Born in Boston, she was a daughter of the late Clarence J. and Beatrice (Plantier) Bennett. Flo worked for J.B. Edwards Uniforms for many years, retiring as supervisor. Devoted to her family, she loved cooking delicious meals for them and never missed a special occasion like birthdays and anniversaries. She enjoyed getting her hair and nails done, listening to country music, dancing, going on drives, especially to the Scituate Lighthouse, and watching her favorite sports teams. Flo also loved and doted on her cats. She was the glue to her family and will be greatly missed.
Florence was the devoted wife of the late Richard A. Day Sr.; loving mother of Richard A. Day Jr. and his wife Carly of N.H., Lisa Simione of FL, and the late Donna McNair and Glenn Fredette; dear Nana of Lyndsay (and Tim), Glenn Jr., Gino, Anthony, Adam, Michael, Evan, and Amya; great-grandmother of Austin, Imani, Isabella, and Rayna; sister of Cathy Paress of Plymouth, and the late Clara Bennett and Aline D. Obituary Preview: Leroy Keys Sr., 68, of Brockton, passed away on April 26, 2022 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Trenton, North Carolina, a son of the late Richard and Olivia (Whitfield) Keys and after graduating from high school, served in the U.S. Navy at the end of the Vietnam War era. Leroy resided in Brockton for over 35 years. Leroy began his law enforcement career as a Metropolitan Police Officer and transitioned to a Massachusetts State Trooper. In total, his law enforcement career spanned thirty years in which he was stationed mostly out of the Milton and South Boston barracks.
Throughout his career, Leroy was a proud member of H-Troop, the Community Action Team, and served as the Sergeant In Arms for the West Seldon Street and Vicinity Neighborhood Association for over 20 years, before retiring in 2015.
Leroy was proud of his family, his work, and community. He coached YMCA basketball and baseball and enjoyed fishing and hunting; he was also a member and served as the Judge Advocate of the William E. Carter American Legion Post 16 in Mattapan.
Leroy was the beloved husband of Phyllis (Burns) Keys for over 35 years; loving father of Natasha Palmer (and her husband Robert) of New Jersey, Barbara Baylor of New York, Mercedes Porter of Maryland, Lareeca Sampson (and her husband Jared) of North Carolina, and Leroy Keys Jr. of Brockton; devoted grandfather of Maya and Zoe Palmer, Alan and James Sampson, and Saviour Rudolph and Ryan Johnson Jr.; dear brother of Gladys Meadows, Larsene Steele, Richard Donald Keys, William Ned Keys , Joseph Glen Keys and Gary Donnell Keys, all of North Carolina, Calvin Leon Keys of Indiana, and the late James Welton Keys and Pauline Steele; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other family members.

Mitchelson, 83, of Avon passed away on April 22, 2022 after a brief illness.  Born in Bath, Maine he was the son of the late Thomas and Frances (Losier) Mitchelson and brother of the late Bruce Mitchelson. He graduated from Braintree High School in 1956 and went on to earn two degrees in Engineering from Northeastern University.  He also served in the U.S. Navy. Before retiring, Stew had a successful career as a cost scheduling engineer at several large, local engineering firms.
Stew was a devoted husband to Olga for 54 years, dedicated father to Mark, Alexandra and his son-in-law Brian, and doting grandfather to Helen, Charlotte, Evelyn and Andrew. He was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, spending many years serving both on the church council and in the church choir. He was a Mason, maintaining a membership with the St. George Lodge for 50 years. Stew loved a round of golf, a cold beer, a good joke, Steely Dan and Dave Brubeck, delivering sprinkled doughnuts to his grandkids, and spending time in the company of family and friends.

Obituary Preview: Markinston Thomas (Mark) was born on February 7, 1990 in Stoughton, MA. He lived a life filled with music, laughter and an appreciation for cars. He had an infectious laugh and sense of humor. Mark was a talented musician and drummer attending and winning many festivals. In addition, he was the lead drummer in the family band “Bethlehem”. He was a car enthusiast having an appreciation for older classics and a unique perspective on life. Mark was friendly towards everyone he interacted with and left a positive impression.
At the age of 32 years old he gave his last breath on April 16, 2022. He is survived by his father Walson Thomas, his older brother James Thomas and younger sister Marly W. Thomas. Mark also has many cousins, aunts, and uncles in New York, Connecticut, Florida, Texas, Aruba, Haiti, and France. Markinston was predeceased by his mother Marie (Etienne) Thomas. Let us continue to remember the impact he had on his family, friends and community.

