Obituary Preview: Eleanor L. (Parrish) Bouch, 89 of Mahaffey, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022 at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
She was born August 6, 1932 to Howard H. and Clara (Daisher) Parrish in Rock Springs.
Earlier in her life Eleanor attended the Mahaffey United Methodist Church, where she served as secretary and treasurer. Eleanor also served as the Mahaffey Tax Collector in the 1980's. She married Ray F. Bouch, November 13, 1948. He preceded her in death on November 13, 1986. Eleanor worked at Kent Sportswear in Curwensville before becoming a caregiver. She worked as a caregiver in Punxsutawney, Curwensville and for Helpmates before her retirement. Eleanor enjoyed crocheting, word puzzles and painting ceramics. She loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by a daughter Sandra L. Jones, and Thomas McCartney, Mahaffey, Dennis L. Bouch and wife Debbie, NY, James F. Bouch and wife Jessie, Mahaffey, Dave L. Bouch and wife Leslie, Mahaffey, 19 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and a sister Joann Stiver, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Ronald E. Bouch, two infant twin daughters, two sisters, Dorothy Esposit, Susanna Peace, two brothers William and Charles Parish. a daughter-in-law Nancy Bouch and a son-in-law William R. Jones.

Obituary Preview: James E. "Jim" Gearhart, 60, of Curwensville, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
He was born March 16, 1962 to Gerald and Doris (Witherite) Gearhart in Clearfield.
Jim was a 1980 graduate of Curwensville High School. He worked for Target Sportswear for 22 years as a machine operator. Jim then worked for a few local construction companies. Jim was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed hunting and riding motorcycles. He was known as being young at heart in all aspects of his life.
He is survived by two children, a daughter Jessica L. Gearhart and fiancée TJ Buterbaugh Pittsburgh, a son Jarod D. Gearhart, Curwensville, two sisters, Cindy Lemon and husband Johnny, Myrtle Beach, SC, Wendy Kuntz and husband Carl, Mahaffey, special friends, Rebecca Hess, Clearfield and Louanne Gourley, Reynoldsville and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Robert Shear.

He was born June 8, 1936 to Ross and Mae (Bouch) Wright in Mahaffey.
He worked for Benjamin Coal Company for over 30 years as a heavy equipment operator. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Pappy enjoyed tending to his garden, camping, hunting and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by six children, Vickie Waltman, New Bethlehem, Cindy Tapper and husband Harold, Mahaffey, Robert "Mike" Wright and wife Gina, Mahaffey, Ginger Felgar and husband Don, Punxsutawney, Penny Delucia, spouse, Bob, Clearfield, Randy Wright and wife Kathy, Mahaffey, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, two brothers, Dan Wright and wife Carol, Mahaffey, Ron Wright and wife Pat, Mahaffey, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary L. Wright in 2015, a son-in-law Dave Waltman, two brothers, Tom and Larry Wright.
A private memorial service will be held at the Waldron Funeral Home, Mahaffey, at the convenience of the family.

He is survived by three sisters Shirley Teats and husband Jerry, Karthaus, Debra Kester, Mahaffey, Cathy Scott, West Virginia, His Step mother Jackie Scott, West Virginia, an aunt, Rose and husband Carl Fisher, Cherry Tree, and numerous nieces, nephews, Uncles, Aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother William Scott.

He was born September 19, 1929 to W. Lawson and S. Pearl (Flood) Bloom in Grampian.
Lynn was affiliated with Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church in Grampian. He was a 1947 graduate of DuBois Area High School. Lynn drove truck for UPS for most of his working career before his retirement.
He is survived by a son Jerry L. Bloom, Curwensville, a daughter H. Susanne Reid and husband William, Clearfield, three grandchildren, Lawson Bloom, Tess Bloom and Harrison Bloom and a sister, Sara Ann Cleaver, Curwensville and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret (Campbell) Bloom in October of 2019.
At Lynn’s request there will be no visitation or services.

