Karen Minsberg - June 08, 1953 - December 26, 2019

Obituary Preview: On the morning of December 26th, 2019, Karen Minsberg passed to a heavenly place at the age of 66 in Monticello, NY, where she resided.
Karen grew up in Los Angeles. After graduating from Immaculate Heart College there, Karen worked in television, first in scheduling, and later as a producer at KCET, Los Angeles' PBS station. She left Los Angeles to pursue her passion, yoga, in New York City. While teaching yoga, Karen decided to get a degree in Social Work at Columbia, completing grad school at age 40.
As an LCSW living in Brooklyn, she maintained a private practice and also worked at a public school with adolescents, many of whom had problems with immigration, family and abuse.
Karen later left her public school job and continued her studies, becoming a member of ADEP (Accelerated Dynamic Experiential Psychotherapy) in her private practice.
In 2015, she rekindled her relationship with the love of her life, John Ambrosi, with whom she moved to the Catskills Mountains where she spent the next phase of her life sharing their eternal love.
Karen is survived by her two sisters, brother-in-law, nephews and cousins, the entire Ambrosi family, and many friends.
A memorial for service for Karen will be held at VanInwegen-Kenny, Sunday, December 29th, from 1pm to 4pm.

Obituary Preview: Nancy Benson of Rock Hill, a homemaker and longtime resident of the area, passed away on Christmas Day, 2019 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, surrounded by her loving family. She was 77.
The daughter of the late Frank Striffler and Jeanette Kimmel Striffler, she was born February 14, 1942 in Brooklyn.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years: Raymond G. Benson; a son: Richard Benson (Tina); two daughters: Jeanette Taggart (Bob) and Jodi Benson; grandchildren: Nicholas Benson (Kate), Lindsey Benson, Bobby Taggart, Nikki Rasnick (Eli), Maria Gonzalez (Manny), Jordan Canto and Colin Canto; three great grandchildren: Vera, Aggie and her little boy Osias; her siblings: Barbara VanGordon, Virginia Galloway (Bob), and Allan Striffler; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister: Jeanette Striffler.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, December 28 at 11:00am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating.

Obituary Preview: Alice "Pat" Bunce of Monticello, NY and Largo, FL, died Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL. She was 86.
The daughter of the late John Flynn and Alice Cunningham Flynn, she was born November 15, 1933 in Hamilton, Scotland. She was the widow of William H. Bunce who predeceased her on September 25, 2017.
Pat was a member of both St. Peter's Catholic Church in Monticello and St. Catherine of Siena in Largo, FL.
She is survived by four sons: Brian W. Bunce, Michael J. Bunce, David P. Bunce & his wife Kim, and William P. Bunce & his husband Thomas Grenon; a daughter: Kathleen A. Bunce & her wife Melinda Nicholson; 11 grandchildren: Daniel, Christine, Jaclyn, Colin, Devin, Alison, Garrett, McKaela, Michael, Joseph and David; a brother: John Flynn & his wife Diane; a sister-in-law: Kathleen Aughavin; many nieces and nephews; and special family members: Susan Bunce, KathyAnn Bunce and Michael Lashinksy. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn McGlynn and a brother, Thomas Flynn.
Family & friends are invited to gather on Friday, December 20 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 21 at 12:00pm noon at St. Peter's Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello with Fr. John Tran officiating. Linda Abraham - April 16, 1960 - December 11, 2019

