As the second oldest of 9 siblings, Elida embraced the role of caregiver and mentor, helping to raise her brothers and sisters. She was very active in the church, holding several offices, and her long tenure as a Sunday School teacher at First Free Methodist reflected her deep faith in God.
Elida's interests were a mirror to her soul. She loved growing up on the farm and carried the simplicity and joy of those early days throughout her life. In her younger years, she liked to travel, exploring new places and creating memories. The Salinas Family Reunions were events she looked forward to, where she could reconnect with her roots and celebrate the bonds of family. Elida was also known for her resourcefulness, often making use of all the dinner leftovers, much to the delight of her family. She was a huge Detroit Tigers fan! if the Tigers were on she was glued to the TV.
A voracious reader, Elida enjoyed books and staying informed through the newspaper. In quieter moments, she loved to color, finding peace in the simple act of bringing pictures to life with vibrant hues. Her loving and faith-filled nature was evident in every aspect of her life, from the way she helped raise all of her siblings to her unwavering commitment to her church and community.
Elida's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love, faith, and service. She will be remembered as a matriarch whose influence and spirit will continue to guide her family and all who knew her.
