He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Michael Seivert; and two sisters, Susan Hayward and Martha Edminster.John served in the U.S. Army and then worked for Caterpillar for over 30 years when he retired. He was a member of the Chillicothe First United Methodist Church, was an avid Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals fan, and he enjoyed golfing, fishing and working in the yard.Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 11am at the Chillicothe First United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 9am. Rev. Ron Martz will officiate. Burial of ashes will follow at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials in John’s name may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.

She married John O. Landsverk on June 3, 1972 in Solon Springs, WI.Surviving are her husband of 51 years, John; her children, Garth (Kerry) Landsverk of Chillicothe, IL, Brandon Landsverk of Williamsville, IL and Mardee (Jeremy) DeVault of Chillicothe, IL; seven grandchildren; five nieces and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Jane Salyards.Carole graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Superior with her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Sociology and was a technician working with adolescence at Zeller Mental Health in Peoria. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Chillicothe and was an avid baseball fan, especially her Atlanta Braves. She even participated in the church’s Fantasy Baseball League. Family was also important to Carole and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.Services will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 10am at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Chillicothe. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 5pm to 7pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Rev. John Sipf will be officiating. She married Larry Borton in East Peoria. She later married Andrew A. Gusman on September 27, 1986 in Chillicothe.Surviving are her husband, Andy; her son, Mark (Amy Boesen) Borton of Elk River, MN; her son-in-law, Severo Garcia of Maple Grove, MN; her stepsons, Joseph (Jennifer) Albright of Germantown Hills, IL, Robert (Cara Encinas) Gusman of Chillicothe, IL and Patrick Gusman of Chillicothe, IL; 12 grandchildren, Kennedy Borton, Landon Borton, Andrew Brinker, Meghan Sneed, Cody Albright, Seth Albright, Chris Everett, Annie Albright, Maddie Albright, Peter Albright, April Gusman, and Nathan Gusman; 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is Debbie Mullen, who was like a daughter to Teresa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Melina Garcia; one sister and eight brothers. Teresa, along with her husband Andy, were instrumental in founding the Mexican American Society in Chillicothe. She was very proud of her Mexican heritage and loved her family very much.In her early career, Teresa drove a school bus for IVC. She then barbered for many years before retiring from Angie’s Barber Shop after 26 years. She was a devout member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe. Teresa enjoyed gardening, especially her flower gardens, and crocheting. She loved planning and hosting their famous Summer Parties and listening to live music. Dancing was her other love, and over the years, Teresa and Andy entertained us all with their exceptional dancing skills. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 11am at St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe with visitation held one hour prior. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 4pm to 7pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Fr. Martin Mwongyera will officiate. Burial will follow at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Stanley was born on September 21, 1942 in Peoria, IL to John and Clara White. He married Eva Coates on June 1, 1963 in Peoria, IL. Already preceding him in Heaven are his lovely wife of 54 years, Eva; his parents; one great-grandchild; his sister, Joanne Hanson; and his infant brother.Surviving are his daughters, Audrey (Craig) Woolley of Henry, IL, Cheryl (Mike) Singleton of Varna, IL, Michelle “Missy” Best of Chillicothe, IL and Jeanette (Tom) Stong of Cocoa, FL; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Stanley became an electrician and worked for Central Illinois Light Company for over 35 years when he retired. He was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria, serving as an usher and was active with the Boys Brigade and Men’s Work Group. For the past three years, he attended Fellowship Bible Church in Peoria and was dearly loved and cared for by both congregations. Stanley loved gardening and woodworking. He built many small wood barns and other wood crafts over the years. What he loved most, was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 1pm at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. (Allison) Borop, Micah (Ellen) Borop, Bailey Daum, Braden Daum, Emma Borop and Austin J. Borop and two great-grandchildren, Cora Borop and Sawyer Scribner. After he retired, he enjoyed helping the kids with the Spring Planting at Three Sister’s Park. He was a very active member of the Chillicothe First United Methodist Church, serving in the choir and hand bell choir. One year, Ed was asked and really enjoyed singing in the quartet for the Chillicothe Summer Theatre’s production of The Music Man. Family was important to Ed and he was very active in the children’s and grandchildren’s activities.Service will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 2pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe visitation held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. He married Nancy Lee Peters on May 29, 1965 in Peoria, IL. She preceded him in death on July 22, 2022. Also preceding him in death are his parents and siblings, Seward, Frank, Alonzo and August Hoffman, and June Smith and Juanita Murphy.Surviving are his sons, Don (Sue) Hoffman of Chillicothe, IL and Loren (Traci) Hoffman of Jamestown, IN; five grandchildren, Tyler, Lindsey, Logan, Mackenzie and Jordan; his siblings, Liz Plate, May Schoenbein, Colaya Redell, and Ray, Nick, Rob, Roger Lew (Linda) and Paul (Dee) Hoffman; his brother-in-law, Greg Murphy; his sister-in-laws, Lillian and Sylvia Hoffman; and many, many nieces and nephews.Loren worked for Caterpillar for 30 years, before he retired. He was a proud member of the UAW Local #974 and the Chillicothe First United Methodist Church in Chillicothe. Loren’s greatest love was his wife, Nancy. They spent many trips going to Wisconsin, where they enjoyed traveling through the country filled with beautiful barns. Loren was a true country life man at heart. Loren’s love of ice cream was a short second to his love of wife and family. A self-made DIY-er and woodworker, Loren could always be found fixing or making things. Loren enjoyed drives in his 1956 Chevrolet and passed that love of vintage cars onto his family. Loren never met a stranger and always greeted everyone with a beaming smile. His infectious smile will be greatly missed. Services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 2pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe with visitation beginning at 12pm. Rev. Ron Martz will officiate. Burial will be at Lawn Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Transitions Hospice.
Loren L. Hoffman, age 78, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Manor Court of Peoria surrounded by his family.
Loren was born on February 5, 1946 in Peoria, Illinois to August and Leila (Bohanon) Hoffman. He married Nancy Lee Peters on May 29, 1965 in Peoria, IL. She preceded him in death on July 22, 2022. Also preceding him in death are his parents and siblings, Seward, Frank, Alonzo and August Hoffman, and June Smith and Juanita Murphy.
Surviving are his sons, Don (Sue) Hoffman of Chillicothe, IL and Loren (Traci) Hoffman of Jamestown, IN; five grandchildren, Tyler, Lindsey, Logan, Mackenzie and Jordan; his siblings, Liz Plate, May Schoenbein, Colaya Redell, and Ray, Nick, Rob, Roger Lew (Linda) and Paul (Dee) Hoffman; his brother-in-law, Greg Murphy; his sister-in-laws, Lillian and Sylvia Hoffman; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Loren worked for Caterpillar for 30 years, before he retired. He was a proud member of the UAW Local #974 and the Chillicothe First United Methodist Church in Chillicothe. Loren’s greatest love was his wife, Nancy. They spent many trips going to Wisconsin, where they enjoyed traveling through the country filled with beautiful barns. Loren was a true country life man at heart. Loren’s love of ice cream was a short second to his love of wife and family. A self-made DIY-er and woodworker, Loren could always be found fixing or making things. Loren enjoyed drives in his 1956 Chevrolet and passed that love of vintage cars onto his family.
Loren never met a stranger and always greeted everyone with a beaming smile. His infectious smile will be greatly missed.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 2pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe with visitation beginning at 12pm. Rev. Ron Martz will officiate. Burial will be at Lawn Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Transitions Hospice.

