Departed: 04/24/2024 (Oradell)
Obituary Preview: It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of George Alexander Bistrim, a devoted husband, loving stepfather, and longtime resident of Oradell NJ, who passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024, at the age of 78.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Cecelia Bistrim, his loving stepchildren, Sean Tuohy and Faith Dunkel; his very dear sister, Margaret Tenaglia; his cherished grandchildren: Sydney, Morgan, Quinn, Stella and Jake; as well as many dear cousins, nieces, nephews and long-time special friends. George was the devoted son of the late George and Mary (nee Samoluk), of Bayside, Queens, NY.
George was a man of unwavering principles. He had a strong moral compass and lived steadfastly by what he believed was right. George's outspoken nature and unapologetic candor left a lasting impression on all who knew him, for sure. Yet, beneath his frank exterior, was a generous heart, overflowing with a protective instinct for those he held dear. George's legacy lies in his boldness as well as the depth of his love and loyalty.
During the Vietnam era, George served as a Marine Reservist. Although he remained on the States’ side, he was recognized for his talent in electronics and exceptional accuracy on the rifle range.
George attended Parson’s School of Design and New York University earning a BA in industrial design. He had a talent for being able to look at things in new and innovative ways. He applied his creativity and attention to detail to a long term career of designing product packaging, advertising, and point-of-purchase displays.
In his free time, George enjoyed reading, learning and doing crossword puzzles. He also dabbled in stamp and coin collecting. However, family and home meant the very most to George. He applied his meticulous craftsmanship to renovations he personally made to his nearly century-old house. He transformed it into a solid and comfortable home for his family to enjoy for decades.
George found solace in driving. He provided transportation for his family and friends whenever needed. He also took his family on many memorable camping vacations with scenic drives to mountain ranges, waterfalls, rivers and canyons.
In his retirement years, George served his community by taking on the responsibility of safely transporting children as a school bus driver. He maintained both order and protection for every child who rode on his bus. He very much enjoyed the genuine connections that he was able to forge with the young families along his route.
Rest in peace, dear George. Your unwavering spirit and enduring legacy will forever be etched in our hearts.
Cremation services will be private, but a Memorial Service celebrating his life will be announced at a later date.

Joan was born and raised in South Philadelphia. A gifted student and pianist, she attended a Catholic girl’s boarding High School. During a school dance with a nearby Catholic boy’s school, she met Henry Joseph Campiglia (“Harry”), and it was love at first sight. Although she was at the top of the class at her school, she decided to transfer schools to be closer to Harry. The two graduated and went on to marry in 1954. Virginia Lee Bevillard - November 29, 1937 - April 09, 2024

Departed: 04/09/2024 (Oradell)
Obituary Preview: Virginia Lee Bevillard, a beacon of love and strength, passed away on April 9, 2024, at the age of 86. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Kenneth Francis Bevillard, with whom she shared 66 years of unwavering love and devotion.
She was born in Oradell, NJ on November 29, 1937. She was the oldest daughter of Russell and Lena Weber. She had an older brother Russie (deceased) and younger siblings: Robert, Linda (deceased) and Carol. She was very close with all of her family, but most especially with her Italian grandmother and grandfather. She would often tell stories about the times she would spend at their home. She would share how they always had a bounty of vegetables from their garden, and how they would make use of every scrap of food to create incredible meals. Her grandmother’s home was a place many would come to from the city for a respite. Virginia created that same legacy in her own home having an open door and open table for all.
Virginia was a scholar athlete. She was the top female athlete of her time in New Milford, N.J. She played and excelled in any and all sports. Ken and Virginia first met and bonded over their mutual appreciation for basketball at the full-size basketball court Virginia had in her backyard. While raising kids in N.J. she coached numerous teams, was the P.E. teacher at the Catholic grammar school and continued to compete herself in softball, bowling and track. She was the greatest fan of her own children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren cheering them on at every event she could.
