Emma Louise Buggs - December 17, 1948 - March 24, 2022

Obituary Preview: Emma was the third seed to blossom from the late Freddie Buggs, Sr. and Allie Mae Shuler Buggs on December 17, 1948 in Miller County, Georgia.
In the early fifties she attended school at Lela under Mrs. Sally Graham and also attended church there under Pastor Lee. Later she attended Seminole County Training School and graduated with the Class of 1967. She continued her higher education at Macon Business College in Macon, Georgia. She retired from Food Giant of Atlanta, Georgia, continuing her career with Gayfer’s Department Store now Dillard, Inc. until she retired in 2001 from the Dothan, Alabama branch. At an early age, Emma came to Christ and served Him faithfully under Pastor Major Powell at Newberry A.M.E. church in Jakin, Georgia. She served on the Usher Board. After moving to Atlanta, Georgia, she served God at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Once moving back south to Dothan, Alabama, she joined St. Mathis Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor R. C. Dawsey. Before her health failed, she served on the Usher Board and Missionary Society at St. Mathis Baptist Church. Also, she was the Chief Usher for the Southeast Alabama Usher Union, until her mother’s health fail, then she became the Chairman Usher for the St. Mary District. She had a special love for her family and elderly people.
On Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia the Lord quietly whispered “Your work here on earth is done”.  She was preceded in death by her Grandparents: Zollie and Emma Buggs; Gastor and Mary Shuler; Companion of many years, Jay B. Kirkland; Brother: Herman Buggs, Sr.; Sister: Betty Jean Sol; Sisters-in-law: Georgia Buggs and Cynthia Buggs.
Emma leaves to cherish his precious memories: three brothers, Freddie (Virginia) Buggs, Jr., Billy Joe Buggs, Sr., Zollie Buggs; two nephews she accepted as her own, Bobby (Patricia) Buggs, Sr. and Joseph (Temeka) Buggs, Sr.; her gal (niece), Fannie Barber; two aunts, Geraldine Smith and Odessa Johnson; one brother-in-law, Johnny Lee Sol; two special friends, Bobbie S. Young and Marene Smith; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Andrew Washington - August 05, 1922 - December 04, 2021

Obituary Preview: Andrew Washington was born on August 5, 1922, to the late Quill Washington, Sr. and Essie (Cook) Washington in Miller County, Georgia.  He was the youngest child of Quill and Essie Washington's 11 children, He confessed Christ at an early age and joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Miller County (Colquitt), GA.
He was united in Holy Matrimony in 1945 to Lossie Mae Lippett, to this union a son was born, Andrew Washington, Jr.  Mr. Washington made his home in Cleveland, OH where he worked as a Factory Shop Steward.  Around the late 1970’s, he returned to his hometown to live with his brother Quill in Midway, FL, then with his sister Mazuria in Fowlstown, GA; later making his home in Colquitt, GA.  When his health began to fail, his niece, Wajihah Hamidullah (Luevern Bush), relocated him to Fort Lauderdale, FL where she became his caregiver.   A few weeks ago, he questioned: How long was he going to be like this? Her answer was “Until the Good Lord call you home.”  On Saturday morning of December 4, 2012, the Lord called him home, and we know that he is no longer in pain.  He is preceded in death by his parents Quill Washington, Sr. and Essie (Cook) Washington; his wife Lossie Mae Washington; a son, Andrew Washington, Jr.; two sisters, Paralee Walker and Mazuria Bush, eight brothers, Arnett Washington, Ezembel Washington, Henry Washington, Joshua Washington, Quill Washington, Walter Washington, Wilson Washington and Woodrow Washington. Stepmother Fanny Wilder Washington, stepbrother Arthur Washington as well as a stepsister, Daisy Benton McFarland.
He leaves to cherish his memories. a devoted niece/caregiver determined that he would not live his final years in a nursing home, Wajihah Hamidullah, Fort Lauderdale, FL; stepsister: Elizabeth Chambers Southfield, MI; stepbrothers Marcus and Robert Washington both of Quincy, FL along with a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives.

Obituary Preview: Abraham Fountain was born on February 7, 1950 in Colquitt, Georgia to Lonie Fountain, Sr. and Susie Madax Fountain.  He was born and raised in a Christian loving home.
He attended Bethel High School.  After graduating high school, he worked as a pulpwood truck driver.  Later, Abraham moved to Miami, FL where he became a heavy equipment operator for 33 years.  He returned to Colquitt, GA and stayed from 2009 until 2018.  From there, he moved to Orlando, FL and lived with his son until his health failed.
Abraham departed this life on Monday, October 18, 2021.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonie Fountain, Sr. and Susie Madax Fountain; sister, Carie M. Lenza; brothers, Lonie Fountain, Jr., Willie J. Fountain, and Charlie Fountain; aunts, Louise Grant and Sadie Gray.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughters, Peggy S. (Isaac Page) Fountain and Shanika Warren; two sons, Alfred (Lunji) Fountain and Byron Ware; two sisters, Dorothy Moten and Tammy Smart both of Bainbridge, GA; three brothers, Leon Fountain of Texas; William Fountain of Georgia and Larry Fountain, Bainbridge, GA; 19 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Alvin Jackson - May 06, 1961 - September 10, 2021