Charlotte loved to collect irons and trivets. Bill and Char would drive all over the countryside going to flee markets, antique stores and Iron meets. She was a women who always was noticing the color and texture to art, clothing and nature. She painted several pieces which are loved by her family.Charlotte was an active member, serving for many years, of the Midwest Sad Iron Collectors Club and of Chillicothe Chamber of Commerce.Charlotte lived at Heritage Care Center for close to 10 years, and was deeply loved by the staff. Chuck graduated from Galva High School in 1944 before serving as 1st Sergeant in the 11th Airborne Division of the 187th Parachute Infantry of the U.S. Army during World War II.Chuck met the love of his life, Mary M. Huber, during their senior year of high school. Their first date was ice skating at Lake Calhoun in Lafayette. When Mary came out with her skates over her shoulder, Chuck thought to himself, “How did I get so lucky?” While Chuck was in the service, Mary took private instruction to join the Catholic Church and when he returned home, they married on December 5, 1946 at St. John Catholic Church in Galva, IL. They were married 71 years when she passed away on November 11, 2018. Virginia was born on June 13, 1926 in Maysville, MO to James W and Janie Brissey Allen. She married Carl N. Gill on July 24, 1945 in Chillicothe, IL. He passed away on April 9, 2009.
Surviving is one son, Gary Gill of Chillicothe, IL; two twin granddaughters, Kristie Gill of Seattle, WA; Michelle (Mike) Huschen of Roanoke; and two great grandchildren, Logan Huschen of Benson and Jordan Huschen of Roanoke.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her sweet loving daughter, Susan Kelly, one brother, J.W. Allen, and two sisters, Dorothy Lowey and Mary Louise King.
During WWII, Virginia was Rosie the Riveter producing boats for the military in Seneca, IL. She then worked at Princess Peggy in Chillicothe with her sister-in-law Velma before having children. When Gary was a freshman in High School Virginia worked in the school cafeteria. After her years at the school, she began working as a label inspector at International Paper in Peoria where she retired from.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chillicothe where memorial services will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 14. Rev. Ron Martz will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:00 pm prior to the services at the church. Per her wishes Virginia will be cremated with the cremains buried in the Chillicothe Cemetery. Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe is assisting the family with arrangements.

Steve was a roofer with Reny Brothers Roofing in Chillicothe for many years. He was a member of the Peoria Casting Club in Chillicothe. Steve enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, watching the sunset and going to the Chillicothe Paintball Pits.
Services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 1pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe with visitation beginning at 11am.
