She was born July 13, 1933 in Sturgis, KY to Cleona Roberts and Jimmie D. Roberts. She was a 1951 graduate of Sturgis High School. She was an avid reader, loved to do counted cross stitch, and crochet. Janice and Jack loved to travel and had a camper at the lake where they had a pontoon boat and fished. She bowled on a women’s league. She worked for 53 years at the Farmers State Bank and later Planters Bank in Sturgis. Janice was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis.
She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by the love of her life, Jack Gifford Adamson Sister-in-law Dot Timmons of Morganfield, KY Mae Moore of Evansville, IN Cousins Tina Williams of Madisonville, KY Linda Vandiver of Madisonville, KY
Nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral service will be 1 PM Friday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis, KY. Rev Jeff Ellis will officiate.

She was born on January 23, 1938 to Lester Elwood Dixon and Nellie Lucretia (Lamphere) Dixon in Southern Illinois, and to all who knew her, was a unique and caring individual who touched the lives of all who knew her.
She married Doyle Markham on September 26, 1956 in Morton, IL. She and her husband later moved to East Peoria, IL where she raised her children Kathy Jean Markham, Lester Otto “Bo” Markham and Patricia June Markham. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who spent many years working at several area factories including Caterpillar, Inc. and later retired to Southern Illinois in a small village called Eddyville, IL, continuing to touch the lives of those who knew her there.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elwood & Nellie Dixon; brothers, Lester Eugene “Gene” Dixon and George William “Billy” Dixon; sister Caroline Lou Dixon (Brumfield); husband Doyle Markham; two of her children Lester Otto “Bo” Markham and Patricia June Markham; two of her grandchildren, Tabitha Lynn Markham (Deihn), Chelsea Dawn Brewster, and Jonsey Shawndale Weathers.
She is survived by sisters Nellie Louise Dixon (Spense) and Patty Jean Dixon (Morse); daughter Kathy Jean Markham; grandchildren Christy Maye Markham (Threlkeld), John William Doyle Markham, Nicholas Heath Markham, Ian Doyle Markham and Ryan Dual Markham; great grandchildren, Jordan Dylan Brewster, Shaylee Dawn Brewster, Ian Doyle Markham II, Clayton Markham, Harleigh Michelle Markham, Aubree Skye O'Griffin, Axel Markham, Chase Ryan Markham and soon to be Wesley Bo Markham; great great grandchildren Tailynn Marie Dawn Brewster and Kaidan Roy Doyle Brewster and a large number of cousins, nieces, nephews and more who all love her dearly.

Samantha dedicated her life to service and taking care of others. After working at United Methodist Hospital for 25 plus years she retired and took care of her beloved grandchildren Hadley and Elijah, who will miss their sweet “Mimi.” In addition to being a caretaker Samantha loved music and spending time with her children.
Ms. McClary is preceded in death by her parents Joseph McClary Sr. & Kindrell “Maxine” Cardwell.
She is survived by: her partner, Aubrey “Pete” Liles; son, Robert “Cole” Rowley; daughter, Lauralee Chabot; brother, Joseph “Bob” McClary; sister-in law, Roberta “Bobbi” McClary; nephew, Ryan McClary; nieces, Jenna & Reegan McClary; great niece, Penelope McClary; granddaughter Hadley & Elijah Liles the children of Johnathon Liles & Hillary Liles; and several close friends.

Denise was born on March 6, 1955 in Hollywood, FL to the late Illoff and Eudena Abell. She graduated from Union County High School in 1973. She retired after many years at Union County Health Dept.
Denise married the love of her life Barry Brinkley on September 3, 1977. They settled in Sturgis, KY where they raised their children.
Denise loved being with her family and friends. She was an active member of Sturgis Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she was involved in numerous church activities. Denise had a servant’s heart which led her to establish Taste of Heaven meals.
Denise is survived by her husband Barry. Daughter Daphne Murphy and husband Travis of Morganfield, KY. Son Baron Brinkley and fiancé Ashley Rose of Princeton, KY. She is also survived by her grandchildren who knew her as Nisey. Addie & Eden Ford of Mississippi. Lyla Navrkal of Texas. Ella & Eli Murphy of Morganfield, KY.