Obituary Preview: Walter L. “Beanie” Snyder, 96 of Northern Cambria, passed away on Wednesday January 26, 2022 at Riverside Manor in Punxsutawney with his daughters by his side.
He was born November 21, 1925 to the late Thomas George and Dessa Pearl (Lee) Snyder in Mahaffey.
Beanie was a veteran of WWII serving with the United States Army. He married Mary Frances Pennington on Valentine’s Day, 1948 in Mahaffey. Together they shared 52 years of marriage before her passing February 18, 2000. He worked for Buterbaugh Land and Timber for over 60 years before his retirement. Beanie was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and he always kept busy and stayed in shape after his retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors in every aspect. He was an avid hunter, loved riding his four-wheeler, taking rides on his snowmobile and spending time with his family
He is survived by two daughters Bonnie J. Bennett and husband William, Punxsutawney, and Kathleen M. Lingenfelter and Robert Panick, Cherry Tree, six grandchildren, Lisa, Tracy, Matthew, Karena, Dustin, and Elizabeth, 11 great grandchildren, Lacy, Derek, Olivia, Katerina, Isaac, Dylan, Westley, Christopher, Alayna, Patrick, Alexander, 10 great great grandchildren, Jayce, Phoenix, Mylah, Laykelin, Emma, Ezra, Tegan, Lexi, Cole, Eliza a sister, Alice Clawson, CO., and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a great grandson, Lucas Brothers, and eight siblings.

He will be laid to rest beside his wife Mary at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

He was born June 15, 1944 to Theadore and Etta (Guyer) Kitchen in Five Points.
Dick was a member of Calvary Chapel Church.  He lived in Virginia for over 20 years before moving back to Mahaffey to be closer to his family. He enjoyed attending church and being around his church family. In his younger years, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and doing yard work. He loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Pamela K. (Carver) Kitchen, Mahaffey, whom he married July 17, 1993. He is also survived by a daughter, Marcellia (Marcy) Tenon, IN, two sons, Richard D. Kitchen, DuBois, and Samuel T. Kitchen, Mahaffey, three grandsons, James Kitchen and wife Sarah, Indiana, Allen Kitchen and wife Tiffany, Mahaffey, Jacob Kitchen, Mahaffey,   four sisters, Nancy Hugill and husband Arthur, Mahaffey, Joyce Rummel, VA, Sandra Watson, TN, Helen Gallipo, OH, three step children, Lisa Shane and husband Rick, VA, Dan Grad, Erie, John Grad, OH, step-grandchildren, Brandie Dean, Garrett Dean, Jackson Grad, Presley Cline, Kennedy Grad, Ashley Vasquez, John Grad Jr., Richard Grad, and numerous step great-grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Nancy L. Bennett, 72 of Big Run, passed away on December 23, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
She was born April 7, 1949, to Francis and Laura (Hickok) Truance in Mahaffey.
She was an active attendee of the Mount Carmel Church, where she played the organ every Sunday. Nancy worked numerous jobs, she drove truck, a flagger on a road construction crew, was a bar tender, then retired from DuBois Regional Medical Center working in medical records. Nancy was a jack of all trades. She not only could play the organ but she could play the guitar and she was known for her wonderful singing voice. Nancy enjoyed knitting, puzzles, and playing the key board. In her younger years, she made clothing for her family, including her sister’s wedding dress. She loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Heather Mills and husband Jim, Punxsutawney, Christa Overbeck and husband Jim, Sykesville, a son Mike Bair and wife Michele, VA, eight grandchildren, a sister Susan D. Daisher and husband Richard, Mahaffey, two nieces, one grandniece and two grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George Bennett in 2018, and a brother Francis Truance.
Funeral services will be private, Internment will take place at Clover Run, Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Beverly June Hughes, age 91 of Westover, PA transitioned to eternal life on November 27, 2021 at Ridgeview Elder Care Center, due to complications from COVID.  She had resided at Ridgeview for seven years and was known to her family there as Bev, and to us as June. June is survived by three children, Joanne Salsgiver (Tom) of Mechanicsburg, PA, David Hughes (Carolyn) of Burnside, PA, Carol Fox (Brian) of Westover, PA; three sisters, Roseann Dixon (Roger) of Philipsburg, PA, Susan Braniff (Gary) of Mineral City,Ohio and Virginia Jackson (Dick) of Philipsburg, PA
June is also survived by six grandchildren, Becky Fowler (Tim) of Lake City, Fl, Brent Salsgiver (Mary) of Harrisburg, Pa, Krissy Durbin (John) of Myrtle Beach, Sc, Mark Fox (Kate) of Westover, PA, Cindy Isenberg (Josh) of Westover, Marcy Johnson of Irvona.
Also surviving are seven great grandchildren, Madison Regan, Gavin and Owen Durbin of Myrtle Beach, Sc, Max and Molly Maines of Woodland, Pa, Mason Salsgiver of Harrisburg, Pa, and Maren Jane Isenberg of Westover, Pa, several nieces and nephews, their families and a multitude of friends of all ages.
June was pre-deceased by her husband of sixty years, Elmer L. Hughes of Westover, Pa., Her mother Evelyn France Cullen of Winburne, Pa, her father, Henry Cullen of Mt. Union, Pa, her step-father Paul Kreuz and step-mother Velda Shimmel Kreuz of Philipsburg, Pa, her son Kenny Hughes of Glen Campbell, Pa., her grandson B.J. Fox of Pittsburgh, Pa. and an infant son deceased at birth.
June graduated from Cooper Township High School in Winburne, Pa and worked in the office at J.H. France Manufacturing Company in Snow Shoe, Pa. She married her cute farmer husband after meeting him while roller skate dancing. She began her new life as the farmer’s wife in southern Clearfield County.  Thirteen years and four children later, she had mastered gardening, canning, freezing and baking.  She loved “digging in the dirt” with her plants and flowers.  She tolerated farm cats, dogs, rabbits and geese.  She hated gathering the eggs, feeding those 4-H pigs and getting a phone call that “the cows are out on the road”!
June spent 26 years serving Clearfield County in the Treasurers Office at the Clearfield County Courthouse.  She worked as a clerk and as the deputy treasurer.
During retirement she kept busy spending time with grandchildren and discovering a new found talent of quilting. She completed several beautiful pieces and also taught others to quilt.
June loved to travel and was able to visit many states, take cruises to Alaska, Bermuda, the Holy Lands and visit several European countries.
She was a member of East Ridge United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and Harmony Grange # 1201 of Westover, Pa. She was one of the original fair board members of the Harmony Grange Fair, working in the fair office for many years. June fought medical and surgical challenges for years, she taught us to stay positive and keep busy. But now she is tired and deserves to rest in peace.  It was a life well lived in faith!!
Due to current COVID and family conditions, there will be no services at this time.
A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. Interment will be private at Harmony Cemetery.

