Cody Clegg - Unknown - March 15, 2022

Departed: 03/15/2022 (Houston)
Obituary Preview: Cody Glenn Clegg July 21, 1987 – March 10, 2022
Cody G. Clegg (34) was born July 21, 1987, to G. Clegg and Charlotte Reese of Bay City Tx. As Cody was growing up, he was always so full of life and laughter, had lots of energy, and enjoyed taking things apart to see how things worked. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, liked hunting and fishing, and really loved the beach. Being in the outdoors really relaxed him. Cody was such a kindhearted and fun-loving soul. He was very playful and enjoyed making people laugh. His laugh alone was so infectious that you couldn’t help but laugh with him. He was a loving dad, son, and brother. He was very proud of his two daughters, and you could see it all over his face at the mere mention of their names. Cody loved with his whole heart and nothing less. Cody graduated in 2006 from Van Vleck High School and went on to become a diesel mechanic. However, there really weren’t too many things that Cody couldn’t work on with or without an engine. He was often tinkering with things and strived on the feeling of accomplishment when he was able to figure something out and repair things. Cody tragically lost his life March 10, 2022. He is survived by his mother, Charlotte Reese; Dad, James Sutton; and Father, G. Clegg (Robin); Daughters, Kadence and Alyvia; Brothers, Corey Reese, Colton Clegg and Brother-in-law, Cody Downs; Sisters, Karissa Downs and Sarah Falks; a handful of nephews and nieces; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends whom all love him and will miss him dearly. He was proceeded in death by his Grandparents, Tony and Dorothy Reese and Roy and Florence Clegg. Upon Cody’s passing, he was able to give the gift of life in the form of organ donation. Not only is Cody a hero to his family and friends, but he is also a hero to the many people his gift has touched. Organ donation was Cody’s final gift, his final deed. The family will be planning a memorial in the coming weeks for all to come together and show their love and share memories. Please continue to pray for Cody Glenn’s loved ones through this tragic time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It may also include information about their family, accomplishments, and funeral or memorial services.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to inform friends, family, and community members of a person's passing, allowing them to pay their respects and offer condolences. They also provide a permanent record of a person's life and legacy.

Who typically writes an obituary?

In most cases, the obituary is written by the family of the deceased, often with the assistance of a funeral home or newspaper staff. In some cases, a close friend or colleague may also write an obituary.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service, hobbies, and surviving family members. It may also include information about funeral or memorial services.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication and the family's wishes. Typically, an obituary ranges from 100 to 500 words.

Can I include photos or other multimedia in an obituary?

Yes, many online obituary platforms and newspapers allow you to include photos, videos, or other multimedia elements to enhance the tribute to your loved one.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department directly to inquire about their submission process and any specific requirements they may have. You can usually find this information on their website or by calling their office.

Can I write my own obituary?

Yes, it is becoming increasingly common for people to write their own obituaries before they pass away. This can be a therapeutic exercise and ensure that your life story is told in your own words.

What is the difference between an obituary and a death notice?

A death notice is a brief announcement of a person's passing, usually including only basic information such as name, age, and date of death. An obituary provides more detailed information about the person's life and legacy.

Can I include humor or personality in an obituary?

Absolutely! An obituary should reflect the personality and spirit of the person who has passed away. Including humorous anecdotes or personal traits can make the tribute more engaging and meaningful.

How much does it cost to publish an obituary?

The cost of publishing an obituary varies depending on the newspaper or online platform. Some publications may charge by the word or line, while others may offer package deals or free listings.

Can I edit or update an obituary after it's been published?

In most cases, it is possible to make corrections or updates to an obituary after it has been published. Contact the publication or online platform directly to request changes.

What if I want to keep the obituary private?

If you prefer not to publicly announce the passing of your loved one, you can opt for a private obituary or create a memorial page on a password-protected website.

How long does it take for an obituary to be published?

The publication timeline varies depending on the newspaper or online platform. Online obituaries are often published immediately, while print newspapers may take several days or weeks to publish.

Can I include charitable donations or memorial gifts in an obituary?

Yes! Many families choose to include information about charitable donations or memorial gifts in lieu of flowers in their loved one's obituary.

What if I'm unsure about what to write in an obituary?

If you're struggling to write an obituary, consider consulting with a funeral home director, grief counselor, or close friend or family member for guidance and support.

Can I republish an obituary at a later date?

Are there any specific guidelines for writing an obituary for a child or young adult?

Yes. When writing an obituary for a child or young adult, it's essential to be sensitive to the emotional needs of their loved ones. Focus on celebrating their life and achievements rather than dwelling on their passing.

Can I include quotes or lyrics in an obituary?

Absolutely! Including meaningful quotes, lyrics, or poems can add depth and personality to an obituary.

How do I handle inaccuracies or errors in an already-published obituary?

Contact the publication or online platform directly to report any inaccuracies or errors. They will work with you to correct the mistakes as quickly as possible.

Yes! Sharing an obituary on social media can help spread the news quickly and reach a wider audience. Many online obituary platforms also offer social sharing options.

How do I ensure that my loved one's legacy lives on after they're gone?

Create opportunities for storytelling and remembrance by sharing memories and anecdotes with family and friends. Consider establishing a scholarship fund, planting a tree, or making charitable donations in their name.
