The oldest of three children, Lonniejean was educated in the Kansas City Missouri public schools Paseo High School class of 1973.  Driven by a continuing thirst for knowledge, Lonniejean earned an Associate of Arts Degree in 1994 from Washburn University, and later completed a Bachelor’s of Liberal Arts in 2004 from the University of Missouri Kansas City.
Lonnie joined in marriage with Ernest D. Brown from May 4, 1971 – 1985. Born from this union was their daughter, E’ra Deneen Brown.
Lonniejean Brown was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on November 24, 1974, while attending the Swope Park Congregation. Over the years she attended several congregations in the Kansas City area and was currently attending the Hillcrest Congregation.
Lonnie’s love for God Jehovah never waned, growing stronger over the years as she experienced his love in her life and the lives of others.  Even after it became increasingly difficult to walk from door to door or stand and offer literature, Lonniejean buddied up with sisters to tell others about the Bible. Drawing strength from her faith and love for God, they spent hours writing letters, preaching from the car, and making return visits to those interested in learning about the hope for a new world.
To be close to Lonniejean meant you witnessed a skilled conversationalist, with an unparalleled ability to connect, and relate to anyone she met. Lonnie’s hospitality and infectious laughter matched her welcoming discussions. Regardless of how any conversation began it ended the same, with a future perfect paradise with no sin, pain, or death.
Lonniejean held a passion for family, friends, shopping, travel, sweets and helping others. She worked supporting some of Kansas City’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged across mental health and disability services.  She worked in multiple organization including Special Neighbors, Concerned Care, Our House and Center School District (Special Education) until early retirement in 2014.

Sublett; uncles, Burnice Stegall, Eugene Stegall Bey, Elijah Sublett, Harry Sublett; aunt Ella R. Stegall, sister-in-law, Janice R. Brown; brother-in-law, Glennon L. Brown.
