the Department of Homeland Security working with the Transportation Security Administration at the Lehigh Valley Airport.
When he wasn’t with his first love, his family. He was with his second, working on his jeep in the garage. He spent hours working on it to get it ready for another fun weekend ahead of going off roading. He enjoyed the Jeep Life. He also enjoyed a cold Yuengling Lager while watching Nascar at the L.A.N.I. Club with his fellow veterans.
Now there will be an empty stool where Rob sat, just make sure somebody plays a Journey song in his memory.
Rob now joins in heaven his loving grandmother and Veteran Ruth White-Terwilliger, a World War II Veteran.
Surviving to mourn Rob loss are his loving wife of three years Regina, at home; his mother Susan White Blawusch; son Justin Patrick Davis, Plains; sister Elayne Thomas and her husband Jeremy, Harrisburg; brother Christopher Davis and his wife, Bethlehem; best friend and brother Jamie Petrowski and his wife Katie, Plains; nephew Evan Thomas, Harrisburg, and his three pet children, his dog Gunner, Daisy, and Rusty.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Friday, January 5, 2023, from 2:00p.m. until 4:30p.m. at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc. 55 Stark Street, Plains. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will begin at 4:30p.m. services will be rendered by the L.A.N.I; Plains American Legion Post 558, and the United States Army.

Joseph J. Margalis - August 23, 1958 - November 16, 2023

Departed: 11/16/2023 (Plains)
Obituary Preview: Miners Mills is a little less jovial following the death of Joseph Margalis who passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Allied Hospice Center in Wilkes-Barre after a brief illness.
A short, stout, mustachioed man known to many as Beaver, or often Bev-O, he was born, and happily lived his life in the Miners-Mills section of Wilkes-Barre. After graduating from James M. Coughlin High School, he went to Lincoln Technical Institute in Philadelphia where he learned to become an expert diesel mechanic before returning to the Wyoming Valley for a long career with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation where he retired as a Supervisory Diesel Mechanic.
Those who had the chance to hear his raspy voice could reliably rest assured that laughter was soon to follow, especially if they were fortunate enough to hear him shout,"sveikata," (cheers, in Lithuanian) while raising a glass from across the barroom. In the right light, he could carry on conversations for hours about NASCAR and the New York Giants in one one afternoon or swing to the opposite side of culture a few nights later to rave about the Talking Heads and the B-52's. He was a man who loved celebrating his neighborhood and his people. He showed it whether he was doing community work through the Triangle Club or simply lending a concerned ear to his many friends and family members. Joe valued hard work and honesty, values passed on to him by his loving parents.
Though his wit and mischievous smile will be missed, his robust personality ensured that he will not be forgotten. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his favorite feline Bootsie who passed a few hours earlier on the same day as Joe.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth( Betty) Schur; two sisters: Susan Perlis and her husband Joseph, Swedesboro, NJ, and Andrea Stackhouse and her husband Kenny, West Pittston; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends with whom he maintained very close relationships.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the team at the Hospice Center for keeping Joe comfortable and for the kindness and compassion shown to the family during this difficult time, especially Chaplain Gerlin Valencia for his much needed spiritual support.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation and Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Saints Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains Twp. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the start of Mass at 10:00 a.m. Mass will be officiated by Rev. John Lambert, Pastor. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Plains Twp.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., Plains Twp.
