Patricia Vanderloop - June 27, 1928 - March 15, 2022

Departed: 03/15/2022 (Little Chute)
Obituary Preview: Patricia Vanderloop, age 93, passed away peacefully at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Appleton, WI on March 15, 2022. She has been received in to the loving arms of our Lord Jesus and joined her loving husband Leon in the eternity of joy and blessing.  Pat was born in Manitowoc on June 27, 1928 to Helen (Madigan) Greenwood and George R. Greenwood. Pat attended St. Mary School in 1942. She also attended Kaukauna High School and graduated in 1946. She was joined in marriage to Leon Vanderloop on May 28, 1949.  Pat and Leon farmed in Hollandtown for 10 years. Pat loved the St. Francis Parish and was quite active. Pat and Leon lived in Little Chute for a short time before moving to Kaukauna in 1961 and the St. Mary’s Parish for 41 years. Her parishes and her faith were always an important part of her life: catholic education, choir, homebound communion, committees, picnics, and many others faith based activities. She returned to St. Francis in 2000.  Kaukauna alumni association was special to her since 1956. She edited the alumni news, elected and served on the boards thru the years until now. After graduating from KHS in 1946, a group of girls from her class began to meet every other week to keep up with what they were doing: boyfriends, engagements, hope chests, etc. After they were all married it became their “club”. It was their support group and best friends for the next 70 years. There were 8 of them, sometimes 6, or 4 as God willed.  Our dear mother leaves us with these special words: “I would like to thank my children, my faithful friends, and wonderful neighbors who made it possible for me to stay in my home by treating me far better than I deserved. My family is the only reason for my life. They keep me going and feeling like they care about me, even though I can do less and less each day. I would love to care for them as I once did but I guess it is not in HIS plan. HE is in charge (always was) not me even though I thought I was!!! I always knew I need HIS help, through HIS mother Mary!! But I know because of HIM I did some good stuff. I love all my children so much; each one differently because they are each one different. HE made no two alike. We are all HIS, in HIS image; our bodies Temples of the Holy Spirit. My life has been one of privilege from the day I was born, only good people have surrounded me. My husband was always kind, caring, and faithful and I felt truly loved for almost 65 years. He truly loved and cherished us all!!” Pat is survived by eight children: Thomas (Linda) Vanderloop of Menomonie, Wisconsin; Timothy (Jill) Vanderloop of Appleton; Patricia (Keith) Coleman of Gilbert, Arizona; Richard (Suzanne) Vanderloop of Kaukauna; David (Gail) Vanderloop of Kaukauna; Helen (Jim) Panetti of DePere; Peter (Syd) Vanderloop of Edenton, N.C.; and Martin (Sherry) Vanderloop of Neenah. She will also be missed by many  grandchildren: Aaron, Jordan, Elizabeth, Molly, Heidi, Hanna, Ellie, Greta, Lori, Tami, Kari, Ryan, Rachael, Robert, Lisa, David, Nathan, Sarah, Adam, Justin, Michael, Lauren, Josh, Matt, Zack, Bryton, Lucas, Henry IV, Kendrick, Alexandria, and Zerek; many great-grandchildren: Darby, Jaiden, Ashley, Emma, Isabel, Owen, Sammy, Lily, Maren, Kendra, Blake, Jacoby, Maryn, Madysen, Maverick, Josephine, Asher, Hadley, Christian, Dominic, Noah, Rayna, Clare, Norah, Ellie, Gabriel, Leo, Jayden, Lorraine, Charlotte, Colin, Logan, Jada, Maesyn, Malorie, Aalyah, Brooklyn, Corbin, Winston, Elias, Nolan, Evelyn, Haiven, Bracken, Henry V, Charles, Robert, Oliver and Livia; and a great-great-grandson: Ira. There is also one sister Margaret (Thomas) Vanevenhoven of  Yuba City, CA and one brother Lawrence Greenwood of Little Chute.  The funeral liturgy for Patricia will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday March 24, 2022 at St Katharine Drexel Parish (St. Francis Church) in Hollandtown. Monsignor Jim VandenHogen, Fr. David McElroy, and Fr. Willie Van De Loo will officiate. Interment will be at 3:00 PM in St. Mary Cemetery in Kaukauna. Family and friends are invited to gather at church on Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.  The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to everyone at St. Elizabeth for the extra special care that mom received while there. The doctors, nurses, hospital staff, and all for the caregivers where so kind, gracious, loving, and compassionate. Our grateful family will never forget all that you have done for us. We would also like to offer our sincere thanks to ThedaCare Cancer Center for providing excellent care over that last few months allowing our mother the ability to stay in her home which was her desire.  We will always remember Pat as a loving caring and compassionate woman who loved everyone bringing joy to those in need. Robert Earl Cherry - June 17, 1948 - February 25, 2022