Obituary Preview: Alvin Jackson was born on May 6, 1961 to the late James Jackson and Annie Elizabeth Douglas Jackson in Colquitt, Georgia. Al was one of 14 children.
At an early age, Alvin dedicated his life to Christ and joined Tabernacle Freewill Baptist Church. Alvin attended Bethel Elementary School and Miller County High School. After school, Alvin went into farming full time. In 1999, he made the decision to leave the farming life and move to Lawrenceville, Georgia. With this move, he worked a series of jobs in the warehousing industry.
Alvin Jackson was united in holy matrimony to Amanda Roseborough in Colquitt, GA. From this union, they were blessed with two beautiful daughters.
Alvin (aka Al or Big Al) had a love for traditional gospel music. He also had a heart that was even bigger than he was. He would always tell his family “I love you”. After a courageous battle with lung cancer, Al made a peaceful transition to be with the Lord.
On Friday, September 10, 2021, Alvin went home to be with the Lord.  He is preceded in death by his parents, James Jackson and Annie Elizabeth Douglas Jackson and seven siblings.
He leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters, Alvinique Jackson and Chasma Jackson; Whigham, GA; one step-daughter Amanda Shuler, Colquitt, GA; Five grandchildren; six sisters, Rosa Bellamy, Linden NJ; Carrie L Clark, Lawrenceville GA; Ellarene Moore, Iselin, NJ; Helen J. Obituary Preview: Vera Alice Pugh was born on May 24, 1925 in Miller County, Georgia to the late Edner Kirby Pugh and Willie Mae
Williams Pugh Hayes.
In 1941, she met and married Charlie Oliver Bush, Sr. They were blessed with three girls and five boys.  Through the guidance of God and her parents, she accepted the hand of Christ and was baptized at an early age.  She was known to her friends and family as “Chick Bush.”  Vera attended Miller County School for early education.  She received her high school GED from Thomas Area Technical School in Thomasville, GA.
She worked as a housewife during her early years of marriage.  Later, she was employed with the Miller County Nursing Home in Colquitt, GA and also worked at the Bainbridge State Mental Hospital.
Vera peacefully departed this life in the comfort of her home in Colquitt, GA surrounded by loving family members.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Edner Kirby Pugh and Willie Mae Williams Pugh Hayes, her husband, Charlie O. Bush, Sr. and brother Nathaniel Pugh.

Obituary Preview: Caldonia Williams (affectionately known as Callie) was born March 22, 1926 to the late James & Susie Anthony Williams. She attended the rural schools of Baker County, Georgia.
Caldonia was a member of Notchaway C.M.E. Church for many years and later became a member of Donalsonville Holiness Deliverance Church (Overseer Diann Kelley, Pastor) which is under the umbrella of Evangelical Faith Vision Ministries, Inc. (Sr. Pastor Apostle Felix & First Lady Andrea Revills) where she served faithfully until death.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late O.C. Kelly, and to this union 11 children were born.
Caldonia was a very loving and compassionate woman. She loved people and would take you anywhere you wanted to go as long as it was not farther than Colquitt!  She left a lasting effect on everyone she met. However, if you were looking for someone to "sugar coat" the truth when asked, then you had the wrong one, because she told it just like it was! This too was done in such a way that all you could do was say OK and just love her for it! She will surely be missed.
We thank God for sharing this ‘Beautiful-Classy Lady’ with us for as long as He did, and for that we are forever grateful.
Caldonia departed this life on Tuesday, February 9, 2021.  She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Susie Anthony Williams; her husband, O.C. Ms. Lula Jay Butler received her angel wings in the early hours of New Years Day, Friday, January 1, 2021.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Douglas and Mattie Mae Douglas, grandmother, Eliza T. At an early age, he joined the St. James CME Church where he served as a Jr. Choir member.  He attended the Early County Elementary and Jr. High School system then the Miller County High School system.
He was joined in holy matrimony to Wylene Roseborough on June 11, 1988 and to this union one child was born Angelica “Jelly” Thompson.  Antonio was a very fortunate handyman and a landscaper in which he enjoyed doing.
Antonio departed this life at his home on Sunday, July 12, 2020.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Anthony Freeman Thompson and Aarie Denise Jones and one sister Jaquelyn Thompson.

