Obituary Preview: Harold Rayner, 98 of North Branford, CT. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Monday, July 8th, 2024. Harold was the beloved husband of 73 years to the late Beatrice (Dinneen) Rayner.
He was born on October 23, 1925, in New Haven, CT, the son of the late Helen & Harold Rayner. He was a proud veteran having served in the Navy aboard the USS Cloues-Destroyer Escort during WW2 before embarking on career in the US Postal Service. Harold also worked for New Haven Trap Rock of North Branford. Besides staying up on current events by reading three newspapers every day he was a huge sports enthusiast, and avid Green Bay Packers and Montreal Canadians fan. His love of sports extended to rarely missing any of his grandchildrens sporting events.
Harold is survived by his daughter Charlene Rusconi of Northford, son William Rayner and his wife Urszula of North Branford and three grandchildren, Linda Rusconi, Patrick & Christopher Rayner. He also leaves behind two great grandsons Michael Jr. and Jesse Pellegrino. He is predeceased by his daughter Tracy, his son-in-law Mark Rusconi, grandson Lew Rusconi and sister June Kirby. The funeral service will be private and there will be no calling hours.

Obituary Preview: Stephanie Ann MacFarlane Lawler of Wallingford, CT, wife of Michael L. Lawler, passed away unexpectedly on July 5th, 2024, at her home. She was born in Wallingford on March 4th, 1969, a daughter of Priscilla MacFarlane and the late Kenneth MacFarlane.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by Mother Priscilla, son Lucas, his wife Natalie and their daughter Lilly Jane, daughter Katrena, two stepdaughters Ashley and Hannah, brothers Jim and Ken, his significant other Alex, niece Emma, nephew Caiden in addition to other aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.
She loved her family and was very active in her church.
To her husband Michael she was the sunshine of his life. Even though she is gone her light still burns in his soul. It is wonderful to know she is no longer in pain.

Obituary Preview: Roger Oscar Roy, 72, of Rio Rancho, NM, entered into eternal rest on April 9, 2024 at his home.
Roger was born in Warwick, RI on April 22, 1951, a son of the late Jeanne and Oscar Roy.
At the young age of eight, Roger’s family moved to Connecticut. He graduated from West Haven High School in 1969. After graduating he was a longtime employee of Armstrong/Perelli Tire Company and later was owner of North and South Travel Agency in New Mexico.
Roger loved to joke, laugh, and travel. He journeyed across the United States and Europe. Through his work, he helped thousands of people plan their dream vacations, visit family, and see the world. His quick wit and humor brightened the room and made the world a happier place.
Roger is survived by his sisters, Jeanette Greene, Jaqueline (Joseph) Pulit, Monique (John) Ek, Anne-Marie Lennon and Lorraine Roy; his brother, Ronald Roy; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Theresa Roy Dube and Marguerite “Peggy” Roy, and his brothers, Roland and Gerard Roy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am on Monday, July 22, 2024 directly at St Louis Church of St. John the XXIII Parish, 89 Bull Hill Lane, West Haven, Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford.

Obituary Preview: Edith M. Richards, 98, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 19, at Connecticut Hospice. Edith was predeceased by her beloved husband, Willard L. Richards, Sr. and all seven of her siblings.
Edith leaves behind a loving family that includes her children: Judith Hoeger (George) of Southington, Willard Richards, Jr. (Beverly) of Middleburg, FL, Deborah Veloza (David) of Meriden, Beth Seeber (Skip) of Wallingford, and Naomi Corso (Anthony) of Meriden.
She was a proud grandmother to 16 grandchildren, great-grandmother to 22 great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandmother to one granddaughter.
Edie was a great storyteller, always captivating family with tales of her life. She spoke her mind with the kind of honesty that made you laugh, often catching everyone off guard with her unexpected and hilarious observations. Her cooking and baking abilities were legendary, and her home was renowned in the family and neighborhood for always having the best junk food and exceptionally fun times.
Her life was a testament to the values of family, love, and resilience. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her and sharing in her laughter, hospitality, and delicious food.

Obituary Preview: John Gerard Steinbeck, Meriden, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 14, 2024, exactly one month prior to his 77th birthday.
He was predeceased by his parents: Frederick N. Steinbeck, Sr and Anna (Majeski) Steinbeck, his stepmother Vera MacDonald Steinbeck, as well as his sisters, RoseMary Olschefski and Elizabeth Ann Steinbeck.
John was a graduate of St. Mary Parochial School and a 1966 graduate of Horace C. Wilcox Technical School (Drafting Dept). Following graduation, he was employed by CUNO and other local area firms. He was also employed by St. Mary RC Parish, overseeing custodial and other services related to the church, school and rectory. He also worked for the parish (St Boniface) cemetery. John served as Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 28 (Sponsored by St Mary Parish) providing a guiding influence to many boys attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.
John left Meriden, drove out to Seattle, WA where he established himself as a self-employed drafting contractor. His service was utilized by Boeing Corp., the city of Seattle Sea-Tac, the state of Washington, just to name a few. During his time in Seattle, he traveled extensively throughout the West, in both the U.S and Canada.
Upon his return to Meriden he continued his drafting skills with area firms. He also enjoyed his seasonal employment at Lake Compounce Amusement Park.
He is survived by his brother, Frederick N. Steinbeck, Jr (Barbara), step-brother Arnold MacDonald, and step-sister Beatrice Morin. Other surviving family members include: Nieces Sheryl Fritz (Dave Boufard), Amy O’Donnell, and Heidi Boyd, Nephews: Gary Steinbeck (Tina),Karl Olschefski (Terry McBrien), and Eric Steinbeck (Donna) as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Final Services will be private. Contributions may be made in his memory to the organization of the donor’s choice.

