Leonardo Eleodoro Guillen - December 15, 1956 - April 12, 2022

Departed: 04/12/2022 (Bronx)
Obituary Preview: Leonardo Guillen was born in the Dominican Republic on December 15th, 1956, to his loving parents, Altagracia Tatis Reyes, and Carlos Guillen Garcia. He lived in the Bronx in New York for over 30 years and was also able to call Hialeah Florida home for three years. Leonardo was a renaissance man of many talents in his life. He was a garment worker, leather cutter, movie set security guard, and maintenance worker over the years, but his greatest career of all was that of a loving husband, father, and friend. Leonardo was arguably the greatest Yankee fan of all time and one of the happiest and fun-loving people you could meet. Leonardo met his wife of 20+ years, Mayra, in the Dominican Republic at her place of work in the airport. Leonardo and Mayra went on to have two sons, Eduardo Baez, and Leonardo Guillen Jr.
If anyone asked Leonardo Guillen what his greatest accomplishments were in life, he would proudly say that it was his family and his seemingly endless list of friends. Him and his youngest son/best friend, Leonardo Guillen Jr., watched baseball for hours and shared countless Yankees games together. He made his entire family Yankees fans (his second greatest accomplishment). Second to his love of family and the Yankees was his love of music and good times. Leonardo’s favorite artist was Hector Lavoe and like the great singer, Leonardo lived his entire life unapologetically happy and lively until his final moments. He was a brave man with an indelible spirit and an enduring will to live and enjoy life to it’s fullest. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones.
Leonardo is survived by his wife, Mayra Guillen and his two sons Eduardo Baez and Leonardo Guillen Jr. “As the pretty carnation only wanted to bloom and show us its beauty and withered perish. Everything has its end; nothing lasts forever we have to remember that there is no eternity.” – Hector Lavoe “Death with its power can drive us away. And with it I would go down to the grave. But as long as in my being I live my soul and my heart, my illusions, the beautiful existence, will be yours.” – Hector Lavoe ------