Cheryl Lynn Jackson - May 08, 1953 - June 25, 2020

Obituary Preview: Cheryl Lynn Jackson was born on May 8, 1953 to the late James B. Jackson and Annie Elizabeth Douglas Jackson in Miller County, Colquitt, Georgia.  She was one of 14 children.  At an early age, Cheryl dedicated her life to Christ and joined Tabernacle Freewill Baptist Church.  After graduating high school, she continued her education at Albany Technical College where she majored in Business Administration.
After leaving Albany Technical College, Cheryl moved to Newark, NJ, where she worked in the banking industry for years.  In 1983, she moved to California where she continued working in the banking industry.  In 1996, she moved back to Georgia where she began working in customer service until her retirement from Ikon (Ricoh Solutions).
Cheryl had a memory out of this world.  She would reminisce about any and everything.  Cheryl had a very vivid memory.  She could remember the exact date, time, place, and detail of any occasion.  Cheryl also had a love for music.  She loved all genres of music.  Cheryl had a very deep love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved how her grandchildren called her grandmother.  They could do no wrong in her eyes.
On Thursday, June 25, 2020, the Lord dispatched an angel to pick from his garden a rose, this rose was Cheryl Lynn Jackson.  She is preceded in death by her parents, James B. Jackson and Annie Elizabeth Douglas Jackson and six siblings.
Cheryl leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Charles T. (Sheerita) Jackson, Hampton, VA; four grandchildren, Tamia, Talia, Takeemiah, and Charles, Jr.; two great grandchildren Kylie and Aliyaah; six sisters, Rosa Bellamy, Linden, NJ; Carrie L. Herman J Davis, Jr. - March 16, 1932 - June 18, 2020

Obituary Preview: Herman Davis, Jr. was born in Webb, Alabama on March 16, 1932 to the late Grant Dixon and Elizabeth May Tolbert.
Reverend Herman Davis Jr. was very faithful to the churches he pastored, to his family, and most of all to God.  He was well known as “Reb” from Milton, FL all the way to Blakely, GA.  He was a father and a grandfather to not just his family and neighborhood but neighborhoods from near and far.  He loved pastoring, his children, grandchildren, farming and fishing.  Words cannot capture his character, as Rev. Davis would say, “I done my best, and I work from sun to sun but my work is never done!”  He was loved by everyone that knew him and will certainly be missed by all.
Reverend Davis departed this life and entered into the Gates of Heaven on Thursday, June 18, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Grant Dixon and Elizabeth May Tolbert; his brothers: Bruce Tolbert and Mac Tolbert Jr.; His sister: Earnestine Frazier; His children: Linda Gayle Davis, Comma B. Davis, Roger L. Davis and Tamela M. Moore.
To continue his legacy and cherish his memory, he leaves his wife: Betty Lee Davis; His four sons: Herman L. Davis, Jr., Harvey L. Davis, Homer L. Obituary Preview: Lillie Grace Kelly was born to the late David Kelly and Lillie Mae Thompson Kelly on February 18, 1942 in Colquitt, Georgia. She attended the rural schools of Miller County, GA.
She was a life long member of Ephesus Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Bainbridge, GA.  Lillie was a seamstress at Seminole Sewing Co. for 20+ years.  She advanced her career to a certified nurses assistant for 20+ years at Miller County Hospital. Lillie Grace was diagnosed with a rare lung disease in 1999.  Her life afterwards was a constant battle, but she kept a positive attitude.  She would often say, “I’m in God’s Hands.” It was during recent years that her health condition began to decline,  Minor activities such as washing dishes or walking to the mailbox became overtaxing.  But amazingly, she still kept a positive attitude.  She was confident in her relationship with her Lord and Savior.  Her words evolved to, “I’ll be here until He calls me.” On January 17, 2020, Lillie Grace received that call.  She is preceded in death by a brother, James L. Kelly.  Her life will certainly be a testimony to many. Despite her health challenges, she kept her faith in God.  SHE WAS A BRAVE WARRIOR!
Her memories will be cherished by her husband, Gene Kimble, Colquitt, GA.  She had three children, Randolph (Michele) Nelson, Jr. Nashville, TN; Ulysee “Smokey” (Sandra) Perkins, Jr., Colquitt, GA and Amanda Perkins whom she raised like her own, Dothan, AL; seven grandchildren, Kristy (Jeremy) Smith, Donalsonville, GA; Sabrina Nelson, Yolanda Nelson, Shakayla Perkins, Danavia Perkins, and Jamie Hayes all of Colquitt, GA; and Michael Hayes of San Antonio, TX.  Two great grandchildren, J. J. Smith and D.J. Freeman; one sister-in-law, Ella Hodge. Siblings, Archie Lee (Mamie) Kelly, Kissimmee, FL; Henry Kelly, Calista Kimble; Bertha Lee Bailey  and Annie Kate Kelly all of Colquitt, GA; Ruby (Shelman) Alexander, Orlando, FL and Eunice (Johnell) Thomas, Atlanta, GA; one aunt Ella Fair Thompson, Orlando, FL, and a host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
