Lucita Dubuisson Isidor - Unknown - February 15, 2022

Departed: 02/15/2022 (Apopka)

Courtenay Charles Escoffery - April 20, 1953 - February 10, 2022

Departed: 02/10/2022 (Apopka)
Obituary Preview: Courtenay Charles St. Elmo Escoffery Sr. was born in Kingston, Jamaica on April 20th, 1953. He had two brothers, Keats and Carl, of which Courtenay was the oldest. He had a voracious appetite for reading which led to his extensive knowledge of many subjects. Courtenay migrated to New York in his late teens where he met his first wife, Phyllis. They had three children: Lauren, Courtenay II, and Schadique. Throughout the years he forged many strong relationships, but none stronger than his relationship with God. Though not perfect, he stayed true to himself and his firmly held beliefs: searing honesty, the pursuit of knowledge and understanding, and a burning desire to understand his creator more.
After 30 beautiful years of marriage, curious to a fault, Courtenay and Phyllis divorced. Courtenay then forged a new path in life that led him to eventually find Grace, with whom he built a life in Florida. He forged meaningful relationships with her two children Nydia and Chris. He had a sharp intellect, a keen spiritual sense, a gregarious spirit, and deep insight. But above all, he wanted to be helpful to anyone he came across, whether his closest friend of many years, someone he just met, or a patient. He had a word of encouragement and a smile to give. He loved to dance with or without a partner and to his own tune. He loved the Lord and awaited the coming of His Kingdom. He was our dad, and he was cool, and we loved him. He will be missed. Hailey A Bacchus - February 28, 1999 - November 30, 2021

Departed: 11/30/2021 (Apopka)
Obituary Preview: Hailey Arielle Danae Bacchus was born on on February 28, 1999 in the early morning to Harold and Danita Bacchus at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando.  Little did anyone know that her light  would shine so bright to so many around the world.  She had an infectious smile, when she was ready that was warm and inviting and could light up a room.  She was educated at home from the time she was born.  By the time she was ready to enter her first school, the former Ingram’s Academy she knew the Lord’s Prayer, the 23rd Psalm, her name, parents name, alphabet, numbers and was learning to read.  The same year she became a member of Children of Joy and sang her first solo in church, Blessed Assurance.  Hailey went on to learn songs and hymns as if the angels of God told her the words.  She returned to homeschooling where she began reading chapter books and developed her math skills.  After her parents could not keep up with her educational strides, the consented to put her in Lake Gem Elementary.  There she learned valuable lessons that woke her up about people.  After a year of growth and many educational battles with administration, she was tested and deemed gifted.  She transferred to Lake Silver Elementary School into the Math Magnet Program, where she excelled and was recognized for her Math excellence.  Upon completion she attended Robert E. Lee Middle School where she became apart of the IB Program.        In August 2013, Hailey entered the Engineering Program at Edgewater High School. During her Junior and Senior years she was a part of the Dual Enrollment Program at Valencia College. Hailey graduated and in August four years later she became a student of Oglethorpe University in Atlanta Georgia.  Here she made many friends and had many different paths within her journey.  With each return home, there was a difference and growth to her journey.  At school, her love increased as she learned more about who she was and who she was guided to become.  It was during this time she decided she was finished with Math and followed the course of Political Science.  She was proud to share her political arguments with her instructors that showed her knowledge, especially when she was correct and they were not.         During her 4 short years at University, she made numerous friends, but she stayed true to her path.  In her Junior year she was asked to join the Collegic 100.  She agreed and her educational and social circle increased to include other students from all over Atlanta.         Hailey’s light and influence is still shining with each day in those she knew, loved, an in those who loved her.          Hailey is survived by her parents, Harold and Danita Bacchus, her brother DaVon, sister Melissa, Grandmothers, Carmin Brathwaite and Tina Greaves, Aunts, (Marianne, Suzanne, Michele) Uncles (Deon, Winston, Emmerson ), nephews (Zamier, Xyion, Royale, Reign, and baby girl) a host of cousins and numerous friends.