While living in Cinnaminson, NJ, she worked at Macmillan Publishing company. Her primary career was that of a wife, Mom, homemaker and caregiver. She excelled in this career. Her husband Ken traveled for most of their married life. Therefore, she was home taking care of her family. She provided a home filled with love, expectations, and discipline. She was organized and kept an impeccably clean house. She was an amazing cook, often whipping up a meal for many on a minute’s notice. Her hospitality extended to all. She would often have a houseful of guests that she welcomed with food and love. Her laundry skills were famous. Family members could not wait for Virginia to clean their clothes as she would get them cleaner and smelling fresher than anyone could do it themselves. Though it may seem trivial to some - it was important to her and something she enjoyed and was proud to do.
The Bevillard family had the opportunity to move to Florida in 1980. This was an answer to many prayers as Virginia and Ken loved Florida. They lived in Hollywood, FL for a few years in the early 1960’s. They embraced the Florida lifestyle of fishing, boating and beach days. Virginia basically ran a bed and breakfast for the many visitors who came from up north. Somehow, she managed this while also taking on the role of caregiver. Virginia cared for her parents, aunt and sister in her home. She gave of herself to provide a secure and loving environment in their greatest time of need. This is a glimpse into the type of woman Virginia chose to be. She gave selflessly to others. All who knew her can testify to this.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was happiest caring for them and watching them grow and develop. She was their biggest cheerleader and greatest supporter. She never missed an opportunity to send a card on all occasions. It was important to her that those she loved and cared for knew she remembered their special occasions.
Anyone who knows our family, knows we take opportunities (many of them) to gather and celebrate special occasions. Virginia was at the heart of this tradition. She would do what it would take to throw a party, sustain family holiday traditions and enable large family vacations. She had boundless energy. She had a strong faith in God and relied on her Catholic faith through many of the trials and tribulations she endured. She valued education and always wanted the best for her family. Her legacy of love and faith will live on in all the lives she touched. We will continue to sing nursery rhymes to the great-grandchildren, gather around a table of great food and toast two incredible parents/grandparents who gave us so much.
She leaves behind her children: Ken (wife Shelly), Jim (wife Janet), Denise York (husband Ron), Greg (wife Bielka), Grandchildren: Christine Bevillard, Kim Hart (husband Andrew), Brandon Bevillard (wife Alex), Jessica Bevillard, Joshua Bevillard (wife Courtney), Shannon York, Ryan York (wife Julia), Olivia Bevillard, Julian Bevillard, Lucian Bevillard, Great-grandchildren: Jayden Bevillard, Peyton Hart, Hannah Hart, Austin Hart, Blakely Bevillard, Lainey Bevillard, Georgia Bevillard, Brooks Bevillard, Greyson York, sister Carol Zenn (husband Andrew), brother, Robert Weber (wife Linda), sister-in-law Ruthanne Blank, sister-in-law Michelle Cunningham, sister-in-law Christine Bevillard Harris, brother-in-law Hank Bevillard (wife Terri) and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family asks that donations be made to St. Andrew Catholic School, 1509 SE 27th St. Cape Coral, FL 33904

Mimi I. Sarthou - April 13, 1920 - March 20, 2024

Departed: 03/20/2024 (Oradell)
Obituary Preview: Mimi Intermont Sarthou of Midland Park, NJ, West Yarmouth MA, and Oradell, NJ joined her large and extended family in Heaven on March 20, 2024 after a long and productive life that spanned fashion, politics, women’s rights, social justice, civil rights, mental health and animal rights causes. She had a reverence and respect for all forms of life and worked to make a difference through the work she did and causes she championed. Mimi’s integrity, passion, determination, hard work and fairness earned her respect on both sides of the political aisle.
Mimi was born in West New York, NJ, the seventh and youngest child of John and Marie Intermont and graduated from St Joseph of the Palisades Grammar School and High School, later teaching CCD there. After World War II she attended classes at NYU.
