Mrs. Wallace was born July 3, 1930, to Ilma Joseph and Theodore Bostic on the  US Virgin Island of Croix.

As a teenager, she left the island with her mother and two younger siblings and began her journey living in New York.  She graduated from Wadley High School in Manhattan, New York and attended Harlem Hospital’s nursing program.  She was a member of St. Andrews church in Manhattan, New York, where she sang in the choir and married her husband.
On October 10, 1959, she married John Wallace.  A few years after that, she bore her first daughter and after that ordeal vowed to never go through that again.  However, four and a half years later, after much coxing from her husband for a boy, she birthed her second daughter.
