The family soon moved to Yuba City, California, where Linda lived for her entire life, except for her college years. Her father affectionately called her "Kid" or "Tink" for her blonde hair, knack for trouble, quick temper, and mischievous nature reminded him of a certain famous pixie beloved by so many.
At the age of four or five, young Linda took a baseball bat to her older brother's saxophone because she was tired of hearing the "horrible noises" he made with it while learning how to play, just one such instance that proved she was truly worthy of the pixie's name. Linda graduated from Yuba City High School in 1981. She attended Yuba College and Chico State University for the remainder of the 1980s, a time, she would note, when Chico State was dubbed by MTV to be the number one party school in America. After dabbling in almost every major possible, she graduated from Chico State in 1989 with two bachelor's degrees, in political science and psychology. Linda would recall that she attended one football game her senior year of high school. Programs containing a short blurb about each of the varsity players were handed out, and she opened hers directly to the page dedicated to fellow senior Richard Moore, and Linda was struck by the thought that she was going to end up marrying him, which was preposterous because she did not really know him well and frankly, she did not like him very much. Her premonition turned out to be inescapable fate though, as in 1990, Richard and Linda started dating, and the couple wed on March 16, 1991. Their wedding song was "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now", and nothing could stop them, not even the two realizing that they were both intolerable, nor their divorce in 1998. Though divorced, they never stopped loving each other, and by the end of Linda's life, they hung out together often and regularly, indeed, they were each other's best friend.
In 1992, Linda and Richard had their first child, a son, named Cameron, and in 1994, Andrew came along to complete the family. Those who knew Linda knew that she loved nothing and no one in this world more than her two boys, she was a tender and loving mother, if not a conventional one. Growing up and even into young adulthood, her sons often had friends over at her house, and she was always well loved by them as well. More than once in her life, when a friend could not care for their own children for one reason or another, Linda took them in and cared for and provided for them alongside her own, a testament to her kind heart, motherly nature, and her great capacity for love. Indeed, throughout the 90's, she ran a daycare, and many a young millennial spent time in her care. Though first and foremost a loving mother, Linda was also a beloved friend to many. Her friends knew they could look to her in hard times, and she would do anything in her power to help them. She could always be counted on when in need of a listening ear or a shoulder to lean on. ~Her generosity, kindness, and unabashedly honest opinions were well-renowned, as was the fact that she was simply just good company and fun to be around. As American author L. Frank Baum once said "A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others." Heeding that, Linda's heart was beautiful and wonderful, and the world will never be as bright without it. In the end, she would not wither and decay as a rose in winter, but rather, passed like a falling star, blazing a brilliant path across the night sky, and in our hearts, here one second, and gone the next, but truly unforgettable and a wonder to behold. Linda passed in her sleep on February 23, 2024. ~Services are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City, and will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2024.
