Obituary Preview: A Journey Well Traveled EURAL CORNELIUS LANG, JR. “ONION” Arrival - April 9, 1948 Departure - March 11, 2024
Eural, the third child of eleven children, born to the late Rev. Eural C. Lang, Sr. and Mary Ida Lang, began his journey April 9, 1948 and reached his destination March 11, 2024. Known as “Onion” and “Coach” was a native Mobilian, a proud product of Roger Williams Projects, Toulminville Community and Central High School Class of 1966.
The honing of his basketball skills as a Central High Wildcat provided scholarship opportunities to attend Pensacola State Junior College, Selma Junior College and South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, S.C. where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. In 1969, he met Betty Daniels, the love of his life, and a relationship began that lasted 55 years. They married and to their union two sons were born.
Eural was a thirty-year retiree of the Mobile County Public School System with teaching positions at Theodore High School, Baker Middle School and Vigor High School. Bishop College which provided 500 children daily with meals, health services, academic tutoring and skill instruction in six sports.
Always a champion of children and a father figure to many, the backyard dirt basketball court was a haven for boys and girls where he gave advice, taught respect and discipline. The regular players were quick to tell new comers “No cursing” and “No dunking” in this yard because Mr. Lang does not play that. A music and sports enthusiast, Eural shared his wide range of knowledge with family, former students, players and all who knew him.
He joined El Bethel under the pastorage of Rev. Dr. Jonathan L. Yates. He attended church faithfully and served in the Laymen Brotherhood and K.I.D.S. Church Ministry, as an avid “silent” supporter.
Adhering to 1 Corinthians 12:8, Eural provided wisdom and knowledge to his devoted wife; two dedicated sons, Antonio Maurice (Lekeshia) Lang, Sr. and Andre’ Jamaal Lang, Sr.; six loving grandchildren, Antonio “TJ”, Alan Michael, Jordyn Nicole, Jazmyn Katie, Jaedyn Rushell and Andre’, Jr.; one great grand, Amarah Rose (Danielle Walter, mother); Daughter-in-Law, Joycelyn “Joy” Lang.

Arington Antonio Rodriguez - July 26, 1983 - January 31, 2024

Departed: 01/31/2024 (Mobile)
Obituary Preview: Arington Antonio Rodriguez, age 40, born on July 26, 1983, in Mobile, AL; left this earth entirely too soon on January 31, 2024, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL. Arington was an original, unique, fun-loving soul from the very beginning. You rarely saw him without a smile on his face, some may call it a mischievous, playful, slightly wicked grin; but whatever it was, it didn't change the light he carried with him. He could pick you up when you were down. Being in a bad mood around him was impossible. His sense of humor and laid-back persona definitely affected everyone around him.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Simon and Claudina Rodriguez; maternal grandfather, Antonio Mauricio; and his uncle/godfather, Luis Ibarra.
Bebe, lovingly called by his family and friends, always put his family above everything. It was the most important thing in his life. He loved nothing more, except, well...wait...I forgot about…ok, family was very important, but maybe second, an incredibly close second, but second, only to Fulham's Own Professional English Premier League's Chelsea Football Club. HE WAS THEIR #1 FAN.
A lover of the outdoors, he genuinely loved being outside enjoying nature. He was adventurous, and by adventurous, I mean crazy, adventurous/crazy enough to hunt/wrestle LIVE alligators/crocodiles adventurous/crazy. He lived life to the fullest. He lived more life during his 40 short years than most 75+ year-olds have.
Bebe wasn't all big and bad, rough and tough. He was just as gentle, loving, and kind. He celebrated National Dog Day every day, not just yearly. Ask his Maltese fur-baby, Dottie, AKA Falcor (Fans of The Neverending Story get it), if ever there was a spoiled canine, she's the one.
Arington was a loud and proud Disney Adult. A Disney adult is known as an adult who loves Disney as much as kids do, actually, maybe even more than kids do. He was a card-carrying member of the DISNEY WORLD ANNUAL PASS CLUB. He visited the theme park so often, why wouldn't he?!? He loved hard. If he loved you, you knew he loved you. It didn't matter to him where you came from, what your job was, how much money you had...heck...he didn't even care what species you were, Xenomorph (Alien) or Yautja (Predator), it didn't matter to him, he loved you just the same.
He is survived by his maternal grandmother, "Ma Chelita," Rosa Mauricio; his mama, Vilma Rodriguez; his papa, Arington Rodriguez; sister, Leslie Rodriguez; niece and nephew, Alexia and Alexander Andry; aunts and uncles, Roger Quesada, Jamie Mauricio, Antonio Mauricio, and Maritza Risco; aunt/godmother, Hortencia Ibarra; numerous cousins, Roger, Roxana, Gisselle, Jennifer, Ruben, Melissa, Brandy, Erika, Elizabeth, Adriana, Jamie Jr, Katie, Roger Jr., Erick, and Michael; numerous other family members and close friends, including his lifelong friend and brother, Jon Delburn, and his special friend, Drew Hairgrove. Arington was a phenomenal son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. For those of us left behind, goodbye is going to be incredibly difficult. It will never be the same for us without him here. Life won't be as lively, songs won't feel as poetic, the sun won't shine as bright, and the birds won't sound as sweet. Being lucky enough to have known him and been able to share even a tiny part of his life is well worth the pain, we wouldn’t trade it for anything; so instead of goodbye, let's just say, see you later! We know it will only be a matter of time until we are reunited, we will see him again one day. Knowing him, he just had to beat us all to it, he had to be the first one to go ahead and scope the place out. So, until then, See you later, Bebe!
Visitation will be held on February 17, 2024, from noon until the 1 pm Mass of Christian Burial at Small's Mortuary West, 3809 Moffett Rd., Mobile, AL 36618.