Departed: 02/25/2022 (Little Chute)
Obituary Preview: We never imagined we would have to write our dad’s obituary 20 months after writing our mom’s, but here we are.  Although we are grieving, we are trying to celebrate the fact that Dad chose to join Mom two days before her second heavenly birthday.
Our dad, Robert Earl Cherry, gained his angel wings on Friday, February 25, 2022, after many, many years of health issues.  We nearly lost him so many times in the last 11 years, it is hard to believe this time is real.  He was a kind and gentle soul who made an impact in the lives of so many.  He will be dearly missed.  His children and grandchildren were his ENTIRE WORLD. We cannot imagine our lives without him in it.
Robert Earl Cherry was born in Marinette, Wisconsin on June 17, 1948, to Earl and Mary Cherry.  He married the love of his life, Donna Ebsch, on August 8, 1970.   Together, they raised three daughters in the Marinette area where he was a member of the Marinette Jaycees and a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Peshtigo. Bob was also a beloved science teacher at Holy Family School in Marinette, Wisconsin and later at St. Francis Xavier Middle School in Appleton, Wisconsin.  He truly cherished each and every one of his students.  He was known for his lame jokes, witty comebacks, and compassion for every living thing.  Our mom also referred to him as a fountain of useless information, but that is what made him so special to us.  He taught his family to appreciate nature every single day.  He loved the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers, music, fishing, painting, bird watching, westerns, Bob Ross, Bill Engvall, Pentatonix, and any kind of puzzle.
In the last 11 years of Bob’s life, as he dealt with so many, sometimes overwhelming, health issues, it was his mission to make the lives of his caretakers better by showing his appreciation every single day. His caregivers at Brewster Village loved coming into his room to hear his corny jokes and to listen to his music, which he always had playing on his iPad.  He was a friend to more people than we can count and will be dearly missed by everyone whose life he touched.
Bob is survived by his three daughters: Heather (Jon) Bakken, Heidi (Luis) Soto, and Holly (Scott) Hartl, and seven grandchildren: Noah, Owen, and Maggie Bakken, Tressa and Emilee Soto, and Annaliese and Levi Hartl.  He is further survived by his sister, Susan Cherry, his best friend/cousin/unofficial brother, Dean Cherry, sisters-in-law: Joanne (Dennis) Palzewicz Jeanette (Bill) Demille, and Carol Ebsch, brothers-in-law: Clayton (Carolyn) Ebsch, Dale (Patty) Ebsch, Steve (Sally) Ebsch, and Roger Ebsch, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bob was proceeded in death by his wife, Donna, a grandson, Brady Hartl, his parents, Earl and Mary Cherry, his father and mother-in-law, Henry and Thresa Ebsch, a brother-in-law, Robert Ebsch, a niece, Cheryl Bogdan, and a nephew, Jason Demille.

Patricia Ann Verbruggen - February 04, 1952 - February 04, 2022

Departed: 02/04/2022 (Little Chute)
Obituary Preview: Patricia Ann Verbruggen of Kimberly, WI, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on her 70th birthday, February 4, 2022. Pat fought two courageous battles against breast cancer and won both times. She was as tough as nails and relied on the Lord for her strength and courage.
Pat was born on February 4, 1952 to Robert (Windy) and Regina (Peg) DeCoster in Appleton, WI. She spent her childhood years in Kaukauna and graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1970. Pat worked many years at the Little Chute/Kimberly Public library and loved serving her patrons. She married the love of her life, Dave Verbruggen, on July 21, 1973.  Together they shared many adventures taking road trips across the country and stopping at the casinos along the way. Over the years, they spent many hours together building their cabin in Pickerel where they made their retirement.
Pat enjoyed sharing her time and talents with those around her. She spent much of her days crafting with her friends, knitting blankets for loved ones, and creating personalized scrapbooks for her kids and grandkids. Pat was a devoted Christian and her faith was incredibly strong. She prayed her rosary daily and filled the heavens with her prayer requests for those in need.
In her retirement years, she truly enjoyed life to the fullest. She and Dave were members of the Pickerel Geezers UTV club, spent time fishing on their pontoon boat in the summer, ice fishing in the winter, and putting many miles on the snowmobile. She enjoyed spending her weekends in Pickerel with her family celebrating the 4th of July, telling stories around the campfire, playing cribbage, and making many lasting memories. Pat enjoyed swimming with her “Noodlettes” and cheering her grandchildren on at all their sporting events. She never missed a beat and was always there for those who needed her.
There was nothing that Pat loved more than her family. She had the most beautiful heart and gave all she had to her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends. She was always checking in with a phone call and finding little ways to show her love for her family. Perhaps one of the most cherished memories her children and grandchildren will have is when Pat would call on their birthday and sing. She always found a way to make each of her children and grandchildren feel special. She was the most faithful and loving wife and devoted her life to the man who blessed her with her family.
Patricia is survived by her husband of 48 years, Dave Verbruggen, children: Eric (Lynne) Verbruggen, Ryan (Julie) Verbruggen, Adam (Emily) Verbruggen, and Carrie (Todd) Berken.