Mimi’s career in fashion started in high school where she worked at Stones Special Lingerie Shop in West New York. After graduation in 1938, Mimi became the Secretary to the Director of Personnel at the National Association of Manufacturer’s at Rockefeller Center, and while at a dinner dance, Walter P Chrysler (founder of the Chrysler Corporation) asked her to dance.
It was during one of the family vacations to Lake Oscawana in New York State, Mimi met a dashing and handsome young US Army officer, Major Peter F. Sarthou. They were married at St Joseph of the Palisades Church on September 26, 1942. For their honeymoon she went with Peter to Fort Bragg in North Carolina, where he was an artillery instructor. In early 1943, Mimi accompanied Peter to Camp Edwards in Falmouth, MA, where their love for Cape Cod was founded and where she developed an eye for antiques. After Peter shipped off to the war in the Pacific, Mimi returned to her family in West New York, later moving with them to Ridgefield Park in the summer of 1943. She worked for Metropolitan Insurance while her husband was overseas. When Peter was injured on the island of IeShime off of Japan in April,1945, Mimi received a Missing in Action telegram 6 weeks after he was injured. She was then told he was a partial paraplegic from a grenade injury and was on the hospital ship, USS Comfort, going to Lawson General Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Mimi headed there and was his biggest advocate and also that of many injured soldiers whose families could not be with them. He was later sent to Fort Olgethorpe and Mimi lived nearby in Chattanooga, TN where she continued to support and encourage him. While down South she witnessed civil rights violations that would reinforce her belief in the equality of all persons, upholding this in every aspect of her life and politics.
After Peter was discharged from the US Army they moved back to Ridgefield, NJ, then Stuyvesant Village in NYC, later to Closter, NJ. Finally in 1951 Mimi and Peter moved to a new development, the Forest Ridge Association in Midland Park, NJ. They would remain there for the rest of their lives and became pillars of the community.
After the war, Mimi worked at Robert Hall and then for C.G. Wesp Co where she sold china and other furnishings to the hotel industry. After moving to Midland Park, she worked at Sealfons in Ridgewood, first as a sales person, then quickly becoming its manager and buyer. When Sam Sealfon opened his store in Summit, Mimi was charged with its opening. Mimi was known for her elegance and sense of fashion throughout her life.
Always and proudly a Democrat and believer in the ideals of unions, civil rights and social justice, she was an icon of Bergen County and NJ Politics. Mimi became active with the Democratic Club in Ridgewood in the 1950’s. She and Peter worked to establish the Midland Park Democratic Club and both were County Committee persons in Midland Park for over 20 years. Her effectiveness and commitment to Democratic philosophy, platform and hard work on many local and county campaigns, led her to be named as a campaign manager for President John F Kennedy’s 1964 campaign in NJ. After the assassination of JFK in Nov 1963, she embraced the campaign for President Lyndon B. Johnson’s election in 1964. Mimi and Peter were invited to the Inauguration and Inaugural Ball; she was featured in the Record wearing her gown for the event. She would become Senator Hubert Humphrey’s campaign manager for Bergen County in 1968, and later worked on Senator McGovern’s 1972 campaign and President Jimmy Carter’s 1976 and 1980 campaigns, attending the 1964, 1968, 1972, 1976 & 1980 Democratic conventions. She also worked on COUNTLESS municipal, (not only Midland Park), County, Congressional, Senate and Gubernatorial Elections from the 1940s to 1990s.
In 1967, Mimi was appointed by Governor Richard Hughes to the Bergen County Board of Elections, serving as the Secretary and later appointed by Governors William Cahill, Brendan Byrne and Thomas Kean as Deputy Superintendent and Superintendent of the Board of Elections. Mimi’s in depth and accurate knowledge of Title 19 Election, Statues & Rules of NJ was known throughout NJ and she had frequent calls from other Superintendents and the Attorney General referencing questions about elections issues and the law. In 1981, Mimi personally registered President Richard Nixon and his wife Pat in their Saddle River home and shared tea with the two of them.