Obituary Preview: William T.  Madden, Jr., 65, of Florida, formerly of Brockton and East Wareham, passed away suddenly on April 12, 2022.
William, known by Bill to family and friends, was born on February 28, 1957. He worked with the Roxbury, Brockton and West Palm Beach Veteran Administration Medical Centers over a more than 40 year career.
Bill loved gardening, especially growing orchids and was a director for the Tropical Orchid Society based in West Palm Beach, FL. He was previously an enthusiastic singer and a member of a choral society in Massachusetts. He also enjoyed fishing and would take many trips with friends. Bill loved to travel, spending much of his time taking cruises around the Caribbean.
After retiring in July 2021, Bill shared his desire to travel even more, saying it was “time to live my life with a compass and not a clock!” He recently returned from a 15-day cruise through the Southern Caribbean where he celebrated his 65th birthday with friends.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, William T. and Beatrice (Bilodeau) Madden. He is survived by his sister, Linda Fountain of Middleboro, sister Karen Burns of Brockton, brother Stephen Madden of Carver, sister-in-law Janice Madden of Carver, brother-in-law David Fountain of Florida, brother-in-law Harry Burns of Brockton and several nieces and nephews.

John J. "Bubba" Belcher - January 25, 1936 - April 08, 2022

Obituary Preview: John J. “Bubba” Belcher, 86, of Braintree, passed away peacefully April 8, 2022. Native of Weymouth, he was one of eight, a son of the late Reginald and Mary (Rielly) Belcher. After marriage to Maria (Nelson) Belcher from Braintree they had three sons. His early jobs were as a taxi driver, for a moving company, and in upholstery; and he played football for the Weymouth town team. He proudly served the Town of Braintree first as an auxiliary police officer then after graduating from the State Police Academy permanently for 32 years until 1995. His storied career earned him letters of commendation and a few close calls. Bubba worked hard and played hard which took a toll on him, and retired earlier than he wished but made the best of his time.
Bubba was a longtime member of the Blue Knights Chapter 1 and had enjoyed weightlifting contests, demolition derbies and Harley-Davidson motorcycle riding. He resided in Brockton for many years where his sons grew up. Later on he lived in Plymouth on Great Herring Pond where he remodeled and constructed his like-new home with Maria. They enjoyed attending Bay Auctions weekly in Buzzards Bay, dining out and taking rides. He was also an auto enthusiast all his life, having owned a variety of makes and models over the decades. With Maria he cared for their beloved pets, especially German Shepherds and Siamese cats. While living in Kingston his devoted wife Maria died unexpectedly in 2008, leaving all her family devastated. Bubba honored her by caring for her last beloved cat Oscar until his passing last year.
Bubba returned to Braintree to reside at Independence Manor 7 years ago and participated at bingo and mealtimes there. He enjoyed daily Dunkin coffee shop visits with old and new friends and dining out with his late dear friend Ethel Pappas. His will to be self-sufficient and enjoy life in spite of his declining mobility was respected by all who knew him. His love of cooking good food kept him going strong.
John joins in eternity his late wife Maria, companion Ethel and siblings Mary D’Andrea, Lillian Bryan, Charles, James, William and Reginald Belcher; he leaves sons John Belcher Jr., his wife Melodee and their family, and James Belcher, all of Florida, and Gregory Belcher and his wife Lisa of Brockton;  grandson Ryan Belcher and his wife Cassandra and granddaughter Julie Nadell and her husband Rick; great-granddaughter Nora Nadell, great-grandsons Silas Belcher and Myles Nadell, sister Kay Rudack and her husband Paul, and many nieces and nephews.

David L. Williams - June 08, 1958 - April 07, 2022

Obituary Preview: David Leon “Devine” Williams, 63, of Avon, passed away on April 7, 2022. He was born three minutes after his twin Clyde on June 8, 1958, in Hamilton, Ohio just outside of Cincinnati to Quincy and Jerline Williams.
He grew up in Boston and enjoyed hanging with family and friends. He was a game player who loved to play video games, chess, cards, and pool. Devine loved to laugh. He could pull a movie quote out of nowhere for almost any occasion to inject some comedy into a discussion. He was the most outgoing sibling and made friends at the drop of a hat.
Devine wore many hats in his working life including with Teradyne and IBM. After moving to Brockton, he got into the convenience store business in 1988 and eventually co-owned a store in Brockton.
After he was diagnosed with cancer, he was immediately determined fighting through it. He mostly kept his spirits up through the years of hospital stays, rehab, chemotherapy, and dialysis.
It was late in his life that he realized his passion for travel and discovered a love for cruises as well. He loved being with his children and grandchild and always looked forward to spending time with them.
Devine is survived by his daughters Tamika, Dacarra and Shalindi, grandson Diogenes “DJ”, his sisters Kim and Karen, his brothers Rudy, Quincy, Clyde (twin), Douglas and Job, and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth E. Bump - November 11, 1927 - April 04, 2022

Obituary Preview: Ruth E. (Moynihan) Bump, 94, of Brockton, longtime resident of Whitman, passed away peacefully at Bay Pointe Rehab Center. She was the daughter of the late Alexander Jaudaitis and Bertha (Johnson)(Jaudaitis) Moynihan and adopted daughter of Arthur Moynihan and grew up in the Montello section of Brockton. She graduated from Brockton High School in 1945. As an only child, she was close to her cousins, the Johnson family, in the Lithuanian Village in Brockton. Ruth worked at Knapp Brothers Shoe after attending Chandler Secretarial School in Boston. After her marriage to Carroll E. Bump, she raised her family in Whitman and was an active parent at St. Bridget School and Cardinal Spellman High School. She helped Carroll operate Bump Funeral Home and Regal Redemption Center, both in Whitman, and retired at the age of 80.
Ruth was known for her great sense of style, even while sorting bottles and cans, her sense of fun, and for keeping a picture-perfect home and yard. She enjoyed senior league bowling, played many winning hands of poker, and loved dressing in costume for Halloween and parties. She resided at Emmanuel House, now Connemara, where she became known as “First Lady” for her stylish attire and outgoing personality, until she entered Bay Pointe, just before the start of the pandemic.

