Irene was born June 4, 1935 in Detroit, to the late Margaret and Pietro Gennari. She enjoyed staying busy with crocheting and coloring. Irene crocheted countless items for the family and friends in her life along with donating many to St. John Macomb Hospital's Radiation Center. She took pride in her home, making sure the lawn was neat, even if that meant pruning bushes with hand scissors. Irene also liked to get out to the casino when she was able, playing video poker. She was a long-time member of St. Margaret Church, attending even before the church was built. Irene married the love of her life, Donald, in 1955. Throughout their 54 years together they build a beautiful family full of love and laughter. Irene was a wonderful mother who put God and her family first, her main wish for her family and friends was to always remember God.

Born William Maurice Dietz to Robert G. and Helen Dietz in Detroit, Michigan on November 9, 1946 he grew up in East Detroit, now Eastpointe, and graduated from Lincoln High School in Warren. He is survived by his wife Suzanne Dietz, three children; Robert (April) Dietz, Michael (Denise) Dietz, and Amber Dietz, five grandchildren; Courtney Dietz, Alexandria (Brett) Beloungea, Ashlee Dietz, Colin Dietz, and Ella Dietz and one great grandchild. Bill worked at Chrysler's Sterling Stamping Plant with his best bud Al for 42 years. After retirement, Bill enjoyed reading books and staying active by hitting the gym, walking the neighborhood, and riding his bike. When he wasn't exercising, he enjoyed rounds of golf followed by rounds of Keno and Labatt's in frosty mugs at Gator Jake's. A huge football fan, Bill always rooted for the University of Michigan. Born Katheline Mary Helm to Urban Pius Helm and Muriel Mary Helm (nee; Hoffman) in Detroit, Michigan on September 9, 1932 she graduated high school and went to work handling clerical duties for several companies including Allstate Insurance, Kelly Services and the Sterling Heights Missile Plant.

Kay met her love Clarence Malward Miller, marrying on Valentine's Day 1953 and began the family she would devote herself to nurturing through many generations. A natural "people person" she loved socializing with family, friends and her church communities and taking leisurely walks. Kay was also a devoted and faithful woman who always carried a rosary with her and attended Mass weekly at the former St. Edmund's, now St. Faustina, Catholic Church in Warren and St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Florida.

Kay is survived by 9 children; Cynthia Ross, Michael Miller, Kathrine Palimino, Sandra (Stephen) Johnson, Shawn Miller, Scott Miller, Michelle (Kurt) Hoffman, Kristin (Jon) Gray, Thomas (Katie) Miller, 13 grandchildren; Joe (Dawn) Epifanio, John (Amie) Epifanio, Angela Palimino, Julie Jones, Karey Miller, Alyssa Miller, Amy (Sam) Brown, John Gray, Amber Sabo, Matthew Miller, Samantha Miller, Shannon (Devon) Walterschied, 26 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Mary Ann Helm and several nieces and nephews. Cristie R. Fluker - August 10, 1954 - April 08, 2024

Obituary Preview: Cristie Roxanne Fluker was born August 10, 1954 in Bad Axe, Michigan. She was 1 of 5 children born to the union of George Basil Rolph and Mary Lorraine Rolph. She was a happy loving child. She was also a very tall child growing to 5’11 before the age of 14. She and her siblings would spend their days or sometimes their summers on their grandparents farm in Penebog, Michigan. Cristie graduated 1972 at Pershing High School in Detroit Michigan. She was very driven and ambitious. She started at Wayne State University and then began taking on various jobs. In 1974 she started at Soss manufacturing and worked for 10 years until they closed their doors. She then met her soon to be husband Prince at a bar in downtown Detroit while her mom and her were playing pool. They began going out and became a couple. He gave her the nickname peaches and they will be known as ”Peaches and Curly” for future years to come. On December 17, 1979 they welcomed their first born son Anthony Steven Fluker. Then on July 3, 1982 they had a daughter Lorraine LaNaya Fluker. Then in September of 1983 they married. Cristie had always been nurturing and always wanted to help people. She went into the medical field starting dental hygienist training along with various programs in nursing and certification requirements to better qualify for jobs. She started private duty nursing and found joy, taking care of the elderly and the sick. She formed very personal and loving relationships with her clients and they loved her very much. In 1995 she began her career as a patient care tech at St. John Hospital in Detroit in the oncology unit. She worked there for 14 years while still doing private duty nursing. Then in 2002 her husband was diagnosed with cancer, and Cristie lovingly brought him home to care for him until his final breath. She herself had battle with diabetes since she had given birth to her daughter. She was the first person to start using a newly developed insulin pump. She thrived for years, living with diabetes, still managing to care for her family, work the midnight shift so she could have time with her extended family for special moments creating memories. Cristie never met a stranger. She was very welcoming and would help just about anyone she met. She would take cupcakes to her kids school, chaperone field trips or just be those parents to take all the kids somewhere. All the kids knew Mr. and Mrs. Fluker. Unfortunately, Cristie suffered a stroke in 2021. She continued to try to live her life to the best of her ability, but she had limited mobility to her right side. Then along with the series of seizures and her diabetes becoming very brittle Cristie fought a very challenging battle for several years. On April 8, 2024 God decided she didn’t have to fight anymore and took her suffering away. Cristie is survived by her two children, Anthony Fluker, Lorraine Fluker Jankovic (George) and one step daughter Felicia Ingram (Harry) and her two granddaughters who she was so smitten with Kyreanna Asia Fluker and Julijana LaNaya Jankovic she has two step grandchildren, Carl and Carlisha. Cristie is also survived by two brothers Brad Richard Rolph (Mary) and Daniel Jeffrey Rolph and her sister in law Ada Fluker. Her loving nephews and nieces, Jason Rolph, Melissa Rolph, Sandra Elanges (Michael), Steven Rolph (Michelle), Matthew Rolph, Ryan Jackson, Wendy Brockway (Thomas) alongside with their children. She also leaves behind from her Fluker family a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Preceeding her in death, her husband Prince Fluker, her brother George Rolph and her sister Linda Rolph. She will be remembered and loved by all who was apart of her life.