Mimi was a long time member, Vice President and President of the Bergen County Women’s Democratic Association, member of the League of Women Voters, NJ Association of Election Officials, as Secretary and member of the Legislative Committee.
Mimi was a member of the Board of the March of Dimes and Chaired the Mother’s March several times helping to raise funds for birth defects. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and spent many years as it’s treasurer. She was a member of Toastmasters International and helped found the Midland Park chapter. She was one of the early advocates of West Bergen Mental Healthcare. Mimi supported the Bergen County Animal Shelter in Teterboro, and was a member of the Bergen County Animal Welfare Committee and US and Bergen County Humane Societies. She was infamous for caring for countless birds, stray cats, and other animals, even stopping by the side of the highway to feed or pick up an injured animal or bird, and was featured in an article in The Record in 1976.
Mimi was not only generous with her time and help with anyone who needed it. She would research a problem, figure out what needed to be done and made it happen; if she could not help, she would not hesitate to reach out to the person who could. While her husband was in the VA Medical Center in Lyons, NJ she would help other veterans and purchase clothes and food they needed but could not get because they did not have families to do so.
Mimi was always close and generous with her family and friends and made the summer home she and Peter built on Cape Cod, available for all. It was a great place of peace and beauty and Mimi loved to walk the beach on Nantucket Sound with the wind in her hair.
Mimi was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, Peter in 2009; parents John and Marie Intermont, sisters: Helen Intermont, Rita Raacke, Eileen Meyers, Evelyn Greco; brothers: Alfred, Jack, Colonel Robert Intermont; sisters in law: Ruth Intermont, Nan Intermont; brothers in law: Fred Raacke, Nelson Meyers, Bernie Greco; nieces: Maryann May, Ginger Pilkerton; Nephews: David Intermont, Peter Greco. Mimi is survived by her loving niece Dr. Lisa Raacke and husband Edward Malley, great nieces: Katherine Malley, Rita Malley and Caroline Malley who have opened their home to her for the past 13 years; nieces and nephews: Cynthia Greco, Kathleen Intermont & Michael Burns, Jody Intermont & Helaine Doran, Maryann & Perry Ustick, and Marie & Carl Stephan, Edward Pilkerton; 14 great Nieces and nephews and 9 great-grand nieces and nephews; and dear friend Ela Lamorte.
The family will receive family and friends on Friday, April 5 from 3:00-8:00 PM at Basralian Funeral Home, 559 Kinderkamack Rd, Oradell NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 6 at 9:30 AM. Internment will follow at Madonna Cemetery in Fort Lee, NJ. Mimi would always say “Don’t forget to vote in EVERY election so that your voice is heard!” – PLEASE heed Mimi’s words!

Violet Kasparian - August 14, 1927 - March 16, 2024

Departed: 03/16/2024 (Oradell)
Obituary Preview: Violet A. Kasparian, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 96, on March 16, 2024. Born a fraternal twin, with sister Margaret, in Chicago, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Yeranouhi.
She graduated from Evanston High School two years early at the age of 16. She was accepted at and took classes at Northwestern University while working as a secretary and stenographer for the US Army. Violet attended St. James Armenian Church of Evanston, Illinois. She sang in the church choir and was an active member of the Armenian Church Youth Organization.
In 1951, she married Rev. Arnak Kasparian and moved to New Britain, Connecticut. When Fr. Arnak was assigned as assistant pastor at St. John Armenian Church, she moved to Detroit, Michigan. She acted as church secretary while raising four children in Detroit.
In 1962, she moved to New Jersey after her husband accepted the pastorate at St. Thomas Armenian Church in Tenafly. Having a great love for teaching, she assumed the duties as the superintendent of the Sunday school, as well as a Sunday school and Armenian language schoolteacher.
