Obituary Preview: Richard Lynn Knox passed away at home peacefully on April 28, 2024 at the age of 77.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Arithia (Shelton) Knox. They were married in Springfield, MO on March 30, 1996, a marriage that endured for 28 magnificent years.
Richard is lovingly remembered and survived by his sons Thomas Patrick (Cherie) Knox, Cumming, GA; Richard Michael (Jonna) Knox, Nicholasville, KY; stepson John Philip (AdriAnn) Rode, Boulder County, CO; his grandchildren Abigail Knox, Mikala (Ron) Overstreet, John Thomas Knox, Spencer (Alex) Rode, Chloe McKee, John "Jack" Rode; and great grandchild Beau Overstreet; his brother Thomas (Ann) Knox; his niece Christina (Carter) Conley, APRN; and nephew Michael (Meghan) Knox, M.D.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Ella Jane (Denison) Knox, Richard Landers Knox, and his stepdaughter, Sherrie Michelle Rode.
Richard was born in Louisville, KY on August 30, 1946, and was raised by his parents in Owensboro, KY where he attended Immaculate and Our Lady of Lourdes Parishes with his parents and graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School, where he was a standout football player. He enrolled into Brescia College and attended night classes while working full-time and raising his two sons, graduating in 1974. He worked as a computer programmer in Information Systems at V.E. Anderson, followed by General Electric in Owensboro until he was transferred with them to North Carolina, then to Virginia, and finally back to Louisville, KY until he took early retirement after 22 years. Richard then embarked onto a new career in sales where he was very successful thanks to his caring, heart-felt personality and genuineness to solve problems for his customers. His sales career led him to Springfield, MO where he made his final home.
Richard had a deep love of family, and believed that loyalty was one of the greatest characteristics one could have for one's family members. He always loved coaching his boys and other young men in football, baseball, and basketball. Like his father before him, he believed that extracurricular activities developed character and prepared them for life's lessons. He was a huge Kentucky Wildcats football and basketball fan, and taught his boys to "bleed blue" as well. Richard enjoyed watching college and professional football, as well as other sports and forms of entertainment. However, he mostly enjoyed sitting in his backyard with his wife watching all the wonderful nature God provides in their garden. He always said the best TV show he watched was the one that took place in his backyard: watching all the birds that come to visit the bird feeders, the squirrels foraging for acorns and walnuts, and viewing the beautiful flowers that they planted bloom throughout the year. Richard was a very charitable man, and generously donated to Owensboro Catholic High School and to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital with regular contributions.

Fred Arthur Puckett - October 23, 1938 - April 17, 2024

Departed: 04/17/2024 (Springfield)
Obituary Preview: Fred Arthur Puckett, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 85 years old.
Fred was born on October 23, 1938, in Westwood, California, to the late Allen and Eva Belle (Graves) Puckett, who instilled in him a strong sense of integrity, compassion, and hard work. These values guided him throughout his life and endeared him to all who knew him.
Fred met the love of his life, Dorothy Uldene Salzer when they were both 15 years old, and they married on September 29, 1956. Their marriage was a testament to their commitment to each other, and they held true to their marriage vows throughout their nearly 68 years together. Their union was blessed with three children – Richard “Rick”, Terri, and James “Jim”.
Fred was a man of many talents and passions, most notably his dedication to serving his country. He retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force after serving during the Vietnam War. Upon retiring from the military after more than 20 years of service, Fred became a draftsman at the Paul Mueller Company, where he worked for decades until 2000. After two retirements, his years of service only grew as Fred was a dedicated member of Wesley United Methodist Church since 1979 who volunteered in many capacities throughout his community, including as a Meals on Wheels driver and a member of the Hospitality Committee. He was especially proud of the garden he helped grow at church. He had a passion for painting, could build anything with his hands, and enjoyed working on and collecting Ford Model-T cars. Fred and Dorothy enjoyed so many of the cities they visited and adventures they experienced while touring his Model-Ts.
Fred's love for his family was boundless, and he leaves behind a legacy of warmth and resilience. His ornery sense of humor, handsome good looks, and comforting scent of Old Spice were something everyone loved about him, and sitting beside him while he was telling jokes and stories was always a great place to be. He and Dorothy were inseparable, and their love for each other was a guiding light for their children, grandchildren, and all who knew them.
Fred had a deep Christian faith, and he loved Jesus with all his heart. Friends and family could always count on his faithful prayers and he never shied away from ministering to someone. Of all the many books that he read, the Bible sitting next to his rocking chair was the one he cherished most.
Fred was preceded in death by his children Rick Puckett (Millie) and Terri Hamby (Charles), as well as his parents and brothers, Jim Puckett and Bill Puckett.
Fred is survived by his faithful wife, Dorothy; his son, James (Paula); his grandchildren, Jessica Puckett Moulder (Russell), Dave Puckett (Kylie), Morgan Nemeth (Chris), Kyle Yeager (Stephanie), Kelcy Wallace, and Jamie Johnson (Khalil); 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
A final salute will be performed at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 8:15 AM with an escort to the committal service with military honors will be held at 9:00 AM at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.  After the committal, there will be a memorial service at Wesley United Methodist Church, 922 W Republic Rd, Springfield, MO 65807, at 10:30 AM.

He died April 10, 2024, at the age of 86 at his home in Springfield MO after a long illness.
Surviving are his children Terry (Karen) Warren of Nixa MO, Gary (Lia) Warren of Republic MO, and Angie (Kevin) Piercy of Springfield MO, and his wife Ona Warren of the home.
He was preceded in death by one infant son Timothy Neil Warren and one granddaughter, Erica Warren as well as his parents and all 11 siblings.
Surviving are 8 grandchildren: Aaron and Allen Warren of Nixa MO, Campbell, Morgan, and Griffin Piercy of Springfield MO, Jesse Thrasher Warren of Republic MO, Lindsey (Justin) Hilton of Willard MO, and Amy (Justin) Ricklefs of Nixa MO and 5 great-grandchildren: Levi and Kendall Hilton of Willard MO, Calder, Sawyer, and Zander Ricklefs of Nixa MO. As well as his honorary sibling, Linda (Larry) McAdams of West Plains, MO.
The youngest of twelve children, Bill grew up in an area that was virtually untouched by technological advances during his childhood, and he didn’t get to experience indoor plumbing until he was married. He was born to tell a good story, and often had everyone around him laughing with his anecdotes. Bill was a voracious reader and especially loved Louis L’Amour westerns. He was an artist and a craftsman who loved making things – the more challenging the project the better! His hobbies throughout his life were numerous; he enjoyed hunting and taxidermy, restored cars (a Model T, a Model A, and a couple of 1960’s era Mustangs), he was an amazing woodworker and craftsman, with those skills he built muzzleloaders and clocks, plus he was a terrific artist with numerous paintings under his belt.
In retirement, Bill and Ona Fern built a log cabin, doing almost all of the work themselves, using logs from inherited land in Shannon County. That cabin kept them very happily busy for many years until his stroke in 2015.
Bill made friends easily and enjoyed helping people. He took delight in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent time with them whenever he could. He will be sadly missed, and his memory will be cherished by his family and friends, as well as the neighbors, customers, and folks in his community that he connected with over the years.
Bill was cremated at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd. DeGraffenreid-Wood Crematory in Springfield MO.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
