Obituary Preview: Devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, Doris Jean (Vest) Powell, born July 24, 1932, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, departed peacefully to her heavenly promise, May 15, 2024, in Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by loving husband, William James Powell, twin sons, Steven and Stephan Powell; parents Harold and Alvina (Hilsmier) Vest; brother, Harold Thomas Vest, Jr. (Irmgard); sisters Helen Louise Bojrab (Shuckery), Marie Johnson (Nils), Thelma McCallister (Bud), and granddaughter, Rebekah Jean Parker. She is survived by sons, William David Powell (Roberta) of Punta Gorda, FL, James Thomas Powell (Jan) of Gulfport, MS; daughters, Kathi Louise Parker (Jim) of Wheatland, WY, Kristi Marie Risk (David) of Spencer, IN. Her heritage currently includes 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Doris was a licensed practical nurse at Community East Hospital, Indianapolis. Throughout her nursing career as a neurological nurse, Doris played an instrumental role in bringing compassion and joy into the lives of those she touched. Her compassion and expertise were evident with every person she cared for as she treated her patients like family members. Countless families were blessed to have her care for their loved ones. Her interests included crocheting, knitting, oil painting, gardening, tending her plants and flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Palestine for 31 years and currently of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellettsville for 20 years. She loved her Lord Jesus, family, and friends deeply. Doris last advice for all reading is to share the peace that comes when one has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; that passing from this earth to the next is a beautiful opportunity to live eternally with a Father (John 3:16) who loves unconditionally by trusting in Jesus Christ as savior. (John 14:6; Acts 4:12)
Showing will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, Saturday, May 18th, from 11:00am until 1:00pm. The funeral will follow at 1:00pm.
Immediately following the service, Doris will be transported to Zion Lutheran Church in New Palestine for a committal service at 3:00pm.

Tereasa was born in Bloomington, Indiana on January 8, 1953 to Clifford and Olive Alene "Ooley" Ridgway. She graduated from Spencer High School and married Steven Robertson in Spencer, Indiana on June 3, 1978. Tereasa retired from Boston Scientific in Spencer, Indiana. She was a member of the Spencer Moose Lodge and the V.F.W. in Spencer. She enjoyed spending time with her family and gambling.
Tereasa is survived by her loving children; Joy Lynn Holmes, Stephanie Alene (Shane) Freeman, Steven R. (Kristy) Robertson, and Toni Nicole (Billy) Showecker; grandchildren; Cody Holmes, Christian (Amanda) Williams, Amber Williams, Dustin (Emma) Freeman, MaKayla Freeman, David Freeman, Lilly Freeman, Clifford Freeman, Mia Freeman, Lyla Freeman, Allie Freeman, Keaton (Allie) Robertson, Keaunah Robertson, Kaiden Robertson, Monica Showecker, and Billie Jo Showecker; great-grandchildren; Vincent Holmes, Camryn Holmes, Declan Williams, Paisley Williams, Briar Tyner, Whitley Freeman, MaKayleigh Freeman, Nellie Freeman and Dustie Freeman; sisters; Brenda Maegerlein and Sharron (Mike) Barger.

Funeral services for Tereasa will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, 105 N. Montgomery Street, Spencer, IN 47460.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 from 4 p.m. till 8 p.m. and Saturday at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, Indiana.

Daniel "Greg" Gregory Raymond - November 23, 1954 - May 04, 2024

Obituary Preview: Daniel Gregory "Greg" Raymond of Spencer, Indiana passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at home with his family by his side. He was 69 years old. Greg was born on November 23, 1954 in Corona, California to Daniel Lee Raymond and Leora Mae (Brown) Raymond. He grew up in California before moving to Alaska. Upon graduating from Chugiak High School in Chugiak, Alaska in 1972, he joined the U.S. Army. He met and married Jan (Trader) Raymond in Alaska and they were married on October 13, 1975.
Greg served his country faithfully for 8 years, stationed in Fort Polk, LA, Fort Richardson, AK, Colman Barracks in Manheim, Germany (Where he and Jan welcomed daughter Jennie in 1976), and Fort Hood, TX. After his service was completed, Greg, Jan and Jennie moved to Milwaukee, Oregon, where their son Michael was born in 1984. Greg graduated Clackamas Community College in Oregon with a degree in drafting before moving back to Jan's hometown in Spencer, Indiana in 1986. Here Greg worked for Cook Polymer until his retirement. He also spent many dedicated years as an Advanced EMT for Owen County EMS and a volunteer firefighter for the Franklin Township Fire Department.
Greg lived life to the fullest. He had a wicked sense of humor, loved inappropriate jokes, loud music, and anything considered dangerous or risky. At the same time, he had a soft heart for animals and many would say he loved them more than most people! Greg was a proud, patriotic veteran and loved living in the land of the free.
Greg is survived by wife, Jan, daughter, Jennie, son, Michael, and grandchildren, which he lovingly referred to as his "Posse"; Blake Ludwig, Macie Raymond-Schelfo, Charlotte Schelfo, and Bristol Raymond-Stierwalt, all of Spencer, Indiana. He is also survived by sister, Robin Miller of Oregon and cousins, Doug (Terry) Brown of Oregon, Karen (Chris) Tobin of Oregon, an aunt Rosalie Brown of Oregon, and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Greg was preceded in death by both parents, his in-laws, Perry and Jennie Trader, nephew, Kent Trader, niece, Crystal Miller, cousin Cathy Brown, sister in-laws, Debbie Jacobs, Linda Trader and brother in law Morris Pegg.