Visitation for Cristie will be Thursday, April 18th 12-7pm at Chas. Verheyden, Inc.- Duross Chapel, 28499 Schoenherr Rd., Warren, 48088. Funeral service will be Friday, April 19th with a family hour at 11:30am until time of service at 12:00pm at the funeral home.

The loving wife of the late John Rogers and devoted homemaker and mother of 5 enjoyed watching crime shows on quiet evenings and held a deep love for reading; frequently unable to set down a good book before reaching the end was cause for many all-nighters through her life. Joann was known to look forward to their vacations and any trips to nearby casinos but above all was the peace and joy found at their cabin up north among the many acres and myriad wildlife that surrounded them.

Joann is survived in life by daughters Sherry L. (Robert) McGregor and Denise R. Parafinowicz, 3 sons; John M. (Shawn), Christopher A. and Mike S. Rogers, grandchildren; Crystal (Tim) Reeze, Kandida Skiba, Jesse Parafinowicz, Jennifer Kucharski, Ashley Rogers, Chloe Rogers, Sara MacGregor and Alan McGregor, 4 great grandchildren; Brittany Ann Pollard (Adam), Charles Olson (Mercedes), Brian Olson (Emily) and Jackson McGregor, her great-great grandson Charles Olson Jr. and brother Gary Dombrowski. As she reunites with her husband John, who preceded her in 2017, as well as her parents, sister Patsy Lester and son-in-law Hank Parafinowicz; the life and legacy of Joann Rogers will continue on in the hearts of the family and friends that will miss her dearly.

Obituary Preview: John Vue was born on July 22, 1955 in the Province of Sam Neua, Laos. He was the youngest of three brothers and eight sisters. His parents and all his siblings were deceased except one sister.

John was a survivor. He survived his childhood without his parents, the war with no injury, and overcame life in a strange country with many barriers. Through his hard-working ethic, he adapted and survived life's ever- changing seasons. To better his life, he arrived to the United States of American in July 1986.

He passed away on February 25, 2024 in Orion Township, Michigan. He is survived by his sister, Chue Vue and her daughter Khoua Yang (Va Seng Kue) and son Bill Moua. Bob served his country with pride as a member of the United States Army. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career as a Production Manager for General Electric, where his leadership and expertise were highly valued. Later in life, he continued to share his knowledge and skills as a Consultant for several technology companies. His professional life was marked by a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence, traits that he passed down to his family and colleagues.

Bob's love for his family was a cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Eileen C. Benoit, and their children, Suzanne Rachelle Wilson, Michael Robert (Linda) Benoit, and Shelley Lynn (John) Laskarides. He was a cherished grandfather to Kaylee Faye Wilson, Keira Joy Wilson, Zebulun Augustus Wilson, Casey Nahil Benoit, and Colleen Cecelia Benoit. His siblings, Nancy Appleton, Kenneth (Joan) Benoit, and Sharon Benoit, will fondly remember his warmth and companionship. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Florence, 2 brothers; James and Keith Benoit and brother-in-law James Appleton.

An avid outdoorsman, Bob found solace in the serenity of nature. His love for hunting, fishing and fly fishing were just part of the joy he found at his cottage up north, where many cherished memories were created. Bob's happiest moments were often spent gliding across the water in his pontoon boat, surrounded by the beauty of Michigan's landscapes.

