Mary C. Bonaventura - October 29, 1972 - March 22, 2022

Departed: 03/22/2022 (Wolcott)
Obituary Preview: On Tuesday, March 22, 2022, I, Mary (Bento) Bonaventura went to meet the Lord after a long illness with metastatic breast cancer. I became one of the 115 individuals that die each day from metastatic cancer in the United States. Only two to five percent of funds raised for breast cancer is focused on research for metastatic patients. Metastatic breast cancer is when breast cancer cells spread from the breast to other parts of the body. Metastatic breast cancer is terminal.   I leave behind my loving husband, Mark and two kind and caring children, Mia and Michael. I also leave behind my mother, Roberta, who has been an amazing support to me. I leave behind two devoted sisters, Christine and Amy, their spouses and children. Also left behind are my caring in-laws, Mark and Debbie, who have always helped. I know most obituaries talk about where you live, your  education and employment. But when I was diagnosed with a terminal disease none of that mattered. What mattered to me is spending time with my family and creating memories for my children. What I have learned in this journey is to unplug and go outside to watch the sunset or the moon come up. It is a beautiful world out there. I thank the staff of St. Mary's Oncology/Hematology at the Leever Center for exceptional care.  To honor my life and my love for my children, in lieu of flowers, please go in person to any Webster Bank Branch and deposit equal contributions to the educational fund for Mia Bonaventura and Michael Bonaventura; should you have any issues, please contact my husband. Family and friends may gather to celebrate my life during a funeral mass at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception (74 W Main St. Waterbury, CT 06702) on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 starting at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
