She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Dale Stover, of Cleveland and a sister-in-law, Carole Stover, from Seneca.
Also surviving Pauline are her children: Elizabeth Karen Allaman and her husband, Ron, of Knox and Kerry Allen Stover and his wife, Beverly, also of Knox. Pauline has four grandchildren: Angela Rhoades and her fiancée, Casey Daugherty, of Mars; Justin Allaman and his wife, Alison, of Erie; Remington Stover and his wife, Darina, of York, and Felicia Stover of Pittsburgh. Pauline adored her grandchildren and spent many happy hours with them baking, fishing, playing games and supporting them in every way. Pauline’s extra blessings were seven great-grandchildren: Lily and Brynlee Rhoades; Bryan, Riley and Abigail Allaman; and Gaitlin and Grady Stover, and numerous nieces and nephews, whom she adored.
Pauline was a proud member of the Class of 1951 at Keystone High School where she played in the band. Pauline’s musical talent was well known in the area. She played the piano at church and for her family. She took business classes from Miss Crissman. After graduation Pauline worked at Knox Glass as a bookkeeper. She also kept the books for Corny’s Sales and Service in Knox.
Pauline met the love of her life while attending Bible School as a child at St Paul’s United Church of Christ. Their friendship became a rare lifetime commitment to one another. They were united in matrimony at a lovely, double ring ceremony on August 6, 1954. Reverend Lewis Fox presided over the ceremony and united Pauline and Corny in marriage and Pauline’s sister, Ruby, was wed to Fred Mays. The two couples remained close throughout the coming years. Corny and Pauline were married for almost 68 years. Their commitment to one another was exemplary.
The center of Corny and Pauline’s life remained their church, St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wentling’s Corners. Pauline served as Sunday School teacher, and pianist at church. Regular church attendance was required every week in Pauline’s home, usually followed by a delicious chicken or roast beef dinner. What a cook she was! Nothing made her happier than gathering her family for food and games. She helped to organize many parties for friends and family. Her apple pies from scratch were phenomenal. Pauline loved to travel. She and Corny traveled as much and as long as they could. Pauline’s suitcase was always at the ready, as were her stories upon arriving home. If it was possible to do some fishing during that trip, Pauline was all in!
Pauline also served as a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She traveled with her Senior Girl Scout Troop to a beautiful Girl Scout camp in Mexico. Her organization skills and determined enthusiasm for life made her an excellent leader of young girls. During her leadership she took the girls on many camping trips and adventures.
Pauline was also a member of Eastern Star, The Red Hatters, a bowling league and the Knox Civic Club. She enjoyed the work done by these giving and fun organizations.
Pauline was always ready and willing to help anyone in need or suffering. She lived her faith by loving and sharing. Her favorite hymn was “Bless Be the Tie That Binds, our Hearts in Christian Love.”  She worked hard throughout her life making sure hearts were united with Jesus and one another.
Because of Covid there will not be a service at this time. A private viewing will be held for the family.
