Michael Imperato - May 01, 1996 - May 15, 2024

Departed: 05/15/2024 (Winter Garden)
Obituary Preview: Our son, Michael Imperato, a loving brother, nephew, cousin and uncle has gone to be with the Lord.
Uncle Michael, a role he embraced and cherished, celebrated his 28th birthday May 1 before departing to fly with the angels May 15.
A limb from our family tree has fallen; but we are confident Michael has found peace. Michael had a special relationship with the lord since a young age. He used to see angels all the time and we take great comfort in knowing he is resting safe and warm in their embrace now. Michael was full of life; he loved anything to do with water: fishing, surfing, jet skiing, boating ... but his favorite was building salt water fish tanks. Michael was the 'fun-cle' -- he did all the fun things with his nieces and nephew which will provide us a lifetime of smiles in remembrance. Michael's love for his mom -- and her's in return -- transcends all worldly planes which neither time nor space can dim. His light will be greatly missed by all.
Michael is survived by his mother, who he was a true extension of, Terri Imperato; his father, Frank Imperato; his sister (who was his favorite person), Kimberly Donley, and husband Charles Donley; nephew, Louie DiFazio; nieces, Carmella DiFazio and Aurora Donley; stepfather, Kevin Bergman, who never stopped trying to help Michael. He is also loved and missed by aunts, Denise Johnson and Jodi Abdy, who were his biggest cheerleaders; uncles David Abdy and Ray Dawkins, who were constant positive influences in his life. Also mourning our loss are Michael's cousins, who were more like siblings: Ashley, and husband Paul Kelly; Brandon and Alex Abdy; Ethan Johnson; Caylin, Kira, Raymond and Samual Dawkins. Godmothers Judy Graff and Annette Urso, both of whom loved Michael generously and endlessly, will continue to carry his light. His stepbrother, Michael Bergman, and a community of friends and supporters who adored him — both known and unknown to us — complete the circle of love surrounding our dear Michael.

Jose Isabel Arrona Hernandez - July 09, 1961 - May 13, 2024

Departed: 05/13/2024 (Winter Garden)
Jose Isabel Arrona Hernandez, known fondly by his loved ones as "Chabelo," passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his Winter Garden, Florida, home on May 13, 2024, at the age of 62. Jose is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and loyal friend.
Jose was born on a small ranch near Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Roberto Arrona and Delfina Hernandez on July 9, 1961. Jose was a loving husband for 35 years to Blanca Araceli Arrona. He was a proud father to his three children, Jose Isabel Arrona, David Eduardo Arrona, and Yesenia Araceli Perez Lopez, and a beloved father-in-law to their spouses, Elizabeth Audrey Arrona, Francis "Nani" Colon, and Salvador Perez Lopez. He was a devoted grandfather to his grandchildren, David Alexander Arrona and Sophia Aleah Arrona. Jose was a caring brother to his seven siblings, Felipe Arrona, Julio Arrona, Felix Arrona, Hilaria Arrona, Juan Hernandez, Juana Hernandez, and Roberto Arrona, and a cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews.
Jose came from humble beginnings and enjoyed living a simple life. He was known to all for his strong work ethic, which was instilled in him by his father at an early age. He found fulfillment in his work and was dedicated to providing for his family. After immigrating to the United States, he worked tirelessly to establish himself and form his family. He gave his family a better life and provided them the education he never received. He instilled in them the values of respect, hard work, perseverance, humility, and the importance of being a close family.
Jose's love for sports was evident from his youth when he found joy in playing baseball. He was a dedicated soccer fan, always cheering for his country's national team and Club Leon. Music was also a lifelong passion for Jose. He enjoyed listening to Mexican Ranchera music, playing the güiro, and learning the guitar and bass. But above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren. Jose's legacy is not just in the memories he helped create but in the profound impact he left on those he met throughout his life. He will be forever remembered and loved.
The family will honor Jose's life with a viewing from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Winter Oak Funeral Home (1132 East Plant Street, Winter Garden, Florida). Mass Service will be held at Resurrection Catholic Church (1211 Winter Garden Vineland Road, Winter Garden, Florida) at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024, with a burial immediately following at Winter Garden Cemetery (13636 Lake Butler Boulevard, Winter Garden, Florida). In place of flowers, the family kindly asks you to consider donating to a charity of your choice in Jose's memory or contributing to his memorial fund.

