Obituary Preview: White Island Pond-Richard Ness passed away peacefully on April 10th, 2022.  He was born on April 30th, 1953 to Herb & Judy Ness in Astoria, Oregon. Rick graduated from W. Bridgewater High in 1971 and spent one year at Wentworth Institute before marrying Tina Holmgren in 1972.Rick worked at Shiretown Ford in Plymouth MA for many years as a mechanic and later a salesman until he started his own contracting business.  Over a course of many years, he has built houses, remodeled and was the neighborhood handyman for so many.  He was known to fix anything and always took any call for help, morning, noon or the middle of the night it didn't matter he was there.He is survived by his wife Tina; his son, Erik and his wife Becky, his daughter, Amy and her husband, Dan; his grandchildren Daniel and Karilyn; his sisters Linda and Donna; and many nieces and nephews.  Rick is predeceased by his brother Thomas and nephew Timothy.Rick was a friend to everyone on White Island Pond and we all relied on his endless knowledge and kind heart.  Rick loved to fish on the pond and play horseshoes.  He also was known to gamble a bit and loved going to the Casino or just heading to the local spot to play Keno.  To know Ricky was to love him.  He was a true family man and a friend to all. Obituary Preview: Marion-Richard D. Ouellette, 70, passed away at Somerset Ridge Skilled Nursing Facility on Friday, April 8, 2022, after a short illness. Richard was the son of the late Dona E. and M. Yvette (Jean) Ouellette.  A life-long resident of Marion, Richard was the proprietor of Guaranteed Pest Control Company.  A long-time family owned and operated company established by his father.  He enjoyed his plants, birds and was a member of the Marion Social Club.  He was  always willing to help out a friend if he could.He is survived by his three sisters, Donna Anderson, (John) of Mattapoisett, his twin sister Susan Charbonneau of Lakeville and Karen Ayres, (Joseph) of Marion.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, relatives and good friends.  He was the brother of the late Gene E. (Reid) also of Wareham.  Robert was born in Boston the son of the late Joseph P. and Barbara C. (Milliken) Connolly.Robert was a Vietnam era veteran of the USMC.   He was a very kind and caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who took great care of his loving wife Marjorie of 50 years. An avid Harley Davidson Motorcycle enthusiast and loyal NE Patriots fan who Loved his Yorkie pup AlfieHe is also survived by his children; Gerald Crockett of Randolph, Theresa Delaney of FL, Christine Fournier of Onset, Patricia Hanley of Maine, his siblings; Joseph P. She attended and graduated from  Wareham Public Schools.  She first worked as an Ice Cream Scooper at Petersen’s Ice Cream in Marion and later retired as an Operator from New England Telephone & Telegraph after 30 years and was a member of the New England Telephone Company Pioneers. She loved spending time with her grand and great grandchildren.  She always enjoyed celebrations and gatherings with family and friends,  a good card game, puzzle, Sudoku, Parcheesi, the New England Patriots, a good Scavenger Hunt and her trips to FloridaShe is survived by her son Robert Davis and his wife Carolyn of Marion,  grandchildren: Justine Iacaponi and her husband Brian of NC, Brandon Davis and Bethany Davis both of Marion.  Great Grandchildren Cody, Bryce, Ashton and Skylar.  She was the sister of the late Robert Grassi.

