Leta Joyce Bailey - June 18, 1942 - April 18, 2022

Obituary Preview: Leta Joyce Bailey was born in Hyden, Kentucky on June 18, 1942 to the late Albert and Faye Jones Shell.  She attended Eastern Kentucky University after high school, then fell in love with her future husband, Bill.  She was united in marriage to Bill Bailey on September 19, 1963 in Jonesville, VA.  Leta was a proud wife and a beloved homemaker.  While Bill worked long hours, Leta always made sure that everything was in tip top shape at home.  From yard work, to cleaning inside and out, to having meals prepared, she went above and beyond to make life as easy and comfortable as possible.  Her favorite music was Country and Bluegrass Gospel.  Her hobbies included going to the lake, fishing, camping, and colleting baby dolls.  She had a vast collection of cabbage Patch dolls.   Leta always enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her family; holidays were her favorite.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She was proud of her family, especially her grandchildren.
She departed from this walk of life on Monday, April 18, 2022 at the age of 79.
In addition to her parents, Leta was preceded in death by two brothers, Pete Shell and Jim Roberts.
Leta leaves surviving her two beloved children; son: Paul Bailey (Marlene) of Hyden, KY and daughter: Rhonda Leddington (Eugene) of Stinnett, KY, three brothers: Bob Shell of Hoskinston, KY, Larry Shell (Linda) of Hyden, KY and Gary Shell (Ruthann) of Hoskinston, KY, one sister: Donna Clark (Rod) of Hyden, KY, four cherished grandchildren, Ashley Hacker (Ben), Lucas Leddington, Jesalyn Maggard and Casey Maggard; two cherished great grandchildren, Bentley and Maverick Hacker.  A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. – Thursday at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Geoffrey Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Shell Family Cemetery at Chappell, KY
The Bailey family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m. – Wednesday evening at the funeral home chapel.

Billy Edward Brock - December 15, 1964 - April 08, 2022

Obituary Preview: Billy Edward Brock, of Hyden, Ky was born December 15, 1964 to the union of the late Wendell and Winnie Sizemore Brock.  He lived most of his life in Leslie County except for living in Ohio for a period of time.  He worked in his former years as a roofer and worked as a coal miner after moving back home to Kentucky.  Billy enjoyed mechanic work, hunting, fishing and four wheeling.  He was a Nascar and basketball fan.  He also enjoyed playing music.  Above all, Billy enjoyed family gatherings and appreciated the time spent with his family.
He departed this life on Friday, April 08, 2022, at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center at the age of 57.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Brock and two brothers, Donald Lynn Brock and Eugene Blue Brock.
Billy leaves behind, three stepdaughters, Barbie Hatton, Rayan Kincer (Fred) and Hope Hatton, all of Dayton, OH, three brothers, Kenneth Wayne Brock of Dayton, OH, Wesley Brock of Hyden, KY and Ballard Brock, Jr. (Melina) of Hyden, KY, one sister, Laura Sizemore (Daniel) of Hyden, KY, and three very special nephews, Cody Brock, Braxton Brock and Logan Sizemore, as well as a host of other cherished nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. – Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at the Rockhouse Baptist Church at Hyden, KY with Ted Couch, Eugene “Friday” Roberts and Jerry Maggard officiating.
Interment will follow in the Albert Morgan Cemetery at Essie, KY with Bobby Osborne, Cody Brock, Logan Sizemore, Daniel Sizemore, Wesley Brock, Kenny Brock, Donald D.J. Brock and Fred Kincer serving as pallbearers.

