Obituary Preview: William Keith Ratliff, 53, a lifelong resident of Greenville, Florida died unexpectedly on February 8, 2022, in Tallahassee, Florida.
Keith leaves to cherish his memory his sons: Benjamin (Lindsay); Josh (Logan); and daughter: Cassidy Ratliff.  He is also survived by his mother: Linda Kinsey Ratliff; his brothers: Jimmy (Lynn) Ratliff; Steven (Amy) Ratliff; and sister: Karen (Bobby) Surles.  He also leaves to grieve his grandchildren: Bentley, Kaleb, Kase, and Kade Ratliff as well as two aunts: Rachel Bush and Marjorie Norris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father James Clifton Ratliff.
A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Evergreen Cemetery, Greenville, Florida.

Obituary Preview: Edward Julius Cowart, 32, son of Shelton and Nancy Cowart, Sr., passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022.
He is survived by his parents: Shelton and Nancy Cowart; Children: Layton (9), Lincoln (4), and Mila (3); Brothers: Shelton (Bree) Cowart, and Brandon (Becca) Cowart; Sisters: Jessica (Justin) Cowart, and Amanda (Matt) Cowart; and 11 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Grandmother, Ethel Cowart; Uncle: Edward J. Cowart; Cousins: Allan Massey and Dylan Cowart.
Visitation will be at 10:00 am on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Swilley Hill Church of God.  Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 am, with Rev. Andy Pearson of Swilley Hill Church of God officiating.

Richard Wayne Hart - August 02, 1955 - January 28, 2022

Obituary Preview: Richard Wayne Hart, eldest son of Jerry and Margaret Hart of Valdosta, passed away January 28, 2022, in the early morning hours under the excellent care of the nurses and doctors at South Georgia Medical Center.  He fought hard to defeat his returned battle with cancer but the effects of COVID were too much to overcome.
Richard attended Valdosta High School then served in the U.S. Army with his close buddies at that time and became a sharpshooter/grenade specialist with the Ranger Division in Fort Dix, NJ.  After his military service he had a career in Safety Sprinkler Engineering with several companies but retired with Dean Fire Protection of Adel, GA.  He loved fishing, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his friends and loved ones.  He will be missed very much.
Rick was single and had no children at his passing.  He was preceded in death by his Father: Jerry; close Uncles: Jimmy, Sonny and Dickey Lewis.  He leaves behind his Mother: Margaret; Brothers: Wendy (Kim) Hart, Mike (Troylene) Hart; Aunt: Marty Brentise; Uncle: Donnie (Debbie) Hart; and a list of cousins.  He has 4 nephews and 2 nieces that he loved very much.
Visitation will be 10:00 am on Thursday, February 3, 2022, with the Service following at 11:00 am.  Minister John Chick of First Christian Church of Valdosta will be officiating.  Burial will be at 2:00 pm at Tallahassee National Cemetery.

Sam "Buck" Tison, III - January 21, 1968 - January 04, 2022

Obituary Preview: Sam “Buck” Tison, age 53, of Quitman, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022 in Gainesville, Florida.  He was born in Atlanta, to Sam J. and Corienne Tison but lived in Quitman and attended Brooks County High School.
Buck was very proud of his Army service, during which he served in Operation Desert Storm Persian Gulf War and Somalia.  After his military service, he began his next career of being a truck driver, which he enjoyed.  Buck was a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.   He especially loved the many adventures he had with his granddaughter, Avarie.
He is survived by his Wife: Melissa Tison, Mother: Corienne Tison, Quitman; Son: David-Tyler Jelks Tison, Quitman; Daughter: Jan (Michael) McBee, Jesup; Sisters: Alacia Meadows, Quitman and Laura Parks, Thomasville; Brother: Sammy (Bonnie) Tison, Quitman; Nephew: Josh (Heather) Tison, Quitman; and his pride and joy - his Granddaughter: Avarie McBee, Jesup; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Father: Sam Jelks Tison, Sr.; Sister: Cynthia Mullinax; Grandmother: Corienne “Mamie” Cobb.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Family Farm 5700 Moultrie Highway, Quitman, Georgia.

