Jillian D. Torres - February 13, 1989 - April 15, 2024

Departed: 04/15/2024 (Brodheadsville)
Obituary Preview: There aren’t any words to describe the void that is left in the hearts of the friends, and most importantly family members of our dearly beloved Jillian Torres who has now departed. Jillian was a beautiful soul, she was intelligent, courageous, inspiring and most importantly loved by many. Over the past twenty years she was fighting an uphill battle against multiple sclerosis, she beat the odds of how long her doctors determined she had, but that’s how our Jillian was. She leaves behind her mother, two sisters, a brother, nieces and nephews, aunts, an uncle and cousins. Our beautiful girl is gone, she wanted so much more for herself, she deserved so much more out of life. Jillian wanted to go to college, become a corporate lawyer and eventually have a family of her own. MS stripped her from having those things, but luckily she had her family to give her as much happiness over the years as they could. In reality, it was all of her friends and family who were lucky to have her. Although we all wish to have been given more time with her, we know that Jillian is free now, free from the pain, suffering and burden this disease had caused. We will continue to remember our Jillian as the bright young star that she was, although the moments we got with her are long gone, they will never be forgotten. Please continue to remember our beautiful Jillian, remember the best parts of her, as there were plenty. Words from her brother:
The void left in all the lives that Jillian touched will never be filled, however we can all take solace in knowing that for the remainder of our lives we can look back, and cherish our memories of her. Jillian was a beaming light, we’re all better for having seen her shine, having felt her presence, although we feel it was too short a span of time, we have to be grateful to have known her, to have laughed, to have loved, to have been sad together. Our family wishes are that in Jillian’s honor, we all live life with as much passion as Jillian had, although our love for Jillian transcends physical boundaries, we wish that we all love each other while still here in the physical, time waits for no one, a lesson we learned with our beloved Jillian.

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It's often published in newspapers, online obituary platforms, or funeral home websites to inform friends, family, and community members of the person's passing.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and remember the deceased, while also providing essential information to those who need to know about the passing. They can help facilitate communication among loved ones, allow people to pay their respects, and provide closure during a difficult time.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service (if applicable), surviving family members, and any notable achievements or accomplishments. Some obituaries may also include a photo, favorite quotes or songs, or other personal touches.

Who writes an obituary?

In most cases, the family of the deceased writes the obituary, often with the assistance of a funeral home or obituary writer. The writer should be someone who knew the person well and can provide accurate and meaningful information about their life.

How long does it take to write an obituary?