Obituary Preview: Pastor Linda Abraham transitioned unexpectedly, but peacefully, from this life, December 11th, 2019 at her home in Kiamesha Lake, New York. Pastor Abraham was born Linda Michelle Alli on April 16th, 1960 in Monticello Hospital. She is the second child of Deacon Gerald Alli and Pastor Mary Alli.
In 1977, Linda graduated a year early from Monticello High School and moved to Poughkeepsie, New York to go to Dutchess County Community College. Over the years, Linda moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1983, to Stewart, Florida in 1985, and to Richmond, Virginia in 1989. Around 1996, after 20 plus years, Linda moved back to Monticello where she lived for the remainder of her life.
Pastor Abraham worked tirelessly as a patient advocate for 40 years, approximately twenty of which for Crystal Run Village. She was also a licensed foster parent for Abbot House and finished her time of employment working for Sullivan County ARC.
In Monticello, Linda was called to the ministry and founded Unity Mission Temple Church. After several years of independent services, she decided to work in conjunction with her parents newly formed church, the Pentecostal House of Prayer Church. The two churches acquired a building at 6 Holmes Street in Monticello and transformed that building into their new home church.
Linda is survived by her loving parents: Deacon Gerald and Pastor Mary Alli; her siblings: Gerald Alli & his wife Patricia Hall-Alli, Helen Alli, and Joseph Alli & his wife Sherneice Gatewood-Alli; her nieces and nephews: Michael Melton, Ingrid Graziano and her husband Hamilton Graziano, Andrew Alli, Alexandra Alli, Emma Alli, Mistah Alli, Joseph Alli Jr., and Aaliyah Alli. She was predeceased by her daughter Astar Coleman.
Funeral services will be held December 18th -19th. On Wednesday, December 18th, the wake and viewing will be held at the Unity Mission Temple/Pentecostal House of Prayer Church, 6 Holmes Street, Monticello, New York, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. On Thursday, December 19th, her funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, 28 Liberty Street, Monticello, New York. Burial will take place at Rock Ridge Cemetery and there will be a repast at First Baptist Church afterwards.

Obituary Preview: Edward Francis Xavier Walsh Jr., a retired police officer for the NYPD, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019 at his home in Rock Hill. He was 72.
The son of the late Edward Francis Xavier Walsh Sr. and Marie Keller Walsh, he was born June 10, 1947 in New York City.
Ed was an avid fisherman and a big fan of both the NY Yankees and NY Rangers. He was also a member of the Monticello Elk's Lodge #1544, and the Rock Hill Fire Dept. Auxiliary.
He is survived by his wife Joanne Mitchell Walsh; a daughter: Margaret Mark & her husband Brian; two sons: Edward Walsh III & his wife Christine, and James Walsh & his fiancé Jennifer Lundstrom; three grandchildren: Nora, Edward IV and Abigail; a brother: Kevin Walsh & his wife Sue Ellen; a sister: Lois Walsh; several nieces and nephews; and his dog and co-pilot Kasey.
Family & friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, December 11 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. The Rock Hill Fire Dept and Monticello Elk's Lodge will both conduct services at approximately 6:15pm. The daughter of the late Terrence Hoyer and Ruth Murtaugh Hoyer, she was born December 11, 1938 in Brooklyn.
Ruth was a long time member of Our Lady of Assumption Church, Bloomingburg, NY were she taught CCD classes for many years. Ruth was a girl scout leader for 10 years and enjoyed many activities with her troop. Nani was very loved by all her grandchildren, and was always an active part of their lives.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years: John C. Gallo, at home; two daughters: Diane Farris & her husband Karl of Bullville, and Dale Keesler & her husband Joel of Virginia Beach, VA; seven grandchildren: Kristen Bruyn (Kevin), Jeffrey Farris (Michelle), Samantha Keesler, Jessica Wolf (Adam), Kaitlyn Masino (Christopher), Richard Gallo Jr. and Justin Gallo; ten great grandchildren; three sisters: Janet Treglia, Barbara Goetschius (Douglas), and Terry Hoffman (Harry); and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son: Richard J. Gallo Sr.; and two sisters: Carol Herring and Dorothy Hoyer.

James Lyttle - January 01, 1946 - November 23, 2019

Obituary Preview: James Anderson Lyttle, age 73, of Kiamesha Lake, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 23, 2019.
Born on January 1, 1946 in Mt. Vernon, NY and raised in Westchester County, Jim graduated from Scarsdale High School in 1964. He received a degree in Government and Public Administration from American University in Washington DC in 1968. He served in VISTA Southeastern Ohio from 1968 – 1970. Jim was the last ancestor of James Bailey (who settled near Kiamesha Lake in 1804) to permanently reside in Kiamesha Lake on his great grandfather David Brundage Bailey's farm next to Bailey's Lake.
Jim worked for the Sullivan County Office for the Aging for over 25 years, serving as the Director from 1995 to March 2010. Together with his dedicated, competent and compassionate staff, many programs that continue to help the elderly and their families were implemented. Jim was a lifetime member of Statewide Senior Action Council and was a founding member of SLAC – Senior Legislative Action Committee. He is forever grateful for the friendships that grew from their shared vision and commitment.
He was also a member of the Town of Thompson Planning Board serving as its chairman for 15 of the 20 years, and a founding member of the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless. He also served on the Boards of Rural Sullivan County Housing, the Sullivan Country Childcare Council, the Cornell Cooperative Extension Human Ecology Program, Sullivan County Health Services Advisory Board, and Long Term Care Council. For his outstanding and invaluable service to the community, he was recognized by the NY State Assembly and the US Congress.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Evelyn Anderson Lyttle and James Bailey Lyttle. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Alexandra Marie; his sisters: Jane L. Anderson of Berkeley, CA, and Deborah L. Ash of New York, NY; his sister-in-law: Deborah E. Riolo (Richard) of Key Largo, FL twelve nieces and nephews; and nine great nieces and nephews. Robert Pinto - August 22, 1933 - November 22, 2019

