Obituary Preview: Sylvia Louise Cotton, age 88 longtime Wright City, OK resident passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 in Broken Bow, OK. She was born on March 20, 1934 in Chickasha, OK, the daughter of Robert and Ethel (Scott) Rankins.
Sylvia worked in the Wright City School Cafeteria for many years. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed canning, quilting and gardening. Sylvia liked to hunt and also cook the fish her family caught on the river. She was a longtime member of the Wright City First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, helped put plays on, took kids to Church Camp and anything else she could do to help.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles E. Cotton; son, Charles L. Cotton; brothers, Eugene Rankins, Clyde Rankins, Eldon Rankins, Robert Rankins, Edmond Rankins, Blondie Rankins and James Rankins; sisters, Virgie Rankins and Lorena Lawrence.   Sylvia is survived by her sons, Mitchell Cotton and Valerie of Coyle, OK, David Cotton of Wright City, OK; daughters, Mary Mahon and Dale of Valliant, OK and Vicki Migliaccio and Dr. John of Idabel, OK; brother, Raymond Rankins and Kay of Broken Bow, OK; sisters; Doris Roberts and William of Wright City, OK and Yvonne Tidmore and Amon of Swink, OK; grandchildren, Eric Cotton, Ashley Delorme, Rebecca Carper, Kristie Cotton, Charlena Kennedy, Heather Cotton, Shawn Campbell, Jessica Evans and Sarah Flowers; several nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 18, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Wright City, OK with Bro. Aaron Strange and Bro. Jerry Speck officiating. Interment will follow at the Glover Cemetery.

Martha enjoyed embroidering in her spare time, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Martha was a longtime member of the Lynn Lane Church of Christ. She was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County.
She was preceded in death by her mother; Opal Johnson; husband, Henry W. Ingram in 1987; sons, Walter Wayne, Delmar Ray, William Hank Ingram; uncle, Victor Johnson and cousin, Della Jackson.
Martha is survived by her daughters, Ruth Ingram and husband, Robert DeMoss of Idabel, OK and Glenda Johnson of Idabel, OK; son-in-law, Charles Olive, Durant, OK; grandchildren, Kyle Caldwell, Ryan Caldwell, Jackie Caldwell Farley, Ashley Caldwell and Preston Stephens; great-grandchildren; Hannah, Austin, Stormy, Ayden; special friend, Fay Allison and other relatives and friends.

Betty Ruth Ramsey - August 28, 1941 - March 23, 2022

Obituary Preview: Betty Ruth Ramsey, age 80 passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at her home in Idabel, OK. She was born on August 28, 1941 in Sapulpa, OK, the daughter of William Riley Tidmore and Ruth Inez Faulkner Tidmore.
Betty was a woman of many talents. She worked many jobs and did not like being told what she could not do. She was a carpenter, welder, brick layer, hay baler, sign maker, musician, teacher and artist. She worked in the Court Clerk's office for 12 years prior to going back to college. After she received her bachelor's degree, she taught art at the Idabel Middle School. During that time, she received her Master's Degree in Education.
After retirement, she started traveling with the Museum of Red River and saw 21 different countries. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, singing in the choir at the Methodist Church in Idabel, OK and helping to provide ministry through music for the local nursing homes.
Betty Ramsey was a very talented artist and musician that enjoyed life to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester Ramsey; infant son, Anthony Lester; sisters, Martha Inez Tidmore, Glenda Ann Tidmore and her brother, Jimmy Dale Tidmore.
Betty is survived by her son, Wayne Provence and Sylvia of Valliant, OK; daughter, Robin Adams and Kurt of Hochatown, OK; grandchildren, Kerrie Beene and Allen, Cody Wood and Nikki, Scooter Provence and Jessica, Kasha Butler and Ryan, Sydney Provence, Joey Adams and Kyler Adams and Marisa; great-grandchildren; Raelyn Beene, Rayner Beene, Mikayia Wood, William Provence, Jett Provence and Lennox Butler; brothers, Billy Ray Tidmore of Franklin, TN and William Eugene “BooG” Tidmore of Seminole, OK; sister, June Bean of Valliant, OK; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and former students.