Ann was born in 1928 to Pauline and Kenneth Kington who preceded her in death. She married O.C. Quirey in 1946 and they lived in Sturgis for more than 50 years prior to his death. They had one daughter, Nancy Quirey Shelton, who passed away in 2021. Ann was an active member of the First Baptist Church and was a bank teller before managing the Ben Franklin store in Sturgis for many years. Known affectionately as Mammy to her offspring, she was excellent at spreading joy and played a mean game of cards. She is survived by her three grandchildren, Mark Mason and his wife, Stacie of Bloomington, IL, Mindy Patterson and her husband Steve of McMinnville, OR and Bobby Bersky and his wife Molly of Florence, AL. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren , Sydney Mason, Nikelous Patterson, Ainslee Patterson, Beau Bersky, Cort Bersky and Asa Bersky.

Obituary Preview: Ruth Evelyn Ford, age 76 of Sturgis, KY went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 8AM surrounded by family at home. Ruth was born at home in Marion, KY February 15, 1948 to Finis and Cora Kinnis. She graduated from Webster County High School in 1966. She married the love of her life, Dale Ford, on May 20, 1967.
Ruth was a faithful servant to her Lord and Savior. She was actively involved in missions for over 45 years. She led many people to the Lord while she was a Sunday school teacher, Acteen leader, pastor’s wife serving churches for 31 years, WMU director for the Ohio Valley Baptist Association. Ruth and Dale went on many mission trips including Russia, Brazil, Trinidad, Connecticut, and Eastern Kentucky. Ruth was a stay at home mom until Jason and Tiffany were in elementary school. Ruth catered many weddings and birthdays. She sold Tupperware as a manager who’s legacy taught others to be an effective salesperson and leader. Ruth worked for Dr. Soni for about 20 years serving the public needs, not only physical but spiritual as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Finis and Cora Kinnis; 2 sisters, Velda Beiswinger and Carolyn Johnson. Obituary Preview: STURGIS, Ky. – Douglas Frank “Doug” Pride, 73, died February 8, 2024, in Louisville, Ky., surrounded by his family. Doug was born on December 30, 1950, to Bill and Charlene Pride. Doug was raised on the family farm in Pride, Ky., where he learned many of the virtues that would define him throughout his entire life – including humility, honesty and hard work. A natural athlete with innate toughness, Doug excelled in football in his high school years. He was a 1968 graduate of Union County High School in Morganfield, Ky., and attended Western Kentucky University before joining the Kentucky National Guard. He supported his family for many decades as a farmer working alongside his family, and in his later years, he embarked on a second career at Hydro Aluminum in Henderson, Ky
.
Doug met the love of his life, Karla Riggs Pride, in high school. They married on February 1, 1969. He was a wonderful and loyal husband to Karla through the years. He never wavered in his support of her, nor did she of him. The couple recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
Doug truly excelled as a father. He and Karla were blessed with four children – three sons, Jason, Nathan and Kevin, and a daughter, Mesia Lynn. He led by example and showed his children what hard work and determination looked like – he embodied these traits day in and day out.
Doug was a kind, loving and Christian man who was devoted to his family. He was always pleasant and brightened a room with his smile. He was selfless, humble and good-natured. He was dependable, always there when you needed him. He put the needs of others before his own. He was steady and patient.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Karla Pride of Sturgis; beloved sons, Jason Pride and wife, Sherrie, of Louisville, Nathan Pride of Los Angeles, and Kevin Pride and life partner, Amy Boone, of Louisville; grandsons, Evan, Grant and Spencer Pride, all of Louisville; sister, Dottie Davis and husband, Dan, of Morganfield; brother, Joe Pride of Sturgis; sisters-in-law, Ginny O’Nan of Sturgis, Meg Davis and husband, Eberley, of Nicholasville, Ky., and Grace Riggs of Sturgis; and nieces and nephews, Paige Bingham, Parish, Paul and Pamela Pride, Frances Tompkins, Zane, Jack and Lee Davis, Jodee Donaldson, Jennifer Pride, Brooke Hunt, Kyle O’Nan, William Riggs, Maggie Kellar and Seth Davis.

many awards and commendations, including the Distinguished Flying Cross. After his Air Force service, Bob continued his career as a pilot, flying for Rapid Air, Denver, CO and later,
for Buddy Morris Coal Company, from which he retired. Bob was an avid golfer and when the weather interfered, he played cards, and enjoyed crossword puzzles. He was an active member of the Sturgis First Christian Church. Most of all, Bob loved his family and cherished friends. He will be remembered by family and friends for his keen sense of humor and
quick wit. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Charlotte, daughters, Lynn Hanssen of Las Vegas, NV, Laurie Smith (Ted) of Denver CO and son, William Steward.
