A retired librarian, she was born on September 29, 1944 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Leroy Anderson and Willa Dean Anderson (Morris).  She attended Pittsburgh Public Schools and went on to attend Mount Mercy College in Pittsburgh (Carlow University) and graduated with a degree in music education. She was raised in Macedonia Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.
She is survived by her twin daughters, Leah Dean Fleming and Dana Jean Fleming, son Samuel Eden Fleming, three granddaughters,  sister of heart, Lana Jean Jemison and a host of cousins and many others who are forever blessed by her time on this earth.
