Angelo A. DeLorenzo - April 07, 1943 - May 12, 2024

Departed: 05/12/2024 (Doylestown)
Obituary Preview: Angelo Anthony DeLorenzo passed away on May 12, 2024 at his home in Washington Crossing, PA. Born on April 7th, 1943 to Anthony and Virginia DeLorenzo, in Madison, Wisconsin, Angelo was a resident of Washington Crossing for the last 26 years of his life.
On October 22, 1966, Angelo married his beloved wife Susan Moody, in a beautiful ceremony in Winona, Minnesota. Together they raised four children: Anthony (Naomi) DeLorenzo, Peter DeLorenzo, Cara (Michael) DeLorenzo-Palka, and Bryan (Donna) DeLorenzo. Angelo was a devoted father and grandfather, known for his presence at his children’s and grandchildren’s most important milestones and events. His support for his children and grandchildren in their life’s pursuits was strongly felt and helped provide a solid foundation for their careers and service work. Family being a main focus in his life, he was also loved and respected by his extended family, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews heralding from his home state of Wisconsin and all regions across the United States.
Angelo’s memory will be forever held in the hearts of high surviving family: his wife Susan; his children, Tony, Peter, Cara, and Bryan; his 8 grandchildren, Katelin, Alyse, Brianna, Kaylee, Sofia, Braylon, Sebastian, and Santino; and his great grandchild, Harper.
Angelo’s journey is one of continuous evolution, marked by dedication and a commitment to service. Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from St. Mary’s College in Winona, Minnesota in 1966 laid the foundation for his professional endeavors. Embarking on a career path in the insurance industry, Angelo traversed through various roles, beginning with Allstate Insurance in Wisconsin and Illinois. His journey led him to Pritchard & Jerden Insurance Group in Marietta, GA, followed by Highland Insurance Group in Wisconsin and New Jersey, culminating in the establishment of his own consulting business, Compliance Services.
However, retirement in 2008 did not signal a halt to Angelo’s contributions; rather, it ignited a new chapter of altruism and giving back. His transition into volunteering at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Langhorne, PA, served as a testament to his desire to make a difference. This initial step paved the way for a deeper immersion into service through St. Mary’s Clinical Pastoral Education program, which he completed in 2013. Driven by a profound sense of purpose, Angelo pursued further education, obtaining his Masters of Arts in Theology and Ministry from LaSalle University in 2014. Not content with mere academic achievement, Angelo went the extra mile, becoming a certified Chaplain, symbolizing his unwavering commitment to providing spiritual care and support to those in need.
Service being Angelo’s main focus post-retirement, he was one of the first people chosen by St. Mary’s to be trained to participate in the program “No One Dies Alone” (NODA), a compassionate program implemented in many hospitals, hospices, and healthcare facilities around the world. Its primary aim is to ensure that terminally ill patients who do not have loved ones nearby receive companionship and support during their final moments. Angelo underwent specialized training to learn how to offer emotional support, engage in meaningful conversation, and provide comfort through touch or simply by being present. He sat with patients, held their hand, read to them, played music on his harp, and fulfilled any other requests that helped alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation. As a NODA volunteer, he brought immense solace to patients facing the end of life, offering them a sense of dignity, humanity, and connection in their final moments. He embodied the program’s belief that no one should have to face death alone and sought to ensure that every individual he came to support, regardless of their circumstances, was surrounded by compassion and care as they transitioned from this life.
Angelo's extensive journey culminated in his final role as the first Hospice Bereavement Counselor at Pennswood Village in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The addition of hospice care to the facility was a testament to their dedication to holistic wellbeing, reflecting Angelo's reputation for compassionate care. During his three years of service, Angelo not only provided bereavement counseling, but also cultivated deep connections with the residents, officiating memorial services and participating in the community's shared grief. As a welcomed member of the Pennswood community, Angelo was provided a portion of the communal garden to grow fruits and vegetables. He thoroughly enjoyed working alongside fellow residents, savoring the camaraderie fostered through their shared gardening endeavors. His genuine enjoyment of connecting with people resonated deeply, and he was cherished by residents, who often remarked on his joyful spirit and positive presence. Even after his departure, Angelo's impact lingered, with residents frequently expressing their appreciation for his comforting presence and the warmth he brought to their lives.
Angelo’s journey exemplifies the transformative power of lifelong learning and service, showcasing how one individual’s dedication can profoundly impact the lives of others.
A service to celebrate Angelo’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024 at 1:00 PM at St. George’s Church, located at 1370 River Road in Titusville, New Jersey. After the service there will be a reception at the home of Cara and Michael Palka in Furlong, PA. Send condolences to www.varcoethomasfuneralhome.com

Tom had many interests and collections which he brought with him to Pt Pleasant. His hobbies included skiing, scuba diving, playing his cello, and traveling to name a few.
Tom was passionate about serving his community. He spent much of his adult life volunteering for various organizations. For the last ten years of his life, while his friends and family were all retiring, Tom began a career with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and then the US Department of Agriculture. He joked about retiring when he turned 80, because studying bugs and working with 20-somethings kept him young. Obituary Preview: Ruth Devine, beloved mother of her three daughters, 2 sons-in-law and 5 grandchildren, passed away peacefully at Riverview Medical Center.
A New Jersey native for 86 years, she had an eye for hidden ‘gems’. Her best find was the perfect home on the Barnegat Bay where she enjoyed the ‘theater’ of weather and waves. She created a loving and warm world for her family. From Christmases that could fit on a Currier & Ives print to the tradition of an evening cocktail hour where the family and any visitors would sit, laugh and discuss their day. A Master Teacher, Ruth was always ahead of the curve, introducing her Pinelands High School students to entrepreneurship back in the 1980s, helping them build an in-school business, Action Word Processing. She inspired thousands of students in over 25 years of teaching.
Her daughters are grateful for the values she instilled in them that with smarts, hard work and vision, they could accomplish anything in life. Ruth was a businesswoman with savvy to identify opportunities. She pivoted from teaching to start a company with her late husband, Rich. This strategic move, their home, and family formed their beloved empire. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Richard.

Her interest in people and their cultures was so important to Alberta and her husband that they took extended trips to Europe with all 13 of their grandchildren so that their grandchildren would understand more fully the larger world we live in.
Alberta began knitting beautiful, complicated sweaters as a high school student and never stopped knitting. She knit afghans and sweaters for all of her children and grandchildren with patterns and colors uniquely and personally chosen. Alberta also knit intricate Christmas stockings, using patterns from her mother, for each person as they joined the family, whether through birth or marriage. Alberta enjoyed sewing, often making matching outfits for mother and daughter, and teaching the girls to sew. While living in Belgium, Alberta learned to make Belgian lace, developing friendships with other lace-makers and making more than 25 beautiful examples of lace that now adorn her family’s homes. She loved music, her church connections, and volunteer positions in the community.
Alberta was the ultimate planner. She loved planning family gatherings for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, with all the trimmings: Easter egg hunts in the backyard for the grandchildren, Christmas gifts for all family members purchased on the latest trip taken with her husband, David, favorite apple pie recipes or her famous chocolate cake for birthdays. She loved traveling the world, learning about other cultures and meeting interesting people who often became fast friends.
Alberta is survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara Diane Jacobs of Cedar Rapids, IA, her five children, their spouses, her 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Leila Elizabeth Mueller Senst.