She played an active role in many church organizations and activities throughout the years, including Women’s Guild member and chairwoman, church choir member, and volunteering at annual church picnics and bazaars. She was also a member of the Daughters of Vartan (a charitable organization serving the Armenian people worldwide).
She later joined St. Leon Armenian Church in Fair Lawn, and was an active member there for years, as well as a member of the Women’s Guild and Sunday School. During her later years she recited Bible stories and lessons to the entire Sunday school before classes began.
In 2010, Violet was the recipient of the Guild’s first Women of Wonder (WOW) Award for her lifetime of untiring service and contribution to the Women’s Guild and the Armenian Church community, including 18 years of devoted work with the School Bag Project. The impetus for this project was the devastating earthquake that struck Armenia in 1988. This tragedy destroyed many schools and had long term effects on Armenia’s educational system. Violet wanted all children to have educational opportunities. For this reason, she conceived, initiated, and realized this project that she held so dear. For this project she requested and received monetary donations, approached local businesses, appealing for, and receiving large quantities of free school supplies, and coordinated volunteers to pack and prepare for international shipping many thousands of school bags to various regions within Armenia that were most effected by the earthquake.
After nine years of night school in New Jersey, Violet earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from William Patterson College in 1971. Having volunteered at a Tenafly school library, she was hired as an elementary school librarian by the Tenafly Board of Education. She continued her education with a Master’s Degree in Media from Seton Hall University in 1975. She also earned an additional 40 credits in her post graduate studies.
While active with her church community, Violet was also active in her professional life. She was very involved with and proud of her Maugham and Stillman School activities and community, always receiving high praise on her annual reviews. She loved working with children, always finding ways to add fun and the love of learning to their lives. After 25 years, Violet retired from teaching in 1993 due to her worsening retinitis pigmentosa, which slowly progressed and limited her eyesight, ultimately leading to total blindness.
Violet had a dynamic personality and was always full of energy. When not busy helping or doing for her family or community, she enjoyed knitting, keeping physically fit, and cooking, often trying new recipes and perfecting older, traditional ones. She had a sweet tooth and loved her ice cream sundaes, butter pecan ice cream, and Turtle pecan cluster candies.
The Jersey Shore was her happy place. She loved being down in Manahawkin surrounded by family and friends. She never let her loss of sight get her down or slow her down. She continued all her hobbies and activities throughout her life, often surprising others when they realized she couldn’t see.
During her retirement years, she happily accompanied her husband on many trips to mission parishes throughout the United States. She was a devoted wife of the late Rev. Arnak Kasparian to whom she was married for 67 years, until he passed in 2017.
Loving mother of Stephen (Janet) Kasparian, Laurie (Randall) Preston, Maro Kasparian, Ardis (Robert) Waldron, and Thomas Kasparian; dear grandmother of Maria (Mazinho), Laura (Benjamin), Elena, Samuel, Trevor, Jacob, Micaela, Minas, and Matthew; great-grandmother of Alden. Sister of Margaret Stepanian and Sara “Zarook” Cooper. Sadly, in addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her children Arden and Susan, and by her elder brother George.

Thomas Robert Faley - July 12, 1937 - March 02, 2024

Departed: 03/02/2024 (Oradell)
Obituary Preview: It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas R. Faley aka “Pa”, 86, on March 2, 2024. He left this world just like he wanted to at home, surrounded by loved ones after many courageous battles with multiple medical conditions.
Born on July 12, 1937 in Tenafly, NJ. Tom was the 2nd eldest of five children born to Joe and Lucretia Faley. Tommy was predeceased by two brothers, Jimmy & Donald, his sister Denese Faley, his brother-in-law, Warren Cole and granddaughter Isabella Carroll. His sister Patty is still alive and kicking in Dumont. And, his sister-in-law Anka Cole continues to live in Virginia. Not to mention all of the many male family dogs that he lost over the years. Heaven knows he needed extra testosterone in a house full of females.