Robert Ousley III - March 31, 1953 - October 19, 2021

Departed: 10/19/2021 (Apopka)
Obituary Preview: Celebration of Life Robert Ousley III was born to the late Robert Ousley, Jr and Dorothy Bertha Lou Ousley on March 31, 1953. He was an identical twin to Roger F. Ousley, Sr. who preceded him in death on Aug. 20, 2021. Robert departed this earthly life on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 1:30 PM. He received Christ at an early age and later, by his own account, “heard a verbal call to the ministry” and vowed to dedicate the rest of his life to the teachings of Christ as an ordained minister and hospital care trauma chaplain. Robert was a member of Mt. Sinai Seventh-day Adventist Church at the time of his death. He was an active member of various positions in the church and worked as a trauma chaplain at Orlando Health until his health prevented him from participating and caused his early retirement. Robert served his Country as a U.S. Marine and was a very proud veteran. He received his high school diploma from Jones High. He attended Oakwood College and received his Bachelor of Art Degree in Theology. Robert later went on to attend Memphis Theological Seminary and received his Master of Divinity. He was a Board-Certified Chaplain and was working on his D. Min from Regent School of Divinity but became too ill to continue his studies. Having completed all but his thesis paper, this would be his one regret. Some of Robert’s greatest accomplishments, by his own statements, were being granted ecclesiastical endorsement by the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventist as a Healthcare Chaplain (ACM) and becoming a Board-Certified Chaplain through the Association of Professional Chaplain which allowed him to minister to the many healthcare workers he encountered in the various trauma centers and hospital healthcare workers in general. He would affectionally refer to them as his “healthcare flock.” Robert was blessed that the feeling was mutual, and many would travel his journey of his heart transplant from the beginning to the end. His last hours were spent with many of his trauma room co-workers and friends who rushed to his side. He was “Chap” to many of them and they loved him dearly. Kynaston M Ramsey - February 15, 1946 - October 04, 2021

Departed: 10/04/2021 (Apopka)
Obituary Preview: On February 15, just one day after Valentine’s Day, Conrad and Florence Ramsey, of Barataria, Trinidad, were presented with a very beautiful love gift. They named him Kynaston Mc Donald Ramsey. The name Kynaston, is derived from English, and it means “royal peace settlement.” True to his name, Kynaston bore himself royally, for he knew he was a child of the King as his baptism testified.
Ken, as he was lovingly called, was the only one of the Ramsey siblings to fully embrace a Christian education. After attending Sangre Grande Elementary SDA School, in Trinidad, he advanced and successfully completed his high school studies at Bates Memorial High School. His educational odyssey next ushered him into the illustrious halls of Caribbean Union College (CUC) nestled in Maracas Valley where he graduated with an Associate Degree in Accounting in 1968. He worked at the college in the business office until he felt the urge to continue his studies abroad. His next trip was to migrate to Massachusetts in the United States to attend Atlantic Union College (AUC) where he studied accounting, and graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in1971.
It was at AUC that he met the love of his life, a very beautiful young lady with the cutest smile and most beautiful brown eyes. He was truly smitten, and on August 6, 1972, Carolyn Pace of Niagara Falls, New York was united in holy matrimony to Kynaston McDonald Ramsey, and moved to East Orange, New Jersey. They were two in one, and after 49 years of marriage, death would be the only thing strong enough to temporarily separate them. To their union, two lovely children were born: Kyria, named from the refrain of the organ piece, “In a Monastery Garden”, one of Ken’s favorite organ pieces, and Karlyn, a combination of Ken and Carolyn.
In 1978, Ken decided he wanted to pursue graduate studies, and therefore, they made a move to attend Andrews University in Michigan as the next educational challenge. There he pursued his graduate studies and obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 1980.
Ken was a true soldier of the cross of Christ Jesus. He really loved, and gave his all completely to, God. So, whether it was as treasurer at Patmos Chapel or Mt. Dora, or as an ordained elder, Sabbath school teacher, pianist or organist, he did all to the glory of God. He was a spiritual leader and advisor to many. Numerous people sought his spiritual advice, and listened attentively to his words of wisdom and the meaning of numbers. Who could ever forget his spirited, impressive, “Call to worship “ on Sabbath mornings; he was so filled with God’s Spirit that the congregation in turn, felt God’s Spirit as he called them to worship!! Ken never hesitated when asked to preach on a Wednesday night or Sabbath morning. His life was fully intertwined with God, Who was his Branch.
He worked as a financial analyst from 1973-1978, at The World Trade Center, but gave it up to go to graduate school, and later worked for the Lord at the Adventist Health System/Sunbelt, now re-named, AdventHealth. There he worked for 25 years until his health declined and he reluctantly retired.
Besides preaching, teaching, encouraging, and helping others, Ken was well rounded. He enjoyed exercising, and he took long walks when he was able.. He enjoyed eating delicious vegetarian food and cakes from his wife, and the coconut sweetbread his daughter and sisters made. His brother, Conrad Jr. reflected on his skill in Cricket. He reminisced how Ken could catch a fast ball with an ungloved hand. Ken was also a good batsman and soccer player, and was a ping pong player that his sister could never beat! But he and Conrad Jr. matched each other.
His siblings remember climbing the highest mountain peak in Trinidad, El Cerro del Arripo, and also the fun they had as they hiked trails to river bathe. They fully recall the thrill of hiking the Maracas hills with Ken, scooping up the cold spring water to quench their thirst as they trekked over to Maracas Bay. They certainly had fun with their big brother.
His sister, Carol, recalls, “How could I forget his masterful tutoring skills? Because I talked too much in math class, I finally realized I would have to pay for my follies. So, the last month before my high school exit exam, commonly known as GCE O’ levels, I told my brother my predicament!! He did not scold, but patiently taught me the math, especially geometry and algebra, in one month that I should have learned in five years! And you know: I passed, thanks to my big brother, Ken! He was also my spiritual advisor as he answered my questions on the Bible and about God.” Ken also enjoyed writing, wrote countless sermons and articles, one of which was accepted in The Review, a Seventh-day Adventist magazine. During his retirement, he wrote and published two books, When God Speaks and The Power of Numbers (2009). Unfortunately, this is where his research and interest on how God uses numbers stopped because of the progression of the illness.
Ken enjoyed listening to and playing the organ. His brother, Conrad Jr. remembers him playing the Wurlitzer, Hammond and pipe organs. His favorite organ pieces were, “ In A Monastery Garden” by Albert Ketbey and “Toccata Fugue in D minor” by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Ken leaves to celebrate his life and legacy, his faithful wife of 49 years, Dr. Carolyn Pace Ramsey; his devoted daughter, Kyria Ramsey-Dukes (Crandall); his handsome son, Karlyn Ramsey (Dr. Kate); his loving sister, Dr. Carol Ramsey (Aubrey); his thoughtful, generous brother, Conrad Ramsey, Jr.; his brother-in-law, Dr George King; his nephews: Ernest Wells, Jr.; Dr. Kurt King (Dr. Andrea); Kevin King; five grandchildren: Carissa and Karine Dukes; Carter Ramsey-Haynes, Cadence and Callie Ramsey; grandniece, Lauryn King, grandnephew, Jonathan King and numerous cousins, in-laws, friends, and well-wishers. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Conrad and Florence Ramsey; his younger sister, Germyn King; his younger brother, Vaughn Ramsey; his sister-in-law, Anita Owens Ramsey; and his nephew, Ronald Wells, and numerous other relatives.
This valiant soldier of Christ, a hero in Israel is now at rest. He has fought a good fight. He has finished the faith. Therefore, there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness which the righteous Judge will give him when He comes to gather His loved ones home. Heaven at last! Heaven, at last!!! Even so, come Lord Jesus.