Virginia enjoyed quilting, going for car rides and eating ice cream. She was very close to her sisters and had their own table at the church known as the sister's table. Virginia was a longtime faithful member of the Bokchito Methodist Church and cared deeply for her church family and enjoyed worshipping with them. She loved her family and cherished time spent with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benjamin Franklin; daughters, Nawatha Baker and Connie Franklin; grandsons, Kevin Raymond and Gabriel Tonihka; granddaughter, Rendi Franklin, brothers, Silas Williston, John Williston, Angus Williston, Kenneth Williston, Ben Williston, LeRoy Williston, William Williston and James Williston; sisters, Aline Johnson and Estherline Anderson.

Willie was an avid fan of Tesla and a lifelong friend of Jeff Keith and his family. His father instilled a love of hunting and deer camp, and he enjoyed that as long as he was able. He was member of the K.B.I., and was a top earner for their Toys for Tots charity. Willie was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan. He loved nothing more than spending time with his friends and family. He will be missed by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Louis German.
Willie is survived by his brother Sam and Kathy German of Garvin, OK, as well as his daughters, April Jennings and husband, Earl Fredrick of Duncan, OK and Melissa Campana and husband, Tony of McAlester, OK; seven grandchildren, Courtney Jennings of Henryetta, OK, Amy Jennings of Henryetta, OK, Derrick Jennings of Henryetta, OK, Ashlynn Fredrick of Duncan, OK, Adalynn Fredrick of Duncan, OK, Samantha German of McAlester, OK, Dylan Reed of McAlester, OK; one great-grandchild, Kalum Smith of Henryetta, OK other relatives and friends.

Mary Ann began working at the Idabel National Bank in 1967 and retired in 1999. In her 32 years she served as a teller/cashier and was an assistant Vice-President. Prior to her banking career Mary Ann was a telephone operator.
She was a founding member of the ARK of McCurtain County. Her passion was taking care of and loving her animals. In her spare time, she enjoyed taking pictures.
Mary Ann had the most tender and good heart of anyone you have ever met. She was the ultimate friend and could be trusted with anything.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Phil Smith Jr. and Duane Smith; sisters, Wynona Valentine Smith, Barbara Jean Smith and Ellen Jane Wall.
Mary Ann is survived by her special friend, Vickie King of Idabel, OK; a daughter, Pam Youngblood, brother, Don Smith and Janie of Kerrville, TX; sister, Patsy Laskoski of Idabel, OK; her work family from Idabel National Bank; her Church family from Immanuel Baptist; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Claud Henry Jones Jr.; sisters, Earline “Sis” Hendrix and Evelyn “Lil” McCormick; husband, Kenneth Voss; children, Sherril Hobbs, Ricky Hobbs and Kenna Austin; a granddaughter, Stephanie “Ticka” Tetrault; and a great-grandson, Jeremiah Truette.
Geraldine is survived by her sister, Reba “Nez” Jones; a daughter, Carolyn Tetrault; grandchildren, Leesa Hobbs, Tanya Lozano, Kenneth Alden, Misty Mckillip, Ricky Hobbs and Chelsea Truett; many great-grandchildren; along with a large extended family and many friends.
Geraldine has fulfilled 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Marie married her husband Bob Lundy on August 30, 1959 in Jacksonville, FL and he preceded her in death in 2020.
Marie was a homemaker. She and Bob moved to Idabel in 1971 for him to work for the Valliant Paper Mill. While Bob worked at the mill Marie focused on raising their three daughters. Marie enjoyed camping and travelling with her family. She loved taking care of and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marie was a devout Christian and follower of Jesus Christ. She was a longtime member of the Grace Assembly Church where she was very active until her health declined.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Lundy; a daughter, Donna Reeves; and a sister Elouise Cappabianca.
Marie is survived by her daughters, Lisa Lundy of Battiest, OK, Terri Mosier of Idabel, OK and Susan Mandy Brown of Maysville, MO; sisters, Mattie Gainley and Mary Stepp; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Obituary Preview: Tanya Chanta’ Moran, age 49 lifetime resident of Idabel, OK passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at in Pawhuska, OK. She was born on August 15, 1972 in Longview, TX, the daughter of Phillip Gilbert and Becky Kitchings Gilbert Brock.
Chanta was a homemaker and a very strong independent lady. Her life was full of challenges and she met them head on and accomplished many of the goals she set forth for herself. Chanta’ never gave up, she sometimes just found a different path. She loved people, never met a stranger and cherished time spent with her family. Her greatest joy was serving as a pink lady every Thursday at McCurtain Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed crocheting on Fridays with the “Happy Hookers” and playing bingo at the Idabel Public Library.
Chanta’ always had a positive attitude and a smile for everyone. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Phillip Gilbert; maternal grandparents, Mitchell and Irene Kitchings; paternal grandparents, Jake and Louise Gilbert; aunt, Linda Coleman; sister-in-law, Amanda Moran and nephew, Jake McLain.   Chanta’ is survived by her husband, Adam N. Austin Battiest - May 24, 1946 - February 24, 2022