Gladys Carol Colwell - August 22, 1942 - April 02, 2022

Obituary Preview: Gladys Carol Colwell, age 79, ended her battle with Alzheimer's disease on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky. Carol was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed crafting, spending time with her grandchildren and her occasionally appreciative cat. Carol was a member of the Confluence Baptist Church.
Carol was born in Typo, KY on August 22, 1942 to the late Crusoe and Ella Baker. She was preceded in death by her six brothers (Elmer, Wilson, Jack, Harold, Amos and Nicholas Baker) and her sister Betty Jo Stull. Carol was also preceded in death by her great granddaughter Jocie Hughes.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Green Colwell. Carol is also survived by her daughter Penny, (Mike) Easley, and son Kenneth (Kate) Colwell.  Grandchildren include: Jennifer (Brandon) Hughes, Jacob Colwell, Kylie Colwell, Marion Easley and Phoenix Easley. Great grandsons, Ty Huges and Jack Hughes. She is also survived by a host of special nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1p.m. – Friday, April 08, 2022 at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Dean Feltner and Harold Kemper officiating. Interment will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Southeast, located at 1280 KY-118, Hyden, KY
The family will receive friends for visitation from 11a.m. until the service hour at 1p.m., Friday at the chapel.

He was born November 12, 1972 in Dayton.  Eric is survived by his parents, Wanda (Hall) and Olen Boggs; aunts, Helen (Bob) Brinker, Christine Mitchell, Kathy Hawk; nieces, Abigail Boggs; grand-niece, Hazel; nephews, Dustin Ware, Jimmy Snyder; lots of special cousins, Mack Polston; and many friends in the community.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Helen Hall, Bentley Boggs, Joe and Alberta Browning; uncles, Terry Hall, Aaron Boggs, Omer Boggs, Arlis Boggs, Roger (Gail) Hall, Howard (Charlotte) Cornett, David Mitchell; and aunts, Betty Jo Durham, and Donna Brennan.  Eric enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, and spending time with his friends and family. He loved everyone he met and will be greatly missed by all.  Visitation will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rogers Funeral Home in New Lebanon, with the funeral service to begin at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Holp Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Donna Gail Lewis, born September 11, 1977, to the union of Brenda Howard Cumbo and the late Donnie Lewis.  She had been a life-long resident of Leslie County.  By occupation, she was a former call center supervisor.  She loved the outdoors and enjoyed flowers, and four-wheeler riding.  Shen enjoyed music and above all, spending time with her family and friends.
Donna departed this walk of life on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the Mary Breckinridge A.R.H. Hospital at the age of 44.
In addition to her father, Donna was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Derek Farmer.
Donna leaves surviving, her loving and devoted companion of over 22 years, Greg Farmer of Stinnett, KY; her loving mother, Brenda Howard Cumbo of Hyden, KY; one cherished son, Tyson Jayce “T.J.” Farmer of Stinnett, KY; three beloved brothers, Dean Wilkerson of Hyden, KY, William Cody Cumbo of Hyden, KY and Tony Collett of Stinnett, KY; one beloved sister, Carol Lewis of Hyden, KY; her treasured nephew, Cooper Zayne Simpson and a beloved fur baby, Mindy Lou.  A host of other friends also survive.
The Lewis family will receive friends for a memorial visitation from 5p.m. until 7p.m. – Tuesday evening at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.

Obituary Preview: Bertha Turner, 78, of Yeaddiss, KY departed this life on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center, Hazard, KY.  Bertha was born October 10, 1943 in Leslie County, a daughter of the late Orie Joseph and Ida Pennington.  Bertha was a homemaker.  She was of the Pentecostal faith and attended the Smith Camp Pentecostal Church at Wooton, KY.  Bertha enjoyed traveling, the outdoors, gardening, caring for her chickens and flowers.  Above all, Bertha enjoyed spending time with her family and attending church.
In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Elvin Williams, her second husband, Ivory Turner, one son, Nick Williams, a grandson, Michah Andrew Bull, uncle, Dent Pennington and aunts, Fannie Pennington and Mallie Logan.
Bertha leaves behind, two sons, Michael Williams of Big Laurel, KY, and Charles Ray Williams of Yeaddiss, KY; three daughters, Mallie Coots (Jackie) of Big Laurel, KY, Betty Sue Coots (Benny) of Big Laurel, KY and Ida Pennington (Bill) of Wooton, KY; sixteen cherished grandchildren, fourty cherished great-grandchildren and five cherished great-great grandchildren; three very special friends, Rosalee & Donald Kilburn and Betty Napier. She is also survived by a host of other family and friends whom she loved.
Funeral Services will be held at 3p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Smith Camp Pentecostal Church at Wooton, KY with Alfred Smith and Stevie McDaniel officiating.
Interment will follow in the Will Day Cemetery at Smilax, KY with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Howard N. Sizemore - May 02, 1931 - March 11, 2022