Obituary Preview: Rev. Robert Pinto went to his reward on Friday, November 22, 2019. He left this life surrounded by family. He was 86 years old.
Pastor Bob was a man of deep faith who loved Jesus, his family and the New York Yankees. He was born August 22, 1933 in Brooklyn NY to Madeline Letizia Pinto and Joseph Pinto, the youngest of three children
He lived a long life of service—first in New York City government, and then in ministry as a United Methodist Pastor. He also served 6 years with the National Guard, 71st Infantry.
Bob spent nearly a decade in New York City Government under Mayor John Lindsay, as the Director of Utility Restorations for the Department of Highways, Assistant to the Highway Commissioner dealing with community affairs, and a Deputy Inspector General for the Transportation Administration. During this time, he routinely served as "Night Mayor", assuming overnight responsibility for running the City of New York. During this time, he also became a lay speaker in the United Methodist Church and felt a call to ministry. He studied at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC.
Pastor Bob led numerous churches in New York: New Milford, Edenville, Wurtsboro, Summitville, and Phillipsport. He spent more than 20 years in the pulpit of the Rock Hill United Methodist Church. After retiring, he returned to part-time ministry at the Woodridge and Hurleyville, NY parishes. He also was a State Coordinator for the Freedom Council, encouraging fellow Christians to run for office.
Pastor Bob retired from the Methodist Church but never stopped ministering. He continued to lead weekly Bible studies at Bethany Village, where he lived, baptized babies, renewed wedding vows, occasionally conducted Sunday services, and provided counseling and consolation to fellow residents and staff members.
Some of Bob's happiest moments centered around baseball and his family. He tried out for Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbets Field, coached his son Steve's Little League and High School teams, and diligently followed Steve's minor league baseball career He mastered computers and technology, digitally recorded and archived every one of his daughter Barbara's appearances on ABC News, and rarely missed a meal or a Yankees game.
Bob was a devoted and loving husband of 26 years to Patricia Marie Pinto, who died in 1986, and to Bonnie Ecker Pinto, his wife of 17 years, who died in 2013. He is survived by daughter Barbara Pinto (Andrew Heitner), son Steven Pinto (Paige) step-daughters Bonnie Lee Medieros (Jordan), Andrea Long Fuller (Alan), Darlene Polchowski-Long (Yolanda); Grandchildren: Alexandra, Olivia & Steven Pinto, Jr., Ashley Pihl, Brittney Kolis (Jonathan)
Kristen Dickerman (Matthew) Brian Medieros, Riley, Phoebe & Nadia Polchowski-Long and numerous nieces and nephews including Linda Finn (Gary) and Ken Kondratowski (Shirley). Bob was pre-deceased by his brother, Sal Pinto and sister, Theresa Kondratowski. Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Tuesday, November 26th at Pastor Bob's former parish: the Rock Hill United Methodist Church, 254 Rock Hill Drive, Rock Hill, NY. Rev. Walter Haff, Rev. Chris Yount and Rev. Barbara Snyder will officiate. Interment will follow at the Rock Hill Cemetery, Rock Hill, NY.
The family is incredibly thankful to the staff of Bethany Village who cared for Dad as if he were their own, and gave him purpose, community and comfort.