Mrs. Grimes enjoyed spending time with her family. She also had a love for Harley motorcycles and visiting the Great Smoky Mountains.

Hughes, Sr. and Zona Mae (Rogers) Hughes of Valdosta, Georgia.  He was a carpenter by trade and loved NASCAR, deer hunting, and cooking.
Survivors include two daughters: Heather Renea Marcatos and Jessica Nicole Hughes, both of Valdosta. Two brothers: B.G. (Linda) Hughes, Jr., Curtis Ray "Randy" (Susie) Hughes, and sister: Lisa Hughes (Andy) Bostic.  He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, one great-grandchild as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

En su adolecencia, aspiraba grandes cosas y al ver que no abia recursos en el pueblito decidio ir en busca de sus sueños .en el 2013 fue la primera vez que salio de casa para ir a trabajar a baja california . se fue por un tiempo a trabajar trabajo en campos iso un poco de dinero y regreso de nuevo, a su pueblo quiso realisar sus sueños de tener su taller de carpinteria, intento iso lo que pudo con el poco dinero que abia ganado trabajando, pero no le fue suficiente para comprar todo lo que iba a nesesitar. alfonso era un jover que tenia ambicion en la vida de superar los obstaculos y construir sus sueños .
Y le salio la oportunidad de benir en los estados unidos llego bajo una visa de trabajo muy duro sin dejar atras sus sueños de superar . y ser alguien en la vida.
Alfonso era un joven muy amable respetuoso ayudaba al que mas lo nesesitaba una exelente persona asi vivio asta que llego ese lamentable dia 20 de enero 2021 cuando sufrio una lecion cerebral anoxica estuvo casi 2 meses en cama sufriendo luchando por su vida pero lamentablemente perdio la batalla.

Obituary Preview: Mr. Donald Wayne (Don) Cox, age 71, of Lake Park, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 13, 2021.   He was born in Montgomery County, Tennessee to the late Richard and Hazel Cox. Mr. Cox worked in law enforcement in Thomas County and with the Boston, Georgia Police Department.  He was also a long-haul truck driver. Mr. Cox loved fishing, playing the guitar, and at one time was a horse trainer.  He always enjoyed helping others. He is survived by his daughter: Hazel Nunn; granddaughter Samantha Nunn.  Stepchildren: Linda Kay (David) Neely; Alicia (Coy) Porter; Amanda (Trevor) Lehman.  Step-grandchildren; Alyssa Neely; Royal Neely; Madison Porter; Colby Porter; Noah Porter; Kassidy Lehman; Kaitlyn Lehman; Ayden Lehman.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Kay Edmondson Cox, and his parents Richard and Hazel Cox.
Private services were held Monday, March 15, 2021.

She is survived by her children: Joetta (Victor) Henderson; Jimmy (Joe) Mullinax; Jennifer Strange; Son-in-Law: Donnie Barker; grandchildren: Marcael Hager, John Hearon (Charlotte), Brian Henderson (Trixie), Rebecca (Rosco) Henderson Bass, Kim Rigdon, Jamie (Patty) Monk, Chad Kinsey, Joe Hughes, Candy Hughes, Stacy (Steven) Freedle, and Rhonda (Jeff) Crider; 19 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Sterling and Edith Hager, brother; Bill Hager, daughter; Billie Barker, and son-in-law Jim Strange.
She also leaves behind two very special friends; Jimmy (Pee Wee) Christian and Mattie Bartee.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 4, 2021, in the Chapel of Warren Funeral Services of Quitman with the Rev. Steve Shierling officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm and continue until the time of the service.  Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery following the service. Obituary Preview: Susan Slone, age 70, went to be with the Lord on January 4, 2021 after a lengthy illness. Ms. Slone was born in Albany, Georgia to James and Marion Strickland. She proudly graduated from Florida State University with a Master’s Degree and went on to pursue a career in Clinical Social Work. She was honored to work in her chosen career and retired in 2007. She enjoyed gardening immensely until her health declined.
She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her son, Scott (Tammy) Slone; her faithful and loyal companion, her golden retriever, Sadie; Sister-in-Law, Martha Strickland, and nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James & Marion Strickland; and brothers, Jimmy Strickland, and Cleve Strickland.
A Celebration of Life service for Ms. Susan Slone will be held in the Chapel of Warren Funeral Services of Quitman on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 3:00pm.