Terry O'Keefe - October 02, 1938 - May 11, 2024

Departed: 05/11/2024 (Winter Garden)
Obituary Preview: Terrence Paul O’Keefe of Ocoee, Florida passed away peacefully on May 11th , 2024 at 85. Terry was born and raised in Lorain, Ohio, and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in 1957. After working at Ford Motor Company as an Inspector, Terry retired after 30 years of dedication and hard work.
As a younger guy, Terry was very active in sports and enjoyed playing and coaching baseball and basketball. Because of his love for the game, Terry was also a basketball referee in his spare time.
In 1960, Terry married Mary Stevens (Lorain, Ohio) and they were married for nearly 50 years. When Mary developed Alzheimer's Disease in her late 50’s, Terry took care of her and spent every day devoted to his wife. In 2000, Terry made the difficult decision to move himself and his wife to Florida where Mary would receive wonderful assisted living care for her disease progression. While Mary was in assisted living, Terry visited her multiple times a day until she sadly passed in 2009.
Terry was a true entertainer with high energy and charisma. He had an amazing way of entertaining people with singing, dancing, and joking. Even at the age of 85, Terry would draw crowds with his signature “boogie” moves and you could even find him shooting basketballs with precision. Terry had a true love for life and radiated joy to everyone around him. Terry, also known as Poppy, was the best grandfather in the world and loved to entertain his grandkids. Poppy O’Keefe loved his family dearly and his memory will forever be cherished by his grandchildren.
Terry truly has never met a stranger. No matter who he encountered, Terry always had an amazing way of entertaining a crowd and you could not help but to smile when you were in his presence. No matter where he was or who he was with, Terry would always be telling jokes, singing, and dancing to the beat of his own drum. People of all ages and backgrounds were drawn to him, he could make anyone laugh or get up and dance with him including children, young adults, the elderly, and even his healthcare team. Terry had a God given gift to bring endless joy to everyone around him and lift people’s spirits through laughter.
Terry is survived by his 5 children: Terry (Laura) O’Keefe, Janet O’Keefe, Kim (Kurt) Gilbertson, Mary Kay Kirk, and Tom O’Keefe. Poppy O’Keefe is survived by his 7 grandchildren: Larry Kirk, April Beal, Patrick O’Keefe, Kennedy O’Keefe, Lindsey O’Keefe, Johnny Sousa, and Elizabeth Sousa. He is also survived by his 5 great grandchildren: Tripp Kirk, Helena Kirk, Susie Kirk, Glory Kirk, and Emma Beal. Terry was preceded in death by his parents Edward David O’Keefe and Mary Catherine Berkenbaugh; 3 brothers Danny O’Keefe, Eddie O’Keefe and Jerry O’Keefe; and 2 sisters Mary Ellen Lindway and Patty Ruehlman. Sadly, Terry is also preceded in death by two of his grandsons. In 1996, Sean O’Keefe, Patrick O’Keefe’s twin, devastatingly was stillborn. In 2021, Terry also unexpectedly lost Jimmy Kirk, his 33-year-old fun-loving grandson whom Terry adored and loved very much!
Terry’s passing is devastating to the family and he will be missed wholeheartedly. His memory, constant laughter, and fun-loving self will be cherished by the family and everyone he has crossed paths with until the end of time. Although the news of his passing is very sad for the family, we are so thankful he is enjoying heaven with Jesus and his family. Terry’s memory will continue to live on through stories, home videos, and many photos that will bring his family tremendous joy during this difficult season of loss.