Obituary Preview: Gary P. Budnik Jr., 47, of Rock Hill, known to friends as "Trainwreck" or "TW", died suddenly on a beautiful fall day, Tuesday, November 5, 2019, while hiking with his beloved dog Sherpa in Woodstock, NY.
The son of Eileen Russell Budnik and the late Gary P. Budnik Sr., he was born in Middletown, NY on August 1, 1972. Gary was a graduate of John S. Burke Catholic High School, OCCC and attended SUNY New Paltz. He was employed by The Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark, where he loved his job and took pride in the work he was doing.
He loved live music, cooking and sharing his favorite foods, like his famous stuffed mushrooms. He was involved in many community functions including Rock Hill Sullivan Renaissance projects, Rock Hill Farmers Market, Rock Hill St. Patrick's Day Parade, Rock Hill Summer Concert Series, Rock Hill outdoor movie nights, annual Rock Hill Holiday Lighting events, Wurtsboro HOG, Dutch's and other Open Mics, Dutch's Dart League, Dutch's Fantasy Football, Central Bark Dog Park and What's Cooking in Sullivan County NY. He was also an avid fan of the Islanders, Jets and Mets. Gary treasured his weekly outings with his mother Eileen, attending plays, movies, luncheons, shopping and especially their in-depth conversations.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Shannon DeLaTorre Budnik; his mother Eileen; his brother Paul; his hiking partner Sherpa; mother-in-law Joan Moroney DeLaTorre; sister-in-law Alexis DeLaTorre, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his wife's untradeable horse, Lizzy.
Family & friends are invited to gather for a "Celebration of Gary's Life" and the mark he left on the community, from 1-4pm at the Rock Hill Fire House, 61 Glen Wild Road in Rock Hill on Saturday, November 23, 2019. This celebration will include food and live music in a casual, relaxed, informal setting which knowing Gary is just what he would want and enjoy. Richard was born March 13, 1958 to Richard Sr. and Helen (Howell) Johnson.
Richard was an avid community member as he took on the role of Highway Superintendent for the Town of Mamakating for 13 years during his 24 years with the town until his retirement in 2011. He enjoyed his many years of coaching his son's little league, playing basketball and rounds of golf with his buddies, watching the New York Giants, and taking Maxie Boy for his daily truck ride. He recently moved to Yulee, FL to enjoy his retirement in warmer weather.
He is survived by his mother and father, Helen and Richard Johnson Sr.; his daughter, Kristen Johnson and her significant other, Jose; his son, Andrew Johnson and his fiancé, Kelsey; and their mother, Susan Johnson; his brother, Duane Johnson and his wife, Jill and their three kids: Chris, Emma, and Lauren; his loving canine companion, Max; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The daughter of the late Benjamin Wright and Doris Kanoff Wright, she was born July 9, 1964 in Middletown. A family statement reads: "Our mother sacrificed everything for us - she thought of everyone else first. She loved to volunteer as much as she could and had a big heart for St Jude."
She is survived by two sons: Ryan Webber & his wife Rebecca Calhoun, and Matthew Rodriguez; two daughters: Amalia Rodriguez and Elizabeth Rodriguez; her grandchildren: Athena, Avalynn and Moana; and her husband Isaac. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a son Joseph.

Obituary Preview: Thomas J. Campbell III of Monticello, a retired telephone lineman for AT&T, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2019 in West Palm Beach, FL. He was 76.
The son of the late Thomas J. Campbell Jr. and Anne Hornick Campbell, he was born October 11, 1942 in Brooklyn.
Tom wanted to see God, but he wasn't ready. His jobs here were "not done yet". He was a National Guard private first class; and a volunteer for Century Village Security. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Monticello where he was a Eucharistic Minister as well as a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his loving wife: Ann Goldman Campbell; two children; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; his sister, Joanne; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Family & friends are invited to gather on Thursday, September 5 and Friday, September 6 from 2-4 and 7-9pm both days. His funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 7 at 11am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello. Burial will follow at St. Peters Cemetery in Monticello.

