Mary was an avid hobbyist who poured herself into each one. She was always engaged in several at the same time. Reading, sewing, gardening, painting, lapidary, jewelry making, stained glass, quilting, knitting, and rock hunting were just a few of them. Many she shared with her sisters and brothers. All of them had artistic talents.

In 1982 she lost her partner in life, George. She never sought another. They were always doing something together. Travel was at the top of it all. Their time together was short but rich and he was forever missed.

Retired teacher for Southgate’s Anderson High School. Mainly, she was an English and literature teacher but was called on to teach many other subjects and received many awards for her work there. She was also involved in military recruitment through the schools and carried on that relationship even after retiring.

Most recently she was involved in the Daughters of the American Revolution. Something she discovered through her genealogy research and was proud to discover she was eligible to join. She often traveled to Salt Lake City to continue this study. She was a member of the Red Hat’s and many others throughout her life. College sorority sister too.

Travel was always an element of her career and hobbies. She integrated travel into everything and often went on adventures with her travel buddies. Her good friend Clare was often one of them. She saw a lot of the world and at the end of each trip she was already planning the next.

Of all the activities her family was number one. I don’t think she ever missed anything when it involved family. She was never late for anything. Usually early and stayed until the end. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would mention them in every conversation regardless of the subject matter.

Right up to the end she kept her sense of humor. At times she would have difficulty speaking but would still express herself with the “twirling finger”. While always polite, sarcasm wasn’t off limits, as long as it wasn’t hurtful or mean spirited. She mastered this. The rotating finger was to say “big deal!”. You couldn’t help but laugh every time. In her final days in the hospital her daughter (Linda) asked “how do you feel?”. She responded, “with my fingers”.

Rasmieh was the sister of the late Issa, Sister Hilda, Mousa, the late Fahad, Ghazi, Riham, Ghaleb, and Dr. Ratib.

Rasmieh was preceded in death by her parents Najib and Fada Haddad. Rasmieh will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Visitation Tuesday May 14th from 2:30 to 6:00 pm, mass lead by Father Zibgniew at 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at St. Barbara Catholic Church (13534 Colson St, Dearborn, MI 48126).

On Wednesday May 15th, a final viewing will be held at 10 am followed by the Funeral mass at 11am held at St. Barbara followed by final prayers and burial at St. Hedwig Cemetery (23755 Military Rd, Dearborn Heights, MI 48127). Rose Mary Salvetti - December 03, 1929 - April 24, 2024

Obituary Preview: Salvetti, Rose Mary (Kobza) age 94, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024, in Dearborn, Michigan after a brief period of

hospice care. Rose Mary, affectionately known as “Rosebud,” was born on December 3, 1929, in the small coal mining town of Jeddo, PA. She moved to the booming city of Detroit, MI in the late 1940’s, working as a secretary for Ford Motor Co. In May of 1961 she married Thomas Salvetti (of Savoie, France). During their 49 years of marriage, Thomas and Rosebud created many happy memories with family and friends, including French dinners, pool parties, holiday celebrations, Sunday spaghetti suppers, poker parties, pinochle games, and frequent travel. She was the fun mom who piled the neighborhood kids into her station wagon for trips to the ice cream shop or swimming pool.

Rose Mary was a force of nature who brought laughter, and a bit of mischief, to every occasion. She was both a modern working woman and a consummate homemaker, with a seemingly endless supply of verve and enthusiasm. She recently mentioned some items left on her bucket list! She had true joy for life.

She worked for over 30 yrs as a secretary with the Dearborn Public School system, the highlight being her time as “Miss Rose Mary” at Snow Elementary School. Her retirement in 1994 did not slow her down. She attended daily mass at St. Martha, volunteered for 20 yrs at Henry Ford Medical Center oncology, taught senior water aerobics at the Dearborn Community Center, took tap dancing lessons, and passionately tended to her flower garden. Rose Mary had a gift for nurturing old friendships and making new ones, well into her final years.

Rose Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Theresa Kobza, her 7 older siblings, and her dear husband, Thomas. She is survived by her devoted son, Christopher, and treasure of a daughter-in-law, Michelle, as well as her loving daughter, Monique, and ever reliable son-in-law, Eric Scheel. The great joy of her life was being Meme to grandchildren Thomas and Adelina Scheel. She is survived by countless nieces and nephews, and their spouses and children.