Gloria Biestek - December 13, 1932 - July 20, 2024

Obituary Preview: Gloria (Wieloch) Biestek, 91, a lifelong Meriden resident earned her angel’s wings and passed away peacefully on July 20, 2024. Gloria was born on December 13, 1932 in Meriden to Helen (Kulpa) and John Wieloch. She attended St Stanislaus School, graduating in 1950 from Meriden High School with high honors. She was very active with the Meriden Falcons and was a proud member of the Falcon Fife and Drum Corps as a fifer. Gloria was also inducted into the National Honor Society for her outstanding accomplishments while at Meriden High. Following high school, Gloria worked at a jewelry store in downtown Meriden for several years. In her spare time, she loved to go to Hammonasset Beach State Park which is where she met her future husband, Fred Biestek. Gloria and Fred were married on September 19, 1953 at St Stanislaus Church and resided just down the hill across from the Falcon Club. They started an insurance agency from one of the rooms in their small house on Grant Street. Their business began to quickly blossom, and they moved their office to Church Street in downtown Meriden. Gloria operated the business during the day while Fred worked as a cost accountant at Chander Evans in West Hartford and sold policies in the evening.
Gloria loved reading, doing crossword puzzles, visiting the library, knitting, participating in the Catholic Mothers’ Circle group, following two of her sons’ football careers at Boston College, tailgating at BC games, volunteering as a teacher’s assistant at the John Barry elementary school (which she attended as a small child), playing the penny machines at the casino from time to time; hosting Victorian tea parties, traveling with friends, cooking Polish meals and always being there to help the family.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen (Kulpa) Wieloch, her husband Fred, son Robert, brothers David and Philip, and brother John Robert, who died in infancy. They already made their journey to heaven and are there to welcome Gloria. The family is deeply appreciative of the loving care and concern provided by Nurse Ania, Dr. Jakubowski and the many dedicated staff members of Masonic Pond Ridge and the Connecticut Baptist Home.
She is survived by her daughter Kathryn Sundberg and husband Scott; sons Fred Biestek, Jr. and wife Xuemei, John Biestek, Buck Biestek and wife Lori, and Jim Biestek and wife Julie; sister Mary Caroline Gianakos; cousins Shirley Pagano and Jimmy Wieloch; and many loving nieces and nephews. Gloria was exceptionally blessed with 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Her passion for knitting is highlighted by her crafting an afghan for each of her grandchildren. Gloria was the moral compass for the family and displayed her love and courage every single day. The family sends their eternal gratitude for a life well-lived and signs off with, Dobranoc.

Laura was born in Queens, New York on October 22, 1937, a daughter of the late Joseph and Regina (Perinciolo) Robbiano. Laura owned and operated Laura’s Beauty Box in Tenafly, NJ for many years until retiring. Laura spent her later years in Silvano d’Orba, Alessandria, Italy, the town where both her father and husband were born. Laura had a lifelong passion for Italian music and ballroom dancing, although her all-time favorite dance was the Latin American style known as the “meringue”. She was truly a social butterfly!
Laura is survived by her daughters, Nancy Moreno and her husband, David, of New Milford, NJ, and Lisa Gualco and her husband, Carlo Crosio, of Wallingford; her sister, Margaret Robbiano of Bridgeport; her grandchildren, Alex Moreno and his wife, Chelsea, Eric Moreno and his wife, Denise, Joe Moreno; Stefano Crosio and his wife, Katie, and Giulia Crosio and her husband, Alvin; and her great grandchildren, Olivia and Avery. Laura’s grandchildren and great grandchildren have always held a very special place in her heart. She will be missed beyond measure.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, July 26, 2024 at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.

She later attended ultimate Medical Academy of Tampa, FL, and earned a Certificate in Medical Coding. She was currently employed with Travel Centers of America. Shaunda enjoyed styling hair, music, cooking for family and friends, outings with her children, helping those in need and Pizza!
Her laugh was wholehearted and contagious. She loved hard, ……..was tough on the outside, but very fragile on the inside.
In addition to her husband Warren and her parents Lynn and Michael, she is survived by her daughters, Cameron Z. Perry and Kemani N. Watson; her son, Dior J. Watson; her brothers, Kennedy A. Johnson Jr. and his wife Conchetta, Michael Bacote Jr. of Beaumont, TX, and Sean Bacote of Beaumont, TX; her maternal grandfather, Sal Papotto; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family members including her brothers, Leonard Bunch and his wife Jessica, Raleigh Parker, and Allen Charity and his wife Vanessa; and her sister, Justine Mastroianni. She was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Margaret E. Papotto; her paternal grandparents, Hazel Bacote and Leon Bacote Sr.; and her uncle, Guy E. Bacote.