He was born July 25, 1944 to Jesse E. and Helen B. (Patterson) Young in Clearfield.
Bill worked for Hepburnia Coal Company for 25 years before retiring as Tipple Supervisor. He was also employed with Mahaffey Lab for many years. He enjoyed car shows, watching baseball, teasing family and friends. Most of all Bill loved his family, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, family picnics and get-togethers.
Bill is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Linda (Armagost) Young, Grampian; a son William J. Young and wife Sara, San Antonio, TX; two daughters, Tanis Snyder and husband Michael, Mahaffey; Janis Young and fiancé Don Martin, Grampian; eight grandchildren, Brandon Wagner and wife Janae; Taylor Brown and fiancé William Timmons; Daniel and Sydney Brown, Jackson and Madison Young, Rachel and Hannah Snyder, four great grandchildren, Lennon and Layne Wagner, Jaiden and Suzanna Timmons, and his “beautiful dog” Reck.
He is also survived by a sister, Doris Clapsaddle, Mahaffey, two Sisters-In-Law, Dorothy Morris, Woodland, and Nancy Young, Colorado, three special nieces that were additional daughters, Kristi Grant and sons, Tami and Mike Morehouse and Family and Kari and Brian Dimmick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Amy Shirey, Goldie Jones, three brothers, Richard, Edward and James Young, a nephew Jim Grant and two Fur babies, Eddie and Copper.

Obituary Preview: Eric Scott Dixon, 56 of Mahaffey, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born April 20, 1965 to George and Gloria () Dixon in Batavia, NY
Eric was a 1983 graduate of Purchase Line High School. He then entered the Air Force followed by the Army National Guard where he retired from. After he left the Air Force, Eric started a new career working for the Pennsylvania State Correctional Institutions. He worked at Rockview State Prison, Quhannah Boot Camp and retired from SCI Pine Grove in Indiana as a sergeant. He enjoyed listening to music, target shooting, spending time in the outdoors, reading about WWII history, collecting and painting WWII miniatures, most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by two sons, Eric S. Dixon and Matthew L. Dixon, both of College Station, TX, his parents George and Gloria Dixon, DuBois, a sister Erin Cramer and husband Chris, DuBois and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Randy Dixon.