Obituary Preview: Mr. Howard Sizemore  of London, KY, formerly of Hyden, KY was born, May 02, 1931 in Roark, Kentucky, to the union of the late Onzie and Stella Howard Sizemore.  He was united in marriage to Ernestine Colwell on November 23, 1955 in Pennington Gap, VA.
In his younger years shortly after marriage, he moved to Bellevue, Kentucky where he would start a family.  There he owned and operated a Texco Service Station. Eventually, he moved back to his home roots of Eastern, Ky and went to work in the coal mines at the Blue Diamond Coal Company.  In his later years before his final retirement, he worked at the W.B. Muncy Elementary School at Wooton, KY as the sanitizing and custodial supervisor.  While working at W.B. Muncy, he enjoyed his work and looked forward to seeing the students everyday.  Students brought a smile to his face and would often surprise him with a gift or offer a kind word.
Howard was of the Baptist faith and was ordained as deacon at the Hyden Baptist Church, along side his brother in Christ and beloved friend, the late James Morgan.  Howard was a devout Christian and a dedicated member of the church.  He was faithful in his attendance and was always present to oversee projects to the end.  He sang faithfully in the choir and was most known for his two favorite songs to sing, "Wayfaring Stranger" and "Lily of the Valley".  He served faithfully as deacon until moving to London in 2015.
Howard found enjoyment in many things; in former years, he enjoyed fishing and squirrel hunting.  In the spring and summer months, you could find Howard doing yard work, gardening and raising chickens.  He had a love for the outdoors and took pride in keeping his home and yard well groomed.  His most recent hobbies including drawing and working word puzzles.  Above all, Howard cherished his family and especially his grandchildren and the time spent with them.  They were his pride and joy.
Howard departed this earthly walk of life on Friday, March 11, 2022 at the Baptist Health in Corbin, KY.  Howard was 90 years old.
In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by three brothers, John Henry, Carroll and Orville Sizemore, three sisters, Mildred Sizemore, Dorothy Howard and Maggie Palumbi.  One son in law, George R. Collins.
Howard leaves behind his loving & devoted wife of 66 years, Ernestine Sizemore of London, KY,  and to their union, three beloved children:  Son, RIck Sizemore (Stephanie) of Richardson, TX; two daughters, Stella Fields (Fred) of London, KY and Sheila Collins of Corbin, KY.  Other survivors include, one brother, Brown Sizemore (Mary) of Hyden, KY, two sisters, Betty Whitaker (Ike) of Corbin, KY and Barbara Baldridge of Morehead, KY; seven cherished grandchildren, Shane Sizemore (Sissy), Kimberly Buchanon (Justin), Ryan SIzemore (Whitney), Jared Fields (Kayla), Nick Fields (Brittany), Tyler Collins (Meghan),  and Dylan Sizemore (Nikki); thirteen treasured great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. - Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Wolfe officiating.
Interment will follow the services at the Baker Cemetery at Busy, KY with his grandsons, Ryan SIzemore, Shane Sizemore, Eli Sizemore, Caynan Sizemore, Jared Fields and Nick Fields serving as pallbearers.  His brother, Brown Sizemore will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at the chapel. **MASONIC RITES WILL BE HELD PRIOR TO FUNERAL SERVICE**

He was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Gene, Ed, Len, Kenneth, Darrell, and Rex.  Two sisters Dorothy Pace, and Gladys Bowling. and his loving wife Jean Stidham.  Survivors include one son, David Wayne Stidham and wife Sandra  of Hyden, Kentucky, one daughter Barbara Westerfield of Hyden, Kentucky.  Two grandchildren, Justin and Marlena Westerfield. A host of relatives and friends that morn his passing.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Wolfe and Sons Funeral with Doug Caldwell officiating.  Burial will follow in the Grassy Gap Cemetery, Hyden, Kentucky.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11;00 a.m Monday. till the funeral hour.