Obituary Preview: Austin Battiest, age 75 passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at his home in Broken Bow, OK. He was born on May 24, 1946, the son of James and Elsie Battiest. Austin married Barbara Winship in Clarksville, TX on December 23, 1969.
Austin was a veteran serving in both the US Army and US Navy. He was an electrician at DOMTAR for many years before retiring in 2009. He enjoyed hunting and coaching  little league baseball and soccer in his younger years. Austin was a former president of the Broken Bow Quarterback Club, member of the Broken Bow City Park Committee and the Weyerhaeuser Foundation and also was instrumental in getting the County Wide Dumpster Program implemented.
Austin was a minster of the Gospel in the OK Indian Missionary Conference, serving as pastor at the Choctaw Academy in Rufe, Bethel Hill in Battiest and Bokchito Methodist in Idabel. Served as Director of Recruitment and Enlistment and was the SE Youth Coordinator for many years. He did missionary work for 25 years helping to build and remodel churches, fellowship halls and parsonages.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Andrea Battiest; brothers, Joe Freeman Battiest and Virgil Battiest; and a sister-in-law, Delores Battiest.
Austin is survived by his wife, Barbara Battiest of Broken Bow, OK; a son, Ed Ryan Battiest of Moore, OK; granddaughter, Morgan Battiest of Goldsby, OK; sister, Eveline Steele and Dale of Broken Bow, OK; several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Obituary Preview: Ellen R. Pearson born to James Fredrick and Minnie Camille Bond Rone on September 6, 1916 in Ethel, MS. She passed away on February 24, 2022 in Broken Bow, OK. She was born in Ethel, MS and moved in the winter of 1921 to Shults, OK. She then lived in Forest Grove for two to three years and moved to Smithville, OK in approximately 1925 where she attended Folsom Training School in the Smithville area. She married Frank Pearson on May 1, 1949 in Buckner, AR who preceded her in death on February 19, 1956.
Ms. Ellen was Miss Centennial for Idabel, OK in 2002. A very successful business woman, having a Beauty Shop and then a large Gift Store for years in the Jumper Shopping Center. Later she became known as “The Bread Lady” making sourdough bread, which she sold and gave to bereaved families and others in need.
She was active in the First United Methodist Church for many years, until she could not attend due to her health. Ms. Ellen always had a smile for everyone.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jesse Rone, Donald Rone, Gordon Rone, Allen Rone, Hugh Rone, Nash Rone and John Rone; sisters, Laura Rone Hendricks, Laverne Rone Van Dyke, Mildred Rone Martin and Marie Rone; nieces and nephews, Flint Hendricks, Mike Hendricks, Stephen Rone, Myra Hebert and Butch Martin.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews; Luella Riessland, Susan Riley, Paul T. VanDyke, Clifford, Aretta and Fredrick Rone, Camilla Riley, Myrna Brooks, Eleanor Jones, Nancy Johnson, Linda Haddon, Connie Sanders; a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends along with she was Godmother to Brad and Edgar Ramsey and all were loved by Aunt Ellen. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Idabel, OK, with Rev. Mark Polson officiating. Interment will follow at the Denison Cemetery. He was born August 29, 1947 in Haworth, Oklahoma, the son of William Victor Farley and Donnie Virginia Stout. He married Shirley Ann Ryan, his wife of 56 years in Redland, Oklahoma on May 28, 1966.  William Don attended and graduated from Haworth schools in 1965. He also went to school in 38 different states due to his father working the pipe line. He moved to Tuttle, Oklahoma in 1968 where he raised two children, Gregory Don Farley of Haworth, Oklahoma and Anngela Kay Whittington of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Upon retirement in 1995 he returned to Redland/ Goodwater area. William Don worked in the Oil field where he was a welder then became a construction superintendent and was self employed throughout his years. He wasn’t afraid to try something new and loved his work. He traveled from Maine to Florida to Alaska while working. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Victor and Donnie Virginia, his brother Wesley Farley. William Don loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved sharing stories with them and always enjoyed hearing from them. William Don is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann of the home; children Greg Farley & Elaine Fischer of Haworth, Oklahoma and Anngela Whittington & Daniel Kim of Oklahoma City, OK; brother Jimmy Wayne & Barbara Farley of Broken Bow, Ok; sister Brenda Ann & Roger Cox of Dekalb, Texas. One uncle, John Paul & Naomi Farley of Idabel, OK. Six grandchildren; Jeffrey Whittington, Andrew Whittington, Nicolas Whittington, Grayson Dries, Steffen & Breahleigh Farley. Four Greatgrandkids; Malakai, Kynlee, Maverick & Penelope as well numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. He will be missed by many and remembered for his uncanny memory and his great story telling. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, February 28, 2022 at White Family Funeral Home in Idabel, OK.  A celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the Redland United Methodist fellowship hall with his life long friend, Kenneth Farley officiating. Jimmy served in the Army National Guard, received a marksmanship badge and was honorably discharged after six years of dedicated service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, walking his dog and working in his garden. Jimmy spent a lot of his time volunteering with his church in many different organizations. He lived most of his life in Idabel and was a member of the Haworth Church of Christ. Jimmy was passionate about the Bible and read his Bible daily.
Jimmy loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with a passion. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roe and Pearl Lambert and his sister, Gail Mattingly.