The family invites you to a celebration of life for both Corny and Pauline this summer at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. A tentative date has been set for August 6, 2022. He died at home with his family after a period of declining health. “Corny” was the fourth son born to Clarion Heeter Stover and Thelma Seigworth Stover in Wentling’s Corners on January 16th, 1935. He was preceded in death by his parents, three older brothers: Blaine Stover, Jim Stover, and Dwight Stover and his only sister Jane Stover Hach.  He is survived by his youngest brother Dale Stover of Cleveland and sister-in-law Carole Stover of Seneca. Corny could happily fill an evening telling stories about adventures with his brothers and little sister on Tippeecanoe Road.
Corny was awarded the Eagle Scout Badge as a young man. He spent many a summer day fishing in Canoe Ripple and swimming in Deer Creek. Perhaps that is where his avid love for fishing as an adult developed.
Corny met the love of his life while attending Bible School as a child at St Paul’s United Church of Christ. Their friendship became a rare lifetime commitment to one another. His beloved Pauline survives him.
The center of Corny and Pauline’s life remained their church.  Church family was their pleasure and their service. Corny often said, “everything one needs for a good life can be learned in Sunday School.”  Throughout his final days he listened to church services and was still seeking answers to his many questions about Jesus and His Love. Corny also served in the Lay Ministry at St. Paul’s Church.
Pauline and Corny raised two children, each of them reside in Knox and they survive with their spouses, Elizabeth Karen Stover Allaman (Ronald Allaman) and Kerry Allen Stover (Beverly Brosius Stover).
Corny adored his four grandchildren and strived to stay close to them. Angela Rhoades and her fiancée of Mars, Pa., Justin Allaman and his wife Alison of Erie, Pa; Remington Stover and his wife Darina of York, Pa and Felicia Stover of Pittsburgh. He was never happier than when his family was gathered together. Corny is also survived by his sister-in-laws Ruby Mays, Florence Thompson, and Lois Ashbaugh and his brother-in-law Cecil Ashbaugh. He was known as “Uncle Picky” to some of his many nieces and nephews. He reveled in kidding
children that he didn’t know his colors or numbers and needed their help in learning them. His love for people translated well with children.
The added blessing of seven great grandchildren was more than Corny ever expected. His face glowed with pride any time he could see them. Lily, Bryan, Riley, Brynlee, Abbi, Gaitlin and Grady were the laughter in his final days.
Corny and Pauline ran Corny’s Sales and Service in Knox. They worked together to build a business with their son Kerry. He never retired from that business. His customers were a very important part of his life.
Corny believed in the power of working together and belonged to many groups that supported people in need.  He was a 33rd degree Mason.  It was his great honor to work with these men.  He belonged to the Edenburg Lodge #550, the Lodge of Perfection in Oil City, the Scottish Rite of New Castle Consistory, the Clarion County Shrine Club, and the Zem Zem Shrine Temple in Erie.  He also worked with Boy Scouts, Knox Volunteer Fire Company and the Knox Boro Council.
Corny and Pauline enjoyed travel and made frequent trips to Canada and Florida. They often were in search of the “big one.” Corny was proud of his wife’s fishing skill – even though she always out fished him. Deer hunting was another time to spend time with his family and friends.
Because of Covid there will not be a service at this time. The family invites you to attend a service celebrating Corny’s life later in the summer.
A perfect man I am not, a sinner saved by grace alone. I did my best and now I rest until we meet again.
In leu of flowers please consider donations to the Knox Volunteer Fire Company, St Paul’s Lutheran Church or Shriner’s Hospital in Erie.