Evelyn "Miss Heide" Mae Heidebrecht - May 10, 1922 - March 06, 2022

Obituary Preview: Evelyn Mae Heidebrecht was born May 10, 1922, in Hydro, Montana.  She departed this walk of life on Sunday, March 06, 2022, in Manchester, Kentucky.  Evelyn was 99 years old.
Evelyn was the daughter of the late Daniel C. Heidebrecht and the late Katherine Janzen Heidebrecht.  She was the second child in a family of six, four of whom lived into their 90’s.  In 1939, the family moved from their farm in Chinook, Montana to Corn, Oklahoma, where she graduated from high school in 1940.  She worked as an assistant to Dr. Fred Schlinchting for several years.  From 1953 to 1955, Evelyn attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL.  There, she met Lorraine Kuhns, R.N. and the two of them came to serve the Cutshin Bible Mission.
Evelyn came to the Cutshin Bible Mission in 1955 and assisted the nurses in the clinic until its closure in 2017.  She was an excellent cook and hostess.
As a member of the Cutshin Bible Church, she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and conducted Daily Vacation Bible School.  Miss Heide visited the Leslie County Elementary Schools with Bible lessons for almost 50 years.  She was also active at Camp Nathaniel.  In former years, she represented Leslie County Ministerial Association, and completed any task asked of her.
Her dedication and genuine concern to the people of Leslie County and surrounding areas will forever be treasured.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother, Ervin, Sister, Erna and a niece, Linda Klepper.
Evelyn leaves behind, her brother, Robert Heidebrecht, two sisters, Norma Carolyn and Marilyn Beuchaw; three nephews, Daniel Heidebrecht & Suzanne Heinrichs, Brian & Sharon Beuchaw, Craig & Melody Beuchaw; nieces, Karen & Rob Gentry, Cecelia & Jim Hunter, Lorelei Rhoads & Katrina Holt.  Evelyn is also survived by her cherished friend and coworker of 57 years, Barbara French.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. – Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the Cutshin Bible Church with Tony Little officiating.
The interment will follow the services at the Cutshin Bible Church Cemetery at Yeaddiss, KY.
Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the church.

Mr. Curtis Melton, born on January 7, 1940 in Wooton, He is preceded in death by his father and mother Felix and Rebecca Melton, loving and devoted wife Irene Melton, beloved son Derek Melton. One sister Ethel Bray, one brother Monroe Melton and sister- n – law Laurie Melton. Curt passed away on March 3, 2022 at the ARH Mary Breckinridge Hospital at the age of 82. Curtis was a life long Truck Driver until he retired. He enjoyed his family more than life itself, and always made sure they all had what they needed and wanted. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren more than anything. He loved sitting and watching them run wild all over Meltonville and playing. Curtis enjoyed watching Nascar with Danielle every Sunday and watching cartoons with all his grandbabies. Enjoyed his nightly talks with his nephew Ricky. He was a very special man that was LOVED and RESPECTED by ALL HIS FAMILY and FRIENDS
Curt leaves the following relatives surviving, two Daughters Mildred Irene Spencer (William) and Donna Kaye Melton; three Granddaughters, Tiffany Kaye Kilburn (Eric), Amanda Irene Collett (Josh) and Danielle Rebecca Spencer; six Great Grandchildren Kyleigh MaKayren Napier, Sophia Irene Collett, Ben Riley Collett, Jayden Curtis Collett, Easton Daniel Kilburn and Milliana Kate Collett. One Brother Bennie Melton (Izena) of Wooton, Special Nephew Kenny Bray and Niece Regina Smith of Ohio and a host of Nieces and Nephews, Cousins, Family and Friends survive.
Funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Wooton Presbyterian Church with Greg Whitaker officiating and reading of the obituary by William Spencer. Interment will follow in the Meltonville Family Cemetery at Wooton, KY with the following serving as pallbearers: William Spencer, Eric Kilburn, Josh Collett, Dalton Brown Melton

Interment will follow in the Couch’s Cemetery at Thousandsticks, KY with Jeff Couch, Kenny Couch, Jerry Couch, Vernon Couch, Lawrence Woods, Johnny Browning and Scott Sutton serving as pallbearers.

