Obituary Preview: Patrick J. Longo, 71 of Toms River, formerly of West Long Branch, died at the Community Medical Center, Toms River.
Pat was born in Jamesburg and had lived in West Long Branch for many years before moving to Toms River two years ago.
For 40 years Pat was the owner and operator of PJ Customs, which was a custom cabinet fabrication business in Long Branch. He enjoyed cooking, especially seafood. Every Sunday would be family dinner, Pat would cook enough for his family and any friends and family that wanted to join in. He was very close to his family , particularly his cousins who introduced him to his wife Cheryl while she was in nursing school.
He was a former member of Bamm Hollow Country Club, where he enjoyed many rounds of golf. He was an avid gardener, growing, eggplant, squash, tomatoes and several other vegetables.
Pat enjoyed spending time his three grandchildren, James, Mia and Joseph.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Cheryl Kiss Longo in 2000.
Surviving is his three sons Patrick J. Longo, II and his wife Susan, Havre De Grace, Md, Charles Longo, Eatontown and Jonathan Longo, Ft. Lauderdale, Fl; his grandchildren, James, Mia and Joseph; his brother Charles A. Longo, Chula Vista, Ca.

Obituary Preview: Esther G. Chrisicos, 95, of West Long Branch, died Friday, December 7, 2018 at home.
She was born May 25, 1923 in Newark, NJ. Her early life was spent in Newark where she graduates high school and lived with her family before marrying and moving to West Long Branch.
Esther was a loving wife, aunt, cousin and friend, she was known for her warm and friendly smile. Esther was knowledgeable in a wide range of subjects; art, culture, politics and religion having traveled the world. Most recently she and her friends traveled to Kenya, Africa on a wildlife safari. There were few world destinations she didn’t see from all of Europe, the Holy Land to the Great Wall of China she covered a lot of miles. If she wasn’t traveling the world with her husband Nick, she would spend time with her friends having breakfast at the Blue Swan diner or lunch at Wegman’s market in Ocean Township.
She was very active member of Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, Ocean NJ for the past 55 years. She loved her Church. She sang in the Church choir, also was a member of The Philoptochos Society, Daughters of Penelope, Chapter 195 and treasurer of the St George Socialites.
Her work career spanned almost 60 years, from working as a teenager in family businesses, running her own lingerie shop in Asbury Park to executive assistant at Central Jersey Bank.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Nicholas Chrisicos; her parents, Mary Kamvissis and George Argyris, and her brother and sister-in-law Peter G. and Francine Argyris.
Surviving is her brother Louis Argyris, Sarasota, Florida; plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Reggie was born in Baltimore, MD. He was raised in Harrison, grew up in California, served in Vietnam, and raised his family in West Long Branch. Reggie graduated from Montclair State College. He was an avid soccer fan enjoying every aspect of the game, but what he held most dear to his heart were his children's sports careers. Reggie retired early to be the caregiver for his mother, Helen, in her final years. The past few years, him and his wife opened up their home to foreign exchange students, where he became a father figure in their lives.
Reggie’s sensitivity and easy going nature made him larger than life in the eyes of his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Patty Annitto Milolon; his son Robert Lee Mikolon, II, West Long Branch; his daughter and her husband, Kaylee and Matthew Villane, Oceanport; and his sister-in-law, Christine Annitto Ronallo, Florida.
Friends may gather with Reggie’s family on Saturday, December 1st at 1 pm at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation, Broadway and Locust Avenue, West Long Branch. Her grandchildren and Great Grandson were the apple of her eye. She enjoyed seeing them and entertaining each grandchild. She even kept one closet in her kitchen that was just stocked with snacks and treats for her grandchildren.

