Alexis N. Jauregui - October 19, 1993 - June 22, 2022

Departed: 06/22/2022 (Azusa)
Obituary Preview: We are horribly saddened to announce the unexpected passing of Alexis Nicole Jauregui, at the age of 28. After many years of struggling, Alexis succumbed and lost her battle with depression. Alexis was hilarious, kind, generous, helpful, silly and loving. But with this daunting illness, Alexis couldn’t see any of that in herself and it killed her. Alexis Jauregui was born on October 19, 1993 to parents Albert Jauregui and Jeannette in Glendora, California. She attended St. Cloud University in Minnesota receiving a Bachelor’s degree in environmental science. Alexis moved back to Baldwin Park, California in January 2019, to help her brother and sister while they were all grieving the loss of their father. This is when her depression got the best of her! Alexis tried to maintain her depression by seeking counseling and medication, she tried to keep herself busy by working as a bartender, and she also enrolled in school to obtain her master’s degree. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough as certain dates tormented her. Alexis broke down on every anniversary date of her fathers death, every birthday and Father’s Day that past. This year she couldn’t come back and succumbed to this terrible illness. Alexis is predeceased by her father Albert Jauregui and survived by her mother Jeannette, brother Christian Jauregui, sister Janelle Jauregui, aunts, uncles and many cousins. Services will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 @ 4:30 PM at “One & All Christian Church” 1404 W Covina Blvd., San Dimas CA 91773. Donations can be made to https://everloved.com/life-of/alexis-jauregui/

Everett John Wilkins - March 30, 2022 - June 19, 2022

Departed: 06/19/2022 (Azusa)
Obituary Preview: Everett John Wilkins was born on March 30, 2022 in Los Angeles, CA. During his short time on earth, he battled a congenital heart defect (hypoplastic left heart syndrome or HLHS), a genetic microdeletion, and various other health complications. Through all of the challenges he so bravely faced, he brought much joy to many people, including the nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals who cared for him, his family, and the many people praying for him and following his story. Everett was described as “social” by his nurses and many people pointed out how alert he was, gazing at the faces of those caring for or visiting him, or focusing intently on his beloved mobile. His beautiful brown eyes seemed to reflect a depth beyond his two months of age, and some of his parents' fondest memories of him are looking into those precious eyes. While Everett never had the chance to experience life outside of the hospital, he certainly knew the love of his family and friends and touched countless hearts. He showed us the value of all humans, regardless of disability or medical challenges. Everett went home to his Heavenly Father on Father’s Day, June 19, 2022, and his broken heart was finally made whole. From when we found out about Everett’s HLHS diagnosis at 20 weeks of pregnancy, we said God was going to plan each day of Everett’s life. We find comfort in knowing the purpose the Lord ordained for him on earth is fulfilled. Everett is survived by his father Scott, his mother Melody, big brother Joel, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. We miss him deeply and look forward to the day we are reunited in eternity. “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well…Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” -Psalm 139:14, 16 Everett’s Celebration of Life will begin with a viewing at 10:30 am, followed by his memorial service at 11:30 am at White’s Funeral Home (404 E. Foothill Blvd., Azusa, California 91702). All are also welcome to join the family for his graveside service at 1:30 pm at Holy Cross Cemetery Pomona (444 E. Lexington Ave., Pomona, California 91766). Reception to follow (location TBD). We welcome flowers, particularly sunflowers in memory of the joy and light that Everett brought us. Joan M. Bowen - March 12, 1933 - June 15, 2022