Sgt. Jim Carter - May 01, 1959 - April 21, 2024

Departed: 04/21/2024 (Winter Garden)
Obituary Preview: James “Jim” Carter died peacefully in his man cave in his home with his wife at his side on April 21, 2024, exactly 13 years after his initial diagnosis with a malignant brain tumor. He was predeceased by his parents Mitch and Pat Carter, and nephew Matthew Stone. He is survived by his wife Brenda, brother Frank (wife Lori), son Matthew, step sons Joel (wife Bruna), Eddie (wife Olya), nephew Michael (wife Jackie), niece Mandy (husband James). Also surviving him are several grandchildren (who are going to miss bringing their Paw-Paw his soda and snacks), as well as a close extended family who admired and respected him and his authenticity. He will live on in the memories of his many friends and his law enforcement brothers and sisters, many of whom have expressed their appreciation for the tremendous impact he had on their lives.
Jim was born in Kentucky and his family moved to Florida when he was a toddler. He was raised in central Florida and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp when he was 17 years old. He served for 8 1⁄2 years and was stationed on bases throughout the world as an embassy guard in the capacity of Assaultman. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and received several awards including Rifle Expert and Pistol Sharpshooter, Good Conduct Medal, and Letter of Commendation. The Corp ran deep in Jim’s blood, shaping his fearlessness, leadership style, and the rationale for his success as a supervisor later in life.
Post Marine Corps service Jim followed in his father’s footsteps and pursued a lengthy career in law enforcement. He served with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for 3 1⁄2 years as a deputy and a member of the Dive Team. His dedication to his community continued serving in law enforcement for many years with the Winter Garden Police Department until his retirement.
During his tenure at Winter Garden he achieved the rank of Sergeant. Jim served on the police mountain bike unit, was a firearm’s instructor, traffic homicide investigator and field training officer. He established the agency’s first motor unit, which continues to thrive today. He was also a member, and credited with assisting in the establishment of the agency’s initial Honor Guard team. Jim was a Master Mason and also served on the FEMA Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team and assisted with the natural disaster relief efforts caused by Hurricane Katrina.
During his career, Jim was known as an abrasive, no-nonsense supervisor and co-worker. His fellow supervisors jokingly referred to him as “Gunny” because of his direct approach. He spoke truth, regardless of who stood before him or how much it offended them. When deserved, the men serving with him would receive a typical old-fashioned Marine Corp butt-chewing and afterwards he was your best friend and buying your next meal. Those who worked for him never wanted to work for anyone else. He mentored everyone he could into the best people and officers they could be, and encouraged them to continue their education; he led by example and attained his Bachelor’s degree.
Jim was an avid reader and in his personal life, of most importance were his family, friends, good food and booze. Although his humor and sarcasm were a part of him, his positive attitude cast a light on dark circumstances, and even when he was battling his cancer he remained optimistic and gave comfort to those around him.
He was not demonstrative in expressions of affection but his love for his wife and granddaughter Aliviya were evident in the warm, healing and comforting hugs he gave. Jim’s eternal dirt nap with military honors will commence on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 1300 in the
Cape Canaveral National Cemetery located at 5525 US Hwy 1N in Mims, FL.
Jim's arrangements are in the caring guidance of Winter Oak Funeral Home & Cremations in Winter Garden, FL.

Connie Lea Hart - October 22, 1950 - April 12, 2024

Departed: 04/12/2024 (Winter Garden)
Obituary Preview: Connie Lea Hart passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2024, in Orlando, Florida. Connie was born in Fort Worth, Texas on October 22, 1950. She was the youngest of 4 girls. Born with natural red hair, her daddy often said that they had to stop having kids once they started coming out “red”. They say that redheads are very rare, less than 2% of the world’s population. Rarity for Connie is an understatement. There is and never will be another like her.
Connie grew up in the Tri Cities, WA, but spent most of her adult life in the Pacific Northwest, north of Seattle, WA. Connie also spent many years off and on living in Southwest and Central Florida. In her final years, Connie loved living in her home in Central Florida on a beautiful lake, enjoying the warm weather.
In her lifetime, Connie wore many hats and worked in various entities in the mortgage and real estate industry. She continued with this work all the way to her passing. She was smart as a whip and thrived working in all her various business projects. In addition to her work, Connie’s main passion in life was her children and grandchildren. Anyone who knew Connie heard her talk about her kids and grandkids. She was very proud of her “legacy” as she would often say.
Those that knew Connie also knew she was a superb chef and baker. There wasn’t anything that Connie couldn’t make. Her most comfortable place was always in the kitchen, making some extraordinary dish for people to enjoy. She prided herself on coming up with new recipes and enjoyed sharing her knowledge and love of cooking and baking with others, especially her grandkids. Her youngest grandson Logan told Connie at a young age that he wanted to make a “grandma robot” so that all of her ‘yummy recipes’ could be shared with the world. Connie loved that idea.
Connie was also an animal lover, especially cats, squirrels, cardinals, and flamingos. She immensely loved watching and feeding squirrels peanuts. All the grandkids have special memories of feeding the squirrels with grandma. Connie was also a “cat grandma” and many would joke with her that she was the “cat lady” although she would tell you that none of the cats belonged to her, but the cats didn’t know that.
Everything that Connie did in her life, she shared with others. Everyone who knows Connie will tell you that she was the most kind and helpful person, and a friend you could always count on. She was “Mom” and “Grandma Connie” to multiple people. She will be missed immensely.
Connie has now joined her parents, Cecil and Opal Dodd, and older sisters, “Mick” Carmichael and “Pat” Smith, all of whom preceded her in death. Connie is survived by her older sister “Barb” Carmichael, two children, Nick Hart, of Orlando, FL, and Lea Overturf and husband (Greg) of East Helena, MT. Four grandchildren: Lucy Hart of Seattle, WA, Jack Hart of Orlando, FL, Logan Coles and Sydney Coles of East Helena, MT, and two step-grandchildren Janyssa Ellis (Marcus Holland) of Butte, MT, and Mikal Overturf (Nate Shea) of Billings, MT. Connie is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. Connie had dear friends in her life that meant a great deal to her, including her longtime partner and friend (GB). She will truly be missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Connie did not wish to have any memorial service in her honor. The family asks that in lieu of flowers and memorial gifts, donations can be made to:  https://spaythestrays.rescuegroups.org/info/donate - this is a cat rescue facility that Connie supported in life. "While the rest of the species is descended from apes, redheads are descended from cats."  Mark Twain Connie's funeral arrangements are in the caring guidance of Winter Oak Funeral Home & Cremation,
1132 E. Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787.