He was an assistant VP with Deutsche Bank, NY, and previously with Ernst and Young. He was the author of several peer-reviewed articles on the global economy. He graduated from Shore Regional High School and the Gabelli School of Business with a BS degree, Fordham University where he also played football. Most of all, he was an outstanding person, thoughtful to friends and family and cared about all those around him. He will be remembered for his smile, his laugh, his enjoyment of life, and his concern for others’ well-being.
He is survived by his father, Dr. Jack and Rev. Dr. Barbara Jarmon of Lakeland, FL and his mother, Barbara A. Jarmon of Eatontown, NJ, his siblings Kristin and Brandon Booth, niece and nephew, Naima and Nicodemus Booth, his grandfather Robert Brown, his uncles and aunts, Dr. Robert Jarmon and Mary Jarmon, who are also his godparents, Thomas and Susan Dilger, and Denise Smith; his cousins Dr. Eric Jarmon, Dr. Mark Jarmon, Michael Jarmon, Dr. Nick Jarmon, Kathleen Wickersham and Stephanie Sullivan, Thomas and Suzanne Simon, Melissa Sturchio, Katie Stivala, Jonathan Dilger, Holly Smith, Laura Smith and numerous other cousins. Kyle had many longtime and new friends. Kyle loved his life and all who were in it. He was predeceased in death, by his grandparents Albert and Helen Jarmon, and Genevieve Brown.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 9th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. She was a longtime parishioner of the First Presbyterian Church of Long Branch, NJ, a member of the Asbury Park Women’s Club, Ocean Township, NJ for over 25 years in which she served as President of the club, Board of Trustees and recognized as NJSFWC State Honor Roll and a life member of Eastern Star of Ocean Chapter No. 214. She was a volunteer at Monmouth Medical Center delivering books to patients and was a volunteer at Frank Antonides Elementary School as a teacher assistant/book reader.
She was predeceased by her parents Harriet and Gilbert Banta, her brother Robert Banta and her great nephew JR Banta.
Se leaves behind her loving husband of 54 years Frank McCain, retired Asbury Park Press photographer for 31 years; niece Barbara Banta of Brick, NJ, three nephews James Banta and his wife Carissa of San Angelo, TX, John Banta and his wife Mimi of Alexandria, VA, and Andrew Fornino and his wife Dori of Long Branch, NJ; two great nieces Sarah Banta of Littleton, CO and Claire Banta Moran of Alexandria, VA; two great nephews Jake Banta of Ashville, NC and Justin Fornino of Long Branch, NJ.
Marilyn will be remembered for her sense of humor, laughter, kindness and talented artist. She’ll be sadly missed by family, friends, the staff at The Chelsea and staff of Grace Healthcare. The family wants to thank all that have touch Marilyn’s life and a special thank you to the wonderful care she was given by the staff at The Chelsea and the staff of Grace Healthcare who are angels on earth.

Born Kathleen Ann McDonnell, daughter of the late Dr. & Mrs. George McDonnell of Freehold, on June 22, 1942. She was the oldest of 14 children. Kathleen graduated from Freehold High School in 1960 and attended Georgetown Visitation. After graduation, Kathleen married Louis J. Tocci, Jr. in 1965. They resided in Monmouth Beach, where they raised their children.
A parishioner of the Church of the Precious Blood since 1965, Kathleen was recently active in the women’s prayer group. Kathleen was very devoted to her religion and adored her church family. She was very proud of her Irish heritage.
Kathleen was predeceased by her sister Maureen Tierney and her brother Patrick McDonnell.
Surviving is her husband Lou; her son Louis, III and his wife Allison, their children Ella & Lauren; her daughter Kathryn Gerst and her husband Shawn; their children Brady & Shea; her siblings Franceen Morris & her husband Jim, Arlene Whitley & her husband Ben, Janine Lozano, Christine McDonnell, Geraldine Guyote & her husband Marty, George McDonnell & his wife Betty, Bernadine Raimondi & her husband Joe, Justine LePino & her husband Ken, Terrance McDonnell, Peter McDonnell & his wife Marva and Kelly Varano & her husband Russell and over 20 nieces and nephew whom she loved dearly.

Elizabeth J. Degnan - June 19, 1927 - October 13, 2018

Obituary Preview: Elizabeth J. Degnan, Ed.D., passed away peacefully at her home in Seabrook Village on Saturday, October 13th.
Elizabeth was an accomplished woman, earning her B.A. degree from Montclair State College in 1949, and her Elementary Certification in 1952. In 1961 she was awarded her M.A. from Catholic University in Washington D.C. where she also served as Director of Women’s Residences and Assistant Dean of Women. She went on to complete her Ed.D. at Rutgers University in 1971.
Before Elizabeth began her career with Middletown Township schools, she completed an internship at Pollak Clinic at Monmouth Medical Center. She then worked as a guidance counselor at Shore Regional High School.
Dr. Degnan retired from a fulfilling career as a School Psychologist for the Middletown Township schools. She was active in many notable and meaningful groups and organizations including the Advisory Board of Brookdale College Career Clinic and the Executive Board of NJ School Psychologists.
For many years she was a communicant of St. Jerome RC Church, West Long Branch. Following her move to Seabrook Village, Elizabeth became a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Asbury Park, where she enjoyed attending Sunday mass with her nephew.
Elizabeth was generous with her gifts and spirit, but mostly her love, advice, and guidance when needed. She was a friend to all and was always willing to extend a helpful hand to anyone in need. Dr. Degnan enjoyed the years she spent living at Seabrook Village, where she was active socially.
She is survived by her loving brother and sister, Jack Degnan and Rosemary Becker, as well as many adoring nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday October 18th, 10:30 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Asbury Avenue, Asbury Park. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