Madden, born May 28, 1957 in Beverly, KY to the late Hubert and Phebie Brock Madden.  Willie had been a life-long resident of Leslie County and was residing at Wooton, KY.  By occupation he was employed by the Leslie County Fiscal Court for over 25 years.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed riding four wheelers with his friends.   He also enjoyed Nascar and University of Kentucky sports.  Above all, Willie enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Willie departed this life on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at his residence.  Willie was 64 years old.
In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his significant other, Barbara Davis, a brother, Hubert Lester Madden, Jr. and a stepdaughter, Missy Caldwell.
Willie leaves behind, one beloved daughter, Melinda Hoskins (Steven) of Stinnett, KY, beloved son, William H. Madden of Hyden, KY, stepdaughter, Betty Lewis of Tazwell, TN and stepson, Robert Davis of Tazwell, TN.  Other survivors include, two brothers, Arnold Madden (Peggy) of Columbus, IN and Buford Madden (Paula) of Scipio, IN, one sister, Loretta Amburgy.  His cherished grandchildren, Lynsey Paige Wilson, Kimber Lynn Hoskins, Aexi Hoskins, Madison Napier, Austin Caldwell, JJ Caldwell and Jaymastin Caldwell, special friend, Don Baker of Wooton, KY.

Obituary Preview: Margaret Griffie Lee, age 79, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022, in Hyden, Ky.
Margaret was known by all who loved her as “Doll”. She was born on July 3rd, 1942, to the late Birchel Griffie. She was retired from the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant, in Charlestown, Indiana. She was of Pentecostal Holiness faith.
As a beloved Mother and Grandmother, she spent her life devoted to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, gospel music, playing games on her computer, but most of all she loved family gatherings, cook outs and was a daddy’s girl.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her late husband Maurice Lee, her son Jack Sizemore, and Jack Sizemore, the father of her children. Brothers Don Griffie, Bud Griffie, and Dempsey Griffie. Sisters Ethel Griffie, Wilma Griffie Osborne, Edith Osborne and wonderful stepmother Pauline Griffie. Stepchildren Gary Lee and Phyllis Pace.
She is survived by her daughters Sue Dunn, Sarah King (Mandi), 3 grandchildren Shawn Watson, Brandie Dunn and Brittany Olinger (Lawrence). She was also blessed with 4 great grandchildren. Brothers Joe Griffie (Ruthie), Henry Griffie (Margaret), and Jack Griffie (Phyllis). Sisters Sinda Sandlin and Phyllis “Tik” Begley. Stepchildren Walter Lee and Cindy Verploeg and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Jerry McKinley Holland officiating. Burial will follow at the John North Cemetery in Hyden, Ky. Visitations will be held at the Wolfe & Sons funeral home on Friday, March 4th from 4:00pm until 9:00 pm and on Saturday, March 5th from 10:00 am until the time of service. Robert "Bob" Hoskins - June 12, 1933 - February 13, 2022