Jackie married Francis Allen on July 14, 1968, which would be 54 years happily married. Jackie was a devoted wife, mother, memaw, and friend to many.
Jackie worked many years in Home Health and Hospice as a certified Home Health aide, taking exceptional care of all her patients here in McCurtain County. She was a wonderful memaw to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, all 11 of them. She loved spoiling them rotten. Never saying no to sweets, but sending them home for mom and dad to wrangle with them. In her younger years, she really enjoyed horseback riding, visiting Beavers Bend, and listening to music at revivals. She had a one in a million personality and always spoke what was on her mind (good or bad for that matter). She was the rock of the family that everyone came to when they just needed someone to talk to.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Mitchell and Johnnie Marie Magby, siblings Sandra Ragsdill, Allan Mitchell, Larry Mitchell.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Francis Allen; children, Davey & Tasha Allen of Clarksville, TX, Rex & Misty Donaldson of Valliant, OK, Tiffany Hames of Valliant, OK; grandchildren, DJ & Brittany Billy, Dallas & Dylan Donaldson, James “Buckshot” Fulton, Kameron Allen, Dustin and Kaylee Hames; great-grandchildren, Kaedynce, Kristian, Kanyin & Kyzer Billy; many special nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was proceeded in death her husband Murray Mills, two sons, Michael and Joel Mills, her parents and all of her brothers and sisters. As we all know, Memaw had many “Pearls of Wisdom”. One which comes to mind is “You have the same shoes to great glad in” SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT SERVICES:
Doris Mills’ son Joel Mills preceded her in death on Saturday October 9, 2021. Due to Covid-19 restrictions we were not able to have a funeral for Joel at the time of his death. Therefore, Doris Mills’ funeral will be a combined funeral and memorial service for her and her son Joel. Their combined family night for Doris and her son Joel will be at the White Family Funeral Home at 3 N.E. 3rd St., Idabel, OK 74745 on Thursday, February 17th 2022, from 6pm to 8pm under the direction of David White. Doris Mills’ funeral and Joel Mills Memorial Service will be a combined service on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 10am at “THE CHURCH” 13891 W US Highway 70 Garvin, OK 74736. Pastor Brent Coffee and Zachary and Sydney Naylor will be Officiating.