Carol grew up in the Quitman Community and was known to many as the “4H Lady” or “Mama Carol” over the years. She loved being the 4H Director and had a passion for watching all the children and young teens excel through the program.
After 23 years of service to the University of Georgia Ag Extension Agency, Carol retired in 2018.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Mike Smith of Quitman; her children, Justin (Amber) Smith of Quitman, Kelly (Michael) Gribble of Lake Park, Jordan (Ronni) Smith of Quitman, and Hope Cook of Monticello. She was a wonderful “Mimi” to Bailey, Catelin, Drew, Audrey, Jackson, Avery, Jordi, Madison, and Ty.
Carol is also survived by her mother Lois Warren; Brothers, Donnie (Martitia) Warren, Dwayne (Lee) Warren, and her sister Lisa Griffin, all of Quitman. She was preceded in death by her father, Felton Warren.

Elizabeth and Marty enjoyed traveling and gambling. Slot machines were her favorite.  She is survived by her husband of 23 years, partner in crime for 32 years: Marty Brady; brothers: John L. (Sharon) Marconi and Dominic (Ruby) Macaroni; sister: Evelyn (Mike) Lindsey; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Grandma Allen; mother and best friend: Reba J. Macaroni; father: Dominic Macaroni; sister: Yvette Marconi; nephews Dominic “Baby Dominic” Macaroni and Don “Fred” Marconi.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Riverview Memorial Gardens, 3945 N Valdosta Road, Valdosta, Georgia. The family will begin receiving guests at 11:00 am with a brief service to begin at 12:00 pm.

Mr. Weldon served in the United States Army and was an avid and skilled carpenter as well as mechanic. Ronnie was employed by James Warren & Associates, Inc. He enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, and he also enjoyed playing poker. Ronnie was a hard worker. He was a regular at Mikki's Bar & Grille playing in billiard tournaments and Texas Holdem tournaments. He enjoyed spending time with his friends. He is survived by his children: Nick Cooper of Valdosta, Christina Brogdon of Valdosta; grandchildren: Ryker & Rylan Cooper, and Conner Tyson; siblings: Donna (Fred Roberson) Decker of Valdosta, Shirley (Van) Whiddon of Valdosta, David (Sharla) Weldon of Orange, TX, his twin Donald (Gail) Weldon of Savannah, and Joseph Weldon of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by his father: Audis Weldon, Sr., mother: Dora Weldon Montgomery, and brother: Audis Weldon, Jr.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, June 25 in the chapel of Warren Funeral Services of Quitman from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Bruce Allen Rozier - December 05, 1963 - June 12, 2020

Obituary Preview: Bruce Allen Rozier, age 56 of Quitman, Georgia passed away Friday, June 12, 2020 after an extended illness. Bruce is survived by his two children William Bruce Rozier and Emily Louise Rozier both of Valdosta, he is also survived by his parents Thomas L. and Betty J. Rozier of Quitman; his sister Barbara (Kirk) Tefft of Valdosta and brother David (Carole) Rozier of Quitman as well as many nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews.
Bruce was a truck driver by trade and spent several years doing local deliveries. The last few years he enjoyed being on the open road doing long haul trucking.The family laid Bruce to rest in a private service with Pastor Steve Shierling officiating. Arrangements were made by Warren Funeral Services of Quitman.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Hospice of South Georgia who were so loving in helping care for Bruce in his final days.