Obituary Preview: REV. WILLIE FRANK SMITH came into this world on February 18, 1930 in Greenville, Alabama to the late John and Norabell Smith. He was affectionately known as "Dannan". He made his triumphant transition to glory on August 14, 2019. He was a 58year resident of Monticello, New York.
He married Era Mae Robinson on April 8, 1950 in Greenville, Alabama and remained married until his death.
In Greenville, Alabama, Willie worked on the railroad before relocating to New York. While in New York, Willie was employed at Walter Rapp Nursery, Murray Glick Auto Sales, and Crystal Run Village.
Willie leaves to cherish his loving wife Era Mae Smith, of Liberty, New York, his son Arthur Mack Sr. (Bea) of Monticello, New York, his adopted son Bruce Smith (Andrea), of Port St. Lucie, Florida, daughter Rosie Solomon of Florida, adopted daughter Amanda Smith of Monticello, New York, 15 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, 14 Great-Great-Grandchildren; a foster parent to many; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter Gloria Williams, adopted son Robert Smith, grandson Kenneth Williams and two great granddaughters.
Reverend Smith began serving God at an early age. While a member of Pine Level Baptist Church of Greenville, Alabama, he joined and remained a member of the Master Masons Lodge 125-A, of the F. and A.M. of Alabama, Prince Hall Affiliation. In 1969 he joined the First Baptist Church of Monticello, New York, under Rev. Brookward Bush. Here he continued as an active church member where he served as a Sunday school teacher and Superintendent of Sunday School. Subsequently, Rev. James Leroy Matthews became Pastor of the First Baptist Church and under his leadership Rev. Smith became a Deacon and was called to the ministry. He was licensed to preach the gospel and was ordained. During his service in Monticello, he became affiliated with the Sullivan County Ministerial Board which is dedicated to ministering in the prisons in the area.
When God called him to preach the gospel, he did not take the call lightly. He knew that in order to properly Pastor, he must be fully prepared and well educated in God's word. Rev. Smith along with Sister Smith and Rev. Mary Alli travelled to the Bethel Bible Institute in Jamaica, New York. Rev. Smith pastored Beulah Baptist Church, Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and later Friendship Baptist Church for many years; and remained a dedicated Associate Minister until illness brought him to the Sullivan County Adult Care Center. Rob was born to Robert Sr. and Sandra Barrus Megna in Poughkeepsie, NY on Valentine’s Day 1967 and grew up mostly in Wappingers Falls. He was the oldest among his siblings, having three younger brothers: Chris, Damion, and Jonathan.
Rob graduated from Roy C. Ketcham high school in 1985. He went on to continue his education at Marist College, graduating in 1991 with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science. From there, Rob attended SUNY Albany and received a Master's degree in Education in 1992. While attending college, Rob worked at Caldor Department Store, working his way up to management. It was here that he met his wife Laura. They began dating in the Fall of 1996 and were married on May 23, 1998 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Beacon, NY. They recently celebrated 21 years of marriage together.
Rob was the father to 2 sons, Gabriel 19, and Benjamin 13. He was a kind and generous person who always made time to talk with others. He continued a career in retail management his whole life working for a variety of different companies. He was most recently employed at Dollar General in Rock Hill as a key-holding manager.
Rob always had a love for chess. He would compete in tournaments in his teenage years, and later, online tournaments. He loved music and would follow the Billboard charts alongside making his own music charts. One of his favorite shows was Star Trek; throughout his life he watched all the different series and movies, as well as read several of the books. Rob also greatly enjoyed comics, especially X-Men and other Marvel characters including the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Another favorite enjoyment of Rob’s was video games. He especially loved RPGs and would spend many hours playing with his sons.
Rob was a hardworker always providing for his family. He persevered through many challenges including demanding jobs and health issues, always trying to be the best husband and father for his kids. He always tried his best to please his family and others. His upbeat, unique, and silly personality will be greatly missed.
Rob is survived by his beloved wife, Laura, sons Gabriel and Benjamin, father Robert Sr., and brothers Chris, Damion, and Jonathan (Laura). He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his mother Sandra and Uncle Leigh (Skip).
Visitation will take place Thursday, August 1 from 4 to 7pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, August 2 at 1:00pm at the Church of St. Peter in Monticello. The burial will follow at St. Denis Cemetery in Hopewell Junction, NY.