She was born August 31, 1957 to Bruce A. and Barbara L. (Reighard) Bloxdorf in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Stephanie graduated from Tremper H.S. in Kenosha after which she was employed as a secretary at the VA hospital in Chicago. She later enlisted in the U.S. Navy before attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her Bachelor of Nursing Degree. Stephanie was then commissioned as a nurse in the U.S. Air Force. She then worked at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital, before returning to the Air Force as a NICU nurse. After retiring from the Air Force Stephanie returned to Mahaffey to enjoy her retirement. Stephanie loved the outdoors, gardening, drafting, traveling, kayaking, camping, reading and spending time with her family.
She is survived her parents, two sisters, Kelly Williams, Washington D.C., Sandra Bloxdorf, Woodbridge, VA, a brother, Brett Bloxdorf and wife Suzy, Mahaffey, nieces Aubrey Lee Bloxdorf, Sophia Rose Bloxdorf, nephews, Tyler Williams and wife Jess Walker, Seth Williams and wife Sarah Kamm, Uncle Rick Reighard, FL, and Aunt Carol Bloxdorf, WI.

Obituary Preview: Phyllis J Miller, 69, of LaJose, passed away on Tuesday February 16th, 2021 at Embassy of Hillsdale Park after a hard fight with Pancreatic Cancer.
Phyllis was born in Indiana, PA to the late Laird Miller and Rhoda (Coleman) Miller Aikens on December 5th 1951. She was the longtime companion of the late Darrell E. Brady and mother of 4 children.  Phyllis loved her family, her church family and the community she was always trying to help. Phyllis loved to cook and feed people and she spent most of her time crocheting blankets to give.  She loved to sing, dance and make people laugh.
In addition to her parents and longtime companion, Phyllis was preceded in death by her step father Russell (Hank) Aikens and 2 brothers: Kevin Aikens and Russell Aikens Jr.
Phyllis is survived by her Sister LaRue Miller of Homer City, 2 Brothers Laird Miller of Guyton, GA and Keith Aikens of McIntyre.  4 children: Jerrod Stimmel of Swissvale, Katrina Miller of New Kensington, Darice Brady of LaJose and Dawn Taylor and husband Patrick of Canonsburg.  10 Grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. And many others that Phyllis was a mother figure to over her many years.
A Memorial service is to be held at 11:00am on Saturday February 27th at Calvary Chapel Church in Mahaffey with a luncheon to follow. Family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, monetary donations be made to Calvary Chapel Church that assisted Phyllis after her home fire several years ago.
As per Phyllis’s wishes there will be no viewing. Arrangements and cremation are being handled by Waldron Funeral Home in Mahaffey.
The family would like to thank the staff at UPMC Shadyside that provided exceptional care, compassion and love to her while she was there and to the Staff at Embassy of Hillsdale who assisted in her final days.  Phyllis will be greatly missed by all of her family and her many friends.  She lives on through her children and every smile she spread to others. Phyllis had an amazing faith in God and knew she had an eternal life in heaven full of joy and without pain.

She was born January 6, 1931 to Wesley and Ethel (Michaels) Beam in Rossiter.
Dorothy was a lifelong resident of LaJose. She attended the United Methodist Church where she played the piano for over 50 years. She loved growing flowers and could identify each by their botanical names and was very knowledgeable about the local bird species. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, making and giving away many of her creations as gifts. Being very fitness conscious, she enjoyed walking on a regular basis to stay healthy.
She is survived by two sons. Richard Smith and wife Debbie, Womelsdorf, PA, James Smith and wife LuAnn, LaJose. Three grandchildren, Michael Smith and wife Dee, Neal Smith and wife Crystal, and Bethany Spahn and husband Jason, seven great grandchildren, Joey Smith, Julia Smith, Lincoln Beck, Brody Beck, Nathan Beck, Olivia Smith and Lucy Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband James W. Smith, two brothers, Woodrow Beam and Richard “Dick” Beam and a sister, Mary (Beam) Painter.
Friends will be received on Monday, February 1st from 5-7 PM, and on Tuesday, February 2nd from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at the Waldron Funeral Home, 831 Market Street, Mahaffey, PA 15757.
Her son, Pastor James Smith will be officiating.

Alan was born on June 19, 1969 to the late Charles Hewitt and Jacqueline Hewitt, in Clearfield.  He graduated from Purchase Line High School in 1987.  Alan spent 27 years of his life in Orlando, FL doing the things he loved - driving trucks and heavy equipment, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles – before returning to Banner Ridge in Mahaffey, where his heart never left.
Alan was preceded in death by his father.  He is survived by his mother, son Alan (“A.J.”) Hewitt, grandsons Rylan and Kanon, brother David (Jeanne) Hewitt, sister Mary Boyer, brother Thomas (Amber) Hewitt and nephews Riley, Brae, Remy and Cash.

