Obituary Preview: Patricia (Patsy) Wilson (86) received her call to heaven on April 13, 2024. She was born on April 3, 1938, the daughter of Charles and Ethel May. She made her goal of making it to the age of 86, ten days before her passing. She was affectionately known by her siblings and friends as Tater. A nickname her father gave her, his Irish Lemon.
Patsy married Albert Wilson on June 29, 1957, and they made their home in Crandon, WI for her entire life. Albert preceded her in death on January 7, 2006. During their retirement, they enjoyed many years of fishing, camping, and working on and building their cabin, which they passed onto their children. Patsy was a joyful woman who cherished time with her family and a wide circle of friends; everyone she met was considered a friend.
During her tenure at Twist Drill spanning over 20 years, she lovingly raised her 9 children. Patsy also enjoyed lively outings to Bingo and the casino with her kids and then with her dear friend Archie Reid, who became a cherished part of her extended family.
Mom looked forward to her daily video chat sessions with her daughters, relishing their shared laughter over even the silliest things. Often saying, “you know, everyone has to laugh over the darndest things”. With her sons, she loved to exchange tall tales, adding her own unique embellishments. Patsy's mischievous spirit and zest for life were contagious, and she lived every moment to the fullest.
Some of her greatest enjoyments were her annual 4th of July party and Friday night card games with her kids, sisters and brothers and any friend that wanted to join. She delighted in her 18 grandchildren and 15great-grandchildren including baby Wilson due in August, each of whom, she proudly claimed, had "Grandma Patsy's nose." Patsy is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Wilson, son William Wilson, and granddaughter Lianna Thomas. She is also preceded by her parents and siblings Charlene Tupper, Jack May, baby brothers John and Alfred May and her brothers- and sisters-in-law: George Tupper, Glen Barker, Arnold Wilson, Woodrow Wilson (Florence), Raymond Wilson (Kathleen), Floyd Wilson (Alpha), Opal Adams (Dave), Bessie Peterson (George), Dora Samuelson (Obed), Lorna Wilson, Lorene Krauel (Cifford), Jay Wilson, Grace Schneider (Roland), Loretta Stewart (Lymon), and Ardith Rosinski (Frank)
Following moms wishes no formal public visitation or funeral will be held. A private close family Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 17th.
Mom most enjoyed her annual 4th of July party every summer. Each year it gets bigger and bigger. The fireworks display at dusk, at times, outdid most small towns. This year’s party will also be her Celebration of Life, after her graveside services at the Town of Crandon Cemetery on July 6th.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to inform friends, family, and community members of a person's passing, allowing them to pay their respects and offer condolences. They also provide a sense of closure and help to celebrate the life of the deceased.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, a family member or close friend of the deceased writes the obituary. In some cases, a funeral home or mortuary may assist with writing the obituary or provide a template for the family to use.

The length of an obituary can vary, but it's generally recommended to keep it concise and focused on the most important information. A good rule of thumb is to aim for 1-2 paragraphs at most.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many newspapers and online obituary platforms allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can be a nice way to personalize the tribute and help readers connect with the person who has passed away.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department directly to find out their specific submission guidelines and deadlines. You may need to provide the written obituary, as well as any accompanying photos or other materials.

Can I write my own obituary?