Beyond the great outdoors, Bob had a variety of interests that kept him engaged in life's many pleasures. He was an enthusiastic reader and could often be found watching his favorite espionage movies. Bob was a dedicated fan of Detroit sports, cheering on his teams through every season. His loyalty extended to his daily routine, where he kept up with current events through Fox News. Music was another passion of Bob's, and he spent countless hours in his garage listening to classic rock, relaxing with a pipe or cigar, and a glass of bourbon in hand.

Bob's life was a testament to the values of hard work, family, and enjoying the simple things. As we say goodbye to a man of great character and warmth, we take comfort in the legacy he leaves behind-a legacy of love, laughter, and the great outdoors. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends and many colleagues.

Amos was a devoted father to his beloved daughters; Chiquita "Kita" Carter, Cassandra Williams, and Jacqueline (Martin) Cerecedo-Perez. His grandchildren; Jarell Maurice Chavez Buckles, Kyia Arielle Hardman, Devin Christian Buckles, and Edward Kevin Carter, brought him immeasurable pride and happiness. The sparkle in his eye when he spoke of them was a reflection of his deep love and appreciation for his family-a boundless love that was a guiding force and his greatest achievement.

He was proud member of the United States Air Force, enlisting in 1963. Following his military service, Amos transitioned to the transportation industry, where he became known as a reliable and skilled driver. His work ethic was unparalleled, and his camaraderie with his colleagues was genuine and heartfelt.

Amos's interests were as rich and varied as the tapestry of his life. A practioner of strategy and patience, he found joy in the intellectual challenges of Chess and Dominos. His love for card games, particularly Bidwhist and Poker, was matched only by the delight he took in the company of fellow players.

Amos's zest for life extended to his enjoyment of simple pleasures, like the taste of fresh hot fish and the excitement of a well-planned trip to the casino. He was a man who savored every moment, who found joy in the journey, and who cherished the blessings of every new day.

As we bid farewell to our beloved Amos Leroy Buckles, let us carry forward the love he shared, the wisdom he imparted, and the kindness he showed to each and every one of us. Born Donald Paul Groth June 17, 1957 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan to Donald Kenneth Groth and Irene Margaret Groth (nee: Gennari). Following High School Don went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree and married his love Katherine Anne Groth (nee: Wagner) in 1978. He went to work in the medical field overseeing materials and resource management for the Detroit Medical Center where he worked for 37 years until his retirement in 2019. Shortly after that Don was called back to the field to assist Henry Ford Hospital in Macomb for 2 years during the Covid pandemic. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and "putz-ing" in his front yard and devoting as much time as possible to his love for classic cars by frequenting both Woodward Avenue, classic car shows and local gatherings. Don was also an avid supporter of St. Jude's Children and the Capuchin Soup Kitchen whose causes he held near to his heart.

Don is survived by his beloved wife Katherine with whom he shared 45 wonderful years, 2 loving sons; Nathan Christopher Ku-San (Victoria) Groth and Jason Michael In-Sub Groth, his dear granddaughter Noella, his beloved mother Irene Groth and mother-in-law Mary Wagner, his brother Ken (Barbara) Groth, sisters; Danette (Glenn) Bonnell, Kori (Tom) Pienta and Tammy (Ken) Gilewski, brothers-in-law John Wagner, Jim Wagner and Rick (Cindy) Wagner, sister-in-law Peggy (Bill) DeClercq and many dear nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Mary Ann DeKane, age 69, of Roseville, MI, passed away on February 6, 2024. She is survived by her mother, Mary Rosko DeKane, her sisters, Diane Collins and Carol (Robert) Nagel, her aunt, Helen Corbeil, her uncle, Robert DeKane Sr., a great uncle, James Vitez, 13 first cousins, and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Stephen D. DeKane.

Mary Ann grew up in Hamtramck, where she attended Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Schools and graduated from Hamtramck High School in 1972. She earned a Bachelor's degree in English while on an academic scholarship and a Master's in Library Science from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI. Mary Ann worked as a medical librarian at Wayne State, then in Adult Services at the Royal Oak Public Library, where she led book discussion groups and hired musicians for community programs. After retiring from Royal Oak, Mary Ann served on the board of commissioners for the Roseville Public Library.

Mary Ann was very active in her church, Holy Trinity Orthodox, where she sang in the church choir as well as in the Orthodox Choir of Metropolitan Detroit. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Pokrova Sisterhood and the St. Juliana of Lazarevo Ministry of Mercy, through which she participated in many charitable works to benefit the poor, the hungry, the homeless, and her Holy Trinity family.