Obituary Preview: Mr. Robert “Bob” Hoskins (of London, KY, formerly of Hyden, KY) was born June 12, 1933, at Stinnett, Kentucky, a son of the late Dewey and Ona Morgan Hoskins.  He graduated from Stinnett Settlement School and went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree of History and Geography from Eastern KY University.  Robert was a United States Army Veteran and served honorably at Fort Knox during the Korean War.  Following his time served in the military, Robert came back to teach school.  He was an educator for the Leslie County Board of Education with  30 years of dedicated service to the school system.  Robert “Bob” owned and operated Hoskins T.V. and Repair (Radio Shack), along with his brother Gene for many years. There they repaired televisions, electronics and offered movie rentals.   As times changed, so did electronics and the knowledge & equipment to repair them.   Bob and Gene decided to close the store and retire.  After retirement, Bob spent his days doing what he loved most, fishing, reading and flower gardening.
Robert “Bob” Hoskins departed this life peacefully on Sunday, February 13, 2022, with his family by his side.  He was 88 years old.
In addition to his parents, Robert Bob Hoskins was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and David Hoskins, one sister, Daphne Hoskins, as well as two infant brothers and one infant sister.
Mr. Robert “Bob” Hoskins leaves behind his loving & devoted wife, Freda A. Hoskins of London, KY, to whom he wed on January 24, 1992; One Son, Dr. Robert C. Hoskins, Jr. (Victoria) of London, KY, one daughter, Deronda K. Hoskins Back (Ralph) of Jackson, KY, two stepsons, Chad Everett Morgan (Laura) and William “Kenny” McKinley Morgan (Patricia), both of London, KY.  Other survivors include, one beloved brother, Eugene “Gene” Paul Hoskins of Stinnett, KY, two grandchildren, Allen Ryan Hoskins and Natasha Renee Hoskins and four step-grandchildren, Courtney Morgan, Karley Morgan, Kenley Fern Morgan and Kahlan Morgan.  A host of friends, former coworkers, employees and relatives also survive.
Funeral service for Mr. Robert “Bob” Hoskins will be held at 1p.m. – Wednesday, February 16, 2022 in the chapel of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Wolfe officiating.
Interment will follow the services at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Southeast – Hyden, KY. with full military honors performed by Leslie County D.A.V. Chapter # 133.

Obituary Preview: Earl Homer Collett (of Stinnett, KY) was born on July 16, 1928, in Leslie County, Kentucky to the union of the late Elmer and Delora Mosley Collett.  Earl attended the Lees Junior College after high school, where he obtained an associates degree in teaching.  He taught school at the old Rydner Branch Schoolhouse.  He later worked as a grocery delivery person for London Dry Goods and a salesman for H&H Wholesale.  Before establishing his own business, Earl worked for the East Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program where he worked for nearly 12 years.  In 1974 he opened the Hill Top Market at Stinnett (Collett’s Farm & Feed); he operated Hill Top Market for more than 35 years before retiring.  Earl was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Bowens Creek United Baptist Church at Essie, KY.  He enjoyed fishing and in his younger years he enjoyed squirrel hunting.  Earl had a kind and giving heart, always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved everyone, especially children, and everyone loved him.  Even though Earl worked tirelessly to provide for his family, he always made sure he spent quality time with them.  He was a loving father, grandfather, husband, brother and friend to many.
Earl departed this walk of life on Monday, February 07, 2022 at the Mary Breckinridge A.R.H.  Earl was 93 years old.
In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by two brothers, Freddie Joe and Kenneth Collett and three sisters, Susie Holland, Pauline Collett and Edith Collett.
Earl leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary Gamble Collett to whom he wed on June 09, 2007; three sons:  David Collett (Shandra) of Corbin, KY, Jimmy Caudill of Stinnett, KY and Jesse Lee Wooton of Frankfort, KY; three brothers, John Collett (Carolyn) of London, KY, Marcus Collett (Emily) of Roark, KY, and Doyle Collett of Indiana; four sisters, Fern Maxwell of TN, Joyce Hunley (Eugene) of Essie, KY, Geraldine Collett (Mason) of Essie, KY and Rosetta Sizemore (Steve) of Barbourville, KY; nine cherished grandchildren, Charles David Collett, Jr., Jaxxon Raylan Reed Collett, Kailey Harris, Brooklyn Harris, Hope Caudill, Adam Caudill, Doralee Coomer, Austin Brewer, Phillip Caudill, Charles Caudill and Jessica Wooton White;  fourteen cherished great grandchildren, his pet companion and protector, Buddy.  Earl also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. – Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Bowens Creek United Baptist Church with Taylor Adams & Carl Brown officiating.

Obituary Preview: Melissa Lois Hall was born February 12, 1969 in Beverly, KY, to the union of Betty Sizemore Gray and the late Jordan Gray.  Melissa was united in Marriage to Robert Hall on October 28, 1988 at Mozelle, Kentucky.  She was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Layton Hill Pentecostal Church.  Melissa was a homemaker and was a former schoolteacher at Red Bird, where she worked with early childhood development.  Melissa was a devout Christian, she loved the Lord and used her talents of singing and playing piano, for Him.  She was a devoted mother and cherished the time spent with her mother, children and grandchildren.  They were her world.
Melissa departed this life peacefully on Friday, February 04, 2022 at her home.  Melissa was 52 years old.
In addition to her father, Melissa was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ezekiel & Mae Gray, her maternal grandparents, Felix & Mallie Sizemore, two aunts, Vivian Gray and Ruby Collett and one uncle, Bernard Sizemore.

