Obituary Preview: Jay - It is with great sadness that we announce that Donald A Marquis of Jay, passed away peacefully at home on January 29, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Donald was born on March 25, 1939, in Stockholm, Maine. He was the son of Henry and Desneige (Guerette) Marquis. He attended Lewiston High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1958.

On September 2, 1961, he married the love of his life, Anita, who he adored with all his heart. They made their home in Jay Maine and raised five children. Don was a dedicated husband and father, taking great pride in his children’s accomplishments and always offering encouraging words during difficult times. He loved to take the family on trips to the beach, camping, Santas Village, Storyland and mini golfing at Tabers.

Don was employed by Sampsons Supermarket, Hannaford, International Paper and eventually retired at General Electric. He had a reputation for having a solid work ethic, outgoing personality and positive attitude.

Don enjoyed being outdoors and could be seen regularly working in the yard, tending his gardens, picking apples at the local orchards and walking his dogs Bowser, Benji and most recently Leo. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler in his younger years. He was a faithful NY Giants fan who also enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Bruins from his comfy chair in the living room. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities.

Don’s kindness, outgoing personality and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Anita (Leclair) Marquis, his sons Scott and companion Michelle Cyr, Ricky and Debra of Monmouth, David of Jay and companion Kaylieana Lopez, Tony Cerrato of Jay, and daughter Diane and Shawn Foss of Jay, Grandchildren Evan (Jasmine) of Auburn, Alyssa(James) Ireland of Auburn, Breanna (Stevie) Ray of Minot, Cody (Amelia) Gallagher of Winthrop, Matthew of Monmouth, Cody (Mariah) Mitchell of Raymond, Connor and Sophie Foss of Jay and 7 great grandchildren along with his brother Dennis (Helene) of Warren Brother in-law Robert LeClair of Lewiston sister in-law Theresa Marquis of Auburn and sister in-law Jeanne Wentworth of Lisbon.

He was predeceased by both his parents; brothers, Armand, Norman and Henry, and his sister Greta. The family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice for the excellent care provided to Don and his family.

A celebration of Life for Donald will be held at Fitness Stylz, located at 17 Depot St Livermore Falls. From 1-4pm on March 3. Anyone wishing to attend please use the rear entrance. Obituary Preview: Auburn - Wendall J. Kolreg Jr., 61, of Jay, passed away Saturday October 23, 2021 at the Androscoggin Hospice House. He served in US Army, enjoyed gardening, grilling & nature walks.

He is survived by partner Antonina Lekanoff, daughter Valerie Lekanoff, son Joseph Kolreg, daughter in-law Jemmy Kolreg, grandson Bryan Kolreg, father Wendall J. Kolreg Sr., siblings Wenda Sudduth, Teakay Kolreg, Rebekah (Sean) Mitchell. Christie (Joe) Lee. Aunts, uncles and many nieces and nephews.

Wendall was predeceased by his daughter Desiree Lekanoff, his mother Connie Main and stepfather Jack Main.

Cynthia Jean Cook - October 21, 1948 - September 18, 2021

Obituary Preview: Livermore - Cynthia Jean (Henry) Cook passed peacefully at home with her loving husband and daughter by her side. Cyndy fought a courageous battle with CNS Lymphoma of the brain for 15 months and finally succumbed on Saturday, September 18, 2021.

Cynthia was born on Oct. 21, 1948 to Raoul and LauriAnn Duguay (Henry) Doiron of Jay, Maine. She was the eldest of 3 sisters. She attended Jay Schools and graduated from Livermore Falls High School. On October 12, 1966 she married her first and only love, Byron Cook, of Livermore. She passed just a few weeks before their 55th wedding anniversary.

Cyndy’s courage in the face of a dismal prognosis was inspiring to say the least. She did not complain about what was asked of her at any point in her diagnosis. She wanted to live and was determined to be here for a lot longer. She wanted to watch great-grandchildren and weddings and continue traveling with her husband, daughter and son-in-law.

Most people did not know that Cyndy was a talented artist. She had a talent with embroidery, painting, drawing, pastels and any activity that allowed her to use her creativity and her hands. She passed that love of art onto her granddaughters. Every week she would let them pick out a project from an art book and they would make that project. They loved their times with her. She was a devoted grandmother and was proud of her involvement in their lives from first their first breaths until her last. She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her loving husband, Byron, her devoted daughter, Kristin (Cook) Center of Freeport (Harry B), her grandchildren Whitney & Kayla Bibeau of NYC, NY, Haley Cook of Virginia and Logan Cook of Virginia. Also, her younger sisters, Iris Trask (Terry) of Old Orchard Beach and Michele Marble (Tom) of Wilton and several nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Louis “Louie” Stoklas, 96, a lifetime resident of Jay, passed away from natural causes on April 15 at Sandy River Center in Farmington where he was a resident since January. He was born May 23, 1923 in Jay, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Hreha/Gaydos ) Stoklas. He was a graduate of Jay High School. After high school he entered the US Army during WWII. He served in New Guinea and the Philippines. Upon discharge from the Army, he went to work for International Paper Company, first in their Otis Mill and then in the Androscoggin Mill. He retired from there in 1986. Louis was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima church in Jay. He was a member of both the VFW and the American Legion in Jay. Louis was quiet man with a witty, dry sense of humor. He was well loved by family and friends alike. In his younger years, he belonged to several bowling leagues. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed attending their games in Boston. He loved to play cards and Scrabble with his siblings and with his several nieces and nephews. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Joseph Stoklas, Mary Viger, Margaret “Peggy” Piela, Anna Pagurko, John Gaydos, and Elizabeth “Betty” Coulombe.