Mary Ann loved life to the fullest. She had a big smile and never met a stranger. She loved music (she sang, folk danced, attended concerts and musical theater), parties and picnics and drinking wine, cooking with and for her friends and community, walking and water aerobics, Facebook (she never failed to wish a friend or family member "Happy Birthday"), and especially travel. She'd take weekend and weeklong trips with her friends and family and folk-dance groups; she traveled across the United States and to Hawaii and Alaska, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America, Greece and Italy, Australia and New Zealand, New England and the Canadian Maritimes, and the Holy Land. On a recent trip to Romania, she stood on the western slope of the Carpathian Mountains, with her beloved Ukraine to the east. Mary Ann also took excellent care of her mother and aunt, enriching all their lives.

A visitation for Mary Ann will be held on February 21 at Verheyden Funeral Home, 28499 Schoenherr Rd., Warren, MI, from 1:00-8:00 pm. A Panikhida (prayer service) will be held at 7:00 pm.

On February 22, Mary Ann will lie in state at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 20500 Anglin St., Detroit, MI, at 10:00 am, with her funeral at 11:00 am.

A private burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery.

Robert A. Tempest - March 24, 1943 - January 23, 2024

Obituary Preview: Robert A. Tempest, age 80 of Royal Oak, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Father Murray's Nursing Home in Center Line, Michigan on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 after a two year battle with dementia. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 24, 1943.

He is survived by daughters Jennifer Tempest and Christina "Tina" Taylor, son-in-law Don Taylor Jr., his grandson Jason Taylor and former wife, Sandra Tempest (nee: Kucharski). Bob was preceded in death by his older brother James Tempest, his mother Geraldine Tempest (nee: Cadotte) and father Randolph Tempest. This resulted in Bob and his brother being taken in and raised by foster parents, the late Jack and Sara Kessler.

Bob was a proud blue-collar worker; a dedicated BASF employee until he took early retirement. As a lifelong Royal Oak resident Bob could often be found in the backyard in the summer sitting in his lawn chair listening to the Detroit Tigers ballgame on the radio, usually with a glass of Vernors and his Tigers hat on, or watching the Detroit Lions during football season. He was also an avid bowler! Over the course of his time working at BASF, he bowled on several different leagues.

Bob also enjoyed volunteering for various events in the community such as the Woodward Dream Cruise. During the autumn season he enjoyed volunteering to do chores for folks in his community such as lawn mowing and gutter cleaning. He loved to talk to anybody, anywhere, at anytime about literally anything! His gift of gab is a quality that will be remembered warmly by his friends and family.

In May 1961 Joan married John Novak Jr. and they began their family of a daughter and 4 sons. She had a special affinity with students in need of more one-on-one guidance, which aligned well with her exceptionally giving and helpful nature.

She enjoyed watching T.V. and her favorite Soap Opera; Days of our Lives, playing Bingo, Gardening, Crocheting and Reading and she loved animals but more than anything she enjoyed family. Family was everything to Joan and 7 years after losing her husband John on May 24, 1993 she was lucky enough to find another love in Robert DeRose and they were able to share 13 years together enjoying life and her many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren before his passing in 2013.

Chiera) Novak, Theresa Pearl (John Steven) Moore, Mark Anthony (Marlina Lynn) Novak, Ronald Gerard (Toyia Shevette) Novak and Brian Keith (Erica Lynn) Novak, 14 grandchildren; John Paul, Misty (Frank), Francis (Danielle), Teri (Tom), Jason (Krystal), Nicholas, Heather, Joshua, Alexis, Nyia, Brittany, Brian Jr., Madison and Matthew as well as "Grandma" to 10 great grandchildren; Leah, Karley, Arianna, Colin, Frankie Lynn, Peyton, Abby, Emma, Jayce and Abel, her half-sister Gwen and half-brother Mathew Karaniewski and several cousins. His garage was his sanctuary, where he could be found tinkering on his vintage Mustang and his 1972 Spitfire, turning wrenches and tuning engines to the soundtrack of classic rock -his favorite.

Above all, Dean's heart belonged to his family. He was a loving husband to Catherine Tennant, a cherished stepfather to Shannon and Brian Kelso, and an adored stepgrandfather to Aiden Yanasak. His siblings, Dave, Doug, Dawn, and Dee, along with his brother-in-law Rich and many nieces and nephews, were integral parts of his life. He treasured every second spent with his stepgrandson Aiden, the apple of his eye, and the countless memories made with his nieces and nephews. His ability to connect with children was remarkable. Tom enjoyed playing Keno and taking drives along the water; appreciating the waves and the scenic views. These relaxed drives were a source of peace for him. Those who knew Tom will remember him as a friendly and kind individual with a great sense of humor. He had a knack for making people laugh. His jokes were a source of joy and laughter for all around him, and his warm, inviting personality made him a friend to many.