She was a wonderful homemaker who took pride in raising her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved all animals but she especially loved horses which was fitting that she passed on Kentucky Derby Day.
Janet is survived by her loving daughter, Donna (Paul) Moline of Crown Point, IN; brother, Rodger (Linda Mauder) Minks; granddaughter, Charissa (Jeremy) Bush; grandson, Michael Miller; great granddaughters, Caedence Bush and Peyton Bush; great grandsons, Hayden Miller and Bryson Bush; step grandson, Ryan (Elyse) Moline and their children, Cameron and Lily as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, James J. Ward, Robert Payton and Charles Mayrose as well as her brothers, James Minks and Robert Minks.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer on Thursday, May 9, 2024. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Owen County Humane Society through the funeral home.

She was born in Amite City, Louisiana on December 5, 1922 to Frank and Lucy "Davis" Wheeler. She was married to Clarence Dale Fortner for 60 years. Amy held various clerical positions at the Indiana University Libraries, retiring as Senior Library Assistant. She was a member of the Spencer Church of Christ.
Amy is survived by her children; John D. (Janet) Fortner of Foley Alabama, Linda J. Fortner of Bloomington, Indiana, and Kevin A. (Jeanne) Fortner of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren; Joshua John Fortner of Strawberry, Arkansas and Michael J.A. Fortner of Arlington Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence Dale Fortner in 2006; and brother Lloyd Wheeler.
A memorial service for Amy will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. at the Spencer Church of Christ, 702 E. Morgan Street, Spencer IN, 47460. Obituary Preview: Robert "Bob" Dean Thomas, 77, of Spencer, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at his residence. Bob was born on January 7, 1947 in Lebanon, Indiana to Herbert Wesp Thomas and Mildred Louise (Dean) Thomas. Bob spent many happy years in the Boy Scouts, mentored by his father. He amassed many badges, and achieved The Order of The Arrow as well as Eagle Scout. He graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science, as well as a love for chemistry and physics. He eventually entered the paint industry, working for companies such as PPG and MAB Paints, as a paint chemist.
From developing computer programs for the paint industry, he went on to develop software for companies such as CompuServe and Qualcomm. Along the way he achieved his Glider Pilot License. He developed a love of flying and with his love of adventure, Bob traveled to all 50 states. His joy for life, family and friends was evident in his bright smile, quick wit and youthful attitude.
Bob is survived by his fiance, Sharon F. Steiner, son, Andrew "Andy" Thomas, daughter, Jennifer "Jen" (Bryan) Brockson, grandchildren, Chloe, Emily, Graham and Liam, and many extended family members and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Elizabeth Carrington.
A Celebration of life will take place from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, 105 North Montgomery Street, Spencer. A sharing of memories will take place at 3:00 PM.

Obituary Preview: Jeremiah D. Long, age 48, of Coal City, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Indianapolis on February 24, 1976, the son of John and Cynthia (Fahnestock) Long.
Jeremiah was a 1995 graduate of Warren Central High School in Indianapolis and received his Associate of Applied Science in Apprenticeship Technology: Millwright from Ivy Tech in Indianapolis. He worked throughout the years as a car salesman, electrician, and diesel mechanic. He was a union millwright with Local #1076.
Jeremiah was a man of great faith as a faithful Christian. He loved being a father, the outdoors, hunting, fishing and boating, owning and shooting guns, playing sports in his younger years, coaching/watching his littles play their sports, racing, and rebuilding vehicles and engines.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 10 years, Samantha L. (Arms) Long; his parents; six children, J.D. Long, Wyatt Long, Savannah Flener, Rylan Sheeley, Sampson Long, and Maximus Long; three grandchildren, Kinley, Willow, and Zebulun; a brother, Jared Long; two sisters, Jessica Thompson and Julianna McDaniel; his mother-in-law, Mary Arms; brother-in-law, Scott Arms; and many other family members.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Janice (Jack) Paul and David Fahnestock; paternal grandparents, Virginia and William Pearson; and father-in-law, Jimmy Arms.

He was born in Muncie, Indiana on June 10, 1940 to Marion and Margaret (Lee) Snyder. Truman graduated from Patricksburg High School in 1958 where enjoyed playing center for the basketball team. Truman married the love of his life, Naomi (Bault) Snyder on November 4, 1959. He attended Indiana Central University in Indianapolis obtaining his bachelors degree in Business Administration and Accounting. In earlier years, he coached basketball at Indiana Baptist College in Indianapolis.
Throughout the years, Truman worked as an Accountant and CPA at Linde, a division of Union Carbide in Indianapolis, Panosote in Seymour, and retired as a controller for Oliver Rubber in Ashboro, North Carolina. After retirement, Truman kept busy working at Tot Hill Farms Golf Course and obtained his realtors license in North Carolina. He and Naomi enjoyed traveling across the United States in their RV. After returning to Indiana, he worked at the Bloomington Antique Mall as well as Dottie''s Refuge with his wife Naomi.
Truman was a member of Lifeway Baptist Church in Ellettsville, Indiana, where he served many years as a Deacon and a Trustee. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing all sports.