Obituary Preview: Shanice Tamara Johnson, 33, a native of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, recently of Brockton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 31, 2022, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Shanice was well educated, earning an undergraduate degree from Winston-Salem State University and a master’s degree from North Carolina A&T State University. She worked in finance and was also an educator, offering tutoring services through “Shanice the Geek”. A ANBF Bikini Pro, Shanice was into selfcare and fitness and was a 2019 Body Building Champion.
Shanice never allowed her illness to interfere with living life to the fullest as she accomplished so much in such a short time. Even during times of struggle, she remained a staunch advocate for others, especially women of color navigating breast cancer battles. She was the host of “Love, Her will” podcast where she openly discussed the racial disparities in healthcare and offered insightful words of power and encouragement. Her love and light are part of the great legacy she has left behind.
Shanice was the cherished daughter of Sabina C. (Kimbrough) Johnson-McClelland and her husband Donald McClelland of Newport News, Virginia and Rev. Alfred L. Johnson Sr. and his wife Tina Johnson of Ridgeland, Mississippi; beloved sister of Alfred L. Johnson Jr., Evana Johnson, and Damon Johnson; loving aunt of Zenyla Johnson-Stewart and Samala Johnson-Kearney; Godmother of Allie  Mercurius and Marlee Mercurius. Shanice also leaves many dear aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, including her aunt Tarma Johnson, cousin Adebayo Aderinkomi, and her Alpha Kapa Alpha Sorority, Inc. sisters.

She is also survived by her three adoring grandchildren, Kristen Donovan and her husband Matthew, Amie Gemelli and her husband Brian, and Edward Lytle; and by her four great-grandchildren, James Donovan, Patrick Donavan, Caroline Gemelli and Daisy Gemelli; and two nieces.
Caroline, as she was always known, graduated from Avon High School and the New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse in a number of different settings until her children were born when she became a full-time homemaker. At the age of 54, she proudly graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English from Wellesley College. She wrote poetry, which was a lifelong passion.
She lived in North Easton, Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Honolulu, HI, and Cohasset before settling in Westwood in 1984 where she lived for the remainder of her life.
She loved to travel throughout the United States and Canada and made several trips to Europe. She created a warm and inviting home. A private funeral was held.

Born in Fogo, Cabo Verde, he was a son of the late Manuel “NeNe” and Linda (Daluz) Fontes. Antonio was skilled with his hands, from shoemaking, home renovations to carpentry, he was a true craftsman.
Cunuta could often be found storytelling, watching CNN, discussing politics, playing Bisca, or spending time with his grandchildren. He valued education and played a significant role in not only his children’s lives but also grandchildren’s. Antonio was welcoming to all and enjoyed socializing, listening to music, and eating traditional Cape Verdean cuisine. His favorite movie quote was “When I'm wrong, I say I'm wrong”. He was a genuine man and will be deeply missed.
Cunuta was the beloved husband of the late Eurides (Veiga) Fontes, whom he lovingly called “Nocas”; loving father of Mirandolina, Clara Gracinda, Elizabeth and her husband Luis Andrade, Susan, and the late Luis Manuel Fontes; dear grandfather of Ariel, Elyssa, Emily, Lue, Alydia, Morgan, Eric, Brooke and Anaya; cherished great-grandfather of Lola; brother of Maria D. “Biu” Fontes, Maria P. “MaMa” Fontes, Rita “Pepinha” Lopes, and the late Manuel G. “Totinho” Fontes; and a nephew of Aguinaldo “GuiGui” Daluz. Known as “Tio Antonio” to many, he leaves several nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and friends to mourn his passing.

Born on August 26th during America’s bicentennial year, Angelle’s proud parents brought their baby daughter from Goddard Hospital to their home in Brockton where she celebrated her childhood with the two brothers she now leaves behind, Arthur Barry Doten Jr. of Bridgewater and Brian Michael Doten of Raynham.
She attended Brockton High School and Massasoit Community college. Angelle was a lover of poetry and had a number of her writings published over the years.
Angelle was employed by several local businesses including the Fuller Craft Museum, Stop and Shop, and Christo’s Restaurant. However, her favorite job and greatest joy was being Mom to her two children, Logan (Violet Elise) Allen and Kyle (Elana Josephine) Allen, whom she raised with her beloved life partner Kevin Allen, all who are dearly missing her.
Angelle leaves behind her Dad (Arthur) Barry Doten of Brockton; her aunts Gail Cripps, Nancy Doten, and Lori Meyers, her uncle (Raymond) Curtis Doten; her friend Michael Dias; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Angelle was pre-deceased by her mother Kathleen Bonaparte.