Obituary Preview: Scott Adams Fisher, 88, died peacefully at his home in Onset, Massachusetts, on January 31, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Laura Fisher, his son Christian Fisher, daughter in law Michele McKeown Fisher, and his daughter Alexandra Bartsch, as well as  his grandchildren Heather, Amanda, Margaret and Nathaniel Fisher and Anastasia Bartsch.  He was the brother of the late Sanford L. Fisher Jr.Dr. Fisher lived a long and  extraordinary life. He was born in 1933 in Somerville, Massachusetts, the son of the late Sanford L. and Agnes A. (Finn) Fisher Sr. and graduated from Somerville High School where he has been a leader in alumni activities for more than 70 years. He went on to Graceland College,  Boston University, Babson Institute where he earned an MBA and Harvard University where he earned a doctorate in education. Dr. Fisher has had remarkable success in several fields including business, real estate and as president of Fisher College, an institution originally founded by his grandfather M.C. Fisher in 1903. He was also the longest serving trustee of Fisher College and was chairman of the board for many years. He is a past president of the Rotary Club of Boston, director and past president of the National Council of Independent Junior Colleges, director of the American Association of Community and Junior colleges, chaplain of the Point Independence Yacht Club, a lecturer in the United States Power Squadron, Charles River Flotilla, and a member of the Society of Founders  and Patriots of America. He has also been trustee and director as of numerous professional and civic organizations and worked tirelessly for his family, his community, and his country.Between college and graduate school, Dr. Fisher was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy, stationed in the Pacific, under the Commander of the Amphibious Forces based at Coronado, California. His ship was an amphibious personnel auxiliary which carried 42 landing boats, transporting initial assault Marines to the beach. They staged assault landings on the beach just south of the Del Coronado Hotel. At that time, he met Laura, a recent graduate of the University of Southern California, who was attending the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority convention at the Del Coronado Hotel. They have been married for 64 years.In his younger days, Dr. Fisher was a competitive swimmer, competing on several swim teams in the Boston area including the Somerville YMCA.  At Boston University he rowed varsity crew and made lifelong friends with the “Puddle Pushers”.  As an adult he enjoyed playing competitive tennis near his home in Lexington, Massachusetts and led the Nine Holers golf league at the Foxfire Community in Naples Florida. For his entire life he loved the sea and was an avid sailor with many boats He sailed the family's sloop “Laura E.” from its home port in Onset, Massachusetts to Nova Scotia, Maine, and to Grenada with family and friends. He has generously shared his interests with his community and hundreds of YMCA campers, friends, and family have learned from him how to swim, sail, play tennis, golf  and other useful skills.Dr. Fisher maintained a positive attitude towards his life and achievement in all fields. In 1978 he was diagnosed with terminal cancer and told that he had less than six months to live. It was God's will that he survived another 44 years, grateful for every day and for the physicians in Naples, Florida, and at Massachusetts General Hospital who have cared for his health so well and so long.Upon his retirement, and with the encouragement of his California-born wife, Scott and Laura became snowbirds and enjoyed the beautiful city of Naples, Florida,  each winter.  In the summer months they returned to the village of Onset, Massachusetts, where generations of his family has loved the waters of Muddy Cove for over 100 years. They were privileged to have supportive and friendly communities in both places. In 2013 he wrote of his life as follows:I do believe that I have had a good life, significant opportunity, achieved many worthwhile things, have contributed to the welfare of others, have sustained disappointment and success, appreciated my family present and past, and have been continually grateful and thankful for it all. Obituary Preview: Raymond D. Cardoza, Sr., 88, of Wareham. Born in Bourne, he was the son of the late Manuel J. Cardoza, Sr. and Antonia (Monteiro) Cardoza.Raymond graduated from Bourne High School, attended U-Mass Amherst and Bridgewater Teachers College. A Korean War Era Veteran, Raymond served as Senior Vice-Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2846. He was a self-employed building contractor and Real Estate Broker. Mr. Cardoza served on the Wareham Finance Committee, the Conservation Committee and was elected to the Housing Authority, the Board of Assessors, served as Chairman of the Board of Selectman, Moderator for the Onset Fire & Water District, and Chairman of the Onset Prudential Committee. He was a Charter Member and first President of the Cape Verde Islands Relief Association and served as Chairman of the Democratic Town Committee. Mr. Cardoza is noted as the first person of Cape Verdean descent to hold high elected office in the United States.He greatly enjoyed competitive sports, having played Semi-pro football for several years with the Falmouth All-Stars and Wareham Gateway Club. He was active with youth groups and helped coach Little League Champion Wareham Rangers in 1980. He also bowled with Great Hill League Duckpins in Mattapoisett and Ten Pin leagues in New Bedford and Somerset.Predeceased by his wife, Alfreida (Balla), Raymond is survived by his children, Thomas of New Bedford, Linda (Dooley) of Plymouth, Raymond Jr. of Vero Beach, FL, and Timothy of Wareham; his sister, Ruthie (Harness); brothers John, Joseph, Charles, and George, 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.Interment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, at 12:45 pm, on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022, followed by a celebration of his life at Pier View Restaurant, 201 Onset Avenue, in Onset.  *Please do not send flowers.