Scott A. Salser - June 09, 1962 - December 18, 2021

Departed: 12/18/2021 (Knox)
Obituary Preview: Scott A. Salser, retired vocal music instructor from Indiana, and formerly of Knox, passed from this life into eternity in heaven on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. from complications due to COVID pneumonia.
Scott was born on June 9, 1962, in Oil City Hospital. He was the firstborn son of Earl and Rhonda Salser of Knox. Growing up in Knox, Scott’s life was full of friends and memories. Scott and his younger brother Gregg teased and argued a little, especially when they were younger, but grew up to be close friends and would do anything for each other. His childhood years were full of neighborhood friends and formed a solid character and pleasant personality that came with a warm smile and a quick laugh. He learned to hunt and fish from his father. He was a Boy Scout and was very involved in the youth group at the Knox United Methodist Church where he began his lifelong faith journey. He loved traveling with his family and continued to do so throughout his life. In school, Scott was a good student who enjoyed learning. His first job was trimming Christmas trees for his grandfather during summer vacation which he continued through his college years.
Almost from the beginning, Scott’s passion was music. After coming home from Sunday School and plunking out the tunes they had sung that day at age five, he began piano lessons. He advanced so quickly that he was soon playing for school choruses and church. He was a member of the choirs at Keystone High School where he flourished as a singer and accompanist under the tutelage of Larry Frank and Thom Douglas. His talent and ability earned him membership in honor choirs at the District, Regional, All State, and Eastern Division Level. One of his treasured performing highlights as a high school student was singing the baritone role in The Telephone, an opera written by Gian Carlo Menotti for only two singers.
After high school, Scott attended Indiana University of PA and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. He continued his education later at Penn State University where he earned a Master’s Degree in Music Education. His first job was teaching elementary and middle school music in the State College Area schools. After two years, he became the high school chorus teacher at East Stroudsburg High School. It was during this time that he met a local instrumental music teacher named Karen and a dating relationship began. When the high school vocal music position opened in the Indiana Area School District where Scott had done his student teaching, Scott was awarded the job. The new job created a geographic separation that neither Scott nor Karen liked. They married that next summer on July 11, 1992.
At Indiana, Scott’s teaching flourished. He simply loved teaching vocal music. His career was one of commitment and compassion, two characteristics he endeavored to instill in his students and in the myriad of student teachers who benefitted from his fine example as a mentor. He would spend days each year looking through hundreds of new pieces, searching for ones that would be just right for his students. He established traditions that became hallmarks of excellence for the Indiana Chorus program. There was never a year when his students did not earn a spot in PMEA All State Chorus and many advanced to Eastern Division. On several occasions, Scott’s ensembles received an invitation to perform at the PMEA State In-Service Conference, a prestigious acknowledgement of the musical sophistication and prowess attained because of his capable leadership.
Some of his students went on to become professional musicians. All of them left with a deeper love for music and an understanding of how it could enrich their life. They experienced firsthand the result of hard work and discipline, growing under his nurturing, guiding hand toward artistic experiences that were of the very highest level. Scott valued all of his students and his investment in their lives was a powerful influence they would keep forever, largely through a quiet demonstration of his faith which was an integral part of his life. His mantra for them, said as they left his class everyday was “Make wise choices.” To this day, hundreds of his former students still hear his voice and that phrase ringing in their memories.
Scott formed deep friendships among his musical colleagues. All of them recognized his amazing talent and passion for choral music, resulting in Scott being invited to serve as guest conductor for numerous festival choruses within the six counties of PMEA District 3. For all his musical successes though, the most exciting event in his life occurred in 2006 when his only child, Delia was born.
Scott is survived by his wife Karen and his daughter Delia of Indiana; his parents Earl and Rhonda Salser of Knox; his brother Gregg Salser of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his nephew Derric Salser, an officer in the United States Marines Corps, and his niece Elizabeth Salser, an honor student at Ball State University.
He is also survived by uncles, Ted and Carl Salser, and Ed Weeter and his wife Linda. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Eugene and Betty Weeter and Homer and Mary Salser, all of Knox.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., April 30, 2022, at the Knox United Methodist Church, 9729 Route 338, Knox, with Reverend Wade Barto, pastor of the church, officiating.
An additional memorial service will be held in Indiana at a later date.
Interment will take place in the Knox Union Cemetery.

Salser Memorial Scholarship Fund” at the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, 216 Franklin Street, Suite 400, Johnstown, PA 15901 or may be made online at cfalleghenies.org/cfa-funds/scott-a-salser-memorial-scholarship-fund. It's often published in newspapers, online obituary platforms, or funeral home websites to inform friends, family, and community members of the passing.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased, while also providing essential information to those who need to know about the passing. They help to notify friends, family, and acquaintances of the death, allowing them to pay their respects and offer condolences.

What is included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the deceased person's name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, achievements, hobbies, and surviving family members. It may also include information about the funeral or memorial service, charitable donations in lieu of flowers, and other relevant details.

Who writes an obituary?

Obituaries can be written by family members, friends, or a professional writer hired by the funeral home or newspaper. In some cases, the deceased person may have written their own obituary in advance.

How long does it take to write an obituary?

The time it takes to write an obituary can vary depending on the complexity and length of the piece. On average, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours to craft a well-written obituary.