He grew up in Tenafly and was a beloved member of the community throughout his life. He graduated Tenafly High School in 1956 where he was a full back on the school’s soccer team all four years. When he wasn’t riding his beloved Palomino horse, Blondie, he was working at the local A+P as a butcher’s apprentice. Tom enlisted in the United States Marine Corp right after his 18th birthday in 1956. His service brought him from Parris Island to Okinawa, Japan and then finally Hawaii where he was honorably discharged in 1959. Although never seeing combat, this Marine served his country by the slice, as a baker (MOS#3311). Never baking anything for his family we all took him at his word that he was a great baker!
After the military, Tom remained in Hawaii for the next 10 years where he worked as a butcher at a slaughter house and studied karate earning a Brown Belt before he left. After returning to Tenafly in 1969, he began his career with the Tenafly DPW where he was employed for 25 years. Throughout his lifetime he tirelessly worked many jobs (sometimes at the same time) to provide for his family never once complaining. He pumped gas at Bob’s Gulf (Tenafly) for a short time after getting married and then worked a second full time job as a butcher for 20 plus years in several Grand Unions until he retired from both. During his first retirement he went from working two jobs to only one. For the next 15 years he drove a delivery truck for Chartwell’s for the Fort Lee School District. During his “second” retirement he became and remained until his death Darlene’s sous chef cutting, peeling and preparing many meals for his family, but sadly, still no cake.
Notable highlights in his career include being the 2011 Chartwell’s Employee of the Year and in 2016 he retired as the longest serving usher/greeter in St. Joseph’s Church. He was a member of the Rodeo Association, former member of the New Milford/Teaneck Elks, and a current member of the Gooney Bird Det NJ NEDIV.
Beyond his professional life, Tom was a loving husband to Darlene for almost 52 years. He was too shy to ask her out when they first met when he was 16 years old working in the A+P but made up for it years later. His second chance came when he walked into her at the Columbia Bank in Tenafly where she worked on the floor. He was so taken with her that only in “Tom” fashion would he bring his dates to Danny’s Steakhouse to watch her work. Fast forward. Four months after asking her out, they were engaged and married 6 month later.
Time did not allow for this nutty Irishman, with a sense of humor to match, a lot of time for outside hobbies and interests. For a man who worked so much he was able to squeeze in and enjoy a wide array the simple pleasures in life. Antiquing, collecting “valuables”, pushing buttons, camping in his younger years, playing the lottery, driving cross country in an RV, watching Liam Neeson movies, anything on television about the Marines or the military and napping aka “resting my eyes”. Sitting out on the balcony in Sea Isle City looking for porpoise and ships out in the ocean was always something he looked forward to each summer. Along with eating out and driving past his favorite house in Cape May.
The only thing that he loved more than his wife and children were his two grandchildren and his six great grandchildren. They remained his personal motivation to get better each time he was hospitalize telling people that he had to get better so he could see them all again.
Tom was a man of few words, but when he spoke… Watch out. Those who knew him best know exactly what I mean. You never knew what would come out of his mouth. Sometimes off topic, sometimes a true “Tomism” but all times his words came with love.
Tom is survived by his wife of 52 years Darlene Faley, children; Donna Stravalle, Dawn Doyle, Dana Faley and Doreen Carroll and her husband Kenneth; and his son-in-law Raymond Ceccarelli and wife Sonia remained close frequently checking in and catching up during family gatherings. Laughing over the many memories made over the past 30 plus years together. Tom also left behind his two grandchildren; William Ceccarelli and his wife Katelyn and Danielle Perez and her husband Edward. He also had six great grandchildren; Michael, William Jr, Vincent, Delaney, Evelynn, and Madelyn.
The family expresses their gratitude for the support and care provided by all those who helped him reach 86 years old. Especially Oliver, the son he never had who was his physical therapist who worked with Tom for over three years always returning him to his “Vicegrip” status.