He was a member of a few small hometown bands and dreamed of fame. He made friends easily and many became his family. He loved animals and especially the late Wrangler. Michael S. Frechette - January 13, 1970 - February 12, 2023

Obituary Preview: Michael S. Frechette, 53, of Wallingford, lost his battle with depression on Sunday, February 12, 2023. He was the loving husband and best friend of Jennifer (Flood) Frechette.
Michael was born in El Paso, Texas, January 13, 1970, a son of Robert Joseph Frechette and Barbara (McKinnon) Stack. He served in the 2nd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army from 1989 to 1991 and was a Sapper in a Combat Engineer BN stationed in Korea. Michael attended Clarkson University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Management in 1998 and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 2001. In 2010, he received a Masters Degree in Engineering and Project Management from The University of Maryland. He was currently employed by Walsh Construction where he worked as a Project Manager.
Michael found great joy engaging in various activities with Jen, be it their competitive pursuits to beat Escape Rooms across Connecticut, or playing their giant versions of Connect Four or Jenga in their backyard. His home was his sanctuary. Mike welcomed everyone warmly into his home and was happy to host picnics and man the grill with a beer in his hand and a smile on his face. Mike was adamant about keeping fit and enjoyed running, cycling, swimming, and hiking. He was an avid fan of the Seahawks, Red Sox, Bruins, and ever faithful to Clarkson Hockey, his alma mater. One of Mikes favorite jobs at Clarkson was driving the Zamboni, which he did in style while wearing a tuxedo. Mike was a proud member of the Wallingford Elks, donating to their food and toy drives as well as other fundraisers.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his 5 month old son whose smile lit up Mikes world, his good friend and father-in-law, David Flood, his cousins Matthew Frechette and Tracy (Frechette) Jones, his close friends: Brian "Bob" Lisiecki, John Castle, and Jeff Kennedy whom he dearly loved, and his cat Lily. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia ORourke.
Despite his lifelong struggle with depression, Mike truly loved his family and friends. He would go out of his way to be kind and helpful to all. His sadness never prevented him from caring for and about others.

Lorraine Anne (Nuzzo) Bailey - April 26, 1933 - July 23, 2024

Obituary Preview: Lorraine Anne (Nuzzo) Bailey, 91, of Wallingford, died on Tuesday, July 23,2024 at The Wallingford Regency House Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, where she had been lovingly cared for the last two years. Lorraine was the loving wife of Everett Hoyt Bailey for 67 years, until his passing in 2021.
Born in New Haven on April 26, 1933, daughter of the late Albert and Mary (DeCrescenzo) Nuzzo. Lorraine became a resident of Wallingford after living in the Fair Haven area until 1963. She was an active parishioner at St. John's Episcopal Church in Yalesville, where she took part in the annual Applefest Church Fair, running the kitchen and serving her home-made soups and famous eggplant parmigiana. Cooking was her passion, she loved nothing better than to make meals for her neighbors and friends. Lorraine would never let anyone leave her home without feeding them or sending them home with food.
She is survived by her daughter, Elaine McDunnah and her husband Jeffery; her son, Mark Bailey and his wife Lynn (Ouellette); her grandchildren, Jacqueline McDunnah and her husband Alexander Davis; Jeannette McDunnah and her partner John Watts; Michelle (Bailey) Frear and her husband Kevin; and Christopher Bailey and his wife Lisa; her great-grandchildren, Luke Frear; Erica and Lance Bailey; her sister-in-law, Anna Fiengo; and many nieces and nephews. Lorraine is also survived by her dog, Pumpkin, who was always by her side. She was predeceased by her siblings Vincent Nuzzo and his wife Ruth, Nancy Cassella and her spouse Ernest, Roseanne Conte and her spouse Domenic, Mary Markowski, and her spouse John. Lorraine was loved by many friends and relatives who went before her, as well as her beloved dog, April. She now joins them in eternal rest and peace.
The family would like to thank the staff at Regency House for their compassion and care for Lorraine. The family appreciates Constellation Hospice for their care, concern and help in coping with her illness.

He was the loving husband of Loretta Edson Parisi. Born in the Wooster Street area of New Haven, the middle child of William and Vera Parisi of North Haven. He was a graduate of NHHS and worked his adult life as a diesel truck mechanic and driver and was a proud member of Teamsters Local 443.
Beloved father of Michael Parisi of Florida, Stacy DeLucia of East Hampton and Paul Parisi Jr of Newington. He was most proud of being Poppy to his grandchildren Madisyn, Mason, Abigail, Zeke, Nathan Parisi along with Raymond and Cooper Beck who in retirement he along with his wife Loretta had the privilege of providing day care at Grannieland and Poppyville during their formative years. Paul also leaves behind many very special friends too numerous to mention.