She was born in September 1927 to Chauncey and Alice (Neal) Menear in Punxsutawney.
June was a member of the Smithport United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the former Punxsutawney Order of the Eastern Star. She attended school in Mahaffey, and throughout the many years of her life, she was a seamstress, catalog clerk, bus driver, and antique dealer. Among her hobbies, she really enjoyed going to auctions and yard sales, crafting, and attending the many functions at the Mahoning Hills Senior Center.
She is survived by her son Dennis (Mona) Farmery, a daughter, Deborah (Richard) Hook, daughter-in-law, Grace Farmery, 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sister, Jean (Menear) Hook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wendell “Buzz” Farmery, a son Daniel “Duke” Farmery, a sister, Wilma “Nicky” Curry and brothers-in-law, Ray Curry and John Hook.
Services are private for immediate family only.
Interment will take place at Burnside Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waldron Funeral Home of Mahaffey.

She was employed for many years as a Teaching Assistant retiring from Gloversville Highschool in 2015. She enjoyed music and in her younger years she was a traveling song evangelist.  She loved working with young people and was a camp counselor for many years.  She was a member of the Northville Pilgrim Holiness Church.  She worked on and volunteered for the Edinburg Emergency Squad.

She was born December 26, 1929 to Merle and Susan Byers in Mahaffey. She was an active member of the Cherry Corner Bible Church. Prior to her illness She volunteered at Ridge View Elder Care, playing games and hosting tea parties
for the residents. She was always active in her community, mowing vacant lots, planting flowers or picking up litter. On her daily walks through town. Walking was a large part of her daily routine, at one point in her life, her and a friends Dot Anderson and Helen Hall would walk the old logging roads bright and early every morning. Louise was a 1946 graduate of the Mahaffey High School. In her senior year, she was the head cheerleader and the May Queen. She married John Y. Bakaysa on June 5, 1949 in Mahaffey. They enjoyed 61 years together, until his death on June 22, 2010. Prior to her marriage she worked on her family farm on
“Banner Ridge”, later working for Landy’s Store in Mahaffey where she met her husband. Louise worked in Hyde at Sylvania for a short time and throughout the 1970’s 80’s and 90’s she was a bookkeeper for the family gas station in Mahaffey.
Most important in her life was her faith, pride and enjoyment of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter, Karen S. Corson and husband Jack, South Williamsport, a son John M. Bakaysa Sr. and wife Kasy, Mahaffey, Grandchildren, Scott Corson and wife Kim, Laura Miller and husband Bill, John M. Bakaysa Jr. and wife Marissa, Dr. Alex Bakaysa and fiancée Dr. Melissa Mueller, Brock R. Bakaysa and wife Leah, 9 great grandchildren, two step-grandchildren Hailyn Fye of Las Vegas, and Gunnar Fye of Punxsutawney. A sister Kate, Clearfield, a brother Art and wife Olive, Lancaster, numerous nieces and nephews
and a lifelong friend and classmate, Marge Mitchell, of Baltimore, MD.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Richard and Eugene, a sister Betty Ann and five nephews.

Chuck was born August 21st, 1931 in Stronach, PA. He was the son of Ernest J. McCracken and Mary Pentz McCracken. Chuck was a 1949 graduate of Curwensville High School. He attended Anderson College in Indiana, graduating with a degree in physical education. While in Anderson, he was active in the community, coaching little league and serving as a scout master. His teaching career included Clearfield, West Branch, and Curwensville schools. While teaching he coached track, football, and swimming. He retired from teaching in 1986.
Chuck enjoyed hunting and fishing. Working and driving draft horses were among his favorite activities. He was an active member of Faith Bible Church in Lumber City. His faith was an important aspect of his life. He enjoyed sharing his faith and praying with others.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 69 years Mary Lou Beers McCracken, 3 brothers, Joe, Sam, and Dale, 1 sister, Carla, and his children: Charles L. McCracken (Jennifer) in Washington, Douglas A. McCracken (Nancy) in Pennsylvania, Virginia Kay Rodriquez (Carolos) in Texas, Lou Ann McCracken in Pennsylvania, and Thomas B. McCracken (Fawn) in Minnesota and his grandchildren: Erin Ferro, Meghan McCracken, Douglas McCracken, Daniel McCracken, JC Rodriquez, Alex Rodriquez, Kaitlyn McCracken, Ainee McCracken, and Tessa McCracken, and great-grandchildren: Mason McCracken, Penny Risso, and Luca Ferro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, a brother, and his daughter-in-law.
A private family funeral service was held on June 6th at Faith Bible Church in Lumber City and Interment at Lumber City Cemetery.