Irene B. Sealie Nelson - February 10, 1943 - September 23, 2021

Departed: 09/23/2021 (Apopka)
Obituary Preview: Irene Berne “Merl” Sealie was born to Master Carlton and Daisy Sealie on February 10, 1943 in the parish of Hanover, in Sandy Bay, Jamaica. She was the second of 14 children.
During her early years, it was a joy for Merl to roam around the countryside and Jamaican beaches. After matriculating through school in Jamaica, she moved to England to pursue her Nursing education. She received her nursing certificate in London but decided to go back to school to pursue her nursing degree, and was an alumnus of Florida International University where she later obtained her Bachelors in Nursing.
As a young adult, while pursuing her nursing education in London, England, she met and later married the late Raphael Nelson in August 1966. From their union five children were born; Elaine, Maurice, Yvonne, Cynthia, and Ilean. Irene and Ray would begin their family in England, relocate to Brooklyn, New York; Ocala, Florida and finally settle in Miami, Florida.
Irene believed strongly that their children should receive a Christian education and made many sacrifices to put them through the Union Academy and other similar educational institutions. Mom always pushed and encouraged us to put our best forward and to trust in God. She would diligently ensure the children were ready at the beginning of each school year by lining them up to administer Merl’s anti-cold potion which was made up of fresh aloe from her garden, a tablespoon of fisherman’s and cod liver oil. Only after they swallowed the potion, would she give them a taste of orange juice to replace the medicine taste with something pleasant.
Mom loved gardening and grew papaya, bananas, ackee, avocado, callaloo, mint, aloe, leaf of life, lemons/limes and would spend a lot of time in the yard caring for the garden. As a seamstress she saved money by sewing some of our clothing and even taught some of us how to sew using the sewing machine and by hand for things like repairing hems and buttons. Some of her spare time was spent doing needlepoint and crocheting, but the one thing she passed on to some of us was how to cook.
As an active member of the Mt. Pisgah SDA church, she was involved with Health ministry, and served in numerous capacities including a dedicated Sabbath School Superintendent, Sabbath School Teacher and Choir Member. She and Ray were known for visiting the local nursing homes after church services with their children in tow. She believed strongly in giving back and showing kindness to others. She is often remembered for inviting a visitor home after services adding more mouths to feed at the dinner table. Later Irene became an active member of the North Miami Church and years later, the Norland Seventh-day Adventist Church where she was active in the prayer ministry. On Thursday afternoon, September 23, 2021, Irene fell asleep peacefully in Jesus our Lord in Miami, Florida, awaiting the voice of the Life giver. She was preceded in death by her husband Raphael Nelson, and leaves to cherish her memories five children, C. Elaine (Stephen) French, Maurice, Yvonne (Christopher), Cynthia (Michael), and Ilean; a stepdaughter Silvia; two siblings - Barry and Rose; a sister-in-law – Hyacinth, an aunt Verona Palmer, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several uncles, nieces, cousins, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by eleven siblings Floral arrangements may be sent directly to the church by Friday October 15th at: Norland SDA Church 1175 NW 183rd Street Miami, Florida 33169 ATTN: Nelson Funeral (305) 651-7722