Departed: 06/15/2022 (Azusa)
Obituary Preview: Joan Marie Bowen passed away peacefully on June 15, 2022, surrounded by her loving family, in her Glendora home of 61 years. She was 89 years old. Joan was born on March 12, 1933, to Lisle and Peg Sheedy. She and her younger brothers, Jim and Bill, were raised in Corning, New York. She attended Northside High School in Corning, before graduating as a registered nurse from The Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, New York. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. It was there that she met a young dental student named Warren Bowen. The rest, as they say, is history. Joan and Warren were married on July 7, 1956, in her hometown. After several years in Austin, Texas, where Warren served in the United States Air Force, Joan and Warren settled in Glendora, California in 1961, to raise their family of nine children. They were among the early families at St. Dorothy Catholic Church, where they were faithful parishioners for over 60 years. Joan was active in many parish ministries. She was instrumental in the founding of the Perpetual Adoration Chapel in 1993, and spent countless hours in her Lord’s company. In 1990, Joan was honored by Catholic Charities for her volunteer service, and in 2000, Pope John Paul II bestowed upon her the Papal Honor “Benemerenti” for her service and commitment to the Catholic Church. She always had a very special devotion to the Blessed Mother, who was her inspiration in raising her children. Her faith and her family were always at the center of her life, and she worked tirelessly in the service of others. Joan and Warren were devoted to each other for more than 62 years of marriage, and since his passing in 2018, she looked forward with joy to being reunited with him in Heaven. Joan was an avid sports fan. She loved her Los Angeles Dodgers and Notre Dame football, and she attended countless sporting events for her children and grandchildren. Joan is survived by her nine children, her sons- and daughters-in-law, 21 grandchildren and their families, including her first two great-grandchildren, due later this year, her brother, Bill, two sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. Joan’s life will be celebrated with a Rosary and Vigil Service on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 7:00 PM, followed by Mass on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 10:00 AM. Both services will be held at St. Dorothy Catholic Church, 241 S. Valley Center Ave., Glendora, CA 91741. A reception will follow the Mass in the adjacent Parish Center. The interment will be private. In honor of Joan’s life of service, donations may be made in her name to a charity of your choice dedicated to the service of others.

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It may also include information about their family, accomplishments, and any notable achievements.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to notify friends, family, and community members of a person's passing, allowing them to pay their respects and offer condolences. They also provide a sense of closure and help to celebrate the life of the deceased.

Who typically writes an obituary?

The responsibility of writing an obituary usually falls on the family members or close friends of the deceased. In some cases, a funeral home or mortuary may assist with writing the obituary.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service (if applicable), and surviving family members. It may also include hobbies, interests, achievements, and other personal details.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary, but it's generally recommended to keep it concise and to the point. Aim for around 150-200 words, depending on the publication's guidelines.

Where are obituaries typically published?

Obituaries are often published in local newspapers, online obituary websites, social media platforms, and funeral home websites. Some families may also choose to create a private online memorial or blog to share memories and stories about their loved one.

How much does it cost to publish an obituary?

The cost of publishing an obituary varies depending on the publication and the length of the notice. On average, expect to pay between $50 to $500 or more for a print or online obituary.

Can I write my own obituary?

Yes, it's becoming increasingly popular for people to write their own obituaries before they pass away. This allows them to have control over how they're remembered and can be a therapeutic exercise.

What's the difference between an obituary and a death notice?

A death notice is a brief announcement of someone's passing, usually including only basic information such as name, age, and date of death. An obituary is a longer, more detailed tribute that celebrates the person's life.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department directly to inquire about their submission process and guidelines. Be prepared to provide the necessary information and payment for publication.

What if I need to correct an error in an obituary?

If you discover an error in an already-published obituary, contact the publication immediately to report the mistake. They will work with you to correct the error as soon as possible.

Can I reuse an obituary from another source?

You may reuse an obituary from another source with permission from the original author or publication. Be sure to give proper credit and attribution when reusing someone else's work.

You can search online archives of newspapers, genealogy websites, or visit local libraries or historical societies to find old obituaries. Some websites specialize in archiving historic obituaries.

Can I write an anonymous obituary?

In general, it's not recommended to write an anonymous obituary. Obituaries are meant to be a public acknowledgment of someone's life and should include accurate information about the deceased.

What if I'm unsure about including certain information in an obituary?

If you're unsure about including sensitive or personal information in an obituary, consider consulting with family members or close friends of the deceased for guidance.

Can I include humor or lighthearted anecdotes in an obituary?

Absolutely! Obituaries don't have to be somber and serious. Including humorous stories or anecdotes can help celebrate the person's life and personality.

How do I handle conflicting opinions about what should be included in an obituary?

In cases where there are differing opinions among family members or friends, try to find common ground and prioritize accuracy over personal preferences. Remember that the goal is to honor the deceased person's memory.

Can I use social media to share an obituary?

Yes! Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn can be effective ways to share news of a loved one's passing and reach a wider audience.

Are there any specific etiquette rules for writing an obituary?

While there are no hard-and-fast rules, it's generally considered respectful to focus on celebrating the person's life rather than dwelling on negative aspects or controversies.

Can I include charitable donations or memorial information in an obituary?

Yes! Many families choose to include information about charitable donations or memorial funds in lieu of flowers. This can be a meaningful way to honor the deceased person's legacy.

How do I ensure that my loved one's legacy lives on through their obituary?

A well-written obituary can help preserve your loved one's memory by sharing their story with others. Consider creating a digital archive or scrapbook with photos, stories, and mementos to complement the obituary.