Obituary Preview: Edward John Lubniewski Jr. of Smallwood passed away on July 15, 2019 after a long illness. Ed was a graduate of Monticello High School and Sullivan County Community College. He served one term in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. When he returned home, he was a surveyor for the County and then started his own construction and excavating company for many years.
Ed joined the Smallwood/Mongaup Valley Fire Dept. in 1967 and served as chief for three terms in the late 1970s-80s. He was instrumental in building the fire department's ball field in Mongaup Valley. He was passionate about anything involving nature and protecting the environment. He loved hunting at his hunting camp, Hooks & Bullets. He will be missed by many friends from Smallwood.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, the late Edward Lubniewski Sr. and Frances Lubniewski. He is survived by the love of this life, Mary Lynn Parks (who is a saint) and we thank her for loving and caring for Ed for all those years. He is also survived by a sister, Rose (Bob) Allan of Florida; a brother, James of Florida; and a sister, Judy (Bob) Timberger of New Windsor; and a daughter, Jessica; and a granddaughter, Liv both of Hudson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Along with a sheep named Lucky, Fred loved chickens and his pigeons. An all-around hard-working family man, he was known by his grandchildren as "Grumpy Grandpa" but was loved whole heartedly by all.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years: Jean; two daughters: Jodi Lynn Young (Richard) of North Carolina, and Kelly Jean Krier of Monticello; a son: Kory James Krier (Katje)of Grahamsville; grandchildren: Katherine Delgatto, Anthony Delgatto, Nicholas Delgatto Jr., Madeline Hanforth, Jonathan Mann, Kyle Krier, Kenzie Krier and Kaia Krier; a brother: Arthur Krier Jr. of Florida; a nephew: Roger Weaver of Ohio; five great grandchildren; several nieces; and three cousins: Kay Masiello, Patti Mercado and Walter Pelton. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter: Jessica Lynn.

Osborne (Jen) of Wurtsboro; a daughter: Melissa Call (Jorge) of Sparrowbush; four grandchildren: Bradley, Braiden, Gabriela and Liliana; and a brother: Thomas DeNoyelles (Joan) of New City. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, George F. Osborne, and a stepson, Francis Call Jr.

She was a graduate of Fallsburg Central High School and went on to become a dedicated Registered Nurse, having completed her nursing education at Kingston Hospital School of Nursing in 1953She spent most of her nursing career at Community General Hospital (now Catskill Regional Medical Center) in Harris, NY.
Shirley retired after 40 years, most of that time spent in the maternity ward where she welcomed countless newborns into the world. This was one of her greatest joys. She was known for her kindness and will be fondly remembered at Village Green in Vero Beach as the little lady with the dog named Belle, who took the time to speak to everyone she met along the way. Shirley married Charles Bryan in 1956, and they recently celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Shirley was predeceased by her son Edward in 1979, and her brother, William Lupton. Shirley is survived by her husband, Charles, her two daughters, Lisa Quain of Tarrytown, NY and Kathleen Lambert (Adam) of Cornwall, NY. Shirley is also survived by her grandchildren, Kellie Quain and Andrew Lambert, a sister in law, Marie Bryan, and several nieces and nephews.

Bud passed away on February 7, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving and devoted family that he created. The first son of the late Earnest and Susan Johnson, he was born July 7, 1932 in Middletown, NY.
Bud graduated from Middletown Schools in 1952 and was drafted and served in Korea in the US Army from 1952-1954. He married Julia A. Haskin on October 1, 1955, and later began his career with the United States Postal Service in 1956. Upon retirement in 1990 after 34 years of service, he began his second career of being a mail room clerk at Middletown Savings Bank and Walden Savings Bank. Upon retiring after ten-plus years of service, he began his third and favorite career of driving a mail distribution truck from Newburgh to many local post offices. He drove that truck for 14 years until he parked it in 2014.
Bud helped form the Bloomingburg Fire District and was past chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners for four years. He was also 2nd Assistant Chief of the Bloomingburg Fire Dept. and contributed 20 years of service. He was also a longstanding member of the American Legion Post 151, the VFW Post 4947, the Elks Lodge 1097 and was a treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 251.
Bud was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who treasured his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his children: George M. Johnson Jr. & his wife Sandra, James E. Johnson & his wife Debra, and JoAnn Roe & her husband Joseph B. Roe III; his grandchildren: Gary B. Mann Jr. & his wife Danielle, Jessica L. Johnson-Jones, Joseph J. Bruning & his wife Melanie, George R. Johnson & his companion Kristen Clyatt, Diana M. Johnson & her companion Devon Brouillard, Danielle Johnson, Kristy L. Bruning, and Joseph B. Roe IV. In addition, he is survived by five great grandchildren: Isabelle, Owen and Ethan Mann, Manuel Velasquez and Jaden Jones; his brother: Russell Jonson; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Julia, grandson Eric P. Hosking, and two brothers Benjamin and Frank Johnson.
Family & friends are invited to gather on Sunday, February 10 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Funeral services by various organizations will be held on Sunday evening at 8pm with Pastor Anthony Ciaccio officiating. Private burial with military honors will be held on Monday at the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery.