Departed: 02/21/2024 (Oradell)
Obituary Preview: Joan Bogosian, of River Edge passed away on February 21st at the age of 90.
Born in Astoria, NY, to parents Michael and Helen who were born in Istanbul, Turkey, and New York City, respectively. Joan was the middle sibling between her brothers, George and Ronnie. She spoke fondly of her youth including time spent at the Astoria Pool and later, picnics with extended family at Cunningham Park when the family moved to Flushing, Queens. Her passion for the piano began at the age of 8 when she started her lessons and continued through young adulthood, culminating with a concert at Carnegie Hall.
Becoming an active participant in all facets of the Armenian Church began as a young girl. As a member of St. Gregory's Junior Choir in NYC, her love for the Armenian Church and its liturgy began. As a young woman, Joan was active in Holy Martyrs Armenian Church in Bayside and participated in the many cultural activities of the local youth organizations. There was not an Armenian sponsored dance that she would miss. It was during these times she created lifelong friends who, together, would frequent the then popular Armenian destinations: the Catskills and Asbury Park.
Joan's first job was as a coat/hat check girl in Manhattan, and she later became an Executive Secretary at Chase Manhattan Bank and later, Foreston Coal Company. She had a passion for travel and saved her money so that she could travel with her best friends to Europe on multiple occasions.
Through the Armenian organizations she met her future husband, Armand. They wed in 1969 and welcomed their daughter, Claudine. Joan was a loving and devoted stay at home mom who shared her love of the church, her love of the arts and the joy of a clean house. Soon after, they moved from Queens to River Edge, New Jersey. They became active members of St. Thomas and later St. Leon’s Armenian church. Joan was active in the Women’s Guild and volunteered her time to a variety of church functions but especially the ACYOA of which her daughter was an active member.
Joan was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. She had a deep love of classic movies, music, and the opera -any of which would be playing in her home at any given time. Joan especially loved the time she spent with family on her brothers' boats on Long Island.
Joan is predeceased by her husband, Armand, brothers George and Ronnie Aydinian and nephew Michael Aydinian. Joan is survived by her loving daughter Claudine, cherished sister-in-laws Alice Aydinian, Peggy Aydinian and Jeanette Ekizian; brother-in-law Paul Bogosian and beloved aunt to Steve and Mark Aydinian, Christine Weber, Darren Aydinian, Stephanie Balint and Laura and Christopher Ekizian.

Departed: 02/11/2024 (Oradell)
Obituary Preview: Donald Robert Mullen, Sr., passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on February 11, 2024, at the age of 87.
Previously departed loved ones include his parents, George and Engeborg, and his beloved sister, Ruth Milton, to whom he was affectionately known as “Babe.” Don is survived by his loving wife of over 66 years, Mary Carol Mullen, and their three sons: Donald R. Mullen, Jr., Christopher Mullen, and John “Jack” Mullen. He is also survived by his devoted brother, George Mullen, and 13 grandchildren.
Don and his wife Carol raised their three boys in River Edge where Don was known by neighbors for his love of tomato plants and flavorful pasta sauces. Neighbors also turned to Don whenever they needed a home repair, and he was always happy to share his knowledge or lend a hand. When Don’s own children became adults and purchased homes or made home improvements, they sought him out to supervise the process on their behalf and fondly remember the “blue tape” that he used to mark imperfections requiring repair.
Neighborhood children might remember Don as the father that marched them up and down the neighborhood to clean up littered ice cream and candy wrappers. However, what many growing up in River Edge might not have known was that Don was also responsible for spearheading the upgrade of the of the River Edge & Kenneth B. George Park baseball fields and equipment.
However, his real passion later in life was the River Edge Shade Tree Commission where he personally supervised the planting of hundreds of trees throughout the borough.
Don was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged with two years of active service. Following his time in the Army, Don made a career as an elevator engineer for Otis Elevator with 35+ years of service.