Visitation Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 2 – 8pm at the Dearborn Chapel of Voran Funeral Home, 23701 Ford Road. In state Monday, March 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, 16101 Rotunda Dr. in Dearborn; 11 a.m. funeral mass to follow.

Frank J. Piontek - September 14, 1928 - April 09, 2024

Obituary Preview: Frank, the second youngest of 17 children born to Polish immigrant parents, was raised in the coal mining town of Windber, Pennsylvania. Like his brothers, Frank was destined for work in the coal mines but instead joined the Army during WW II at the age of 17 and served in the Philippines. After the war, he moved to Detroit, Michigan to live with his brother Henny. He worked in construction, on auto assembly lines and later worked with the City of Dearborn for 30 years until retirement.

Frank met his wife Dolores, through a good friend and neighbor from Windber, Steve, who had also moved to Detroit after the war. He was married to Dolores for 58 years, until her death in 2010. They had three children, Frank (Buff), Susan and Danny, and lived a life centered around his family. He often worked two or three jobs to provide for his children and also to generously give to many charities to help less fortunate people. In addition, he routinely volunteered at a Detroit soup kitchen and after feeding those who came in for their dinner, he would drive around Detroit bringing food to homeless people who lived behind buildings and under bridges.

Frank and Dolores loved taking their kids, many of their nieces and nephews and neighborhood kids to parks and events around town and on an annual camping trip to Camp Dearborn in the summer. In the winter they would load the car with kids to go sledding and ice-skating. They always had a car full of kids wherever they went. After the kids were grown, Frank and Dolores enjoyed going to flower shows, visiting the Detroit riverfront for summer concerts and festivals, going to the Ann Arbor Art Fair, the Redford Theater and any other place that had flowers, live music or just a positive atmosphere. They also enjoyed going to the Fox Theatre and one year took his family to see The Rockettes Christmas Show.

They devotedly visited Minnesota twice a year after Sue, Dan and Buff moved there for jobs. Frank not only enjoyed being a father, but Grandpa was a title he also embraced. He knew how to delight his grandchildren, Jeff and Jenny, with play, fun outings and they still remember the wonderful adventure stories he told them each night.

Frank’s declining health necessitated a move to Minnesota where he was lovingly cared for by Sue, Dan & Mollie and Buff & Mary for many years.

Visitation Tuesday April 23, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. with the service to be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Dearborn Chapel of Voran Funeral Home 23701 Ford Rd. (313-278-5100). Interment St. Hedwig Cemetery.

George Mihailoff, 91, of Ashburn, Virginia, and formerly of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan passed away on April 7, 2024 at Inova Loudoun Hospital, with Nevena Mihailoff, his devoted wife of 50 years, by his side.

Born on April 3, 1933, George was the middle of three siblings. He is preceded in death by his parents, Traiko and Todorka Mihailoff, and two sisters, Violet Mihailoff and Margaret Sheridan. He is survived by his wife, Nevena Mihailoff; his daughter, Laura (& Frank) Krajewski; grandchildren, Michael and Paul Krajewski; and nieces, Ann Marie (& Ken) Koch, Yvonne (& Mark) Cashman, and Lauren and Megan Cashman.

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, he graduated Cass Tech High School in 1950. He joined the United States Army for two years. Then, he attended Wayne State University and graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He later returned to Wayne State University for a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He launched his Engineering career working as a draftsman with his Uncle Pete (Peter Petkoff) at Smith, Hinchman & Grylls. Much of his professional life was spent leading electrical installations and design/build operations for General Motors, Detroit Diesel Allison and Beaumont Hospital.

George met the love of his life in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1972, while visiting a friend and relatives. They were engaged shortly thereafter.

In his younger years, George enjoyed travelling, swimming in the back yard, playing racquetball with his colleagues, and playing softball with his daughter and dog, Snow Belle. Ronald then went on to serve as deacon at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church from July 1990 to August 2016. Ronald then became Director of the Permanent Deaconate in the Archdiocese of Detroit from October 2000 to July 2004. Ronald obtained his BSEE and MSEE from Wayne State University. He was also an avid golfer and sailor.
