Ms. Katherine was born on July 15, 1926 to the late Hobart and Minnie Davis Tom.  She was preceded in death by five brothers: Napoleon Toms, Lemuel Toms, Curtis Toms Sr., Elijah Toms, Hobart Toms, Jr. and five sisters: Annie Lee Davis, Bertha Toms, Mary Toms, Ruth Toms Parker, Elizabeth Toms McKinney.
Katherine was married to the late Sam Washington and to their union three sons were born. Katherine was a loving and devout mother; her sons brought her so much love and joy.  Katherine enjoyed celebrating holidays, especially her birthday. She loved country ham and pound cake. Katherine always had a candy bowl of orange slices on her dining room table.
At the age of 94, Katherine was the oldest member of New Vernon Baptist Church.  She attended regularly until her health declined and was placed in FairHaven Home in Bostic, NC.  Katherine loved her church and looked forward to receiving communion at FairHaven from the minister and deacons .She also enjoyed the visits from the women missionary circle and other church members.
Katherine leaves to cherish her loving memory, three sons: Arnold Washington of Forest City, NC; James Washington (Marvette) of Woodberry, MN; and Albert Washington (Ann) of Morganton, NC; one sister, Dolly Hunter of Charlotte, NC; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchild, great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was a native of Rutherford County where she  attended Carver High School. Donnie was employed with Spindale Mills for many years. She ended a career as a cook for Hardees. Donnie was a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah United Church of God in Forest City, NC.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her      husband, David Lee Stover, one sister, Bessie Moore, five brothers, Teddy Keeter, Doug Keeter, Daniel Keeter, Danny Keeter and Sam Keeter.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories; her children, Chris McEntire {Antionette), Donelle McEntire (Leann)) both of Forest City, NC and Debra Boyce of Spindale, NC, two step sons,     Ronnie Cash of Rutherfordton, NC and Darrell Johnson of   Asheville, NC, two god children, Faye McBrayer and Tawanda Peeler of Forest City, NC, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, three sisters, Mattie Sue Miller and Joann Peeler (Harvey) both of Forest City, NC, Diane McKinney of Spindale, NC, one brother, Joe Hill of Forest City, NC and a host of nieces, nephews and neighbors who loved her dearly. He grew up in Hazelwood, Pa. Dewayne got his education at       Pittsburgh Public School. He was a maintenance man at Dollar Tree Distribution Center where he received “perfect attendance” every year he was there. Everyone knew Dewayne was not only  going to be at work but be there ahead of time. He loved when the Steelers won, especially against the “Cowgirls” and loved it even more anytime the “Cowgirls” lost so he could go to work and rub it in their faces. The Steelers was not just football to him, but it was his life. Dewayne married the love of his life on June 28, 1991. Dewayne was a great father, husband, grandfather and father figure to his extended nieces and nephews. He loved people and people loved him. Dewayne was truly musically talented and taught himself how to play the guitar. When he was free on Sundays, he wasted no time picking up his guitar and jamming out with the choir which earned him the name “guitar man.” Another nickname he earned while working throughout the years was rightfully given to him by coworkers for sharing the same name as another person named Dewayne Johnson “The Rock.” If You Smell What the Rock Is Cooking.”
He was preceded in death by his parents Emma and Thomas  Johnson, five brothers, Kenneth, Tyrone, Celvin and Keith Johnson and Vern Thompson.

Gloria was also known as "Ann" affectionately known by her family and friends. Gloria Ann Edgerton was a God fearing woman and a lifelong member of Matthew Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in  Rutherfordton NC. She served as a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, Missionary, Trustee and sung on the Adult choir. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Gloria was employed by Spindale Mills for over 27 years, she was also an employee of National Textiles in Spindale, NC. for over nine years until she resigned due to her failing health. She will be remembered as a selfless, altruistic mother that always had a smile on her face. Gloria had a quiet strength; she never complained and always looked to the Lord for her strength.