Gary was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Temple University and the Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University. After receiving his D.D.S., Gary served in the U.S. Army Dental Corp and was stationed at Ft. Monmouth, NJ. Upon completing his Army service, Gary received his master’s degree in orthodontics, also from Temple University. He then moved to Freehold with his family, and opened his orthodontics practice, which later became The Brace Place, in Freehold. The Brace Place expanded to 3 locations over 40 years of practice. Dr. Wiser more recently retired to Palm Beach Gardens with his beloved wife of 60 years, Harriet.
Gary is predeceased by his parents, Philip and Edythe Wiser.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet Wiser; his children, Toby Wiser-Stern and her husband Hal, Mindy Wiser-Estin and her husband David, and David Wiser and his wife Suzanne; his sister, Paula Maphis; and his grandchildren, Elana, Ben, Samantha, Josh, Shayna, and Peri.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 7th, at 10am at Congregation Torat El, 301 Monmouth Rd, Oakhurst, NJ. Interment will immediately follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.

Jack Morris - June 10, 1922 - October 01, 2018

Obituary Preview: Jack Morris, 96, a resident of Long Branch for most of his life, died on Monday, October 1st at Brandywine Assisted Living, Shrewsbury.
Mr. Morris was a child of the great depression and learned the value of work at a very young age. He had an entrepreneurial spirit owning and operating several businesses as a young man. He also delivered singing telegrams for Western Union.
Jack proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, where he participated in the D-Day invasion, Battle of the Bulge and several other campaigns. He was awarded numerous medals for his service and conduct. He had great pride in his country and the Army. Following his discharge, he went to work at Fort Monmouth where he became a Supervisor in the Equipment Management Division. After his retirement, Jack went to work for several years at Shore Rentals (Avis) in Matawan, where he was considered a top salesman.

Obituary Preview: Joseph Henry McGarvey III, died on Tuesday, Sept. 18th at Care One in Holmdel, NJ.
Joe was born and raised in Long Branch and lived in Oceanport for 10 years before moving back to Long Branch in 1982. Joe was a graduate of Long Branch High School. He represented his country with pride and was honorably discharged from the US Navy after serving during the Korean War. After the Navy, Joe followed his father and grandfather’s footsteps and became a police officer for the City of Long Branch. He eventually was promoted to detective and was proud to serve the city in which he lived. He later worked for the Monmouth County Office of Weights and Measures.
He was an exempt member of the West End Fire Department, an active member of the Long Branch Elks BPOE #142, the Italian American Memorial Association (IAMA), Long Branch as well as the VFW.
Joe loved to live and enjoyed the many lifetime friendships that he had and took pride in always making new friends. He was an avid fan of Long Branch High School Football, the Police Athletic League boxing program, Monmouth Park and his children and grandchildren. Joe spent many hours keeping up with current events, reading mystery novels and watching old Westerns. An avid baseball and football fan, Joe enjoyed following the Yankees and Giants.
Joe was pre-deceased by his beloved and loving wife Barbara Marks McGarvey; they were married for 53 years when Barbara passed away in 2012.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph IV and Megan, two grandchildren who brought him such joy, Rogan and Mikaela McGarvey of Fair Haven, his daughter, Kathleen McGarvey, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. La Corte was born in West Orange and lived in Short Hills. As a girl, she spent summers with her grandmother and family on Cottage Place in Long Branch. During this time she met Fritz La Corte, her future husband. Doris and Fritz were married on October 2, 1948.
Doris loved the ocean and the La Cortes moved to Pullman Avenue in Elberon in 1960 to a house across from the beach. In this home, the doors were never locked and family and friends were always welcome. Long afternoons were spent around the pool, talking and laughing and enjoying great food. Doris was an exceptional cook and would pull together amazing meals for her family and anyone else who dropped by. She was the heart and soul of the home and, whether it was baking cakes at six in the morning or making sure there were extra towels, through her loving, warm and fun nature, Doris created an atmosphere of joy, making her home the centerpiece of their family and the community that was created by her family and friends. She would set the stage for everyone to enjoy themselves and then just let it all unfold.
Holidays were an especially wonderful time where Doris would gather her large family together to enjoy the holiday feast. It is a tradition she passed on to her children and she will be dearly missed at every holiday table from now on, although her spirit will live always the hearts of all those who loved her. Doris was devoted to the Rosary and would say it often, and all her family and friends were always included in her prayers. Many friends would call and ask her to pray a rosary for their family members
She was pre-deceased in 2004 by her loving husband, Fritz.