Sheryl Phillips Wilson - November 21, 1964 - April 10, 2024

Departed: 04/10/2024 (Winter Garden)
Obituary Preview: Sheryl Phillips Wilson, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a aunt, and a niece. Passed away on April 10 th , 2024, at the age of 59. She was born on November 21st, 1964, in Americus, Ga. She lived her life between South GA and Orlando Fl. Area. She had been married to Terry Wilson since 9/23/2000, for over 23 years. She and Terry met in Cordele Ga., and she ended up convincing him to follow her to Florida and she became his everything, and he hers. She loved to say, “Hey Siri, call Hubby” and when Siri said “Hubby Calling”, everything else stopped in her world as nothing else mattered to her as much as “Hubby Calling”. There was a love and connection between
them that may be only a wish for other couples. Each admired and worshipped the other during the time they were together. Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents Betty Jean Woodall Phillips in 1990 and Elder John David Phillips in 2023. She is survived by her siblings: Carol House of Cordele Ga. Ricky Phillips (Donna) of Decatur Al., Michelle Levin of Orlando, Fl, Jerry Phillips (Sherree) of Arabi Ga., and Vicky Aspinwall of Orlando, Fl. Her nieces and Nephews: Kenny House, Patricia House, Brenda Browning, Matt Levin, Jonathan Levin, Lisa Levin, Aimee McKinney, Jennifer Guest, Jonny Mac Phillips, and Peyton Phillips. Sheryl was an amazing woman and an amazing sister. Although she and Terry did not have children of their own, she was a mother figure to us all and this was even more evident after the death of our mom in 1992. Her love for family and friends was abundant as shown by her expressions toward he family and friends. This extended to
her nephews and her great nephews as they came along. She helped with Waylen when he was born to Kenny and Tifton due to their work schedules and has served as a Mother Figure to Jonny Mac as she helped with him. She has been so excited to be a part of Great Nephew Maddox in recent years and was so excited to be a part of his future sibling. Anyone that has talked to Sheryl on phone or in person, has heard some of her signature lines with one of the most common ones being “Know what I’m saying” whether you did or not. You may have heard it multiple times in that conversation. She had her own sense of fashion, and it was not uncommon to see her in her sequined hats, gold, silver, rainbow, etc. Usually with people asking her where she got those awesome hats/caps. Sheryl was the one that kept us all updated with our family gatherings. She was the one always getting us together for a picture and usually multiple pictures before we went our separate ways no matter where we were; restaurant, hospital, one of our homes, or church no matter the reason. We are all so thankful for this now. Maybe she knew a little more than we did. Her love of God was influenced by our father, and she loved videotaping him when he preached, and she was with him. She loved watching those recordings often and especially when she was in hospital due to periodic ailments. Her love of the Church was such an important part of her life that continued to bring her closer to her faith and God. She became involved with her current Church around 10 years ago when she met Pastor Daniel and his family. She told us all about him and the church whenever we were together. She would listen to services and recordings when she could not attend and was there whenever she could attend. This has been and is such an important part
of her life.
She is now free of the pain and ailments she experienced during her life. We know she is now with our Parents and Grandparents in Heaven in the presence of our Lord and Savior.
Thank you, Lord for letting us be the beneficiaries of her 59 short years. We will miss her tremendously. Sheryl's funeral arrangements are in the caring guidance of Winter Oak Funeral Home & Cremation,
1132 E. Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787.