Joseph was born March 16, 1939 in Leslie County, a daughter of the late Wilson and Recey Pennington Baker.  Mary had been a life-long resident of Leslie County and was residing at Wooton, Kentucky.  She was of the Church of Christ faith and was a dedicated member of the Smilax Church of Christ.  Mary was united in marriage to Elvin Joseph on August 24, 1956 at Cinda, Kentucky.  And to this union, they brought forth two beloved children, Elvin and Recia.  Mary was a beloved homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  Mary devoted her life to the care and raising of her family.  She cared for them with a genuine love and concern.  Every spring, Mary would grow beautiful flowers and every summer she helped her husband, Elvin in the garden.  Above all, she enjoyed sitting on her porch watching hummingbirds.
Mary departed this walk of life on February 02, 2022 at the Mary Breckinridge A.R.H. Hospital in Hyden, KY.  Mary was 82 years old.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded death by three brothers, Pearl, Harvey and Dennis Baker.

Lillie Mae leaves behind one beloved son, Gerald Asher of East Bernstadt, Ky, three grandchildren, Patrick Haddix, Abbigail Asher and Braxton Brunner as well as one great-grandchild, Logan Haddix.  Lillie leaves behind a multitude of friends and other relatives.

Obituary Preview: George “Punkin” Woods, 81, departed this life peacefully on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the Landmark of Laurel Creek in Manchester, KY.  He was born October 12, 1940, at Saul, Kentucky, a son of the late Rev. John Woods and the late America Carmack Woods.
George was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church, Saul, KY.  He was united in marriage to Betty Jean Estep on March 19, 1960, in Saul, KY.  George was a very social person, he enjoyed talking with people and spending time with his family.  After surrendering his life to the Lord, George took great pride in church and helping maintain it.  He was always available to make sure the church was open and ready for service.  Before service began, you could always find George acting as the doorkeeper. His hobbies included riding a four-wheeler, collecting and being a family man.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
In addition to his beloved parents, George was preceded in death by his loving & devoted wife of 58 years, Betty Woods, a beloved daughter, Rita Faye Woods, three brothers, Felix, Chester and Dan Woods, and two sisters, Violet Ross and Helen Rice.
George leaves behind four beloved children, son, Kerry Woods (Glenna) of Saul, KY, three daughters, Sandra Lovins of Oneida, KY, Betty Harvey (Ronnie) of Clay Hole, KY and Lois J. Abner (George) of Saul, KY.  Other survivors include, five sisters, Martha Gay of London, KY, Cassie Mills of Saul, KY, Emma Gay of Buckhorn, KY, Rachel Gay of Oneida, KY and Lavina Barger of Manchester, KY; nine cherished grandchildren, Timothy Woods (Jennifer), Joshua Couch (Jean), Jessica Caudill (Jerry), Georgina Collins (Claude), Jeremy Abner (Sheryl), Tonya Gipson, Kelsey Couch, Lindsey Abner and Ronnie Ray Harvey (Fern); nineteen cherished great-grandchildren and special pet companions, Macy and Trixie.
Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. – Saturday, January 22, 2022 in the chapel of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with his son-in-law, George Abner officiating, eulogy by granddaughter, Jessica Caudill and reading of the obituary by his grandson, Jeremy Abner.
Interment will follow in the Couch Town Government Cemetery at Saul, KY with Josh Couch, Timothy Wood, Jeremy Abner, Ronnie Ray Harvey, Ronnie Harvey and Jerry Caudill serving as pallbearers.
The Woods family will receive friends for visitation from 11a.m. – 1p.m., Saturday at the funeral home chapel. **The family respectfully request to all in attendance, please practice all safety precautions by wearing a mask and practice social distancing**
